What is Gateways To Eternity?
Gateways To Eternity is included in this pack as version 5.0.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack for a while, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Gateways To Eternity does, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in this pack's progression. Check the mod's own documentation or try it in-game for those details.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Everything in this mod starts with one item: the Gate Pearl. You use a Gate Pearl on a block to summon a Gateway, so your first Gate Pearl is the very first thing to craft.[2][3]
Pick your spot before you use one. A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If a pearl won't work, try moving further away from your other Gateways.[3]
Your first Gate Pearls
Each gate recipe in this pack makes a Gate Pearl for a different Gateway. Three of them are filed as basic gates: slime, enderman and blaze. That makes them a natural place to start. The blocks below show the exact in-pack ingredients.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say how hard each Gateway is or which one is best to run first. Look at the ingredients and start with the one you can craft most easily from what you already have.
Before you open a Gateway
Opening a Gateway starts a fight, and that fight can fail. Know these rules before you use your pearl.[3]
- An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it cannot spawn a mob.[3]
- It also fails if any active mob walks too far away, so keep the fight close to the Gateway.[3]
- If the wave timer runs out, the Gateway fails, so be ready to deal with each wave in time.[3]
- Rewards spawn from the Gateway as you earn them, so stay close to collect your loot.[3]
Where to go next
Once you know how a basic gate works, this pack has more Gate Pearl recipes to try: Emerald Grove, Overworldian Nights and Hellish Fortress each have their own recipe.[2]

There is also an endless version of the blaze gate. The mod has tooltips that show Endless Modifiers, including a count of them.[2][3]

Unverified The sources don't explain what Endless Modifiers do, how an endless Gateway differs from a basic one, or what spacing value the pack uses between Gateways.
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
5 parts
Everything in this mod revolves around one item: the Gate Pearl. Use a Gate Pearl on a block and it summons a Gateway, a portal that throws mobs at you until you beat it or it fails.[3]
Placing a Gateway
You can't stack Gateways right next to each other. A Gate Pearl only works when the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing setting. If a pearl won't fire, move a bit further away from your other Gateways and try again.[3]
How a Gateway fails
Once a Gateway is open, it's on a clock. It fails in a burst of lightning if any of these happen:[3]
Rewards
You don't have to wait until the very end to get paid. Rewards spawn out of the Gateway itself as you earn them, so keep an eye on the portal while you fight.[3]
Endless Gateways and modifiers
Some Gateways are Endless, and their tooltips track Endless Modifiers, both as a count of modifiers and as individual modifiers listed with a progress counter. This pack includes Endless pearls like the Endless Blaze one, alongside Basic pearls and larger themed Gateways.[2][3]
Unverified The sources don't explain what individual Endless Modifiers do, how they are applied, or how long an Endless Gateway keeps going.
Crafting Gate Pearls in this pack
Every Gateway starts as a Gate Pearl made with the mod's own gate recipe type. Each recipe gives a Gate Pearl for one specific Gateway, so the recipe you pick decides which Gateway you'll open. Here are the Basic ones:[2]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
In this pack, every Gateways To Eternity recipe produces the same item: a Gate Pearl. Each variant uses its own gate recipe, so the tier you get depends on which recipe you craft. The recipe ids fall into three groups: a set of basic recipes, one endless recipe and a few named gateways. The breakdown below follows those groups.[2]
Basic gates
The basic group has three recipes: blaze, enderman and slime. All three are Gate Pearl recipes that use an ender pearl from the common ender pearls tag, so you'll want a few pearls on hand before you start crafting gates.[2]

Endless gate
There's one endless recipe in the pack, the endless blaze gate. It also crafts a Gate Pearl, but unlike the basic blaze recipe it doesn't use an ender pearl. It uses an emerald from the common emerald gems tag instead.[2]

Named gateways
The last group has three named gateways: Emerald Grove, Overworldian Nights and Hellish Fortress. These recipes use an eye of ender rather than an ender pearl. Hellish Fortress stands out because it needs a wither skeleton skull and a gold storage block, so expect to put in some Nether work before you can craft it.[2]

Unverified There is no confirmed progression order for these gates. Which group is easiest or hardest, what mobs each gate spawns, how many waves it has, what rewards it gives and how the endless gate behaves compared with the basic ones could not be verified for this pack.
