What is Mutant Monsters?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide
Mutant Monsters adds mutated versions of Minecraft's classic mobs, each with its own devastating attacks and a unique reward. You fight the Mutant Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Enderman and more, and each one is a fresh challenge.[1]
This pack includes Mutant Monsters 26.1.3, the NeoForge build, and it was already in the pack by version 1.0.2.[2]
The mutants and their rewards
- Mutant Zombie: a hulking brute with powerful smash attacks. Beat it to get the Hulk Hammer, a weapon that slams the ground and knocks back enemies.[1]
- Mutant Skeleton: a deadly marksman. Its bones let you craft Mutant Skeleton Armor.[1]
- Mutant Creeper: causes chain explosions and drops a Creeper Minion Egg when it dies.[1]
- Mutant Enderman: a teleporting terror. Cut off its hand to get the Endersoul Hand, which gives you teleportation and block manipulation powers.[1]
- Mutant Snow Golem: a strong ally that throws massive chunks of ice at enemies.[1]
Minions and Chemical X
A Creeper Minion Egg hatches an explosive ally, and you can tame and track these minions with a Creeper Minion Tracker. Destroying the egg instead gives you a Creeper Shard, a toxic weapon that causes explosions when used on terrain.[1]
Chemical X is a mysterious liquid that mutates mobs into powerful mutants or strange new creatures. Use it on a pig that ate a fermented spider eye and you get the fast, unpredictable Spider Pig.[1]
Setup notes
The mod must be installed on both client and server, and on NeoForge it needs Puzzles Lib. Its config files, where they exist, are named MOD_ID-client.toml, MOD_ID-common.toml or MOD_ID-server.toml in the config folder.[1]
Which Mutant Monsters config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Mutant Monsters has a common config for spawn weights and a server config for the Endersoul Hand and Mutant X conversions. Here is exactly how the pack sets them.[3][4]
Mutant spawn weights
The mutant zombie, skeleton, creeper and enderman each have a spawn weight option. Each one is a percentage of the matching vanilla mob's spawn weight, and the allowed range is 0.0 ~ 20.0. Mutants can spawn in every biome and dimension where their vanilla counterparts can be found.[4]
- mutant_creeper_spawn_weight is set to 0.05 in this pack.[4]
- mutant_enderman_spawn_weight is set to 0.05 in this pack.[4]
- mutant_skeleton_spawn_weight is set to 0.05 in this pack.[4]
- mutant_zombie_spawn_weight is set to 0.05 in this pack.[4]
All of them sit at the same value, so no single mutant is favoured over the others. If you want to change how often you run into them, these are the options to edit.[4]
Endersoul Hand range
endersoul_hand_teleport_distance controls the maximum distance the Endersoul Hand can be used to travel to. The pack sets it to 128, and the allowed range is 0 ~ 128, so that is the top of the range.[3]
Mutant X conversions
mutant_x_conversions decides what a mob turns into when it is infested with a Mutant X potion. If a mob is not on the list, the target only explodes and takes damage. Each entry is written as the original mob id, a comma, then the mutant id, and if you leave out the namespace it defaults to minecraft.[3]
This is the full list of conversions the pack uses:[3]
- Creeper becomes Mutant Creeper.[3]
- Enderman becomes Mutant Enderman.[3]
- Skeleton becomes Mutant Skeleton.[3]
- Snow Golem becomes Mutant Snow Golem.[3]
- Zombie becomes Mutant Zombie.[3]
- Pig becomes Spider Pig.[3]
