What is Glassential Renewed?
3 parts
Glassential Renewed is a lightweight building mod that, according to its project page, adds a set of special glass blocks in its 1.20.1+ releases, so you get the fun glass types from big content mods without needing one of those mods. This pack includes version 3.2.1, built for NeoForge 1.21.1.[1][2]
What the glass does
- The project page lists Luminous Glass as emitting light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- The project page lists Redstone Glass as emitting a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- The project page lists Ghostly Glass as non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
- The project page lists Ethereal Glass as non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
- The project page lists Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass as having the properties of both vanilla Tinted Glass and the Ethereal or Reverse Ethereal glass.[1]
Beyond the glass blocks, the project page's feature list for 1.20.1+ also mentions a simple glass door and trapdoor, and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors. It also lists doors and trapdoors made of all glassential blocks, frameless panels from all glasses of the mod, and glass slabs.[1]
The project page says the mod has full connected textures support through Fusion, which it has required since version 2.1.0. It also says vanilla glasses have been completely replaced by connected (CTM) versions.[1]
Who it is for
Going by the project page's feature list for 1.20.1+, this mod is aimed at builders: it describes light-emitting glass, glass that is non-solid to players or to all entities, and glass that emits a redstone signal.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod has been in the pack since at least an early version, so it is a long-standing part of the build toolkit.[2]
Unverified This mod is not on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it, so nothing forces you to use it. The feature list above comes from the mod's project page, which describes 1.20.1+ in general, so check in-game that every block exists in version 3.2.1. Crafting recipes are not covered here because none were confirmed for this pack.
How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed is all about utility glass for building. Most of its recipes in the pack start from plain glass or from another Glassential glass, so stock up on glass first. The mod's project page also says the vanilla glasses are replaced by connected-texture versions.[1][3]
First: slabs, doors and trapdoors
Start with the basics: Glass slab, Glass Door and Glass TrapDoor. The project page lists glass slabs, a simple glass door and a simple glass trapdoor among the mod's features.[1][3]

Dyed doors and trapdoors, like Blue Glass Door and Blue Glass Trapdoor, are crafted from the matching vanilla stained glass. The project page lists dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors among the mod's features, so they are a way to add colour to a build.[1][3]
Then: light
Next, make Luminous Glass. The project page says Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone. The pack also has a matching pane, door and trapdoor for it.[1][3]
For something more decorative there is the Lava Lamp. Its in-game tooltip describes it as a natural lantern that burns like magma.[3][4]
Then: Redstone Glass
The project page says Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone, and its in-game tooltip says it emits a redstone signal. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so use the recipe below and not one you remember from elsewhere.[1][3][4]
Then: Iron Glass
The pack also changed the recipe for Iron Glass, so check the recipe below before you craft it.[3]

Finally: walk-through glass
Then try the special glasses. According to their tooltips, Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities, Ethereal Glass is not solid to players, and Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite and is only solid to players.[4]
You do not need to start over to get the reverse version. One recipe converts Ethereal Glass into Reverse Ethereal Glass, and another converts it back. The project page describes the tinted versions as having the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass plus their ethereal behaviour.[1][3]
How does Glassential Renewed work?
6 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid hookups to set up. The mechanics here are about how each glass block behaves when you, mobs, light, redstone and explosions interact with it, plus how you craft and convert between the types.[1]
Who can walk through what
The collision glasses are the heart of the mod. Each one decides which entities treat it as solid.[1][4]
- Ghostly Glass is not solid to any entity, whether player, mob or anything else.[1][4]
- Ethereal Glass is not solid to players, so you can walk straight through it.[1][4]
- Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite and is only solid to players. The project page adds that it is also solid to fluids.[1][4]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass has the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass and Ethereal Glass, and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass has the properties of Tinted Glass and Reverse Ethereal Glass.[1]
Light and redstone glass
Luminous Glass emits light just like Glowstone. Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, like a Block of Redstone, so you can use it as a power source that doubles as a window. The mod's tooltip for it says it emits a redstone signal.[1][4]
Other tooltip behaviors
The mod's tooltips describe a few more behaviors. Some blocks are resistant to explosions, and their doors and trapdoors work like an iron door or iron trapdoor. One block keeps ice from melting in thermal glass, and another is a natural lantern that burns like magma.[4]
Panes, doors and trapdoors
Every glass in the mod can be made into a frameless pane. A pane's tooltip says it is frameless when inserted between blocks, and some panes are not solid to players. The mod also adds doors and trapdoors for all its glass blocks, plus dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors and glass slabs.[1][4]

Trapdoors work the same way.
The pack's recipe dump also shows that the stained glass doors and trapdoors, such as Blue Glass Door and Blue Glass Trapdoor, are made from the matching vanilla stained glass block.[3]
Crafting and converting the ethereal glasses
You craft Ethereal Glass in a shapeless recipe from vanilla glass. Reverse Ethereal Glass comes from Ethereal Glass, and a shapeless recipe turns it back, so you can switch between the types whenever your build needs it.[3]
The tinted versions can be made in several ways. You can start from the ethereal or reverse ethereal glass, or craft Tinted Ethereal Glass from vanilla Tinted Glass. A shapeless recipe also converts between the tinted ethereal and tinted reverse types.[3]

Unverified The sources here include no config files for this mod in the pack, so any pack-specific tweaks to its blocks are not shown. No in-jar guidebook was found either, so anything beyond the tooltips and project page is not confirmed here.
How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed has no gated progression in this pack. Everything the sources show is a plain crafting recipe, so the groups below are just a sensible order to unlock things in, not a questline. Start with simple glass and work up to the fancier variants.[3]
Unverified The quest sources here do not show whether the pack's quest book mentions this mod at all. If you want to be sure, check the quest book in game.
Plain glass basics
The simplest pieces are the Glass slab, the Glass Door and the Glass TrapDoor. The slab and door come straight from plain glass, and the trapdoor also uses the slab.[3]

Every stained glass colour also has its own door and trapdoor, such as Red Glass Door and Blue Glass Trapdoor. Tinted Glass Door and Tinted Glass Trapdoor follow the same pattern. Here is the red door as an example.[3]
Material and light glass
Next come the glasses with a material theme: Stone Glass, Sandstone Glass, Ice Glass and Obsidian Glass. Obsidian Glass also has a door and a trapdoor, Obsidian Glass Door and Obsidian Glass TrapDoor.[3]

Ghostly, Ethereal and Reverse glass
The special glasses are Ghostly Glass, Ethereal Glass and the reverse Ethereal version. Each has door, trapdoor and pane recipes, for example Ghostly Glass Door and Ethereal Glass TrapDoor.[3]
Ethereal Glass and Reverse Ethereal Glass can be converted into each other with shapeless recipes, so you can flip between them whenever you like.[3]
Tinted upgrades
The top end is the tinted versions: Tinted Ethereal Glass, Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass, Tinted Luminous Glass and Tinted Redstone Glass. Tinted Ethereal Glass can be crafted in more than one way, shown below.[3]
