What is AllTheCompressed?
1 part
AllTheCompressed is part of All the Mods 10 4.5, and it's been in the pack for a long time. This version ships AllTheCompressed 4.2.0, and the mod was first added in All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, so it's a well-established part of the pack.[1]
The best reason to care about this mod is the questbook. The pack's "chapter_2_the_star" chapter has seven quests that each ask you to hand in a block from AllTheCompressed. If you're working through that chapter, you'll need to make these blocks eventually.[2]
Quests that ask for AllTheCompressed blocks
- a quest in "?" asks for Dirt 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Netherrack 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for End Stone 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Obsidian 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Diamond 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Nether Star Block 3x.[2]
Unverified The sources don't describe how compression works in this pack. They don't say how many items go into each tier or whether compressed blocks can be turned back into their base items, and no in-game guidebook was found for this mod. Check the recipes in JEI/EMI in-game before you commit resources. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Unverified These quests sit in the "chapter_2_the_star" chapter, but the sources don't confirm that AllTheCompressed blocks are needed to craft the ATM Star itself. Don't assume you'll need them for the Star recipe.
How do you get started with AllTheCompressed?
3 parts
AllTheCompressed gives you compressed versions of blocks you already know, in tiers running from 1x all the way up to 9x. Each tier is a shaped crafting recipe that builds on the tier below it, and the very first tier is crafted from the normal block. That makes your first steps simple: pick a block you have lots of and start climbing the tiers.[3]
Your first compressed block
Logs make a great first target because you gather them constantly anyway. Acacia Log 1x is crafted straight from regular acacia logs, and Acacia Log 2x comes from the 1x version. The same ladder continues up to Acacia Log 9x. The recipes below show exactly what goes into the first two steps in this pack.[3]

Changing your mind
Compressing isn't a one-way trip. The pack has shapeless decompress recipes that turn a compressed block back into the tier below it. For example, Obsidian 6x breaks back down into Obsidian 5x.[3]

Goals from the quest book
Want something to aim for? The pack's quest chapter chapter_2_the_star has quests that ask you to bring in compressed blocks from this mod. These are good targets once you're comfortable with the tiers.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Dirt 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Netherrack 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Obsidian 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for End Stone 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Diamond 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Nether Star Block 3x together with 28 Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy.[2]
Each of these quest blocks is crafted with a normal shaped compress recipe, so you can check exactly what you need before you start grinding.[3]

How does AllTheCompressed work?
3 parts
AllTheCompressed is all about one core system: compression tiers. It doesn't add machines, multiblocks, or power, fluid or item handling in this pack. Instead, it gives you compressed versions of blocks and items, stacked into a ladder of tiers from 1x up to 9x.[3]
How the tier ladder works
Every compressed line starts from a normal item. For example, a regular acacia log crafts into Acacia Log 1x, and that crafts into Acacia Log 2x. Each step uses the tier just below it, all the way to Acacia Log 9x. You can't skip tiers, so reaching 9x means climbing through every tier in between.[3]
- Craft the base item into its 1x version, like acacia planks into Acacia Planks 1x.[3]
- Craft the 1x version into 2x, then 2x into 3x, and so on. Each tier is its own shaped crafting recipe.[3]
- Keep going until you reach the top tier, such as Acacia Planks 9x.[3]

Not just vanilla blocks
The same ladder works for blocks from other mods too. A regular Allthemodium Block from AllTheModium crafts into Allthemodium Block 1x, and it climbs the same way up to Allthemodium Block 9x. This makes compressed blocks a handy way to store huge amounts of endgame materials in very little space.[3]

Pack change: aluminum
This pack changed the first aluminum recipe. Instead of needing one specific block, Aluminum Block 1x accepts any block tagged as an aluminum storage block. So it doesn't matter which mod your aluminum blocks come from. The next step, Aluminum Block 2x, still uses the mod's normal recipe.[3]

Unverified The recipe dump doesn't show how many items each compression step consumes, so check the recipe viewer for exact amounts. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Unverified The provided sources don't show whether compressed blocks can be crafted back down into lower tiers.
Unverified The provided sources don't show any special properties for high-tier compressed blocks.
How do you progress through AllTheCompressed?
3 parts
Compressed blocks come in numbered tiers, and moving up is a simple ladder. The first tier, 1x, is crafted from the normal block. Every tier after that is crafted from the tier right below it. For example, Acacia Log 1x becomes Acacia Log 2x, and so on up the chain. All of these are shaped recipes in a regular crafting grid, so you don't need a special machine to start compressing.[3]

Tier breakdown
Many blocks in this pack go all the way from 1x to 9x. That includes logs and planks like Acacia, stone types like Ancient Stone 9x, and metal and gem blocks like Allthemodium Block 9x, Aluminum Block 9x and Block of Amethyst 9x. Every step in each of those chains uses the same pattern: one tier in, the next tier out.[3]

Going back down
Compressing isn't a one-way trip. Decompress recipes are shapeless and turn a block back into the tier below it. For example, Block of Diamond 5x goes back to Block of Diamond 4x, and Dirt 7x goes back to Dirt 6x. That's handy if you compress one step too far.[3]

Quest goals
The pack's quests give you concrete targets for compression. Each of the quests below asks you to get one specific tier of compressed block, so these are good milestones to work toward.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Dirt 6x, which you craft from Dirt 5x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for Netherrack 6x, which you craft from Netherrack 5x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for End Stone 5x, which you craft from End Stone 4x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for Obsidian 5x, which you craft from Obsidian 4x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Diamond 4x, which you craft from Block of Diamond 3x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Emerald 4x, which you craft from Block of Emerald 3x.[2][3]
- a quest in "?" asks for Nether Star Block 3x, which you craft from Nether Star Block 2x. The same quest also wants 28 Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy.[2][3]

Unverified The sources don't show how many blocks of one tier each compression step needs, the order the quests unlock in, or whether turning in a quest consumes the blocks. Check the rendered recipes and the quest book in game for those details.
How does AllTheCompressed work with other mods?
5 parts
AllTheCompressed doesn't add many items of its own. Most of its blocks are compressed versions of blocks from other mods in the pack. Every connection works the same way: a shaped crafting recipe packs another mod's block into a 1x compressed block, and a shapeless recipe unpacks it back into the original.[3]
Allthemodium and AllTheTweaks
The endgame metals get the most coverage. You can compress Block of Allthemodium, Block of Vibranium and Block of Unobtainium, their raw ore blocks, and all three alloy blocks, such as Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy. Decorative Allthemodium blocks like Ancient Stone, Ancient Log and Block of Piglich Hearts have compressed versions too.[3]
From AllTheTweaks, Nether Star Block and ATM Star Block can both be compressed. Ender Pearl Block 1x unpacks back into Ender Pearl Block.[3]

Tech mods
- Powah: all of its crystal blocks, from Block Of Blazing Crystal to Block Of Nitro Crystal, plus Block Of Energized Steel and Block Of Uraninite, have 1x compressed versions.[3]
- Ender IO: alloy blocks such as Dark Steel Block, Vibrant Alloy Block, End Steel Block and Soularium Block can be compressed and decompressed.[3]
- PneumaticCraft: Block of Compressed Iron compresses into Block of Compressed Iron 1x.[3]
- Mekanism: Antimatter Block is a compact way to store Antimatter Pellet, and it breaks back down into pellets.[3]
Applied Energistics and its add-ons
If you run a big ME system, you can compress Fluix Block, Certus Quartz Block and Sky Stone. The same goes for Entro Block and Block of Silicon, the MEGA Cells sky metal blocks such as Sky Steel Block, and Charged Redstone Crystal Block.[3]
Resource mods
XyCraft World's Kivi and all five Xychorium gem storage blocks, such as Blue Xychorium Gem Storage, have compressed versions. So does Productive Bees' Wax Block.[3]
For AllTheOres, the pack's recipe dump shows compress and decompress recipes for Salt Block. For many other AllTheOres blocks, such as Osmium Block, Bronze Block and Raw Platinum Block, it only shows the decompress recipe that turns the 1x block back into the AllTheOres block.[3]
Unverified How the AllTheOres metal blocks are compressed into their 1x versions isn't shown in the available recipe data. Check the pack's recipe viewer in-game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Quests that use compressed blocks
The quest chapter chapter_2_the_star asks for several compressed blocks: Dirt 6x, Netherrack 6x, End Stone 5x, Obsidian 5x, Block of Diamond 4x and Block of Emerald 4x. Each of these is its own quest, for example a quest in "?" for the dirt and a quest in "?" for the diamonds.[2]
The biggest crossover is a quest in "?". It wants 28 Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy from Allthemodium together with a Nether Star Block 3x.[2]
Unverified The recipes for the higher compression tiers these quests ask for, such as 3x, 4x, 5x and 6x, aren't included in the available sources.
Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheCompressed?
1 part
AllTheCompressed shows up in one quest chapter in this pack, the chapter stored as chapter_2_the_star. It has seven quests that each ask you to hand in a compressed block, so this is where all that compressing actually pays off. All seven quests are untitled in the quest file, so they're listed here by their quest ids.[2]
What the chapter asks for
- a quest in "?" asks for Dirt 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Netherrack 6x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for End Stone 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Obsidian 5x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Diamond 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
- a quest in "?" is the biggest one. It asks for Nether Star Block 3x plus 28 Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy.[2]
Unverified The quest file here doesn't show the order these quests unlock in, any dependencies between them or their rewards. The list above is grouped for readability and is not a confirmed progression order. Check the quest book in-game to see which quests open up first.
What changed in AllTheCompressed between versions?
1 part
There isn't a lot of history to cover for AllTheCompressed, but here's what the pack records. It has been part of All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier, so it's been around from the early days of the pack.[1]
