Glassential Renewed is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 3.4.5. Various types of glass to aid in your building. Updated to new MC. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Glassential Renewed?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.46 guide

Glassential Renewed is a building-focused mod that adds special glass types without the overhead of a big content mod. The project page pitches it as the cool glass you see in mods like Extra Utilities, such as glass that blocks light or glass that glows, in one lightweight package.[1]

The pack includes version 3.0.0 of the mod, built for NeoForge 1.21.[2]

What it adds

  • Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
  • Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
  • Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
  • Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
  • Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with their Ethereal counterparts.[1]
  • Glass doors, glass trapdoors and glass slabs, plus doors and trapdoors made of all the Glassential blocks and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors.[1]
  • Frameless panels from all the glasses of the mod.[1]

The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, and it supports connected textures through Fusion. The project page says Fusion has been required since version 2.1.0.[1]

Who it is for

This is a mod for builders. If you want a glowing window, a wall you can walk through, or a glass block that outputs a redstone signal, this is where you get them. It's handy for bases, hidden entrances and redstone-driven builds, and it doesn't ask you to learn a whole tech or magic system.[1]

Where it fits in progression

Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests involving this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. They also don't say where the glasses unlock in progression, so treat it as a building-utility mod you can use whenever you like. Check the in-game recipes to see what each block needs. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Glassential Renewed adds specialty glass for building: glass that glows, glass that emits a redstone signal, glass that some or all things can walk through, plus doors, trapdoors and frameless panes made from them. Here is the order I would tackle things in, with the in-pack recipe shown after each step.[1]

Start with Luminous Glass

Make Luminous Glass first. It emits light just like Glowstone, so one block is both a window and a light source. It is the quickest way to see what the mod is about.[1]

Craft the Glassential Brush

Next, make the Glassential Brush. Colorable glass, like Colorable Glass, lets you change its color and properties with the brush. Right-click with the brush to configure it, and shift + right-click any block to copy its color.[3][4]

Redstone Glass

Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone. This pack changed its recipe, so follow the recipe below rather than a recipe from the mod's defaults or another guide.[1][4]

Ghostly and Ethereal Glass

These glasses change who can pass through them. Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities, while Ethereal Glass is not solid to players.[1][3]

Tip: Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite of Ethereal Glass: it is only solid to players (and fluids).[1][3]

Doors and panes

Once you have a glass you like, you can turn it into doors, trapdoors and panes. The mod offers doors and trapdoors made from all of its glass blocks, and its panes are frameless when inserted between blocks. A good place to start is the plain Glass Door.[1][3]

How does Glassential Renewed work?

6 parts

Glassential Renewed is a glass-building mod, so the mechanics here are about how each kind of glass behaves once you place it, plus a brush that tweaks some of them. Here is how it all works in this pack.[1]

How each glass behaves

Switching between ethereal types

You do not have to commit to one orientation. Reverse Ethereal Glass turns back into Ethereal Glass with a single shapeless craft, and the tinted versions can be swapped in both directions.[6]

To get the tinted versions in the first place, you craft them from the plain ethereal glass. Each of these crafts makes 2 blocks.[6]

Colorable glass and the Glassential Brush

Colorable Glass and Colorable Stained Glass can have their color and properties changed with the Glassential Brush. Right-click with the brush to configure it, or shift + right-click any block to copy its color.[5]

The brush tuning screen has toggles for Emit Light, Emit Redstone Signal, Pass All Entities and Pass Player, plus an Apply button. If you try to copy a color from a block that does not allow it, the brush tells you it couldn't copy one.[5]

The colorable glasses also come as panes. One craft gives you 16 panes.[6]

Special-purpose glass

One Way Glass is a secret window: transparent from one side and solid from the other. Right-click a face with any block to disguise that side. A tinted version also exists.[5]

Clear Fluid Glass removes the near-surface water face behind the glass, which gives you a crystal-clear view into water. One craft turns it into 8 pieces of Clear Fluid Fake Glass.[5][6]

Some glass is built to be tough. The protected doors and trapdoors are resistant to explosions and work like their iron counterparts.[5]

Recipes the pack changed

Two glass recipes have been changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. Iron Glass makes 4 blocks per craft, and Redstone Glass makes 8.[6]

Doors, trapdoors and panes

The mod adds doors and trapdoors made from its glass blocks, frameless panes, and glass slabs. Panes are frameless when inserted between blocks.[1][5]

Wood-style glass doors and trapdoors, like Acacia Glass Door, are shapeless crafts.[6]

Dyed doors work differently. A craft of Black Glass Door gives you 3 doors, and the trapdoor craft gives 2 trapdoors.[6]

How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?

6 parts

Glassential Renewed is a crafting-chain mod, so your progression is about which glass you unlock from which. Everything below comes from the in-pack recipes, and each step builds on the one before it.[6]

Tier 1: plain glass basics

Start with ordinary glass. One craft gives you 6 Glass slab, and plain glass also makes 3 Glass Door at a time. Slabs then lead on to the Glass TrapDoor, which comes out 2 at a time.[6]

Tier 2: light and lamps

Luminous Glass is the base of the lighting branch and gives 8 per craft. Turn it into Luminous Glass Pane (16 per craft) or upgrade it to Tinted Luminous Glass (8 per craft). The lamp recipes build on it, and the Glowstone Lamp makes 2 at a time. The Lava Lamp is a separate recipe that also makes 2.[6]

Tier 3: iron and redstone glass (pack-changed)

The pack changed the recipes for both Iron Glass (4 per craft) and Redstone Glass (8 per craft). Use the recipe blocks below for the exact in-pack versions.[6]

Tier 4: ender-themed glass

This branch has the most steps. Ghostly Glass and Ethereal Glass each make 4 per craft. Ethereal Glass can be flipped into Reverse Ethereal Glass and back again with shapeless recipes.[6]

Recipe id: glassential:glass_ethereal

The tinted versions sit one step higher. Tinted Ethereal Glass can be crafted directly (8 per craft) or made from Ethereal Glass (2 per craft). The reverse version, Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass, can be made from its own ethereal counterpart (2 per craft) or by converting the non-reverse tinted glass.[6]

Separately, Clear Fluid Glass makes 8 per craft. It feeds Clear Fluid Fake Glass, which also makes 8.[6]

Colorable glass and the brush

Colorable Glass makes 8 per craft. Colorable Stained Glass is its own recipe and also makes 8. The Glassential Brush is crafted separately, and its recipe shares dye and quartz ingredients with Colorable Glass.[6]

Panes, doors and trapdoors

Most glass types follow the same pattern. A pane craft turns one block into 16 panes, as with Ethereal Glass Pane and Colorable Glass Pane. Door crafts for the ethereal, ghostly and tinted types make 3 doors, and their trapdoor crafts make 2.[6]

What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?

4 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Glassential Renewed 3.4.5. The mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, oldest first.[7]

3.4.0: Brush and colorable glass

This release added the Glassential Brush, a tool for customizing colored glass. It opens a GUI with an HSV color picker, so you can choose any color. Right-click in the air to open the settings, and right-click on colored glass to apply your saved settings.[8]

The brush has 4 configurable properties:[8]

  • Emit Light: the glass emits light at level 15.[8]
  • Emit Redstone Signal: the glass emits a redstone signal at strength 15.[8]
  • Pass Player: the player can pass through the glass.[8]
  • Pass All Entities: all entities can pass through the glass.[8]

The same release added Colorable Glass, a programmable transparent glass that takes any RGB color via the brush. It supports connected textures, and its light, redstone and collision properties are dynamic. Colorable Stained Glass came with it, with all the features of standard Colorable Glass plus a tinted look for better visual effects.[8]

3.4.2: Tinted One Way Glass and visual fixes

  • Added Tinted One Way Glass.[9]
  • Water faces next to Clear Fluid Glass are now culled, using a LiquidBlockRenderer mixin.[9]
  • One Way Glass faces now connect through Fusion CTM like the rest of the glass blocks. It works on both sides of the block, including through the opaque (mimic) face when the mimic is glass.[9]
  • The PT_BR localization was updated.[9]

3.4.4: Crash fix

Disguising a One Way Glass as another One Way Glass caused a StackOverflowError. It could crash the game on placement and corrupt the world, so it crashed on every load. This is fixed, and affected worlds now load fine.[10]

3.4.5: Weather through glass (in this pack)

Rain, snow and clouds now show through plain glass and One Way Glass. Coloured, stained and functional glasses still block weather like in vanilla, because they need partial alpha for their tint, which conflicts with the pass that renders weather.[11]
