Crafting on a Stick in All the Mods 10

Crafting on a Stick lets you use crafting stations straight from your hand, so you don't have to place a crafting table on the ground. Hold the item and use it, and the station opens.^[1]

The mod adds seven stations on a stick: the crafting table, anvil, loom, grindstone, cartography table, stonecutter and smithing table. The pack ships version 1.21.0.6 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.^[1][2]

Who it's for

It's for anyone who is tired of running back to a block just to craft. That includes you when you're deep in a mining trip or in the middle of a base build. It's most useful early on, because the first station you'll want is the portable Crafting Table.^[1][3]

Curios support

The mod works with Curios. Put your favorite workbench on a stick in the designated curios slot and press the keybind to open it. The mod's own page lists V as the default key, and the pack's quest text tells you that you can set a keybind of your own.^[1][3]

Where it fits in the pack

You meet the mod in Chapter 1: The Beginning, in the quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest. It unlocks after the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", and its task is to get the crafting table on a stick. The quest text calls it a Portable Crafting Table and suggests putting it in your Curios slot.^[3]

The first thing to make in this pack is the Crafting Table. It works as a portable crafting table, so you never have to run back to a placed block just to craft. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest in Chapter 1 points you to it, and it comes after the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft".^[3]

Step 1: Make the Crafting Table on a Stick

The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The block below shows the exact in-pack recipe.^[4]

This recipe is marked as changed by the pack.

Once you have it, use the item in your hand to open the crafting grid wherever you are.^[1]

Step 2: Set up the keybind

You can put the item in your Curios slot and open it with a keybind instead of holding it. The mod page lists V as the default key, and the quest also suggests setting a keybind for it.^[1][3]

Step 3: Add other workstations when you need them

The mod also adds portable versions of other workstations. Their recipes come from the mod and are not marked as changed by the pack. Use each one in hand to open it.^[1][4]

• Stonecutter^[1][4]
• Smithing Table^[1][4]
• Grindstone^[1][4]
• Loom^[1][4]
• Cartography Table^[1][4]
• Anvil, with separate Chipped Anvil and Damaged Anvil versions that have their own recipes.^[4]

This mod is much simpler than most modded systems. There are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to set up. Each item is a vanilla workstation on a stick, so you can use it without placing a block in the world.^[1]

Using the items

Use one of the items in hand to open that workstation's interface. The mod adds seven: the Crafting Table, Anvil, Loom, Grindstone, Cartography Table, Stonecutter and Smithing Table.^[1][4]

The pack also has stick versions of the Chipped Anvil and the Damaged Anvil, each with its own recipe.^[4]

Curios slot

The mod is compatible with Curios. Put your favorite workstation on a stick in the designated curios slot and press the keybind to open it. The default key is V.^[1]

How you make them

Every item is made by crafting a stick with the matching vanilla workstation. The pack changes the crafting table version, which is the one recipe that differs from the mod's own. Here it is as the pack defines it:^[4]

This recipe is changed by the pack compared to the mod's own recipe.

The other recipes are the mod's own, and the stick versions of the anvil, loom, grindstone, cartography table, stonecutter and smithing table follow the same pattern. Here is the anvil as an example:^[4]

This mod doesn't have tiers in the pack. What the sources show is one quest that introduces the portable crafting table, plus a set of other portable workstations with their own recipes.^[3][4]

Step 1: the quest

Your way in is the quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest in Chapter 1: The Beginning. It comes after the quest Putting the Craft in Minecraft, and its task is to get the Crafting Table. The quest text describes it as a Portable Crafting Table, so you don't have to run back to a block every time you need to craft.^[3]

The pack's changed recipe

The recipe for the Crafting Table is changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default. This is the one you craft with here:^[4]

The rest of the mod's items use the mod's own recipes, which the pack has not changed. Here is what you can make:^[4]

This mod only shows up in one quest in the pack, and it sits in the very first chapter, "Chapter 1: The Beginning". So you'll meet it early in your run.^[3]

Chapter 1: The Beginning

The quest is "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest. It unlocks after you finish the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", so you'll do that one first.^[3]

The task is simple: you submit a Crafting Table. The quest text describes it as a portable crafting table, so you don't have to run back to a block every time you want to craft.^[3]

Unverified The sources don't say what rewards this quest gives, or whether any later quests depend on it.

Crafting on a Stick has only been bumped a few times in All the Mods 10, and the changelogs only give version numbers, not what changed inside the mod. Here is the update trail as far as the sources confirm it.^[5][6][7]

• All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier: the mod was already in the pack by this point. The mod list only says it was first included in this release or an earlier one.^[2]
• All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 1.21.0.1 to 1.21.0.2.^[7]
• All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 1.21.0.2 to 1.21.0.4.^[6]
• All the Mods 10 7.2: updated from 1.21.0.4 to 1.21.0.6.^[5]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Crafting on a Stick 1.21.0.6, so you are on the same version that 7.2 introduced.^[2][5]

Unverified What each of these updates actually changed (fixes, features or recipe changes) is unverified, because there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars.
