What is AllTheCompressed?

AllTheCompressed is part of the pack. This pack ships version 4.0.2 of it, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (the file is allthecompressed-1.21.1-4.0.2.jar).[1]

It is not a new addition. The pack's mod list shows it was already included in All the Mods 10 0.35 or earlier, so it has been here for a good while.[1]

How do you get started with AllTheCompressed?

4 parts

AllTheCompressed does exactly what the name says: it turns nine of a block into one denser block, over and over, up to nine tiers deep. Every recipe in the chain is a shaped crafting recipe, so you never need a machine or a special workbench to get started: a crafting table is enough.[2]

Step one: pick something you have too much of

The first tier is always made from the vanilla or mod block itself. Acacia logs are a good example of the pattern: the 1x recipe takes plain acacia logs and gives you Acacia Log 1x.[2]

Stone-like and gem blocks work the same way. If you are swimming in amethyst from a geode, Block of Amethyst 1x is the first rung of that ladder.[2]

Step two: climb the tiers

Once you have a 1x block, every higher tier is made from the tier directly below it. There are no shortcuts and no alternate paths: 2x comes from 1x, 3x comes from 2x, and so on all the way to 9x.[2]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Acacia Log 1x

Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/acacia_log_2x

Every tier above 1x follows this same shape.

Because the steps are identical in shape, this is the perfect job for an early autocrafter. Set up the chain once and you can feed raw blocks in at the bottom and pull compressed blocks out at the top.[2]

Step three: use it on your bulk resources

The real payoff is on the resources you farm by the thousands. Aluminum is a good early target, and in this pack the entry recipe has been changed to accept any aluminum storage block from the common tag rather than one specific mod's block, handy when several mods in the pack all add their own version.[2]

9 × any aluminum storage block

Pack-modified: accepts any aluminum storage block from the common tag.

Tip: Keep an eye out for recipes marked as changed by the pack. Most of the mod's chains are untouched mod recipes, but the entry tier is where the pack does its tag swapping, so check the in-game recipe viewer before you commit to a specific block.[2]

Step four: plan for the late game

The mod also covers progression materials, not just vanilla blocks. Allthemodium blocks feed into Allthemodium Block 1x, and the ancient materials from the same mod have their own chains, including Ancient Stone 1x and Ancient Log 1x.[2]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Block of Allthemodium

Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/allthemodium_block_1x

Watch out: Compressing is a one-way trip in terms of effort: each tier eats nine of the tier below, so a single 9x block represents an enormous pile of the original resource. Do not compress materials you still need to spend.[2]

Note that the ancient stone chain tops out at 5x rather than going all the way to 9x, so not every material gets the full ladder. Check the recipe viewer for the material you care about before you plan storage around it.[2]

Unverified This mod has no quests in this pack and ships no in-game guidebook or item tooltips, so there is no in-game text explaining the system beyond the recipes themselves. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does AllTheCompressed work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

AllTheCompressed is all about one core system: compression tiers. It doesn't add machines, multiblocks, or power, fluid or item handling in this pack. Instead, it gives you compressed versions of blocks and items, stacked into a ladder of tiers from 1x up to 9x.[3]

How the tier ladder works

Every compressed line starts from a normal item. For example, a regular acacia log crafts into Acacia Log 1x, and that crafts into Acacia Log 2x. Each step uses the tier just below it, all the way to Acacia Log 9x. You can't skip tiers, so reaching 9x means climbing through every tier in between.[3]

  1. Craft the base item into its 1x version, like acacia planks into Acacia Planks 1x.[3]
  2. Craft the 1x version into 2x, then 2x into 3x, and so on. Each tier is its own shaped crafting recipe.[3]
  3. Keep going until you reach the top tier, such as Acacia Planks 9x.[3]

Not just vanilla blocks

The same ladder works for blocks from other mods too. A regular Allthemodium Block from AllTheModium crafts into Allthemodium Block 1x, and it climbs the same way up to Allthemodium Block 9x. This makes compressed blocks a handy way to store huge amounts of endgame materials in very little space.[3]

Pack change: aluminum

This pack changed the first aluminum recipe. Instead of needing one specific block, Aluminum Block 1x accepts any block tagged as an aluminum storage block. So it doesn't matter which mod your aluminum blocks come from. The next step, Aluminum Block 2x, still uses the mod's normal recipe.[3]

Tip: Compressed recipes are ordinary shaped crafting recipes. That means anything in the pack that can automate crafting table recipes should be able to handle a compression chain.[3]

Unverified The recipe dump doesn't show how many items each compression step consumes, so check the recipe viewer for exact amounts. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified The provided sources don't show whether compressed blocks can be crafted back down into lower tiers.

How do you progress through AllTheCompressed?

3 parts

Compression in this pack is a straight ladder, one rung per material. Every chain starts with an ordinary block or item, turns it into a tier 1x block, and from there each tier is crafted purely from the tier below it. There is no machine, no multiblock and no unlock step: all of it is shaped crafting at a bench.[2]

Andesite is a good example of the pattern you will see everywhere. The first recipe takes plain andesite, and every recipe after it takes only the previous tier.[2]

The tier ladder

  1. Tier 1x is crafted from the base block or item, such as andesite, acacia logs, acacia planks or Block of Amethyst.[2]
  2. Tier 2x is crafted from tier 1x, tier 3x from tier 2x, and so on with no shortcuts between tiers.[2]
  3. Most materials run all the way to tier 9x, the top of the visible chain, for example Acacia Log 9x, Andesite 9x and Allthemodium Block 9x.[2]
Tip: Because each rung only ever consumes the rung below it, you can stop at whatever tier is convenient and come back later. Nothing higher up is required to make something lower down.[2]

Where each material sits in progression

The compression recipes themselves never gate you. What decides when you can climb a chain is the base block it starts from, so the mod quietly mirrors the rest of your progression.[2]

A pack change worth knowing

The pack edits the first rung of the aluminum chain so it accepts any block in the common aluminum storage-block tag rather than one specific mod's block. With several mods in the pack adding their own aluminum, that means whichever version ends up in your system will feed the chain.[2]

Unverified How many of each block a single tier step consumes, whether tiers can be crafted back down into their components, and whether ATM Star Blocks go beyond tier 8x are not confirmed by the sources used for this page. How does AllTheCompressed work with other mods?

3 parts

AllTheCompressed doesn't add new materials. It adds compressed copies of blocks that come from other mods in the pack. Every connection in the recipe data follows the same pattern: a block from another mod is turned into its 1x version, and the 1x version can be turned back.[2]

Compressing is a shaped crafting recipe, and decompressing is a shapeless one. Here's the Fluix Block as an example of the compress side.[2]

Which mods' blocks can be compressed

These are the source blocks that have a compress recipe in the pack, grouped by the mod they come from.[2]

All the Ores blocks

Most All the Ores blocks have a decompress recipe that returns the normal block. Examples are Steel Block 1x, Silver Block 1x, Raw Zinc Block 1x, Ruby Block 1x and Enderium Block 1x. The recipe data I have lists no compress recipe for these, only the decompress one. Salt and sulfur are the exceptions, and both have a compress recipe. I can't confirm how you get the other 1x blocks, so check the recipe viewer in game.[2]
