What is Generator Galore?

2 parts

Generator Galore adds a whole family of simple, no-fuss power generators. All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 1.21.1-1.7.0. The most basic generators work like a Furnace with Augment: Generator. You put Fuel in and they turn it into Energy.[1][2]

The mod has its own quest line in the "Generators N Furnaces" chapter. It starts right after the Furnace quest with "Copper Generator" quest, so you can pick it up early. You have to start with the Copper Generator, because you need one to make the Iron Generator.[2]

Tiers and fuel types

Each upgrade improves everything: how much Energy the generator makes, how much it can hold and how fast it can transfer power to other blocks. The quests take you from Copper to Iron, then Gold, then Diamond. After Diamond they branch into the Emerald, Netherite and Obsidian Generators. The Emerald Generator is very fast and efficient, but it can't be upgraded any further. The Netherstar Generator comes after the Netherite Generator, and the quests call it the most powerful and efficient generator.[2]

The Gold tier also opens up generators that don't just burn Furnace Fuel. You can make power from Food, Liquid Honey, Potions, Enchanted Books, Lava, and Ender Pearls or Eyes of Ender. That makes the mod a handy way to turn leftovers from your other farms into Energy.[2]

Compressed generators and the ATM Star

You can combine 8 identical generators into one 8x version. It works like 8 regular generators but only takes up the space of 1. Some types go one step further: 8 of the same 8x generators combine into a 64x version that works like 64 generators in a single block.[2]

Generator Galore is also part of the ATM Star path. You need a 64x Magmatic Generator to craft the ATM Star. The "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" quests also include the Ender Generator and the 64x Netherstar Generator. The quests describe the 64x Netherstar Generator as the most powerful and expensive generator in the mod.[2][3]

How do you get started with Generator Galore?

4 parts

Generator Galore is all about simple, no-nonsense power. The most basic generators work like a Furnace that makes energy instead of smelting: you put fuel in and get Energy out. Each tier is built on the one before it, so your early game is basically climbing a ladder, one generator at a time.[2][4]

Watch out: Every Generator Galore recipe in this pack has been changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks. Use the recipe cards on this page, which show the exact in-pack versions.[4]

Step 1: Copper Generator

Your first build is the Copper Generator, and you can't skip it. The quest book says outright that you have to start with Copper. It unlocks right after The Furnace quest as "Copper Generator" quest, and it's also a task in Chapter 1: The Beginning as a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning".[2][5]

Once it's placed, open it up. The screen shows how much fuel time is left and its transfer rate in FE/t, which is handy for checking that your setup is actually pushing power out.[6]

Step 2: Iron Generator

Next up is the Iron Generator ("Iron Generator" quest). Each tier improves everything: how much energy it makes, how much it can store and how fast it can transfer to other blocks. Sorry, Copper haters: you need a Copper Generator to make an Iron Generator.[2]

Unverified The pack also has a Copper to Iron Upgrade item with its own recipe. The sources don't explain how it is used, for example whether it upgrades a generator that is already placed, so test it before you rely on it.

Step 3: Gold Generator

The Gold Generator ("Gold Generator" quest) comes after Iron, and this is where things get fun. Gold opens up the more unique generators that don't just burn Furnace fuel.[2]

Where to go from Gold

  • The Culinary Generator is the first truly unique generator. It burns food instead of coal, lava or logs, and the energy it makes depends on the food's Food Points, so Steak gives more than a Carrot.[2]
  • The Diamond Generator still runs on normal Furnace fuel and is the next step on the path toward the Emerald, Netherite and Obsidian Generators.[2]
  • If you're swimming in lava, the Magmatic Generator counts for the "Lava Power" quest early-power quest. Lava goes in and Energy comes out, but it sits further down the tree, after the Obsidian Generator.[2][5]

Tip: Running out of room? Once you have a Copper Generator, the "8x What a deal!" quest quest opens up. Crafting 8 of the same generator together creates one massive generator that works like 8 regular ones but takes up the space of 1.[2]

The same idea works for the other generator types.

How does Generator Galore work?

4 parts

Generator Galore is all about one thing: turning stuff into power. Instead of one generator, you get a whole family of them, from early ones like the Copper Generator, Iron Generator and Gold Generator up to the Diamond Generator, Emerald Generator, Obsidian Generator, Netherite Generator and Netherstar Generator.[4]

There's also a set of themed generators you'll want to check out: the Culinary Generator, Honey Generator, Potion Generator, Enchantment Generator, Ender Generator, Magmatic Generator and Halitosis Generator.[4]

Reading the generator screen

When you open a generator, its screen shows two key numbers. The first is the remaining fuel time, so you can see how long your current fuel will keep it running. The second is the transfer rate, shown in FE per tick (FE/t), which is the power the generator is moving.[6]

Unverified Which fuels each generator accepts, how much FE each one produces, and how the generators pass power to neighbouring blocks or cables could not be confirmed from the available sources. Check JEI or the in-game tooltips in your own world. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Upgrade items and the generator tree

Generator Galore has upgrade items, and their names map out how the generators link together. Each one is named for the generator it starts from and the one it leads to. It's basically a tech tree:[6]

Unverified How you actually apply an upgrade item (for example, whether you use it on a placed generator or craft with it) and what carries over when you upgrade could not be confirmed from the available sources.

8x and 64x generators

Once a single generator isn't enough, you can compress it. Every generator has an 8x version, such as the 8x Copper Generator or 8x Netherite Generator. Many also have a 64x version, which you craft from the 8x one, such as the 64x Magmatic Generator or 64x Netherstar Generator.[4]

Watch out: All the Mods 10 changed the recipes for these compressed generators. If you're following an older video or another pack's guide, the recipe in your world won't match. Check the recipes shown here or JEI instead.[4]

Example 8x recipe as used in this pack

Example 64x recipe as used in this pack

Fuel consumption in this pack

This is the big one to plan around. The server config option General.increasedConsumption is set to true in this pack. That makes the 8x and 64x generators burn fuel faster too, instead of only producing more power. The option's own description says this behaviour will become the default in 1.22.[7]

Tip: Because compressed generators burn fuel faster here, don't treat an 8x or 64x upgrade as free power. Make sure your fuel supply can keep up before you compress.[7]

Unverified The exact production and consumption multipliers for 8x and 64x generators could not be confirmed from the available sources. Don't assume they are exactly 8 or 64 times the base values.

Unverified How to automate fuel input and power output (which sides accept items, whether hoppers or pipes work, and how power is pushed out) could not be confirmed from the available sources.

How do you progress through Generator Galore?

5 parts

Generator Galore is all about climbing a ladder of generators, and in this pack every rung is built from the one below it. You start with a basic fuel-burning generator, upgrade it tier by tier, then branch out into generators that run on food, potions, lava, Ender Pearls and more. The Generators N Furnaces quest chapter walks you through the whole tree, so let's follow it.[2][4]

Watch out: The pack has changed every Generator Galore recipe, so don't trust recipes from other packs or older videos. Use the in-pack recipes shown below or check them in-game.[4]

The furnace-fuel line: Copper to Diamond

Everything begins with the Copper Generator. Its quest, "Copper Generator" quest, comes right after The Furnace quest. It works like a Furnace with Augment: Generator: you put Fuel in and it turns that Fuel into Energy. The Chapter 1 quest a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning" also points you to it, so either way it's your first Generator Galore block.[2][5]

Picking a path after Diamond

From the Diamond Generator the tree splits three ways, and each path has a different strength.[2]

  • The Emerald Generator turns Fuel into Energy at a very fast rate, which makes it very efficient. It still burns normal Furnace Fuel, but it's a dead end because it can't be upgraded any further.[2][4]
  • The Netherite Generator makes Energy at the same rate as the Emerald Generator but has a much higher Transfer Rate. You make it with a smithing recipe from a Diamond Generator, not on a crafting grid.[2][4]
  • The Obsidian Generator is slower than the Emerald and Netherite Generators, but it has more upgrades than both of them put together.[2][4]

The unique-fuel branches

The Gold Generator can also become a Culinary Generator, which has its own quest, a quest in "Generators N Furnaces". It runs on anything with Food Points, and foods with more Food Points make more Energy, so a Steak beats a Carrot. The Culinary Generator then branches into two more generators.[2][4]

The Obsidian Generator is where the rest of the special generators come from. Three of them are crafted directly from it, and the Ender Generator leads one step further.[2][4]

Tip: Any one of the Enchantment, Halitosis, Netherstar or Potion Generators completes the Chapter 1 quest "Generators Galore" quest, so pick whichever branch suits your base.[5]

Upgrade items

Each step in the tree also has its own upgrade item, such as Copper to Iron Upgrade, Gold to Culinary Upgrade and Obsidian to Magmatic Upgrade, and each has its own in-pack recipe. The odd one out is Diamond to Netherite Upgrade, which you make with a smithing recipe from a Gold to Diamond Upgrade.[4]

Compacting: 8x and 64x generators

Once you have a row of identical generators, craft 8 of them together with an Echo Shard to make one 8x generator. It works the same as 8 regular generators but only takes up the space of 1. Every generator type has an 8x version, and making any one of them completes "8x What a deal!" quest.[2][4]

You can compact again: 8 of the same 8x generator plus a Conduit makes a 64x generator. It works like 64 regular generators in the space of 1, and making one completes a quest in "Generators N Furnaces". Only nine types have a 64x version: Culinary, Enchantment, Ender, Halitosis, Honey, Magmatic, Netherite, Netherstar and Potion. Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald and Obsidian stop at 8x.[2][4]

Tip: Plan ahead for the ATM Star, because you need a 64x Magmatic Generator to craft it. The ATM Star chapter also has quests for the 64x Netherstar Generator and the Ender Generator. The 64x Netherstar Generator is the most powerful and most expensive generator in the mod.[2][3]

How does Generator Galore work with other mods?

3 parts

Generator Galore isn't just a power mod in this pack. All the Mods 10 adds its own recipes that use Generator Galore generators as ingredients for big endgame items, and the questbook links several generators to fuel sources from other mods.[2][4][5]

Endgame recipes that eat your generators

The pack adds its own recipe for Philosopher's Fuel, and Generator Galore machines are part of it alongside parts from a big mix of other mods. Don't burn through all your generators before you get here![4]

The pack's Wither's Compass recipe needs a 64x Netherstar Generator, the top-tier compressed version of the Netherstar Generator.[4]

The road to the ATM Star

The ATM Star chapter also keeps the pressure on: it has quests for the 64x Netherstar Generator, the 64x Magmatic Generator and the Ender Generator, all placed after the Generator Galore quest. See a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star", "64x Magmatic Generator" quest and "Ender Generator" quest.[3]

Tip: The quests call the 64x Netherstar Generator the most powerful and expensive generator in the mod, and it takes an Echo Shard, a Conduit and a ton of Netherstar Generators. Start stockpiling early.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Generator Galore?

5 parts

Generator Galore appears in three quest chapters. Chapter 1: The Beginning gives you a quick introduction. Most of the progression is in the Generators N Furnaces chapter, and a couple of its biggest generators come back in Chapter 3: The ATM Star.[2][3][5]

Chapter 1: The Beginning

  1. a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning" asks for a Copper Generator and introduces the mod's generators, which run on coal or other items.[5]
  2. Next, "Generators Galore" quest wants any one of the more specialised generators. It accepts an Enchantment Generator, Halitosis Generator, Netherstar Generator or Potion Generator. The quest notes that these need specific builds.[5]
  3. Separately, "Lava Power" quest follows the Lava Bucket quest and covers early game power. You can finish it with a Magmatic Generator, or with Powah's Magmator (Basic) or Magmator (Starter).[5]

Generators N Furnaces

This is the mod's main chapter, and it opens after The Furnace quest. "Copper Generator" quest explains that the basic generators work like Furnaces with Augment: Generator: you put Fuel in and get Energy out. You have to start with the Copper Generator.[2]

  1. "Iron Generator" quest needs a Copper Generator as an ingredient. Each upgrade improves how much Energy the generator makes, how much it can hold and how much it can transfer.[2]
  2. "Gold Generator" quest comes next. It also opens up generators that don't just burn Furnace Fuel.[2]
  3. "Diamond Generator" quest follows Gold. It still uses normal Furnace Fuel.[2]
  4. Diamond branches into three quests. "Emerald Generator" quest turns Fuel into Energy very quickly but can't be upgraded any further. "Netherite Generator" quest makes Energy at the same rate as Emerald but has a much higher Transfer Rate. "Obsidian Generator" quest is slower than both, but it has more upgrades than all of those combined.[2]
  5. a quest in "Generators N Furnaces" comes after Netherite and asks for the Netherstar Generator. The quest calls it the most powerful and efficient generator.[2]

Special fuel generators

Compact generators

"8x What a deal!" quest unlocks after the Copper Generator and accepts any 8x generator. You combine 8 of the same generator with an Echo Shard to make one. It works the same as 8 regular generators but takes up the space of only 1. After that, a quest in "Generators N Furnaces" accepts any 64x generator, which you make by combining 8 of the same 8x generator with a Conduit. It works like 64 regular generators in a single block. Keep an eye on this one, because a 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft the ATM Star.[2]

Chapter 3: The ATM Star

Three quests here follow a Generator Galore prerequisite. a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" asks for the 64x Netherstar Generator, which the quest calls the most powerful and expensive generator in the mod. It needs an Echo Shard, a Conduit and a ton of Netherstar Generators. "64x Magmatic Generator" quest can either chew through Lava or go toward the Star. "Ender Generator" quest reminds you that you can upgrade your Obsidian Generator into an Ender Generator. You can then run it on Ender Pearls or Eyes of Ender, or use it for the Star.[3]

Which Generator Galore config options matter?

1 part

Generator Galore only has one config option worth knowing about in All the Mods 10 8.1, and it changes how you should think about the bigger generators. It's General.increasedConsumption, and this pack sets it to true.[7]

Increased consumption

With this option on, the 8x and 64x variants don't just raise how much power you produce. They also raise how fast fuel gets consumed. So upgrading to a bigger tier won't give you free extra energy from the same fuel. Plan your fuel supply to keep up with the higher burn rate.[7]

Tip: The config's own description says this behaviour will be on by default in 1.22. So this pack's setting matches where the mod is heading.[7]

Unverified The mod's current default for this option isn't confirmed, so it's unclear whether All the Mods 10 changed it. The exact consumption and production rates for each generator tier are also unconfirmed.

What changed in Generator Galore between versions?

Generator Galore has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in pack version 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Generator Galore 1.21.1-1.7.0.[1]

The pack changelogs record several updates to the mod over the pack's releases. Here's the timeline, oldest first:[8][9][10][11]

  • All the Mods 10 3.0 updated Generator Galore from 1.21.1-1.3.4 to 1.21.1-1.4.0.[11]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0 updated it from 1.21.1-1.4.0 to 1.21.1-1.5.0.[10]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5 updated it from 1.21.1-1.5.0 to 1.21.1-1.6.3.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 8.1 updated it from 1.21.1-1.6.3 to 1.21.1-1.7.0, the version you're playing with now.[8]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list the version numbers. They don't say what actually changed in each Generator Galore update, such as new generators, balance tweaks or bug fixes. The mod's own changelogs for these versions weren't available, so the specific changes can't be confirmed here.
