What is AllTheOres?

AllTheOres is part of the pack, and this guide covers the version the pack ships: 2.2.4, built for Minecraft 1.20.1 (file alltheores-1.20.1-47.1.3-2.2.4.jar).[1]

It has been in the pack for a while. The mod list shows it was first included in pack version 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it was already there before the current 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 release.[1]

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

5 parts

AllTheOres adds a huge range of ores, and the first thing to make in this pack is an ore hammer. Several of the mod's recipes ask for one: hammer crushing, diamond parts and a constantan rod all use it.[2][3]

Step 1: Make an ore hammer

The pack has three ore hammers: the Copper Ore Hammer, the Bronze Ore Hammer and the Invar Ore Hammer. The pack changed all three recipes from the mod's own versions, so go by what the recipe blocks below show.[2]

The recipes below accept any item in the ore hammer tag, so you don't need a specific hammer for each one.[2]

Step 2: Put the hammer to work

Hammer crushing gets you something from AllTheOres without any machines. Hammering Peridot Ore gives you 3 Peridot, and you can also crush a peridot gem into Peridot Dust.[2]

Step 3: Craft hammer-made parts

Once you have diamonds, the hammer lets you make a Diamond Plate and a Diamond Rod. A Constantan Rod also needs a hammer.[2]

Step 4: Convert blocks from other mods

The pack adds stonecutter recipes that take other mods' metal blocks as input and give the AllTheOres version. Examples are Bronze Block, Electrum Block, Invar Block, Aluminum Block, Platinum Block, Uranium Block and Tin Block. Tin Block has several different source blocks.[2]

Finally, move on to Mekanism processing

For aluminum and iridium, the mod has a processing chain built on Mekanism machines. Injecting an aluminum ore with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride gives 4 Aluminum Shard. Purifying the same ore with Liquid Oxygen gives 3 Aluminum Clump. Crushing a clump then gives Dirty Aluminum Dust. Iridium follows the same pattern, with 4 Iridium Shard or 3 Iridium Clump per ore.[2]

Purifying (mekanism)

Tip: Raw aluminum works in the injecting machine too: 3 raw aluminum with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride gives 8 Aluminum Shards.[2]

How does AllTheOres work?

4 parts

AllTheOres is mostly a materials mod, and in this pack the machines that process its items come from other mods. The pack's recipe data shows Mekanism doing most of the heavy lifting, with hammers and the stonecutter covering the rest. I'll walk through each of those.[2]

The Mekanism ore chain

The clearest example is aluminum. Putting an aluminum ore through an injecting machine with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride gives you 4 Aluminum Shard. Putting the same ore through a purifying machine with Liquid Oxygen gives you 3 Aluminum Clump. Either way, Mekanism's chemical inputs are what multiply your ore.[2]

Injecting (mekanism)

Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/shard/from_ore

Purifying (mekanism)

Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/clump/from_ore

Raw aluminum blocks work the same way, only bigger: injecting one gives 24 shards and purifying one gives 18 clumps.[2]

The steps also chain together. A crystal goes through injecting with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride to become a shard, and a shard goes through purifying with Liquid Oxygen to become a clump. A crushing machine then turns a clump into Dirty Aluminum Dust. Iridium has the same clump-to-dust crushing step, and it makes Dirty Iridium Dust.[2]

Crushing (mekanism)

  • any aluminum clump

Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/dirty_dust/from_clump

The Aluminum Crystal itself comes from a crystallizing machine. That recipe takes no item inputs, and its id points to slurry as the source.[2]

Crystallizing (mekanism)

    Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/crystal/from_slurry

This isn't just an aluminum thing. The pack's recipe data counts several recipes of each type that make AllTheOres items: crushing (6), crystallizing (6), and larger injecting and purifying groups (18 each, plus 6 more each in a separate Mekanism-only group). Each family covers 6 different results, so the pattern repeats across the metals.[2]

    Ore hammers

Hammers are the low-tech route. Any item in the ore hammer tag works in the recipe for Constantan Rod, so you don't need one specific hammer.[2]

    Unifying blocks with the stonecutter

The pack adds stonecutting recipes that convert other mods' metal blocks into AllTheOres blocks. That's handy for cleaning up duplicates in your storage. The recipe data lists 8 conversions from Thermal blocks (8 different results) and 7 from Chisel and Chipped blocks, all of which become tin.[2]

    • Bronze Block can be cut from Thermal's Block of Bronze.[2]
    • Electrum Block can be cut from Thermal's Block of Electrum.[2]
    • Aluminum Block can be cut from the Aluminum Block from Common Ore Library.[2]
    • Tin Block can be cut from several sources, including Mekanism's Tin Block, NuclearCraft's Tin Block and Chisel and Chipped tin variants.[2]

    Gems

Peridot works as a plain compression recipe. Crafting from the gem gives you a Peridot Block, and breaking a block down gives you 9 Peridot.[2]

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

    3 parts

AllTheOres progression in this pack runs through three things: ore hammers, the Mekanism processing chain, and a set of stonecutting recipes that turn other mods' metal blocks into AllTheOres blocks. Here is how each part works, using the recipes the pack actually has.[2]

    Step 1: Ore hammers

The pack changed the recipes for five hammers: Iron Ore Hammer, Copper Ore Hammer, Bronze Ore Hammer, Invar Ore Hammer and Platinum Ore Hammer. Here are the exact in-pack recipes.[2]

Any hammer in the ore hammer tag works for the recipes that follow. Crushing peridot ore with a hammer gives you 3 Peridot. The pack changed the hammer recipes for Peridot Dust (from a peridot gem) and Netherite Dust (from a netherite ingot). Peridot also packs down into a Peridot Block and back out into 9 gems.[2]

Hammers also make parts: Diamond Plate and Diamond Rod from a diamond, plus the Constantan Rod, Enderium Rod and Lumium Rod from their ingots. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes.[2]

    Step 2: Mekanism ore processing

Next comes the Mekanism chain. The sources list these as the mod's own recipes, and the pack hasn't changed them. Aluminum and iridium show the full set, including raw ore. Nickel, platinum and silver show the shard, clump, dirty dust and crystal steps.[2]

    1. Injecting an ore with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride gives 4 shards. For aluminum that is Aluminum Shard, and for iridium it is Iridium Shard.[2]
    2. Purifying an ore with Liquid Oxygen gives 3 clumps, such as Aluminum Clump or Iridium Clump.[2]
    3. Raw materials work too. 3 raw aluminum or iridium with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride give 8 shards, and a single raw one with Liquid Oxygen gives 2 clumps. A raw block gives 24 shards with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride, or 18 clumps with Liquid Oxygen.[2]
    4. Shards can be purified into clumps. Crushing a clump gives a dirty dust, for example Dirty Nickel Dust, Dirty Platinum Dust or Dirty Silver Dust.[2]
    5. Crystallizing needs no item input and gives crystals such as Nickel Crystal, Platinum Crystal and Silver Crystal. Injecting a crystal with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride turns it back into a shard.[2]

    Injecting (mekanism)

    Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/shard/from_ore

Aluminum is the example, and iridium follows the same pattern.

    Step 3: Block unification

The pack adds stonecutting recipes that convert other mods' metal blocks into AllTheOres blocks. Thermal has 8 of them, including Bronze Block, Electrum Block, Invar Block, Lead Block and Nickel Block. Aluminum Block and Platinum Block come from Common Ore Library blocks, and Uranium Block from the Mekanism block.[2]

    Bronze BlockAdded by the pack

    Stonecutting

    Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/alltheores_bronze_block

Tin Block has the most routes. It can be made from the Mekanism, NuclearCraft and Common Ore Library tin blocks, and from 7 Chisel Chipped Integration tin variants.[2]

    Tin BlockAdded by the pack

    Stonecutting

    Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/alltheores_tin_block

Tip: If you already have a metal block from another mod, put it in a stonecutter and you get the AllTheOres version instead of crafting it again.[2]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

    2 parts

AllTheOres connects to other mods in two ways in this pack: its ore processing hooks into Mekanism, and the pack adds stonecutting recipes so its metal blocks can be swapped with the matching blocks from other mods.[2]

    Mekanism ore processing

The mod ships its own recipes for Mekanism's injecting and purifying recipe types. Injecting with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride makes shards. Purifying with Liquid Oxygen makes clumps. These come from the mod itself, not from the pack.[2]

Aluminum, iridium, nickel and platinum share the same set of recipes, and silver follows the same pattern for ore, raw blocks, crystals and shards. Here is what you get:[2]

    • One ore gives 4 shards with hydrogen chloride, or 3 clumps with oxygen.[2]
    • For aluminum, iridium, nickel and platinum, 3 raw materials give 8 shards with hydrogen chloride, and a single raw material gives 2 clumps with oxygen.[2]
    • One raw block gives 24 shards with hydrogen chloride, or 18 clumps with oxygen.[2]
    • A Mekanism crystal becomes one shard with hydrogen chloride, and a shard becomes one clump with oxygen.[2]

Zinc has the crystal to shard and shard to clump steps, giving Zinc Shard and Zinc Clump. For the other metals the products are Aluminum Shard, Iridium Shard, Nickel Shard, Platinum Shard and Silver Shard, plus the matching clumps such as Aluminum Clump.[2]

    Injecting (mekanism)

    Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/shard/from_ore

Aluminum ore turned into 4 Aluminum Shards in Mekanism's injecting process.

    Purifying (mekanism)

    Recipe id: alltheores:mek_processing/aluminum/clump/from_ore

Aluminum ore turned into 3 Aluminum Clumps in Mekanism's purifying process.

    Swapping metal blocks between mods

Several mods add their own version of the same metal block. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that convert each of them into the AllTheOres block, and back again.[2]

    Tin BlockAdded by the pack

    Stonecutting

    Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/alltheores_tin_block_11

Stonecutting recipe the pack adds to turn the Thermal tin block into the AllTheOres tin block.

Tip: Tin has the most conversions in this pack: Thermal, Mekanism, NuclearCraft, Common Ore Library and the Chisel Chipped variants can all be turned into the AllTheOres tin block. If you end up with a mix of tin blocks, run them through a stonecutter.[2]
