What is Chipped?
1 part
Chipped is a building mod that expands the range of blocks you can use. It offers over 11,000 unique building blocks, from stained glass variations to concrete, prismarine and gilded blackstone. The textures are hand-made in the vanilla style, and many of them are connected textures. It is inspired by the Chisel mod.[1]
To get started you craft one of seven tables, which turn various vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. They all look different but work the same, so pick whichever suits your build, or spread a few around your base. This pack includes Chipped 4.0.2 for NeoForge on 1.21.1.[1][2]
The quest book names the stations as the Botanist Workbench, Glassblower, Carpenters Table, Loom Table, Mason Table, Alchemy Bench and Tinkering Table. Its quest also accepts the Watering Can, Alchemy Book, Saw, Needles, Chisel and Multimeter.[3]
The quest text says each station changes different blocks: the Carpenters Table changes wood and the Glassblower changes glass. It also says 6 of the 7 stations can be turned into a handheld item for easier access, and that there are even Backpack Upgrades for them.[3]
Where it sits in the quest book
Chipped has its own quest, "Chipped" quest, in the Building Tips chapter. That is chapter 3 of 70 in the book, and it holds 63 quests. The chapter starts with "Building Tips!" quest. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.[3]
Before it comes "Changing Blocks" quest, which follows "Tools!" quest. "Changing Blocks" quest also leads to "Chisel Reborn" quest and "Camol" quest, so Chipped sits next to those two block-changing mods. In the quests shown to me, no quest lists the Chipped quest as its prerequisite.[3]
The rest of the Chipped content is spread across other branches of the same chapter. You will find "Chipped Stones" quest after the stone quests, "Chipped Glass" quest after the glass quest, and "Chipped Lights" quest after the light-source quest. Colored Blocks leads to "Chipped Concrete" quest, "Chipped Wool" quest and "Chipped Terracotta" quest. There are also "Chipped Logs" quest, "Chipped Metals" quest, "Chipped Gem Blocks" quest and "Chipped Copper" quest. Some quests in this chapter are not covered here, so check the quest book for the full list.[3]
How do you get started with Chipped?
3 parts
Chipped adds over 11,000 building blocks, and you get at them through tables. To start out, all you have to do is craft one of the seven tables, which change vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. They all look different but work the same, so pick whichever looks best in your build.[1]
In the pack's quest book, Chipped sits in the Building Tips chapter, right after the Changing Blocks quest ("Changing Blocks" quest). The quest for it is "Chipped" quest. It says the stations each change different blocks: the Carpenters Table changes wood and the Glassblower changes glass.[3]
Your first tables
Start with the Carpenters Table, since wood is the easiest thing to have on hand early. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so use the one shown here.[3][4]

Next, the Mason Table. This is another recipe the pack changed, and you need it later for the handheld Chisel.[4]

Then the Glassblower, the station the quest book names for glass. The pack changed this recipe too.[3][4]

The other tables
The remaining stations are the Botanist Workbench, Loom Table, Alchemy Bench and Tinkering Table. Of these, the pack only changed the Tinkering Table recipe. The other three use the mod's recipes.[3][4]

Handheld versions
The quest says 6 of the stations can be turned into a handheld item for easier access, and there are even backpack upgrades for them. In the recipes, each handheld is made from its table plus one more item.[3][4]
- Saw comes from the Carpenters Table. The pack changed this recipe.[4]
- Chisel comes from the Mason Table. The pack changed this recipe too.[4]
- Multimeter comes from the Tinkering Table. The pack changed this one as well.[4]
- Needles come from the Loom Table, Watering Can from the Botanist Workbench and Alchemy Book from the Alchemy Bench. These are the mod's own recipes.[4]
How does Chipped work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.38 guide
Chipped is a building mod, so its core mechanic is simple: you turn vanilla blocks into decorative Chipped variants. There are no power, fluid or multiblock systems to learn here. The project page advertises over 11,000 unique building blocks, all with hand-made vanilla-style textures and many with connected textures.[1]
The seven workbenches
Everything starts with the workbenches. You craft one of the seven tables, then use it to change various vanilla blocks into their Chipped variants. They all look different but work the same way, so pick whichever fits your build best, or make a few and spread them around your base.[1]

The tools
Chipped also adds six tools, each crafted with a shapeless recipe: Chisel, Saw, Needles, Multimeter, Watering Can and Alchemy Book. Each one's recipe is tied to one of the workbenches, so you'll want the matching table first.[5]

Unverified What each tool does in-game (for example, whether it lets you convert blocks without standing at a table) isn't confirmed by the available sources.
Reinforced and special blocks
Beyond the regular variants, Chipped has reinforced versions of many blocks, such as Reinforced Iron Block-style metal blocks, reinforced concrete in every colour, reinforced logs, crates, froglights and waxed copper. It also includes blocks like Semi Spongy Nether Wart Block.[6]
Unverified How the reinforced blocks are obtained and whether they behave differently from normal blocks isn't confirmed by the available sources. Automation of Chipped conversions, for example with other mods' machines, is also unverified.
How do you progress through Chipped?
4 parts
Chipped doesn't have power tiers like a tech mod. Its progression is a ladder of crafting stations, plus handheld versions of most of them. In this pack, the quest book and the recipes shape that ladder, so here's how it plays out.[3][4]
Where Chipped sits in the quest book
Chipped has its own quest, "Chipped" quest, in the Building Tips chapter (chapter 3 of 70 in the book). The path to it runs "Building Tips!" quest, then "Tools!" quest, then "Changing Blocks" quest, then Chipped. The quest is completed by obtaining any one of its 13 listed items: the stations or the handheld tools.[3]
The same chapter has several Chipped quests for block families. They sit under different branches: "Chipped Lights" quest (lights), "Chipped Stones" quest (stones), "Chipped Metals" quest (metals), "Chipped Gem Blocks" quest (gem blocks), "Chipped Copper" quest (copper), "Chipped Logs" quest (logs), "Chipped Concrete" quest (concrete), "Chipped Wool" quest (wool), "Chipped Terracotta" quest (terracotta) and "Chipped Glass" quest (glass).[3]
Tier 1: the stations
The quest book says there are 7 stations, and each one changes a different kind of block. Carpenters Table handles wood and Glassblower handles glass. The other five are the Botanist Workbench, Loom Table, Mason Table, Alchemy Bench and Tinkering Table. Each station is crafted in a normal crafting table.[3][4]
The pack changed the recipes for the Carpenters Table, Glassblower, Mason Table and Tinkering Table. The Botanist Workbench, Loom Table and Alchemy Bench still use the mod's own recipes.[4]

Tier 2: handheld tools
The quest says 6 of the stations can be turned into a handheld item, so you don't have to walk back to the station. It also mentions Backpack Upgrades for them. The handheld items are the Saw, Chisel, Multimeter, Needles, Watering Can and Alchemy Book.[3][4]
The recipes show which station each one is made from. The Saw uses the Carpenters Table, the Chisel the Mason Table, the Multimeter the Tinkering Table, the Needles the Loom Table, the Watering Can the Botanist Workbench and the Alchemy Book the Alchemy Bench. The pack changed the Saw, Chisel and Multimeter recipes. The Needles, Watering Can and Alchemy Book recipes are the mod's own.[4]

Extras the pack adds
The pack adds Create cutting recipes for Chipped wood. Each reinforced log, for example Reinforced Oak Log, can be cut into its stripped version, such as Reinforced Stripped Oak Log. Cutting a matching input also gives 6 of a nailed planks block, such as Nailed Oak Planks. The same kind of recipe gives Smooth Crimson Planks and Smooth Warped Planks.[4]
The pack also adds sandpaper polishing recipes. They turn Crying Obsidian into Polished Crying Obsidian and Mud Bricks into Polished Mud Bricks.[4]

How does Chipped work with other mods?
2 parts
Chipped connects to the Sophisticated mods in this pack. Each of Chipped's seven stations has a matching upgrade for Sophisticated Backpacks and another for Sophisticated Storage, so you get your Chipped tools right inside your storage.[3][4]
The pack's quest book mentions this in the "Chipped" quest quest. It sits in the Building Tips chapter (chapter 3 of 70) and comes after the "Changing Blocks" quest quest. The quest text points out that there are even backpack upgrades for the stations.[3]
Which upgrade matches which station
- Alchemy Bench: Chipped: Alchemy Bench Upgrade and Chipped: Alchemy Bench Upgrade[4]
- Botanist Workbench: Chipped: Botanist's Workbench Upgrade and Chipped: Botanist's Workbench Upgrade[4]
- Carpenters Table: Chipped: Carpenters Workbench Upgrade and Chipped: Carpenters Workbench Upgrade[4]
- Glassblower: Chipped: Glassblower Upgrade and Chipped: Glassblower Upgrade[4]
- Loom Table: Chipped: Loom Table Upgrade and Chipped: Loom Table Upgrade[4]
- Mason Table: Chipped: Mason Table Upgrade and Chipped: Mason Table Upgrade[4]
- Tinkering Table: Chipped: Tinkering Table Upgrade and Chipped: Tinkering Table Upgrade[4]
How the upgrades are crafted
All of these upgrade recipes are shaped crafting recipes that the pack has changed, so don't rely on what you remember from the mods' defaults. Here are two examples, one for each mod. The other upgrades follow the same pattern, each with its own station.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Chipped?
3 parts
Chipped shows up in two chapters of the pack's quest book: Building Tips, where it gets its own quest plus a run of block quests, and Basic Storage, where it has one backpack upgrade quest.[3][7]
Building Tips
Building Tips is chapter 3 of 70 in the book and has 63 quests. The Chipped quest sits on a short chain: "Building Tips!" quest leads to "Tools!" quest, which leads to "Changing Blocks" quest, and that leads to "Chipped" quest. Changing Blocks is also where the other block-changing mods branch off, like "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Rechiseled" quest, "Camol" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest.[3]
The Chipped quest accepts any one of these items: Botanist Workbench, Glassblower, Carpenters Table, Loom Table, Mason Table, Alchemy Bench, Tinkering Table, Watering Can, Alchemy Book, Saw, Needles, Chisel or Multimeter. Its text explains that Chipped changes block designs at stations rather than with a single tool. It mentions 7 stations, with the Carpenters Table changing wood and the Glassblower changing glass. It also says 6 of those stations can become handheld items and that backpack upgrades exist for them.[3]
Chipped block quests
Several quests in the same chapter are about Chipped variants of a block type. Each one hangs off the quest for its base block:[3]
- After the Stone Blocks quest: "Chipped Stones" quest, which notes that only some of those stones are chipped.[3]
- After the quest for amethyst block and the other metal and gem blocks: "Chipped Metals" quest (iron), "Chipped Gem Blocks" quest (redstone, lapis, quartz, amethyst, emerald and diamond) and "Chipped Copper" quest, which mentions variants for oxidized copper.[3]
- After the quest for logs: "Chipped Logs" quest, which adds new designs for the 10 vanilla logs.[3]
- After Colored Blocks: "Chipped Concrete" quest, "Chipped Wool" quest and "Chipped Terracotta" quest, which includes glazed versions.[3]
- After the glass quest: "Chipped Glass" quest, covering glass, panes and mosaics.[3]
- After the light source quest: "Chipped Lights" quest, about nicer-looking light sources.[3]
The book doesn't list the exact items these quests ask for, so check each one in the quest book.[3]
Basic Storage
Basic Storage is chapter 30 of 70, in the Storage group, with 89 quests. The Chipped entry is a quest in "Basic Storage", which comes after the Sophisticated Backpacks a quest in "Basic Storage" quest. It accepts a backpack upgrade for any one of seven Chipped workbenches: botanist workbench, glassblower, carpenters table, loom table, mason table, alchemy bench or tinkering table. The quest text says these upgrades add crafting GUIs for Chipped workbenches to your backpack.[7]
What changed in Chipped between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Chipped 4.0.2. Chipped has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it's one of the long-standing mods here.[2]
Chipped 4.0.2
These are the changes in the mod's own changelog for the version you're playing:[2][8]
- A bug with crafting was fixed.[8]
- A new JEI feature was added.[8]
- Automatic REI grouping was added.[8]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Chipped were available, so changes the pack itself made to this mod across releases are unconfirmed.
