What is Generator Galore?

1 part

Generator Galore adds a big family of generators, and All the Mods 10 4.5 includes version 1.21.1-1.6.3. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of ATM10.[1][2]

The generators come in two flavours. Material tiers run from the Copper Generator up through iron, gold, diamond, emerald, obsidian and netherite, all the way to the Netherstar Generator. Themed generators include the Culinary Generator, Honey Generator, Potion Generator, Magmatic Generator, Ender Generator, Enchantment Generator and Halitosis Generator.[2]

Many of them also have upgraded versions. There are 8x variants like the 8x Copper Generator, and some go all the way to 64x, like the 64x Magmatic Generator.[2]

Where it fits in the pack

You'll run into this mod early, because the main questline asks you for a Copper Generator in a quest in "?". After that, a quest in "?" wants one of the Enchantment, Halitosis, Netherstar or Potion generators. a quest in "?" also lets you use a Magmatic Generator instead of a Magmator (Starter) or Magmator (Basic), so you can choose whichever mod you prefer.[3]

The pack also has a dedicated generators quest chapter that walks you through the whole lineup. The main steps are listed below.[2]

  1. Start with the Copper Generator, then move up to iron and gold.[2]
  2. From gold, the chapter branches into the Culinary Generator (leading to honey and potion) and the Diamond Generator (leading to emerald, netherite and obsidian).[2]
  3. Netherite unlocks the Netherstar Generator, while obsidian leads on to the magmatic, ender and enchantment generators, with halitosis following ender.[2]
  4. Separate quests ask for any 8x generator and then any 64x generator.[2]

Generator Galore shows up late in the pack too: the chapter_2_the_star quest chapter asks for a 64x Magmatic Generator, a 64x Netherstar Generator and an Ender Generator.[4]

Unverified The sources available here don't confirm what each generator burns, how much power it makes, or whether these generators are required for crafting the ATM Star itself.

How do you get started with Generator Galore?

4 parts

Generator Galore is all about climbing a ladder of generators, and the pack gives you a clear path up it. The "generators" quest chapter starts you on the Copper Generator and then unlocks each new tier as you craft the one before it. Follow that order and you'll always know what to build next.[2]

Step 1: Your first Copper Generator

Your very first build is the Copper Generator. It's the first quest in the generators chapter, a quest in "?", and the main questline asks for it too in a quest in "?". So one craft moves you forward in two places at once.[2][3]

When you open a generator, the screen shows how much fuel time is left and its transfer rate in FE/t. Check it to confirm your generator is actually running and pushing out power.[5]

Step 2: Climb to Iron and Gold

Each tier's recipe is built on the generator from the tier before it, so you upgrade one step at a time instead of starting from scratch.[6]

  1. Craft the Iron Generator for a quest in "?". It unlocks after the Copper Generator quest.[2][6]
  2. Craft the Gold Generator for a quest in "?". It unlocks after the Iron Generator quest.[2][6]

Unverified The mod also has upgrade items such as the Copper to Iron Upgrade, which look like they upgrade a generator you've already placed without crafting a new one. The sources show their recipes but don't confirm how they're used.

Your first 8x generator

Right after the Copper Generator, the chapter also opens a quest in "?", which accepts any 8x generator. You already have a Copper Generator, so the 8x Copper Generator is the one you can reach first.[2][6]

Unverified The sources don't state how much more an 8x generator produces or burns compared with the normal version.

Where the chain branches

Tip: Keep the main questline in mind while you climb. After the Copper Generator quest, a quest in "?" accepts an Enchantment, Halitosis, Netherstar or Potion Generator. Another power quest, a quest in "?", accepts a Magmatic Generator as one of its options.[3]

How does Generator Galore work?

3 parts

Generator Galore is all about generators. Each one is themed around a material or idea, from the Copper Generator up to the Netherstar Generator. Most generator types also come in bigger 8x and 64x versions, and a set of upgrade items connects the types into a progression.[5][6]

Reading the generator screen

Open a generator and you get two readouts. The first is the remaining fuel time, so you can see how long the current fuel will last. The second is the transfer rate, shown in FE/t, which is how fast the generator is pushing out energy.[5]

Unverified The sources don't say which fuel each generator type accepts, how much FE/t each one produces, or which sides of the block accept items and output power. Check these in-game before you design your automation around them.

8x and 64x generators

Once a single generator isn't enough, you can compress it. Every 8x generator has its own crafting recipe tied to its base type. The 64x tier builds directly on the 8x tier, so you always make the 8x version first.[6]

Example 8x recipe. Every other 8x generator follows the same pattern with its own base generator.

Example 64x recipe, built from the matching 8x generator.

This pack has 64x recipes for the 64x Culinary Generator, 64x Enchantment Generator, 64x Ender Generator, 64x Halitosis Generator, 64x Honey Generator, 64x Magmatic Generator, 64x Netherite Generator, 64x Netherstar Generator and 64x Potion Generator.[6]

Unverified The mod's text also names 64x versions of the Copper, Diamond, Emerald and Obsidian generators. The recipe list for this pack was only partly available, so it is unconfirmed whether those 64x versions can be crafted here.

Watch out: In this pack, General.increasedConsumption is turned on. That means the 8x and 64x generators raise their consumption rate as well as their production rate. You get more power, but they also eat through fuel faster, so scale up your fuel supply along with them. The config's own comment notes this will become the default in 1.22.[7]

The upgrade path

Generator Galore includes upgrade items named after pairs of generators. Their names map out how the generator types branch from one another. The chain starts at copper, and you craft the Copper Generator like this:[5][6]

Unverified The sources don't confirm how the upgrade items are crafted or used, for example whether you apply them to a placed generator or combine them in a crafting grid, or whether they also work on 8x and 64x generators.

How do you progress through Generator Galore?

6 parts

Generator Galore is built as a tree of generators, and this pack's generators quest chapter walks you through it one tier at a time. It starts with the Copper Generator, and each later quest unlocks once you've made the generator before it. Most generator recipes use the previous tier's generator, so you really are building up the ladder rather than skipping ahead.[2][6]

The metal line: Copper to Gold

  1. Craft a Copper Generator to complete a quest in "?", the first quest in the chain.[2][6]
  2. Turn it into an Iron Generator for a quest in "?".[2][6]
  3. Move up to a Gold Generator for a quest in "?". This is the first big branching point: both the Culinary and Diamond quests unlock from here.[2][6]

Unverified How upgrade items are used is not confirmed here, for example whether they convert a generator that's already placed. How much power each tier produces is also unconfirmed.

8x and 64x generators

Every generator in the tree has an 8x version crafted from the regular one, such as the 8x Copper Generator. On top of that, some generators have a 64x version crafted from the 8x version: Culinary, Honey, Potion, Magmatic, Ender, Enchantment, Halitosis, Netherite and Netherstar.[6]

The quest chapter tracks these as well. a quest in "?" unlocks right after the Copper Generator quest and accepts any 8x generator. Completing it opens a quest in "?", which accepts any 64x generator.[2]

Tip: The 8x Culinary Generator isn't on the list of accepted items for the 8x quest, so pick a different 8x generator to complete it.[2]

Generators in the main questline

Generator Galore also appears in the pack's main questline. a quest in "?" asks for a Copper Generator. a quest in "?" accepts a Magmatic Generator, but a Magmator (Starter) or Magmator (Basic) also counts. a quest in "?" comes after the Copper Generator quest and accepts any one of the Enchantment, Halitosis, Netherstar or Potion Generators.[3]

A second main questline chapter has three more quests for this mod: a quest in "?" for the 64x Magmatic Generator, a quest in "?" for the 64x Netherstar Generator and a quest in "?" for the Ender Generator.[4]

How does Generator Galore work with other mods?

2 parts

Generator Galore isn't just a standalone power mod in this pack. Several of its generators are ingredients in the pack's own crafting recipes for items from other mods, and the quest book asks for them in more than one chapter. If you're building generators anyway, you're also working toward some of the pack's bigger crafts.[3][4][6]

Recipes that use Generator Galore

The pack adds three shaped crafting recipes that use Generator Galore generators alongside items from many other mods. The first is Philosopher's Fuel from AllTheTweaks. It needs an Ender Generator and a 64x Magmatic Generator, plus a wide spread of items from other tech and magic mods.[6]

Pack-added recipe

The second is Wither's Compass, another pack-added recipe. Here the Generator Galore piece is the 64x Netherstar Generator, combined with Wither-themed items from several other mods.[6]

Tip: The Ender Generator line appears in two of these recipes: the base Ender Generator for Philosopher's Fuel and the 8x Ender Generator for the Entangled Block. Once you've unlocked it, it's worth making extras.[6]

Quests that ask for Generator Galore items

The "chapter_2_the_star" chapter has three quests for Generator Galore items. They are a quest in "?" for a 64x Magmatic Generator, a quest in "?" for a 64x Netherstar Generator, and a quest in "?" for an Ender Generator. These are exactly the generators used in the Philosopher's Fuel and Wither's Compass recipes above.[4][6]

The main questline also asks for Generator Galore early on. a quest in "?" asks for a Copper Generator. a quest in "?" accepts either a Magmatic Generator or a magmator from another power mod, so you can pick whichever you prefer. a quest in "?" accepts any one of these four:[3]

For the full progression, the pack's "generators" chapter walks through every Generator Galore generator. It starts at a quest in "?" with the Copper Generator and branches out to the 8x upgrades in a quest in "?" and the 64x upgrades in a quest in "?". Those upgrades are the tiers the cross-mod recipes above call for.[2][6]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Generator Galore?

3 parts

Generator Galore shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. The internal chapter ids are generators, mainquestline_part_1 and chapter_2_the_star. The generators chapter is by far the biggest and walks you through almost every generator the mod adds. The other two chapters each ask for a few specific generators along the way.[2][3][4]

The generators chapter

This chapter is a branching tree, and every quest in it asks you for one Generator Galore generator. It starts with a quest in "?", which wants a Copper Generator. That quest unlocks once you finish a quest outside this mod. From there the path splits into two branches: one covers the base generators and the other covers the upgraded versions.[2]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for a Copper Generator.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for an Iron Generator.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for a Gold Generator. Finishing it opens two branches: a quest in "?" for the Culinary Generator and a quest in "?" for the Diamond Generator.[2]
  4. The culinary branch continues with a quest in "?" for the Honey Generator and a quest in "?" for the Potion Generator.[2]
  5. The diamond branch unlocks a quest in "?" for the Emerald Generator, a quest in "?" for the Netherite Generator and a quest in "?" for the Obsidian Generator.[2]
  6. After the netherite quest comes a quest in "?", which asks for the Netherstar Generator.[2]
  7. After the obsidian quest you can do a quest in "?" for the Magmatic Generator, a quest in "?" for the Ender Generator and a quest in "?" for the Enchantment Generator.[2]
  8. Finally, the ender quest leads to a quest in "?", which asks for the Halitosis Generator.[2]

The copper quest also opens a second branch about upgraded generators. a quest in "?" accepts any of the 8x generators. For example, an 8x Copper Generator works, and so does an 8x Iron Generator. After that, a quest in "?" accepts any of the 64x generators, such as a 64x Culinary Generator or a 64x Magmatic Generator.[2]

Tip: The upgrade quests accept any generator of the right tier. That means you can finish them with whichever 8x or 64x generator fits your setup best, so you don't need to chase one particular type.[2]

Main questline, part 1

The mainquestline_part_1 chapter asks for Generator Galore items in three quests. a quest in "?" wants a Copper Generator. Once you've done it, a quest in "?" asks for one of four options: an Enchantment Generator, a Halitosis Generator, a Netherstar Generator or a Potion Generator. There's also a separate quest, a quest in "?", that accepts a Magmatic Generator. That same quest also accepts two magmators from Powah, so you can use either mod for it.[3]

The chapter_2_the_star chapter

The chapter_2_the_star chapter has three Generator Galore quests, and all three unlock from the same prerequisite quest outside this mod. a quest in "?" asks for a 64x Magmatic Generator, a quest in "?" asks for a 64x Netherstar Generator and a quest in "?" asks for an Ender Generator.[4]

Which Generator Galore config options matter?

1 part

Generator Galore doesn't have a big list of tweakable options in this pack. The one that really matters is General.increasedConsumption, and it changes how you should plan your upgraded generators.[7]

Increased fuel consumption

This pack sets General.increasedConsumption to true. With this option on, the 8x and 64x generators burn fuel faster as well as producing more power. Without it, those tiers would only boost the production rate.[7]

Watch out: Because this option is on, an 8x or 64x generator isn't a free power multiplier. It eats through its fuel faster too, so make sure your fuel supply can keep up before you build an upgraded tier.[7]

The option's own description says this behaviour will be on by default in 1.22. If you're used to a newer version of the mod, this pack should feel familiar.[7]

Unverified The pack files don't confirm whether the mod's default for this option in this version is false, so it's unverified whether the pack changed this value or just kept the default.

What changed in Generator Galore between versions?

1 part

Generator Galore is in All the Mods 10 4.5 at version 1.21.1-1.6.3. It was first included in 2.42 or earlier.[1]
