What is Chipped?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Chipped is a building mod that massively expands the blocks you can decorate with. It adds over 11,000 unique building blocks, from stained glass variations to concrete, prismarine and even gilded blackstone. The textures are hand-made in the vanilla style, and many of them connect across neighboring blocks.[1]
If you're a builder, this one's for you. Chipped takes inspiration from the classic Chisel mod, and its whole idea is that every block deserves a friend. Want a castle out of sandstone big bricks, or a totem pole of diorite faces? Chipped has you covered.[1]
How it works
To get started, craft one of the seven tables. Each table turns vanilla blocks into their Chipped variants. The tables all look different but work the same way, so pick whichever suits your build. You can also make a few and spread them around your base.[1]
Chipped in All the Mods 10
All the Mods 10 4.5 ships Chipped 4.0.2 for NeoForge 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
Chipped isn't a progression gate. It's a decoration tool you can pick up whenever you want to make your base look good. In the questbook it appears in the building tips chapter as a quest in "?", which unlocks after an earlier quest. That quest completes when you get any Chipped item, including the Botanist Workbench, Glassblower, Carpenters Table, Loom Table, Mason Table, Alchemy Bench, Tinkering Table, Watering Can, Alchemy Book, Saw, Needles, Chisel or Multimeter.[3]
How do you get started with Chipped?
2 parts
Chipped is a building mod, so getting started is simple. The mod adds over 11,000 building blocks based on vanilla ones, and you reach them through its tables. You don't need a long setup chain: one table and you're decorating.[1]
Step one: pick a table
Your first item should be one of the seven Chipped tables. Each one turns vanilla blocks into their Chipped variants. The mod describes the tables as looking different but working the same, so you can pick the one that fits your build or spread several around your base.[1]

- Glassblower[4]

- Loom Table[4]

Crafting any one of these tables also completes the quest a quest in "?" in the pack's building tips chapter. That quest accepts any Chipped table or tool, so your first table ticks it off right away.[5]
Step two: the matching extras
Six tables also have a matching handheld item: the Watering Can, Needles, Saw, Chisel, Multimeter and Alchemy Book. Each of these recipes uses its table, so build the table first. The Glassblower has no matching item.[4]

How does Chipped work?
3 parts
Chipped is a building mod, so its core mechanic is simple: you turn vanilla blocks into decorative Chipped variants. There are no power, fluid or multiblock systems to learn here. The project page advertises over 11,000 unique building blocks, all with hand-made vanilla-style textures and many with connected textures.[1]
The seven workbenches
Everything starts with the workbenches. You craft one of the seven tables, then use it to change various vanilla blocks into their Chipped variants. They all look different but work the same way, so pick whichever fits your build best, or make a few and spread them around your base.[1]

The tools
Chipped also adds six tools, each crafted with a shapeless recipe: Chisel, Saw, Needles, Multimeter, Watering Can and Alchemy Book. Each one's recipe is tied to one of the workbenches, so you'll want the matching table first.[4]

Unverified What each tool does in-game (for example, whether it lets you convert blocks without standing at a table) isn't confirmed by the available sources.
Reinforced and special blocks
Beyond the regular variants, Chipped has reinforced versions of many blocks, such as Reinforced Iron Block-style metal blocks, reinforced concrete in every colour, reinforced logs, crates, froglights and waxed copper. It also includes blocks like Semi Spongy Nether Wart Block.[6]
Unverified How the reinforced blocks are obtained and whether they behave differently from normal blocks isn't confirmed by the available sources. Automation of Chipped conversions, for example with other mods' machines, is also unverified.
How do you progress through Chipped?
3 parts
Chipped doesn't have a tiered ladder in this pack. Instead there's a set of themed workbenches, and six of them can be turned into a matching handheld item. That makes progression pretty relaxed: build the workbench that fits whatever you're decorating, then grab its companion item if you want it.[4]
The quest
Chipped shows up in the pack's quests as a quest in "?" in the building tips chapter. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter, and you complete it by getting any one of the Chipped workbenches or tools. That means any single workbench from this page is enough to tick it off.[5]
Step one: pick a workbench
There are seven workbenches, and all of them are crafted on a regular crafting table. Several of them have recipes changed by the pack: Mason Table, Carpenters Table, Tinkering Table and Glassblower. Don't trust recipes you remember from other packs or older guides. Check the recipe shown here instead.[4]

Step two: the matching tools
Six of the workbenches lead into a handheld item. Each one is a shapeless craft that uses its matching workbench, so you need the workbench before you can make the tool.[4]
- Mason Table leads to the Chisel. The pack changed this recipe.[4]
- Carpenters Table leads to the Saw. The pack changed this recipe.[4]
- Tinkering Table leads to the Multimeter. The pack changed this recipe.[4]

The Glassblower is the odd one out: no recipe in the pack turns it into a handheld item.[4]

How does Chipped work with other mods?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Chipped's main cross-mod connection in this pack is with Sophisticated Backpacks and Sophisticated Storage. Every one of Chipped's seven workstation tables has a matching upgrade in both of those mods, so there are fourteen Chipped-themed upgrades in total.[1][7]
Each upgrade needs its matching Chipped table in its recipe. That makes the table you already use for building the key part of the upgrade. The backpack versions and the storage versions are separate items, so make sure you craft the one for the mod you actually want to upgrade.[7]
Sophisticated Backpacks upgrades
- Alchemy Bench becomes Chipped: Alchemy Bench Upgrade[7]
- Botanist Workbench becomes Chipped: Botanist's Workbench Upgrade[7]
- Carpenters Table becomes Chipped: Carpenters Workbench Upgrade[7]
- Glassblower becomes Chipped: Glassblower Upgrade[7]

- Carpenters Table becomes Chipped: Carpenters Workbench Upgrade[7]
- Glassblower becomes Chipped: Glassblower Upgrade[7]

Unverified The sources don't describe what these upgrades do once they are installed in a backpack or storage block. For example, they don't say whether the upgrade lets you use the Chipped table's block-swapping menu straight from the backpack or storage.
Quests
The pack's building tips chapter includes a quest in "?", which you complete by getting any Chipped workstation or tool. This includes the tables, Watering Can, Alchemy Book, Saw, Needles, Chisel and Multimeter. The quest only checks for Chipped items and doesn't involve any other mod.[3]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Chipped?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Chipped shows up in one place in this pack's questbook: a single quest, a quest in "?", in the building_tips chapter. It isn't a long questline, just a quick nudge to get you started with the mod's decorative block variants.[3]
What the quest asks for
The quest is flexible. Its task accepts any one of the Chipped items below, so you can complete it with whichever you craft first.[3]
- Workstations: Botanist Workbench, Glassblower, Carpenters Table, Loom Table, Mason Table, Alchemy Bench or Tinkering Table.[3]
- Tools and other items: Watering Can, Alchemy Book, Saw, Needles, Chisel or Multimeter.[3]
Where it sits in the order
a quest in "?" isn't available right away. It unlocks after you finish an earlier quest in the building_tips chapter, so you'll reach it by working through that chapter.[3]
Unverified The quest's title, description and rewards aren't included in the available quest data, so what you get for completing it can't be confirmed here.
What changed in Chipped between versions?
In All the Mods 10 2.38, the pack ships Chipped version 4.0.2, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. If you're checking which version you're running, look for chipped-neoforge-1.21.1-4.0.2.jar in your mods folder.[8]
Chipped has been part of the pack for a long time. It was first included in All the Mods 10 1.9 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[8]
Unverified There are no pack changelog entries or mod changelogs available for Chipped, so we can't confirm which versions of the mod earlier pack releases shipped or what changed between them.
