What is Crafting on a Stick?

1 part

Crafting on a Stick lets you craft without placing a crafting table on the ground. It adds several workbenches on a stick. You use them straight from your hand to open the matching workbench wherever you are.[1]

The main one is the Crafting Table, which works as a portable crafting table. The mod also adds these other workbenches on a stick:[1][2]

This mod is for anyone who's tired of running back to a block every time they need to craft. If you're away from your base and need a quick recipe, you can pull out your stick instead of placing another crafting table.[1][2]

Where it fits in the pack

You'll run into this mod right at the start. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest is in Chapter 1: The Beginning and unlocks after Putting the Craft in Minecraft. To complete it, you just need to get a Crafting Table.[2]

This pack includes version 1.21.0.2 of the mod.[3]

Tip: The mod works with Curios. Put your favorite workbench on a stick in its Curios slot and press the keybind to open it without holding it. The default key is V.[1][2]

How do you get started with Crafting on a Stick?

4 parts

Your first stop with this mod is the Crafting Table. It's a portable crafting table, so you never have to run back to a placed block just to craft something.[1][2]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Finish the quest Putting the Craft in Minecraft in Chapter 1: The Beginning. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest comes right after it.[2]
  2. Craft the Crafting Table. Having that item is the whole task of the quest. The recipe is shown right below this list.[2][4]
  3. Use the item in hand to open a crafting grid wherever you are.[1]
  4. Put it in your Curios slot and open it with a keybind. The quest suggests setting your own keybind, and the mod's project page lists V as its default.[1][2]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so use this version.

Why make it first

The quest text says it plainly: running to a block just to craft gets old. With the item in the Curios slot, you can open a crafting grid from anywhere with one keypress.[1][2]

Tip: Put the item in the Curios slot and bind a key you can reach easily. That way you can craft without swapping hotbar slots.[1][2]

Other ways to get it

The pack also adds a large number of woodcutting recipes for the sawmill, and their output is the same crafting table on a stick. They cover many different log and wood types from several mods.[4]

What comes later

The mod also adds an anvil, loom, grindstone, cartography table, stonecutter and smithing table on a stick. Like the crafting table version, you use them in hand to open the workstation.[1]

How does Crafting on a Stick work?

4 parts

Crafting on a Stick doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluids. It does one simple thing: it puts a workstation in your inventory, so you never have to place a block on the ground.[1]

How the sticks work

The mod adds these workstations on a stick: crafting table, anvil, loom, grindstone, cartography table, stonecutter and smithing table. Use one in hand to open that workstation.[1]

The pack's recipe list also has separate sticks for the worn anvils, Chipped Anvil and Damaged Anvil. Each is made from the matching vanilla anvil and a stick.[4]

Curios slot and keybind

The mod is compatible with Curios. Put your favorite workstation on a stick in the designated curios slot and press the keybind to open it. The default key is V.[1]

Crafting the sticks

Each stick is a shaped crafting recipe that combines a stick with the matching vanilla workstation. That covers the anvil, loom, grindstone, cartography table, stonecutter and smithing table versions.[4]

The crafting table on a stick is different in this pack. Its recipe is changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's default applies. The recipe below is the exact in-pack version.[4]

The pack also adds sawmill woodcutting recipes that output the crafting table on a stick directly. Each recipe takes the logs, wood and stripped variants of one tree type. Examples include Peach, Fungyss, Smogstem and Zelkova, and the dump lists 241 more recipes beyond the ones shown.[4]

How do you progress through Crafting on a Stick?

2 parts

The sources show a single item for this mod in this pack: the Crafting Table, which works as a portable crafting table. So there is no ladder of tiers to climb here. Progression is getting it early and using it everywhere.[2][4]

The quest

You'll find it in Chapter 1: The Beginning. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest comes after "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", and its task is to obtain the Crafting Table on a Stick. It sits right in the first chapter, which is great news if you hate running back to a crafting block.[2]

Tip: The quest suggests putting the item in your Curios slot and setting a keybind to open it. That way you can craft without even holding it.[2]

How you get it

The pack changed the main crafting recipe for this item, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Here's the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

This is the recipe as changed by the pack.

The pack also adds sawmill woodcutting recipes that produce the same item from log and wood blocks. They cover tree types from many other mods in the pack, and many of them include the stripped variants too. Each of those recipes outputs the Crafting Table on a Stick, so you can make it from whatever wood you have on hand.[4]

How does Crafting on a Stick work with other mods?

2 parts

Crafting on a Stick doesn't just sit next to the other mods in this pack. The pack adds extra sawmill recipes that turn wood from a long list of other mods into the Crafting Table. If you've been exploring modded biomes and have logs piling up, this is a handy use for them.[4]

Sawmill recipes with modded wood

These recipes use the sawmill woodcutting recipe type and are added by the pack. Each one accepts a group of related wood blocks from a single tree type and gives you the Crafting Table on a Stick. Some trees accept the log, stripped log, wood and stripped wood. Others only accept the log and wood, and a few accept even less.[4]

Biomes We Go woods work too. Here Zelkova takes only the log and the wood.

Here are some of the woods these recipes accept, grouped by the mod they come from:[4]

Curios support

The mod works with Curios. You can put a workbench on a stick in the designated Curios slot and press a keybind to open it, and the mod's page gives V as the default key. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest sits in Chapter 1: The Beginning, after Putting the Craft in Minecraft, and mentions the same trick for the Crafting Table on a Stick.[1][2]

Tip: Put your Crafting Table on a Stick in the Curios slot and set a keybind, then open it with the key whenever you need to craft.[1][2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Crafting on a Stick?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

This mod only shows up in one quest in the pack, and it sits in the very first chapter, "Chapter 1: The Beginning". So you'll meet it early in your run.[5]

Chapter 1: The Beginning

The quest is "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest. It unlocks after you finish the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", so you'll do that one first.[5]

The task is simple: you submit a Crafting Table. The quest text describes it as a portable crafting table, so you don't have to run back to a block every time you want to craft.[5]

Tip: The quest suggests putting the item in your Curios slot and setting a keybind to open it. That way it's always at hand.[5]

Unverified The sources don't say what rewards this quest gives, or whether any later quests depend on it.
