What is BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
1 part
BloodMagic AE2 Addition (BMAddon) links Blood Magic-style crafting with Applied Energistics 2, so your ME network can run blood-powered automation. The project page lists custom Blood Patterns encoded in the AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal, Tier Cards II to V, a Parallel Processing Card, a Blood Speed Card and AE2 Speed Card support. Crafted results go back into your ME network.[1]
The page also describes a machine that automates supported recipes straight from your ME network, plus a Blood Generator that turns Forge Energy into Essentia Vitae. That description is written for the NeoVitae line, where the machine is called the Ara Vitae Assembler. In this pack's quest book the matching item is the Blood Assembler, and the quests use the standard Blood Magic items.[1][2]
This pack ships version 1.0.4 of the mod. It was first included in 0.0.50.0 or earlier.[3]
Where the quest book puts it
The quests that ask for the mod's items sit in the "Blood Magic" chapter of the "Production" group. They come late in the chapter, after the Blood Altar line.[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for Blood Pattern, the Blood Pattern you encode in the AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal. It comes after a quest in "Blood Magic".[1][2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card and comes after "Blood Altar III" quest.[1][2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for Blood Altar Tier Card II and a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for Blood Speed Card. Both come after "Blood Altar IV" quest.[1][2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Generator, a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Assembler and a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for Blood Altar Tier Card III. All three come after "Blood Altar V" quest.[1][2]
- The card line then continues with a quest in "Blood Magic" (Blood Altar Tier Card IV) after Tier Card III, and a quest in "Blood Magic" (Blood Altar Tier Card V) after Tier Card IV.[1][2]
The "Crazy AE2 Addon" chapter, the next one in the same Production group, also has quests asking for Blood Altar Tier Card III, Blood Altar Tier Card IV and Blood Altar Tier Card V, the Tier Cards from the mod's II to V line.[1][4]
This mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so you can treat it as an optional side route.[2]
How do you get started with BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
5 parts
Good news: you don't start this addon from scratch. Its items are spread through the Blood Magic chapter of the quest book, so the quest order is the order to follow. You'll want to work through the normal Blood Magic altar progression first, then pick up the addon items as the book unlocks them.[2]
Step 1: Climb the altar tiers
The chapter opens with "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest, then a quest in "Blood Magic", which asks for the altar and the sacrificial dagger. From there the book runs through "Blood Altar II" quest, "Blood Altar III" quest, "Blood Altar IV" quest and "Blood Altar V" quest. Almost every addon item is hung off one of those tiers, so this is your real progress bar.[2]
Step 2: Make the upgrade cards
The first addon item the book offers is the Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card, right after Blood Altar III, in a quest in "Blood Magic". It increases the number of simultaneous crafts in the Blood Assembler. The pack makes it with a Blood Altar recipe rather than a crafting grid.[2][5][6]
Altar (bloodmagic)

After Blood Altar IV you get two more quests: a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic". The Blood Speed Card works in the Blood Assembler, counts as four normal speed cards, and can go past the normal AE2 speed limit.[2][6]
The Blood Altar Tier Card II has two recipes in the pack, an altar recipe and a shapeless crafting recipe. Tier cards raise the altar tier, and all lower-tier recipes stay available.[5][6]

Step 3: Get a Blood Pattern
a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after a quest in "Blood Magic". The Blood Pattern goes into an AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal, where you encode a Blood Altar or Alchemy Table recipe. Its tooltip shows the altar tier that recipe needs, and Shift + Right Click clears it.[2][6]

Step 4: Build the Blood Assembler
Once you finish Blood Altar V, the book opens a quest in "Blood Magic", a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic". The Blood Assembler is the machine that ties the altar into your ME network. Its screen has a Patterns section and an Upgrade Cards section. The pack adds two Extended Crafting recipes for it.[2][5][6]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)

Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: bmaddon:blood_altar_assembler2
Out of the box in this pack, the Assembler is set up like this, and you can change each value in the config:[7]
- It runs 2 crafts at once without parallel cards: blood_altar_assembler.baseParallelCrafts.[7]
- Each parallel card allows 1 more active craft: blood_altar_assembler.parallelCraftsPerCard.[7]
- The hard cap is 8 active crafts: blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts.[7]
- The base craft time is 60 ticks: blood_altar_assembler.baseCraftTimeTicks.[7]
- Acceleration cards can't push the craft time below 6 ticks: blood_altar_assembler.minCraftTimeTicks.[7]
Step 5: Finish the tier cards, then the generator
The remaining tier cards follow in order: a quest in "Blood Magic" and then a quest in "Blood Magic". Each has a crafting recipe in the pack. The same tier card quests also show up in the Crazy AE2 Addon chapter.[2][4][5]

Save the Blood Generator for last. Its pack recipe is an Extended Crafting recipe that builds on the other addon items and a long list of late-game materials.[5]

How does BloodMagic AE2 Addition work?
4 parts
BMAddon links Blood Magic crafting to Applied Energistics 2 so your ME network can run altar-style recipes for you. In this pack it adds two machines, the Blood Assembler and the Blood Generator, plus a set of upgrade cards and a special pattern item.[1][6]
Blood Patterns
The Blood Pattern starts out empty. Put it in an AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal to encode a Blood Altar or Alchemy Table recipe. Once encoded, its tooltip shows the altar tier the recipe needs.[6]
To wipe an encoded pattern, Shift + Right Click with it. If you try to clear one that is already blank, the game tells you it is already empty. If the recipe a pattern was encoded from is later removed, the tooltip says the recipe no longer exists.[6]

Blood Assembler
The Blood Assembler is the machine that actually runs your encoded patterns. Its screen has a Patterns section and an Upgrade Cards section.[6]
This pack adds two recipes for it, both made in an Extended Crafting table. They use the same layout and differ only in which kind of life-essence fluid tank item they use.[5][8]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)

Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: bmaddon:blood_altar_assembler2
Its behaviour is set in the pack's config file. These are the values this pack uses:[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseCraftTimeTicks is 60 ticks, and blood_altar_assembler.minCraftTimeTicks is 6 ticks. The second one is the floor that acceleration cards can't push the craft time below.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseParallelCrafts is 2, so the machine runs 2 crafts at once with no parallel cards.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.parallelCraftsPerCard is 1 extra active craft per parallel card, and blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts is a hard cap of 8 active crafts in one assembler.[7]
- Power use is blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickBase at 8 AE per active craft each tick, plus blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickPerAccelerationCard at 12 AE per active craft each tick for every acceleration card.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.lifeEssenceMultiplier is 1, so Blood Altar recipes need their normal Life Essence amount.[7]
Upgrade cards
The Blood Speed Card works in the Blood Assembler. It counts as four normal speed cards and can go past the normal AE2 speed limit. The pack makes it in a Blood Altar from an AE2 acceleration card, using an altar recipe with an altarSyphon of 1,000,000 at upgrade level 3.[5][6][9]
The Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card increases the number of simultaneous crafts in the Blood Assembler. The pack makes it in a Blood Altar from an AE2 capacity card, with an altarSyphon of 500,000 at upgrade level 2.[5][6][9]
Altar (bloodmagic)
Recipe id: bmaddon:altar_parallel_card
The tier cards are Blood Altar Tier Card II, Blood Altar Tier Card III, Blood Altar Tier Card IV and Blood Altar Tier Card V. Each one raises the altar tier the assembler works at, and all lower-tier recipes stay available, so you never lose access by upgrading.[6]
Tier Card II can be made two ways in this pack. One is an altar recipe from a Large Bloodstone Brick (altarSyphon 200,000, upgrade level 2). The other is a shapeless crafting recipe from a pack-made block. Cards III, IV and V each have a shapeless crafting recipe from their own pack-made block.[5][9]

Blood Generator
The Blood Generator turns Forge Energy into Life Essence. Its screen shows a Blood tank in mB, an FE bar, and a line like "+X mB for Y FE / Z t." for the current generation settings.[6][7]
In this pack one operation costs 2,147,483,647 FE (blood_generator.energyPerOperation) and produces 1,000,000 mB of Life Essence (blood_generator.lifeEssencePerOperation). It runs every tick, because blood_generator.workIntervalTicks is 1.[7]
Its energy buffer (blood_generator.energyCapacity) holds 2,147,483,647 FE, exactly one operation's worth. The same value is used for the Life Essence tank (blood_generator.lifeTankCapacity), the FE accepted per insertion (blood_generator.maxEnergyInput) and the fluid pushed out per tick (blood_generator.maxFluidOutputPerTick).[7]
blood_generator.autoOutput is on, so the generator pushes Life Essence into adjacent fluid handlers by itself.[7]
The pack crafts the generator in an Extended Crafting table with a very large pattern. It needs the Blood Assembler, Blood Altar Tier Card IV, Blood Altar Tier Card V, the Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card, the Blood Speed Card and a Blood Pattern, so build the assembler and its cards first.[5][10]

How do you progress through BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
4 parts
The add-on's progression lives in the pack's "Blood Magic" quest chapter, which is chapter 29 of 44 in the book, in the "Production" group. It follows the Blood Altar ladder: you climb the altar tiers, and each tier opens up new add-on items. Tier Card quests also show up in the Crazy AE2 Addon chapter, right after it.[2][4]
The altar ladder
- Start with "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest, then build the a quest in "Blood Magic". Everything else in the chapter hangs off it.[2]
- "Blood Altar II" quest comes straight after the first altar, and "Blood Altar III" quest follows it.[2]
- "Blood Altar IV" quest needs Blood Altar III and also the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest.[2]
- "Blood Altar V" quest needs Blood Altar IV and also the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest, which asks for 36 Hellforged Ingots.[2]
What each tier unlocks
- After Blood Altar III: the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest, for Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card.[2]
- After the Sanguine Reverter: the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest, for Blood Pattern.[2]
- After Blood Altar IV: a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic".[2]
- After Blood Altar V: a quest in "Blood Magic", a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic".[2]
- The tier cards then chain in order: a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after Tier Card III, and a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after Tier Card IV. The Crazy AE2 Addon chapter has its own Tier Card III, IV and V quests, so you can pick them up from there too.[2][4]
Crafting the cards
The pack adds altar recipes for the first three cards. Each one has an altar syphon value and an upgrade level, set in the pack's Blood Magic script. The parallel card has a syphon value of 500,000 and upgrade level 2.[5][9]
Altar (bloodmagic)
Recipe id: bmaddon:altar_parallel_card
The speed card is the pricier of the two: a syphon value of 1,000,000 and upgrade level 3.[5][9]
Blood Altar Tier Card II can be made on the altar for a syphon value of 200,000 at upgrade level 2. The pack also adds a shapeless crafting recipe that turns a tier card block into the card.[5][9]
Crafting Shapeless

Tiers III, IV and V use that same shapeless crafting route, each starting from its own tier card block.[5]

The pack also adds altar recipes that turn the tier card 2, 3 and 4 blocks into blood infused versions. They cost a syphon value of 500,000 at upgrade level 3, 1,000,000 at level 4, and 10,000,000 at level 4, in that order.[9]
Unverified How the tier card blocks themselves are crafted, what the blood infused versions are used for, and what each tier card does to the Blood Assembler are not confirmed in the available sources.
Pattern, Assembler and Generator
The Blood Pattern recipe is the mod's own, not one the pack added. It starts from a Weak Blood Shard, which fits with its quest sitting right after the Sanguine Reverter.[2][5]

How does BloodMagic AE2 Addition work with other mods?
6 parts
BMAddon is the bridge between Blood Magic and Applied Energistics 2, and in this pack the bridge reaches further: its recipes pull in AE2 parts, ExtendedAE and Mekanism machines, Extended Crafting tables and a long list of late-game materials.[1][5]
AE2 cards at the Blood Altar
The pack adds Blood Altar recipes that turn AE2 upgrade cards into BMAddon cards, so your Blood Altar is part of the AE2 upgrade path. The same goes for Blood Altar Tier Card II, which starts from a Blood Magic block.[5][9]
The pack's script sets these altar values: the Blood Speed Card recipe has an altarSyphon of 1,000,000 and an upgradeLevel of 3. The Parallel Processing Card has 500,000 and level 2, and Tier Card II has 200,000 and level 2.[9]
Altar (bloodmagic)

Blood Assembler
The Blood Assembler is crafted in an Extended Crafting table, and the pack added both of its recipes. It mixes Blood Magic parts with the Extended Molecular Assembler and a fluid tank. The first recipe uses the Elite Fluid Tank, and the second swaps that tank for the pack's own Fluid Tank Token.[5]

Blood Generator
The Blood Generator is the big crossover. The pack made it an Extended Crafting recipe. It uses a lot of Blood Magic slates and reinforced runes, several BMAddon items, and materials from avaritia, cataclysm, evolvedmekanism, justdirethings, mekanism_extras, mysticalagradditions, mysticalagriculture, nuclearcraft, voidminers and the pack's own KubeJS items. Open the recipe below to see the exact in-pack list.[5]

Tier card blocks
The pack adds shapeless recipes that turn each Blood Altar Tier Card, from II to V, into a KubeJS block and back again. Card II is shown below, and the other tiers have matching recipes.[5]

The pack's script also has Blood Altar recipes that turn the block versions of tier cards II, III and IV into blood-infused blocks.[9]
Where the quest book places it
BMAddon's items sit inside the Blood Magic chapter of the Production group (chapter 29 of 44), not in a chapter of their own. The unlocks follow the Blood Altar tiers:[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after "Blood Altar III" quest.[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic" come after "Blood Altar IV" quest.[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after a quest in "Blood Magic".[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic", a quest in "Blood Magic" and a quest in "Blood Magic" all come after "Blood Altar V" quest. a quest in "Blood Magic" follows the Tier Card III quest, and a quest in "Blood Magic" follows that.[2]
The next chapter, Crazy AE2 Addon (chapter 30 of 44, also in Production), asks for the same tier cards in a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon", a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon" and a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon". That chapter has 39 quests in total, and the rest are in the quest book.[4]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
2 parts
The pack's quest book places this mod's items in the "Production" group, in the Blood Magic chapter (chapter 29 of 44) and the Crazy AE2 Addon chapter (chapter 30 of 44). Neither chapter is dedicated to the mod: its quests sit inside those chapters.[2][4]
Blood Magic chapter
Most of the mod's quests are here. The chapter opens with "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest, then a quest in "Blood Magic", then "Blood Altar II" quest and "Blood Altar III" quest. The mod's quests are placed after the Blood Altar quests in that line.[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after "Blood Altar III" quest and asks for the Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card.[2]
- "Blood Altar IV" quest comes after Blood Altar III and a quest in "Blood Magic". The Sanguine Reverter quest itself comes after "Edge of the Hidden Realm" quest.[2]
- a quest in "Blood Magic" comes after the Sanguine Reverter quest and asks for the Blood Pattern.[2]
- After Blood Altar IV, a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Altar Tier Card II, and a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Speed Card.[2]
- "Blood Altar V" quest comes after both Blood Altar IV and a quest in "Blood Magic". The Hellforged Ingot quest asks for 36 Hellforged Ingots.[2]
Blood Altar V leads to more quests for this mod: a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Generator, a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Assembler, and a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Altar Tier Card III.[2]
The tier cards then continue in a line. a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Altar Tier Card IV and comes after the Tier Card III quest. a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Blood Altar Tier Card V and comes after that one.[2]
Crazy AE2 Addon chapter
Only a few quests here involve this mod. They ask for the same tier cards again, in the same order: a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon" for the Blood Altar Tier Card III, then a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon" for the Blood Altar Tier Card IV, then a quest in "Crazy AE2 Addon" for the Blood Altar Tier Card V.[4]
Each of these also comes after an untitled quest in that chapter. The Tier Card IV quest additionally comes after the Tier Card III quest, and the Tier Card V quest additionally comes after the Tier Card IV quest. The other quests in this chapter are about the Crazy AE2 add-on itself.[4]
Which BloodMagic AE2 Addition config options matter?
2 parts
This mod's options live in config/bmaddon-common.toml, and they come in two groups: the Blood Altar Assembler and the Blood Generator. Here is how this pack sets the ones you are most likely to care about.[7]
Blood Altar Assembler
These options control how many crafts the assembler runs at once, how fast it crafts and how much AE energy it uses.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseParallelCrafts is 2, so the assembler can run 2 crafts at once without parallel cards.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.parallelCraftsPerCard is 1, so each Blood Altar Parallel Card allows 1 more active craft.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts is 8, the hard cap on active crafts in one assembler.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseCraftTimeTicks is 60 ticks, and blood_altar_assembler.minCraftTimeTicks is 6 ticks, which is the minimum craft time after acceleration cards.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickBase is 8 AE per tick for each active craft, and blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickPerAccelerationCard adds 12 AE per tick per acceleration card.[7]
- blood_altar_assembler.lifeEssenceMultiplier is 1. That is the multiplier applied to the Life Essence that Blood Altar recipes require.[7]
Blood Generator
Most of the generator's limits are set to the same huge number, 2,147,483,647.[7]
- blood_generator.lifeEssencePerOperation is 1,000,000 mB of Life Essence generated per operation.[7]
- blood_generator.energyPerOperation, blood_generator.energyCapacity and blood_generator.maxEnergyInput are each set to 2,147,483,647 Forge Energy.[7]
- blood_generator.lifeTankCapacity is 2,147,483,647 mB, and blood_generator.maxFluidOutputPerTick is also 2,147,483,647 mB per tick.[7]
- blood_generator.autoOutput is true, so the generator pushes Life Essence into adjacent fluid handlers by itself.[7]
- blood_generator.workIntervalTicks is 1, so the generator runs every tick.[7]
What changed in BloodMagic AE2 Addition between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships BloodMagic AE2 Addition 1.0.4, using the file bmaddon-1.0.4.jar. The mod was already in the pack in 0.0.50.0 or earlier, so it has been there for a good while.[3]
The only mod changelog available for this version is the one for 1.0.4, and it just points to a single code commit rather than listing the changes in readable form.[11]
Unverified What exactly changed in BloodMagic AE2 Addition 1.0.4, and whether the pack changed anything about this mod in its own releases, is unverified. No pack changelog entries for this mod were available.
