What is RFTools Power?
2 parts
RFTools Power is an addon for the RFTools mods that adds ways to generate and store power. It needs RFTools Base to run. This pack includes version 1.21-7.0.6.[1][2]
What it adds
- A simple generator that burns coal or charcoal, the Coal Generator.[1][3]
- A generator that runs on blaze rods.[1]
- The Endergenic, a generator that runs on ender pearls.[1][3]
- A dimensional powercell that stores power and sends it across great distances, even between dimensions.[1]
- A power storage multiblock for when you need to store more power.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack gives this mod its own "power" quest chapter. One quest asks for the Coal Generator ("Basic Coal Generator" quest). Another accepts any of the three powercell tiers: Powercell (Low), Powercell (Medium) or Powercell (High) ("Powercells" quest).[3]
The ender power line has its own quest. It asks for the Endergenic, the Pearl Injector, the Ender Monitor and a Sequencer from RFTools Utility (a quest in "Power"). The storage line has a quest for the Powercell Card and the three dimensional cells: Dimensional Cell, Dimensional Cell (Simple) and Dimensional Cell (Advanced) ("Dimensional Cells" quest).[3]
How do you get started with RFTools Power?
4 parts
RFTools Power is an addon for the RFTools mods that adds power generators and power storage. It requires RFTools Base. In this pack, a few of its recipes have been changed or added, so check the recipe blocks below instead of relying on what you remember from other packs.[1][5]
Step one: the Coal Generator
Your first build is the Coal Generator. It is the simple generator that runs on coal or charcoal, which makes it the easiest way into the mod. The pack added its own recipe for it, so this is the one you need to follow.[1][5]

The generator is also covered by quests. The power chapter has a quest for the Coal Generator "Basic Coal Generator" quest. In the first World Engine tier "Infusing Metals" quest it is one of three accepted generator options, alongside a Mekanism heat generator and a Just Dire Things generator.[3][4]
Step two: add storage with a Powercell
Next, give your power somewhere to go. The Powercell comes in three tiers: Powercell (Low), Powercell (Medium) and Powercell (High). A quest in the power chapter accepts any one of them "Powercells" quest, so the Low tier is enough to tick it off.[3][5]
Every cell needs a matching Power Core, and the pack changed all three core recipes. Start with Power Core (Low). Its recipe is not the mod default.[5]

The Medium and High cells are built on top of the previous tier, so you work up from Low. Their cores, Power Core (Medium) and Power Core (High), also have pack-changed recipes.[5]
Step three: move up to Dimensional Cells
The mod also has a Dimensional Cell, which can store and transfer power across great distances and even between dimensions. A quest in the power chapter "Dimensional Cells" quest covers the Powercell Card, Dimensional Cell (Simple), Dimensional Cell and Dimensional Cell (Advanced).[1][3]
In this pack you upgrade the Simple cell into the normal Dimensional Cell with a recipe the pack added. The Advanced cell then uses the normal mod recipe.[5]

Later: blaze and ender power
Once the basics are running, the mod offers two more generators. The Blazing Generator runs on blaze rods, and the Endergenic runs on ender pearls. The pack changed the Endergenic recipe, and it also changed the Blazing Infuser recipe.[1][5]

The Endergenic quest a quest in "Power" also asks for the Pearl Injector, the Ender Monitor and an RFTools Utility Sequencer.[3]
How does RFTools Power work?
7 parts
RFTools Power is an addon for the RFTools mods that adds power generators and power storage. You get a coal generator, a blazing generator that runs on blaze rods, an endergenic that runs on ender pearls, a dimensional powercell and a multiblock powercell. It needs RFTools Base to work.[1]
Coal Generator
The Coal Generator is the simplest generator. It produces RF/FE from coal or charcoal. In this pack it generates 60 RF per tick, and each coal lasts 600 ticks. It stores up to 500,000 RF and can send 2,000 RF per tick out. It can also charge items at 1,000 RF per tick. All of these values match the mod defaults.[6][7]
The values are set in general.coalgenerator.generatePerTick, general.coalgenerator.ticksPerCoal, general.coalgenerator.generatorMaxRF, general.coalgenerator.generatorRFPerTick and general.coalgenerator.generatorChargePerTick.[7]
The pack adds its own crafting recipe for this generator:[5][8]

Blazing Generator chain
Blaze rod power takes three machines. The Blazing Agitator 'agitates' blaze rods so the Blazing Generator can use them. The Blazing Infuser can then infuse a blazing rod with dimensional shards, redstone or glowstone dust. That improves the power production, the duration of the production, or both, once the rod is used in the generator.[6]
The generator stores up to 1,000,000 RF and gives at most 20,000 RF per side per tick to adjacent machines. The agitator and the infuser each store 50,000 RF, accept 100 RF per tick per side, and use 10 RF per tick while working. The pack leaves all of these at the mod defaults.[7]
The generator and the agitator use the mod's recipes. The infuser's recipe is changed by the pack.[5]

Endergenic
The Endergenic generates power from ender pearls. You need at least two generators for it to work, the setup is relatively complicated, and timing is crucial. The Pearl Injector injects an ender pearl into an adjacent endergenic when it receives a redstone signal. The Ender Monitor detects changes in an adjacent endergenic and sends out a redstone signal based on them.[6]
The pack changes two endergenic values. general.endergenic.powergenFactor is 2.2 here (mod default 2), and general.endergenic.endergenicSendPerTick is 50,000 RF per tick (mod default 20,000). So the pack's endergenic generates more and pushes power out faster than the stock one.[7]
Holding a pearl costs power. Each endergenic keeps 2,000 RF for itself so it can hold pearls, and 500 RF is consumed every tick to hold one. The chance of losing a pearl while holding it is 5, measured in 1/10 percent (1000 would be 100%). The maximum storage is 5,000,000 RF. These values are unchanged from the mod defaults.[7]
- general.endergenic.endergenicKeepRf: the RF each endergenic keeps for itself.[7]
- general.endergenic.endergenicRfHolding: the RF used per tick to hold a pearl.[7]
- general.endergenic.endergenicChanceLost: the chance of losing a pearl while holding it.[7]
The pack changes the endergenic's recipe. The pearl injector and the ender monitor use the mod's recipes.[5]

Powercell multiblock
Powercell (Low), Powercell (Medium) and Powercell (High) store power and can be joined with other cells to form one big multiblock. Right click a side with a wrench to toggle input or output mode for it.[6]
A single network can hold at most 729 blocks. Each cell holds and moves this much:[7]
- Low: 500,000 RF, with 250 RF per tick per side.[7]
- Medium: 4,000,000 RF, with 1,000 RF per tick per side.[7]
- High: 20,000,000 RF, with 4,000 RF per tick per side.[7]
Every cell also gets extra RF per tick for each cell in the network. general.powercell.rfPerTickScale controls this and is 0.25 here. A value of 0 means constant RF per tick, and 1 means it grows linearly with the number of cells. The pack keeps all the powercell values at their mod defaults. The limits are in general.powercell.tier1MaxRF, general.powercell.tier2MaxRF and general.powercell.tier3MaxRF, plus the matching MaxRFPerTick keys and general.powercell.networkMax.[7]
The pack changes the recipes for Power Core (Low), Power Core (Medium) and Power Core (High), the cores used for powercells.[5][6]

Dimensional Cell
The Dimensional Cell stores power, optionally in a big multi dimensional structure. It can move power across great distances and between dimensions. A Powercell Card is used to connect dimensional cells.[1][6]
There are three tiers: Dimensional Cell (Simple), the regular cell and Dimensional Cell (Advanced). A regular cell stores 1,000,000 RF (general.dimensionalcell.rfPerNormalCell) and moves 5,000 RF per tick (general.dimensionalcell.rfPerTick). The simple cell is 4 times worse in both RF and RF per tick, and the advanced cell is 4 times better (general.dimensionalcell.advancedFactor). Cells charge items at 30,000 RF per tick (general.dimensionalcell.powercellChargePerTick). All of this matches the mod defaults.[6][7]
The pack adds an upgrade recipe that turns a simple cell into the regular cell. The advanced cell uses the mod's recipe.[5][8]

Distance cost
Pulling power out of a cell has a cost that depends on distance. The cost factor is at its maximum at 10,000 blocks, and that distance is also used when power comes from a cell in a different dimension. The maximum cost factor is 1.1. When cells are not connected, 100 blocks is taken as the minimum distance. If an RFTools dimension is involved the distance is multiplied by 0.5, and if both sides are RFTools dimensions the multiplier is applied twice. These are the mod defaults.[7]

- general.dimensionalcell.powerCellDistanceCap[7]
- general.dimensionalcell.powerCellMinDistance[7]
- general.dimensionalcell.powerCellRFToolsDimensionAdvantage[7]
Reading power with redstone
The Power Monitor sends a redstone signal depending on the amount of power in its target block. The Power Level shows a digit for the amount of power in something and sends a redstone signal with the same amount. Both use the mod's recipes.[5][6]

How do you progress through RFTools Power?
5 parts
The pack's power chapter has four quests that cover this mod. Together they work as a rough tier ladder: a basic generator, powercells, the Endergenic setup, and dimensional cells. The quests don't say what order to do them in, so the order below follows the recipes instead.[3]
Tier 1: Coal Generator
Your first power source is the Coal Generator, and quest "Basic Coal Generator" quest asks you to craft it. The pack added its own recipe for it, so use the one below.[3][5]

It also shows up in the World Engine Tier 1 chapter. Quest "Infusing Metals" quest accepts the Coal Generator, a Mekanism Heat Generator or a Just Dire Things generator as its first task, so you have some choice there.[4]
Storing power: Powercells
Quest "Powercells" quest accepts any of Powercell (Low), Powercell (Medium) or Powercell (High). The three Power Cores are the tier gates, and the pack changed all three recipes. Don't rely on mod-default recipes you may remember from other packs.[3][5]

How does RFTools Power work with other mods?
5 parts
RFTools Power is an addon for the RFTools mods and needs RFTools Base. In this pack it also reaches into other mods through a handful of pack-made recipes and a few quests. Here is where the connections are.[1][3][4][5]
Dimensional Cell upgrade path
The pack adds its own recipe for turning a Dimensional Cell (Simple) into a full Dimensional Cell. It needs items from outside the RFTools family: Charged Redstone Crystal and Electrum Plate.[5]
Shaped (kubejs)

This recipe is added by the pack.
The step after that, the Dimensional Cell (Advanced), uses the mod's own recipe and only needs RFTools Base items and vanilla items.[5]
Coal Generator
The Coal Generator has a recipe added by the pack, so you craft it differently from the mod's default.[5]

World Engine machine
A pack-added Custom Machinery recipe in the world engine uses a Dimensional Cell (Simple) together with a Dimensional Shard Gem and a Steel Casing.[5]
Quest links
In the World Engine tier 1 chapter, one quest accepts the Coal Generator, the Heat Generator or the Simple Coal Generator as its generator task. The same quest also asks for a Metallurgic Infuser and a Dielectric Casing. See "Infusing Metals" quest.[4]
In the power chapter, a quest in "Power" groups the Endergenic, Pearl Injector and Ender Monitor with the Sequencer from RFTools Utility.[3]
The other power chapter quests stay inside this mod. "Dimensional Cells" quest covers the Powercell Card and the Dimensional Cell tiers, "Basic Coal Generator" quest covers the Coal Generator, and "Powercells" quest accepts any of the three Powercell tiers.[3]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use RFTools Power?
2 parts
RFTools Power appears in two quest chapters in this pack: the power chapter, which has four quests built around this mod, and the World Engine Tier 1 chapter, where it is one of several options. The quests have no titles in the quest files, so they are identified by their IDs below.[3][4]
The power chapter
Every task in this chapter's four quests is an item task. The quests are listed here in the order the chapter file gives them.[3]
- a quest in "Power" asks for four items: the Endergenic, the Pearl Injector, the Ender Monitor and the Sequencer from RFTools Utility.[3]
- "Dimensional Cells" quest asks for the Powercell Card, the Dimensional Cell, the Dimensional Cell (Simple) and the Dimensional Cell (Advanced).[3]
- "Basic Coal Generator" quest asks for a single item, the Coal Generator.[3]
- "Powercells" quest accepts any one of the three Powercell tiers: Powercell (Low), Powercell (Medium) or Powercell (High).[3]
The chapter listing shows no prerequisite quests for these four, so the sources here do not give a required order inside the chapter.[3]
The World Engine Tier 1 chapter
In "Infusing Metals" quest the first task accepts any one of three generators: the Heat Generator from Mekanism Generators, the Simple Coal Generator from Just Direct Things, or the Coal Generator from this mod. So you do not have to use RFTools Power here. The quest also asks for the Metallurgic Infuser and the Dielectric Casing.[4]
This quest comes after two other quests in the same chapter, so you reach it later in that chapter.[4]
Which RFTools Power config options matter?
6 parts
All of RFTools Power's settings live in one file, config/rftoolspower-server.toml, and the good news is that this pack leaves nearly all of it at the mod default. The only changes are on the endergenic generator.[7]
What the pack changed
- general.endergenic.endergenicSendPerTick is 50,000 in this pack. The mod default is 20,000. This is how much RF per tick the endergenic can push from its internal buffer to adjacent blocks, so it can hand off power much faster.[7]
- general.endergenic.powergenFactor is 2.2 in this pack. The mod default is 2. It is a multiplier on power generation, so the endergenic produces a bit more than it would in a default setup.[7]
Endergenic settings left at default
The rest of the endergenic is stock. general.endergenic.endergenicMaxPower is 5,000,000, and general.endergenic.endergenicKeepRf is 2,000, the RF each endergenic keeps for itself so it can hold pearls. Holding a pearl costs 500 RF every tick (general.endergenic.endergenicRfHolding). general.endergenic.endergenicChanceLost is 5, measured in tenths of a percent, and it sets the chance of losing a pearl while holding it.[7]
Power cells
The multiblock power cells use the mod defaults. Each tier has its own capacity and per-side transfer limit:[7]
- Tier 1 holds 500,000 RF (general.powercell.tier1MaxRF) and moves 250 RF/t per side (general.powercell.tier1MaxRFPerTick).[7]
- Tier 2 holds 4,000,000 RF (general.powercell.tier2MaxRF) and moves 1,000 RF/t per side (general.powercell.tier2MaxRFPerTick).[7]
- Tier 3 holds 20,000,000 RF (general.powercell.tier3MaxRF) and moves 4,000 RF/t per side (general.powercell.tier3MaxRFPerTick).[7]
A single network can have up to 729 blocks (general.powercell.networkMax). general.powercell.rfPerTickScale is 0.25, which controls how much extra RF/t every cell gets for each cell in the network.[7]
Dimensional cell
Each cell holds 1,000,000 RF (general.dimensionalcell.rfPerNormalCell), with a base transfer of 5,000 RF/t (general.dimensionalcell.rfPerTick). The simple cell is 4 times worse (general.dimensionalcell.simpleFactor) and the advanced cell 4 times better (general.dimensionalcell.advancedFactor).[7]
Pulling power from another dimension or from far away costs extra. The maximum cost factor is 1.1 (general.dimensionalcell.powerCellCostFactor), reached at 10,000 blocks (general.dimensionalcell.powerCellDistanceCap). The same cap applies when the cells are in different dimensions. Unconnected cells use a minimum distance of 100 (general.dimensionalcell.powerCellMinDistance). All of these are mod defaults.[7]
Coal generator
The coal generator makes 60 RF per tick (general.coalgenerator.generatePerTick), and each coal lasts 600 ticks (general.coalgenerator.ticksPerCoal). It stores up to 500,000 RF (general.coalgenerator.generatorMaxRF) and sends 2,000 RF per tick (general.coalgenerator.generatorRFPerTick). These are defaults too.[7]
Blazing generator, agitator and infuser
The blazing generator stores 1,000,000 RF (general.blazing.blazingGeneratorMaxPower) and sends 20,000 per side per tick (general.blazing.blazingGeneratorSendPerTick). Neither was changed.[7]
The blazing agitator stores 50,000 RF (general.blazing.blazingAgitatorMaxPower), accepts 100 RF per tick per side (general.blazing.blazingAgitatorRFPerTick) and uses 10 RF per tick while operating (general.blazing.blazingAgitatorUsePerTick). None of these were changed by the pack.[7]
The blazing infuser has the same numbers: 50,000 RF stored (general.blazing.blazingInfuserMaxPower), 100 RF per tick per side in (general.blazing.blazingInfuserRFPerTick) and 10 RF per tick used while operating (general.blazing.blazingInfuserUsePerTick). The pack did not change them.[7]
What changed in RFTools Power between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships RFTools Power 1.21-7.0.6. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[2]
RFTools Power 1.21-7.0.6
The only change in the mod's own changelog for the version you're playing is that the Patchouli manual documentation was updated and expanded. If you're unsure how something works, the in-game manual is a good place to look.[2][9]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for RFTools Power were available, so any changes to the mod between pack releases are unverified.
