What is Just Dyna Things?

2 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for JustDireThings that adds new blocks and items on top of it. This pack includes version 1.14.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Anvils: Ferricore, BlazeGold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy anvils repair gear without spending experience. Ferricore uses catalysts, BlazeGold uses high temperature fluids and Celestigem uses Forge Energy. Eclipse Alloy also uses Forge Energy, and adding a coolant changes how it repairs.[3][4][5][6][7]
  • Echoing buddings: budding blocks that only need Time Fluid and energy to grow clusters. There are versions for Amethyst, Certus, Entro, Phasorite and Echoing Budding Time.[8][9][10][11][12][13]
  • Goos: new goo tiers, including Energized goos that need Forge Energy to stay alive, plus Creative Goo, a goo that cannot die and can be toggled with any wrench.[14][15][16]
  • Machines and utility blocks: the Paradox Mixer mass-crafts fluid drop recipes and needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive. The Stabilizer also revives goo on top of it using Forge Energy. You also get the Phase Box, a block whose solid state you can toggle, plus the Reforger, the BlackHole and the Ferricore Clock.[17][18][19][20][21][22]
  • Power: a Thermo Generator that makes Forge Energy from a heat source block and a fluid coolant, plus a set of solar panels that generate Forge Energy based on ambient conditions.[23][24]
  • Wands: the Picker Wand picks up a block so you can place it elsewhere, and the Swapper Wand swaps a block with another without removing it from the world. The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded time wand with more capacity and modes for its click action. There is also a Temporal Stupefy Wand.[25][26][27][28][29]

Where it sits in the quest book

In the useful_items_tips chapter, three quests use this mod's items. One asks for the Picker Wand or Swapper Wand (a quest in "?"). One asks for the JustDireThings time wand or the Advanced Time Wand (a quest in "?"). One asks for the Phase Box (a quest in "?").[30]

In the creative chapter, one quest asks for the Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time, and it comes after quest 25CCA572C4D5CEA0 (a quest in "?"). Creative Goo is one of the tasks in a separate creative-items quest that comes after that quest and nine others (a quest in "?"). The same list of tasks also appears in the thebackrooms chapter, after quest 25CCA572C4D5CEA0 (a quest in "?").[31][32]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses this mod is not shown in the sources here. The quest chapters above are the only placements they confirm.

How do you get started with Just Dyna Things?

6 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things that adds new items on top of it. The recipes in this pack mostly use Just Dire Things materials, so you will be working with both mods side by side. Here is a sensible order for your first crafts, following the quests the pack gives you.[2][33]

Step 1: Picker Wand and Swapper Wand

Start with the wands. The Picker Wand lets you pick up a block and place it where you want, and the Swapper Wand swaps a block for another without removing it from the world. The pack has a quest that accepts either one: a quest in "?".[27][29][30]

Step 2: Phase Box

The Phase Box (also called Ethereal Glass) is a block you can toggle between its solid and non-solid state. It has its own quest in the same chapter as the wands, a quest in "?".[20][30]

Step 3: Advanced Time Wand

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded Time Wand from Just Dire Things, with more capacity and modes that change how strong the click action is. The quest a quest in "?" accepts either the regular Time Wand or this one. The default modes are Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed, and they can be modified or disabled in the config. In Max Speed the click action is always 256x.[26][30]

Step 4: Stabilizer

The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using Forge Energy. It can also keep a Paradox Mixer alive when it is energized with Time Fluid. This pack adds its own recipe for it.[22][33]

This recipe is added by the pack.

Step 5: Paradox Mixer

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that lets you mass-craft fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive, which is why the Stabilizer comes first.[19]

Step 6: Echoing Budding Time

Echoing buddings are a new way to farm budding resources, and they only need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters. The Echoing Budding Time is a good one to aim for, because the quest a quest in "?" in the creative chapter asks for it together with the Stabilizer and the Paradox Mixer.[8][13][31]

Tip: The pack also changed the recipes for the Echoing Budding Certus and the Echoing Budding Entro. If you plan to farm those, check the in-pack recipes rather than trusting the mod's defaults.[33]

How does Just Dyna Things work?

8 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, and most of its machines follow one pattern: a block that eats Forge Energy (FE), sometimes a fluid too, and does one specific job. This page walks through how each system works in this pack. The pack keeps most values at the mod defaults, and I'll flag the ones it changed.[2][34]

Stabilizer and goo

The Stabilizer revives any goo sitting on top of it, using Forge Energy. It can also keep a Paradox Mixer alive when you feed it Time Fluid.[22]

All of those Stabilizer values match the mod defaults. You can turn off its revive sound with 2-blocks.stabilizer_emit_sound.[34]

The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the Stabilizer, so it is not the mod's default recipe.[33]

The mod adds extra goo tiers. Energized Goo needs Forge Energy to stay alive and sits at tier 5. The Energized Primogel, Blazebloom, VoidShimmer and ShadowPulse goos are energy versions of the existing goos, at tiers 1 to 4 in that order. Creative Goo cannot die, can be toggled with any wrench, and is tier MAX.[15][16][35][36][37][38]

The pack's config leaves every goo tier at the mod default.[34]

Paradox Mixer

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that lets you mass-craft fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive, and Time Fluid is what energizes that Stabilizer.[19][22]

Echoing Buddings

Echoing Buddings grow clusters using only Time Fluid and Forge Energy. There are versions for Amethyst, Time, Certus (flawless), Entro (flawless) and Phasorite. Minecraft and Just Dire Things are the base support. Applied Energistics 2, Extended AE and Phasorite Networks are the extra compat.[8][9][10][11][12][13]

The pack leaves all of those at the mod defaults. 3-echoing_budding.echoing_budding_random_energy_cost and 3-echoing_budding.echoing_budding_random_fluid_cost are both enabled, and their descriptions say there is a chance to apply the cost when a cluster grows.[34]

The pack changed the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro. The Amethyst and Time versions keep the mod recipes.[33]

Blackhole

The Blackhole is the mod's universal trash can. It can be switched off so it stores an abnormal amount of energy or fluid in very little space.[17][33]

In this pack, 2-blocks.blackhole_keep_content is true, so it keeps its stored contents when redstone disables it.[34]

Repair anvils

The anvils repair items without using experience. Each one uses a different resource.[3]

  • Ferricore Anvil repairs tools using certain catalysts.[7]
  • Blazegold Anvil repairs items using high-temperature fluids.[4]
  • Celestigem Anvil repairs items using Forge Energy.[5]
  • Eclipse Alloy Anvil also uses Forge Energy. If you add a coolant, it repairs based on coolant-efficiency / 100 x total-damage, and the description says it can restore more than 1000 per tick or repair the item completely.[6]

Power generation

The Thermo Generator makes Forge Energy from a heat source block plus a fluid coolant. The in-game guide gives FE generation as 125 x CoolantEfficiency x HeatEfficiency, and the mB cost as 125 / CoolantEfficiency. It also says this may be simplified in the future.[23]

The pack's storage setting, 2-blocks.thermo_generator_max_energy_storage, is 1,000,000 FE, the mod default.[34]

Solar panels generate Forge Energy from environmental conditions. The guide lists these default maximum rates and conditions, and says everything can be changed in the config.[24][39][40][41][42]

  • Ferricore: 240 FE, Overworld only, needs sky view and daytime.[42]
  • BlazeGold: 960 FE, Nether.[39]
  • Celestigem: 3840 FE, needs sky view, and produces more when other solar panels are nearby.[40]
  • Eclipse Alloy: 11520 FE, produces more with nearby panels, and its multiplier rises at high or low Y-levels and drops at middle Y-levels.[41]

Utility blocks

The Ferricore Clock is a fully configurable redstone clock. You program it to power redstone components on any side at a specific game tick, and you can disable sides so it doesn't power things you don't want. In this pack, 2-blocks.ferricore_clock_require_wrench is false, so you don't need a wrench to change a face's state.[18][34]

The Phase Box (Ethereal Glass) can be toggled between solid and non-solid. It supports connected textures when Fusion is installed. 2-blocks.phase_box_require_wrench is also false here, so no wrench is needed to toggle it.[20][34]

The Reforger converts an input block placed on its red face into an output block, at the cost of a catalyst. Recipe viewers show these conversion types: block to block, block to tag and tag to block.[21][43]

Wands

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded Time Wand with more capacity and several click-action modes. Normal works like a regular wand. Speed 2x gives 4 > 16 > 64 > 256, Speed 4x gives 16 > 256, and Max Speed works 8x, so it will be 256x every time. The modes can be modified or disabled in the config.[26]

The pack raises the wand's fluid capacity (7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_fluid_storage) to 8,000,000 mB, up from the mod default of 800,000.[34]

How do you progress through Just Dyna Things?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is a JustDireThings addon, so a lot of what you craft here builds on Just Dire Things materials. In the quest book, its items show up in the useful items chapter and in the creative chapter. Here is the path, from utility tools to the endgame.[2][30][31]

Early tier: wands and utility blocks

Your first Just Dyna Things quest asks for a Picker Wand or a Swapper Wand (a quest in "?"). The Picker Wand picks up a block and places it where you want. The Swapper Wand swaps a block with another one without removing it from the world.[27][29][30]

Next, a quest in "?" accepts either the Just Dire Things time wand or the Advanced Time Wand. The Advanced Time Wand has more capacity and extra modes. By default these are Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed, which the guide says works at 8x, reaching 256x. The in-game guide says the modes can be modified or disabled in the config.[26][30]

Mid tier: anvils and power

The mod adds four anvils that repair items without using experience. The guide lists them in this order:[3][4][5][6][7]

The mod's solar panels follow the same four materials. Their default max FE rates are 240 for Ferricore, 960 for Blazegold, 3,840 for Celestigem and 11,520 for Eclipse Alloy. Each panel has its own default conditions, such as dimension, sky access, nearby panels or Y-level.[39][40][41][42]

Watch out: Those solar panel numbers are the mod's defaults. The guide itself says everything can be changed in configs, and nothing I have shows the pack's actual values, so check in game.[39][40][41][42]

Goo tiers

The mod adds Energized goos that need Forge Energy to stay alive, ranked by tier level:[14][16]

  • Energized Primogel Goo is tier 1.[35]
  • Energized Blazebloom Goo is tier 2.[36]
  • Energized VoidShimmer Goo is tier 3.[37]
  • Energized ShadowPulse Goo is tier 4.[38]
  • Energized Goo is tier 5.[16]
  • Creative Goo is tier MAX. It cannot die, and you can toggle it with any wrench.[15]

Endgame: Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Buddings

a quest in "?" in the creative chapter asks for three items: the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time.[31]

The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using FE. This pack adds its own recipe for it.[22][33]

This recipe is added by the pack.

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer (using Time Fluid) to stay alive.[19][22]

Echoing Buddings are buddings that only need Time Fluid and energy to grow clusters.[8][13]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: justdynathings:echoing_budding_time

Three more variants use the same idea and grow clusters on Forge Energy and Time Fluid: Echoing Budding Certus, Echoing Budding Entro and Echoing Budding Amethyst. Their recipes are shown below.[9][10][11]

The end of the line is Creative Goo. It is one of nine items in a quest in "?", which comes after the Stabilizer quest and several others, and in a quest in "?" in the thebackrooms chapter.[31][32]

How does Just Dyna Things work with other mods?

5 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so that's where most of its connections in this pack come from. Almost every crafted item here is built on Just Dire Things materials, and a few recipes also pull in Minecraft item tags or AE-style budding blocks.[2][33]

Just Dire Things upgrades

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgrade of the Time Wand from Just Dire Things. The pack's quest for these wands accepts either one: a quest in "?".[30][33]

The Blackhole is the universal trash can of the mod, and it can be turned off to store large amounts of energy or fluid in a small space. Its recipe uses Just Dire Things materials.[17][33]

Paradox Mixer and Stabilizer

The Paradox Mixer mass-crafts fluid drop recipes, and it needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive. Its recipe is built around Just Dire Things' Paradox Machine and Portal Fluid Bucket.[19][33]

The Stabilizer revives goo on top of it using Forge Energy. In this pack its recipe is added by the pack itself and uses the Just Dire Things Simple Swapper as part of the crafting.[22][33]

Quest a quest in "?" in the creative chapter asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time.[31]

Wands

The Picker Wand has a recipe changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default. The Swapper Wand uses the mod's own recipe. Both are built on Just Dire Things materials, and quest a quest in "?" accepts either of them.[30][33]

Echoing buddings and AE blocks

Echoing buddings grow clusters using Time Fluid and energy. Each recipe uses the Just Dire Things Polymorphic Catalyst and a Echo Shard, plus a regular budding block of the matching type.[8][33]

The pack changed the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro. They accept any block from the mod's Applied Energistics 2 and Extended AE budding tags respectively.[8][33]

Unverified The in-game guide lists Phasorite Networks as supported for buddings, but no in-pack recipe for the Phasorite budding was available, so it is unconfirmed whether it can be crafted in this pack.

Other connections

The Phase Box can be toggled between solid and non-solid. The mod's guide says it gets connected textures when Fusion is installed. The pack has a quest for it: a quest in "?".[20][30]

Creative Goo shows up in the pack's creative-item quests, alongside creative-tier items from other mods such as the Create creative motor and the Ars Nouveau creative source jar. See a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[31][32]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Just Dyna Things?

3 parts

Just Dyna Things shows up in the useful_items_tips, creative and thebackrooms quest chapters in this pack. The quests are untitled in the pack data, so they appear here by their quest references.[30][31][32]

useful_items_tips

The quests in this chapter that involve the mod have no prerequisites listed in the pack data, so the sources here do not show a set order for them.[30]

creative

The creative chapter has quests for this mod that are chained together. a quest in "?" comes after an earlier quest in the chapter and asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time.[31]

a quest in "?" comes later. It unlocks only after a long list of earlier quests, and a quest in "?" is one of them. It is a big collection quest with creative items from several mods, including the Creative Goo from this mod and the creative motor from Create.[31]

thebackrooms

a quest in "?" in the thebackrooms chapter lists the same set of creative items as a quest in "?", including the Creative Goo. It only requires a single earlier quest, which is also a prerequisite of both quests in the creative chapter.[31][32]

Tip: In the creative chapter, finish the Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time quest before the Creative Goo collection quest, because the collection quest requires it.[31]

Which Just Dyna Things config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.12.0 guide

Good news: this pack leaves almost all of Just Dyna Things at the mod's own numbers. Among the options where the config file lists a mod default, the only one marked as changed by the pack is the Advanced Time Wand fluid capacity. The rest of this section covers that change and the settings worth checking.[44]

The value the pack changed

The fluid capacity of the Advanced Time Wand, 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_fluid_storage, is set to 8,000,000 MB in this pack. The mod default is 800,000 MB, so the wand gets a much bigger tank here than it would in a stock install.[44]

The wand's energy capacity, 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_energy_storage, stays at the default 10,000,000 FE.[44]

Time wand speeds

Solar panels

Power output per tick matches the mod default for every panel tier: Ferricore 240 FE/t, Blazegold 960 FE/t, Celestigem 3,840 FE/t and Eclipse Alloy 11,520 FE/t. The conditions differ per tier, so check them before you build a big array.[44]

Goo tiers

The goo tiers are all at their mod defaults: Charged Primogel is tier 1, Charged Blazebloom 2, Charged Voidshimmer 3, Charged Shadowpulse 4 and Energized Goo 5. Each of these has a counter reducer of 15. Creative Goo uses 2,147,483,647 for both its tier and its counter reducer.[44]
