What is RFTools Builder?
1 part
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the builder, all of the shape cards, and the shield system.[1]
The mod is intended to be used together with RFTools Power. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, so those need to be in your instance for it to load.[1]
Version in this pack
The pack ships RFTools Builder 1.21-7.0.6. It was first included in version 2.25 or earlier of the pack.[2]
How do you get started with RFTools Builder?
5 parts
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the builder, all the shape cards and the shield system. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it's meant to be used together with RFTools Power, so make sure those are in your plans too.[1]
The Machine Frame from RFTools Base is an ingredient in the builder, scanner, projector, shield projector, space chamber, composer and mover recipes. Its own recipe isn't covered in my sources, so check it in-game before you start.[3]
Step 1: the Builder
Start with the Builder, since it's the headline machine of the mod. In this pack its recipe is added by the pack itself, so don't expect it to match the mod's default.[1][3]

Step 2: a basic Shape Card
Next, craft a Shape Card. The pack changed this recipe too. It's worth making early because the special cards are crafted from it.[3]
- The special cards include Shape Card (Void), Shape Card (Placing Liquids), Shape Card (Pump) and Shape Card (Quarry). Their recipes are shown below.[3]
- Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) are upgrades of the Quarry card, so make the plain Quarry card first.[3]

Step 3: Scanner and Projector
The Scanner and the Projector both have recipes changed by the pack, so follow these rather than any older guide.[3]

Step 4: shields
For the shield system, begin with Shield Projector Tier 1, whose recipe is changed by the pack. Tiers 2, 3 and 4 are each crafted from the previous tier, so you upgrade one projector instead of building new ones.[3]

The shield template blocks come in red, green, blue and yellow, for example Red Shield Template and Yellow Shield Template. Those use the mod's own recipes.[3]
Next: Space Chamber
When you're ready for more, the Space Chamber has the mod's default recipe. The Space Chamber Controller is the related controller, and the Space Card has a pack-changed recipe. The recipes are shown below.[3]

Unverified How to power and operate these machines, what the Scanner and Projector do in detail, and how the cards are configured aren't covered by the sources for this guide. No quests in this pack involve the mod either, so check in-game.
How does RFTools Builder work?
6 parts
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the builder, all the shape cards and the shield system. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power.[1]
I can only confirm the broad structure of the mod here. The pack has no config files for this mod, and I have no guidebook or tooltip text for it. So I can't give you power costs, build speeds, shield behaviour or automation details without guessing.[1]
Unverified Power consumption, builder speed, shield configuration, how the Mover and Space Chamber multiblocks connect, and item or fluid automation for these machines are not covered by the available sources.
The Builder in this pack
The Builder has a recipe that the pack added through KubeJS. Don't assume the mod's default recipe applies. It is built around a Machine Frame from RFTools Base.[3]

Shape cards
The basic Shape Card has a recipe changed by the pack. The Shape Card (Placing Liquids) is made from an existing Shape Card, using a recipe type that copies components from one item to the other.[1][3]

Shields
The Shield Projector Tier 1 is changed by the pack, and its recipe is shown below. Shield template blocks come in four colours: Red Shield Template, Green Shield Template, Blue Shield Template and Yellow Shield Template. All four use the mod's own recipes, and the red one is shown as an example.[1][3]

The Mover Control has four page versions, and you switch between them by shapeless crafting. Each craft turns one page into the next:[3]
- Craft Mover Control to get Mover Control (Page 2).[3]
- Craft that to get Mover Control (Page 3).[3]
- Craft that to get Mover Control (Page 4).[3]
- Craft page 4 to return to the original Mover Control.[3]
Vehicles
The Vehicle Builder, Vehicle Card, Vehicle Control Module and Vehicle Status Module all have recipes changed by the pack. The two modules both build on the Vehicle Card. The Vehicle Builder recipe is shown below.[3]

How do you progress through RFTools Builder?
5 parts
There are no quest steps to follow for this mod, so progression here comes from the recipes themselves. Most of the machines are built around a Machine Frame, and many items are upgrades that take the previous item as an input instead of being crafted from scratch.[3]
Early game: space chamber, movers and templates
A good first step is the Space Chamber, which uses an unchanged mod recipe. The Space Chamber Controller is then built on top of the chamber itself. The pack changed the recipes for the Space Card and the basic Shape Card, so don't rely on what you remember from default RFTools.[3]
The Composer, Mover and Mover Controller all use the mod's own recipes. The pack did change Mover Control and Mover Status. Mover Control also has page variants (Mover Control (Page 2), Mover Control (Page 3), Mover Control (Page 4)). You step through the pages with single-item crafting recipes, and a separate recipe turns page 4 back into the first.[3]

The shield templates come in four colours: Red Shield Template, Green Shield Template, Blue Shield Template and Yellow Shield Template. The pack leaves these recipes unchanged, and they all follow the same pattern, so the red one is shown below.[3]

Shield Projector tiers
The shield projector is the clearest tier ladder in the mod, with four tiers. Tier 1 is crafted from scratch and the pack changed that recipe. Tiers 2 to 4 are upgrades that keep the previous projector as an input.[3]

Tier 2 upgrades the Tier 1 projector.
Tier 3 upgrades Tier 2 and brings in a Dimensional Shard.
Tier 4 upgrades Tier 3 and adds a Nether Star.
Mid game: scanning, projecting and vehicles
The Scanner and Projector both need an Infused Diamond, a Machine Frame and an ender pearl. The pack changed both recipes, so check them here.[3]

Shape card upgrades
Special shape cards are made by combining the basic Shape Card with extra items. The Shape Card (Placing Liquids), Shape Card (Pump), Shape Card (Quarry) and Shape Card (Void) all start from the basic card.[3]
The quarry card is the base for the premium quarry cards. The Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) needs a Dimensional Shard, and the Shape Card (Silk Quarry) needs a Dimensional Shard and a Nether Star.[3]
Pump and quarry cards also have clearing variants, made by adding glass to the normal card, for example Shape Card (Clearing Quarry). Adding dirt to a clearing card turns it back into the normal one.[3]
The Builder
The Builder is the one item here whose recipe the pack added itself. It calls for an allthemodium nugget, a Machine Frame, an ender pearl and a block of redstone.[3]

How does RFTools Builder work with other mods?
5 parts
No quests in this pack involve RFTools Builder, so its connections to other mods show up in recipes. The mod is an addon for RFTools Base and is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. Almost everything it adds is built around the Machine Frame, and several recipes also need Infused Diamond or Dimensional Shard from that base mod.[1][3]
The Builder is gated by the pack
The Builder has a recipe added by the pack through KubeJS. It brings in an Allthemodium nugget, so you can't make it from RFTools materials alone. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

Recipes the pack changed
The pack changed the crafting recipes for the Projector, Scanner, Mover Control, Mover Status, Vehicle Builder and Shield Projector Tier 1. The recipes shown below are the ones that apply in this pack, so use them rather than the mod's defaults.[3]

Where vanilla items come in
- The Mover family uses vanilla rail parts. The Mover uses Rail and the Mover Controller uses Activator Rail.[3]
- The Mover Status uses a Comparator and the Mover Control uses a Repeater. Both also take a Redstone Torch.[3]
- The Vehicle Builder uses a Minecart.[3]
- The Composer uses Brick and Paper.[3]
- The Scanner uses Quartz and the Projector uses Glowstone Dust.[3]
Upgrades with rare vanilla drops
The upgrade recipes are where vanilla progression matters most. Shield Projector Tier 3 and Shield Projector Tier 4 each take Obsidian and a Dimensional Shard on top of the previous tier. Tier 4 also needs a Nether Star. These recipes copy the components of the item you upgrade.[3]
The quarry cards work the same way. Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) are both upgrades of a Shape Card (Quarry) and both need a Dimensional Shard. The Fortune card is the one that calls for vanilla treasures such as Diamond, Emerald and Ghast Tear, while the Silk card needs a Nether Star. The exact recipes are shown below.[3]

Common tags make it flexible
Many recipes ask for "any" item from a common tag, such as ender pearls, iron ingots, redstone dust, gold ingots, glass blocks or blue dye. Any mod's item in that tag works. The Space Chamber, for example, takes any blue dye and any glass block alongside its Machine Frame.[3]
