What is RFTools Builder?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base that adds the builder, all of the shape cards, and the shield system. If you like automating big construction jobs or protecting your base with shields, this is the mod you're looking for.[1]
It's meant to be used together with RFTools Power. It also needs RFTools Base and McJtyLib to work, so those come along with it.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships RFTools Builder version 1.21-7.0.1. It has been in the pack since version 1.27 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]
Unverified No sources were available on where RFTools Builder fits into the pack's progression, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Recipes, config values and usage details for the builder, shape cards and shields are therefore not covered in this overview.
How do you get started with RFTools Builder?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the builder, all the shape cards and the shield system. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it's meant to be used together with RFTools Power, so make sure those are in your plans too.[1]
The Machine Frame from RFTools Base is an ingredient in the builder, scanner, projector, shield projector, space chamber, composer and mover recipes. Its own recipe isn't covered in my sources, so check it in-game before you start.[3]
Step 1: the Builder
Start with the Builder, since it's the headline machine of the mod. In this pack its recipe is added by the pack itself, so don't expect it to match the mod's default.[1][3]

Step 2: a basic Shape Card
Next, craft a Shape Card. The pack changed this recipe too. It's worth making early because the special cards are crafted from it.[3]
- The special cards include Shape Card (Void), Shape Card (Placing Liquids), Shape Card (Pump) and Shape Card (Quarry). Their recipes are shown below.[3]
- Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) are upgrades of the Quarry card, so make the plain Quarry card first.[3]

Step 4: shields
For the shield system, begin with Shield Projector Tier 1, whose recipe is changed by the pack. Tiers 2, 3 and 4 are each crafted from the previous tier, so you upgrade one projector instead of building new ones.[3]

The shield template blocks come in red, green, blue and yellow, for example Red Shield Template and Yellow Shield Template. Those use the mod's own recipes.[3]
Next: Space Chamber
When you're ready for more, the Space Chamber has the mod's default recipe. The Space Chamber Controller is the related controller, and the Space Card has a pack-changed recipe. The recipes are shown below.[3]

Unverified How to power and operate these machines, what the Scanner and Projector do in detail, and how the cards are configured aren't covered by the sources for this guide. No quests in this pack involve the mod either, so check in-game.
How does RFTools Builder work?
6 parts
RFTools Builder is built around one big idea: you describe an area with a shape card, then a machine does something with that area. The mod adds the builder, all the shape cards and the shield system, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. It also depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib.[1]
The Builder
The Builder is the workhorse. It can quarry areas, pump liquids, move, copy or swap structures, collect items and XP, move entities and build structures. Infusing it gives reduced power consumption and increased speed.[4]
The pack has replaced the mod's builder recipe with its own, so check this one rather than any other guide you might have seen.[5][6]

Shape cards
A Shape Card represents an area that the shield or the builder can use. To set one up, sneak right click on the builder to start mark mode, then right click to mark the two corners of the area you want.[4]
Other cards are made by upgrading a plain shape card, and the quarry card is the starting point for the quarry family. The Fortune and Silk versions are made from the plain quarry card.[6]

There are clearing variants too, such as Shape Card (Clearing Quarry) and Shape Card (Clearing Pump). The pump card and the liquid-placing card have their own recipes.[4][6]

If a card shows the text "Disabled in config!", that shape has been switched off in the configuration.[4]
Composer
The Composer combines shape cards into a composition card. For each child shape you can rotate, flip and apply boolean operations. Infusing it reduces power consumption.[4]
Space chambers
A space chamber marks out an area you want to copy or move elsewhere. The Space Chamber Controller is one of the eight corners of that area, and the other corners should be normal Space Chamber blocks.[4]

The Space Card links to a chamber. Sneak right click it on a space chamber controller to set the card's channel. Right click in the air to show an overview of the area contents. Insert the card in a builder to copy or move the linked area. The card shows a base cost, and the final cost depends on the infusion level.[4]
The Vehicle Builder uses a space card linked to a chamber to make a vehicle inside a Vehicle Card.[4]
Shields
A Shield Projector forms a shield out of adjacent template blocks. It comes in four tiers and can filter by type of mob and do various things, such as damage or being solid. Use the Smart Wrench to add sections to the shield. Infusing it reduces power consumption and increases damage.[4]
The template blocks come in blue, green, red and yellow. The set of template blocks with the same color has to touch the shield projector.[4]
The blue and green templates each give 8 blocks per craft.[6]

Movers
The Mover moves vehicles to other movers. It is used together with a Mover Controller, which you place next to one of the movers. Infusing the controller reduces power consumption.[4]

Inside the vehicle you put the control screens. Mover Control controls the movement of the platform, and it comes in pages 1 to 4. A Mover Status screen gives more information about the platform.[4]
The pack changes the recipe for the first control page. Crafting page 1 on its own gives you page 2, and page 4 crafts back to page 1.[6]

Unverified Exact power costs, speeds and size limits for the builder, shields and movers are not shown by the sources here: the pack has no config files for this mod and no in-mod guidebook was found.
How do you progress through RFTools Builder?
5 parts
In this pack you progress through RFTools Builder by crafting your way up the card and upgrade chains. Many of the machines are built around a Machine Frame. The one gate the pack adds yourself is the Builder: its original recipe was removed and replaced with a pack-specific one that uses Allthemodium nuggets, so you need access to that metal first.[5][6]
Unverified The quest chapters in the sources here do not show any quest for this mod, so the order below follows the crafting recipes instead of a quest path.

Early tier: cards and basic machines
The Shape Card is the base of the card system, and the pack has changed its recipe. The pump, liquid and void cards are all made from that base card, so craft a few and you can branch out.[6]
The Composer and Space Chamber use their normal mod recipes. The Space Card is one of the pack-changed recipes. The Space Chamber Controller builds on the Space Chamber, so make the chamber first.[6]

Quarry card tiers
The Shape Card (Quarry) is the base of the quarry line. From it you can upgrade to the Shape Card (Silk Quarry) or the Shape Card (Fortune Quarry). Each quarry card also has a Clearing version, and there are dirt recipes that turn a Clearing card back into the normal one.[6]

The Mover Control comes in four pages, Mover Control, Mover Control (Page 2), Mover Control (Page 3) and Mover Control (Page 4). Each page converts into the next, and Page 4 converts back into the first.[6]
The vehicle line is built on the Vehicle Card. The Vehicle Builder, the Vehicle Card, the Vehicle Control Module and the Vehicle Status Module all have pack-changed recipes.[6]
How does RFTools Builder work with other mods?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
No quests in this pack involve RFTools Builder, so its connections to other mods show up in recipes. The mod is an addon for RFTools Base and is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. Almost everything it adds is built around the Machine Frame, and several recipes also need Infused Diamond or Dimensional Shard from that base mod.[1][3]
The Builder is gated by the pack
The Builder has a recipe added by the pack through KubeJS. It brings in an Allthemodium nugget, so you can't make it from RFTools materials alone. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

Recipes the pack changed
The pack changed the crafting recipes for the Projector, Scanner, Mover Control, Mover Status, Vehicle Builder and Shield Projector Tier 1. The recipes shown below are the ones that apply in this pack, so use them rather than the mod's defaults.[3]

Where vanilla items come in
- The Mover family uses vanilla rail parts. The Mover uses Rail and the Mover Controller uses Activator Rail.[3]
- The Mover Status uses a Comparator and the Mover Control uses a Repeater. Both also take a Redstone Torch.[3]
- The Vehicle Builder uses a Minecart.[3]
- The Composer uses Brick and Paper.[3]
- The Scanner uses Quartz and the Projector uses Glowstone Dust.[3]
Upgrades with rare vanilla drops
The upgrade recipes are where vanilla progression matters most. Shield Projector Tier 3 and Shield Projector Tier 4 each take Obsidian and a Dimensional Shard on top of the previous tier. Tier 4 also needs a Nether Star. These recipes copy the components of the item you upgrade.[3]
The quarry cards work the same way. Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) are both upgrades of a Shape Card (Quarry) and both need a Dimensional Shard. The Fortune card is the one that calls for vanilla treasures such as Diamond, Emerald and Ghast Tear, while the Silk card needs a Nether Star. The exact recipes are shown below.[3]

Common tags make it flexible
Many recipes ask for "any" item from a common tag, such as ender pearls, iron ingots, redstone dust, gold ingots, glass blocks or blue dye. Any mod's item in that tag works. The Space Chamber, for example, takes any blue dye and any glass block alongside its Machine Frame.[3]

Which RFTools Builder config options matter?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.6 guide
I don't have any config information for RFTools Builder in this pack, so I can't tell you which options matter or what values the pack sets. No config files for this mod were available to me, and the only source I have is the mod's project page, which doesn't list any options.[1]
Unverified Whether the pack changed any RFTools Builder config values from the mod defaults, and what those values are, is unverified. Check the config files in your own instance rather than relying on mod defaults, since the pack's values may differ.
What changed in RFTools Builder between versions?
2 parts
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships RFTools Builder 1.21-7.0.6, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The notable changes below come from the mod's own changelogs for versions 7.0.5 and 7.0.6.[7][8][9]
1.21-7.0.6 (the version in this pack)
- Fixed a crash in the scanner that could happen in some rare situations.[7]
- Fixed a bug in the shape card on servers when you manually select the corners with a dimension that exceeds 512. Credit goes to derrickmehaffy for this fix.[7]
1.21-7.0.5
- The Patchouli manual documentation was updated and expanded.[8]
- The new Scanner, Projector and Composer were added.[8]
Unverified The sources here include no All the Mons changelog entries for this mod, so whether any pack release changed its recipes or values is not shown.
