What is Just Dyna Things?

2 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, and this pack ships version 1.19.6 of it. It adds a grab bag of utility blocks, machines and tools on top of Just Dire Things. If you already use Just Dire Things and want more tools, automation and power options, this mod is for you.[1][2]

What it adds

  • More Anvils: four anvils that repair gear without spending experience. The Ferricore Anvil uses catalysts, the BlazeGold Anvil uses high-temperature fluids, and the Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy Anvils use Forge Energy. The Eclipse Alloy Anvil can also take a coolant.[3][4][5][6][7]
  • Echoing Buddings: a new way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and energy to grow clusters.[8]
  • Goos: new goo tiers, including energy-powered versions. Creative Goo is the top tier (MAX), it cannot die, and you can toggle it with any wrench.[9][10][11]
  • Machines and utilities: the Paradox Mixer mass-crafts fluid drop recipes, and the Stabilizer revives goo on top of it using Forge Energy. The Stabilizer can also keep a Paradox Mixer alive when energized with Time Fluid.[12][13]
  • Power: a Thermo Generator and four solar panels (Ferricore, BlazeGold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy). The guide says everything about the panels can be changed in configs, so don't rely on the default numbers it shows.[14][15][16][17][18][19]
  • Wands: Light, Picker, Swapper and Temporal Stupefy wands, plus the Advanced Time Wand, an upgraded Time Wand with more capacity and click-action modes.[20][21][22][23][24][25][26]
  • Odds and ends: a BlackHole (a universal trash can), a configurable Ferricore redstone clock, a Ticker that speeds up a block with Time Fluid and energy, a Reforger that converts blocks using a catalyst, and the Phase Box, a block you can toggle between solid and non-solid.[27][28][29][30][31]

Where it fits in the pack

Quests point you at this mod in a few places. In the useful items tips chapter, one quest asks for a Time Wand or the Advanced Time Wand, and another asks for the Phase Box.[32]

In the creative chapter, quest a quest in "?" asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time. It is listed as a prerequisite of quest a quest in "?", which includes Creative Goo among its creative-item tasks. Quest a quest in "?" in the backrooms chapter also lists Creative Goo.[33][34]

How do you get started with Just Dyna Things?

6 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things that adds new gadgets. Most of its recipes in this pack are built from Just Dire Things materials, so expect to lean on that mod as you go. Here is a sensible order for your first crafts, moving from simple tools to the time and goo machines.[2][35]

Light Wand first

Start with the Light Wand. It places and breaks light blocks and can apply the Glowing effect to the entity you are looking at. It uses up durability whenever you use it.[23][35]

Phase Box and the Advanced Time Wand

The Phase Box, also called Ethereal Glass, is a block whose solid state you can toggle on and off. The pack's quest book asks you to make one in the useful_items_tips chapter: a quest in "?".[29][32]

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded Time Wand with more capacity and several click modes. The default modes are Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed, which the guide lists as 256x every time. The mod's guide says these modes can be modified or disabled in the config. In the same quest chapter, a quest in "?" accepts either the regular Time Wand or this advanced one.[22][32]

Stabilizer

The Stabilizer uses Forge Energy to revive any goo placed on top of it. When it is energized with Time Fluid, it also keeps a Paradox Mixer alive. This pack adds its own recipe for it, so use the one below and not what you may remember from the mod.[13][35]

This recipe is added by the pack.

Ticker, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time

Once you have a Stabilizer, you can move on to the time machines. The Ticker uses Time Fluid and Energy to speed up the block on its highlighted face. The mod's default speed-up is 16x.[31][35]

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It requires at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive.[12]

The Echoing Budding Time is a budding block for farming resources. Echoing buddings need Time Fluid (100mb/wk) and Energy (100fe/wk) to grow clusters. In the pack's quest book, a quest in "?" in the creative chapter asks for the Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time together, so those three make a good goal for this stage.[8][33]

Chisel upgrades

The pack has changed the recipes for the Ferricore, Blazegold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy chisels. Each tier can be made as an upgrade of the previous one, either in a crafting grid or at a smithing table. The base of the chain is the Ferricore Chisel, and it can also be made by upgrading an Iron Chisel.[35]

How does Just Dyna Things work?

8 parts

Just Dyna Things is a JustDireThings addon that adds new stuff. In this section you'll see how its blocks handle power, fluids and items, as far as the in-game guide and the pack's config explain it.[2]

Power generation

The Thermo Generator makes Forge Energy (FE) from heat source blocks plus a fluid coolant. The guide gives the formulas directly: FE gen = 125 x CoolantEfficiency x HeatEfficiency, and MB cost = 125 / CoolantEfficiency. The guide adds that this will probably be simplified in the future.[14]

In this pack its FE capacity, 2-blocks.thermo_generator_max_energy_storage, is 1,000,000, which is the mod default.[36]

Solar panels are a separate set of generators that make FE based on the situation around them. Each tier has its own default maximum rate and default conditions:[15]

  • Ferricore Solar Panel: 240 FE max by default. Defaults: Overworld, see sky, day time.[19]
  • Blazegold Solar Panel: 960 FE max by default. Default condition: Nether.[16]
  • Celestigem Solar Panel: 3,840 FE max by default. It needs to see the sky, and the more solar panels near each other, the more they produce.[17]
  • Eclipse Alloy Solar Panel: 11,520 FE max by default. Nearby panels boost it too. High or low Y-levels raise the multiplier, and middle Y-levels lower it.[18]

The guide itself warns that all of those are defaults and can be changed in the configs. Here is what the pack's config shows for the Blazegold panel:[16][36]

Goo and the Stabilizer

The mod adds new goo tiers. Energized Primogel Goo is tier 1, Energized Blazebloom Goo is tier 2, Energized VoidShimmer Goo is tier 3 and Energized ShadowPulse Goo is tier 4. The plain Energized Goo is tier 5 and needs Forge Energy to stay alive. Creative Goo is tier MAX, cannot die, and can be toggled with any wrench.[10][11][37][38][39][40]

The pack config agrees with those tiers, for example 4-goo.energized_goo_tier is 5. Every non-creative goo has a counter reducer of 15, such as 4-goo.energized_goo_counter_reducer.[36]

For Creative Goo, 4-goo.creative_goo_tier and 4-goo.creative_goo_counter_reducer are both 2,147,483,647.[36]

The generic energy goo settings are 4-goo.generic_energy_goo_energy_every_tick at 100 FE/t and 4-goo.generic_energy_goo_max_energy_storage at 10,000 FE. Tier scaling is switched on for both energy capacity and energy cost, through 4-goo.generic_energy_goo_tier_multiply_energy_capacity and 4-goo.generic_energy_goo_tier_multiply_energy_cost.[36]

The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using Forge Energy. It can also keep a Paradox Mixer alive when energized with Time Fluid. In the pack config, all four of its numbers are the mod defaults:[13][36]

It also plays a sound when it revitalizes a goo, and you can turn that off with 2-blocks.stabilizer_emit_sound.[36]

Paradox Mixer

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that lets you mass-craft fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one Stabilizer energized to stay alive.[12][13]

Echoing buddings

Echoing buddings are a new way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and energy to grow clusters, and the guide lists 100mb/wk of fluid and 100fe/wk of energy. The pack config keeps these values:[8]

The pack also keeps 3-echoing_budding.echoing_budding_random_energy_cost and 3-echoing_budding.echoing_budding_random_fluid_cost enabled. Per the config comments, those give a chance to apply the cost when a cluster grows.[36]

Supported budding types are Minecraft's, JustDireThings', Applied Energistics 2's, Extended AE's, Phasorite Networks' and any GeOre budding. The pack changes the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro, while the amethyst and time versions use the mod's own recipes.[8][35]

Ticker, Reforger and Blackhole

The Ticker uses Time Fluid and Energy to speed up the block in its highlighted face. The default speed is 16x.[31]

The Reforger converts an input block placed on its red face into an output block, at the cost of a catalyst. The JEI categories cover block to block, block to tag and tag to block conversions.[30][41]

The Blackhole is more commonly known as a universal trash can. It can be turned off, which lets you store an abnormal amount of energy or fluid in a cheap space.[27][35]

In the pack, all four limits are at the mod default:[36]

2-blocks.blackhole_keep_content is true in the pack, so the Blackhole keeps its stored contents when redstone disables it.[36]

Redstone clock and Phase Box

The Ferricore Clock is a fully configurable redstone clock. You can program it to power redstone components on any side with a specific game tick, and you can disable sides such as north or up to avoid powering things you don't want. The Phase Box (aka Ethereal Glass) can be toggled to disable or enable its solid state.[28][29]

In the pack, 2-blocks.ferricore_clock_require_wrench and 2-blocks.phase_box_require_wrench are both false, so neither block needs a wrench to change its state.[36]

Anvils

The anvils repair items without using experience. Each tier uses a different resource:[3]

Chisels and wands

The compat chisels run on FE. In the pack config, 10-compats.celestigem_chisel_energy_every_tick is 1 FE/t and 10-compats.celestigem_chisel_max_energy_storage is 1,000 FE. Both are mod defaults.[36]

For the Eclipse Alloy Chisel, 10-compats.eclipse_alloy_chisel_energy_every_tick is 10 FE/t and 10-compats.eclipse_alloy_chisel_max_energy_storage is 10,000 FE, also mod defaults. The pack changes the chisel upgrade recipes, for example for the Ferricore Chisel and the Celestigem Chisel.[35][36]

The Light Wand places and breaks light blocks and can apply the Glowing effect to the entity you're looking at. It consumes durability when used. The Advanced Light Wand works the same way but consumes FE at every use.[21][23][35]

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded version of the regular time wand with more capacity and modes to configure the click action. The default modes are Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed, where Max Speed works 8x so it will be 256x every time. The modes can be modified or disabled in the config.[22]

The pack raises 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_fluid_storage to 8,000,000 MB, up from the mod default of 800,000.[36]

How do you progress through Just Dyna Things?

8 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things. In this pack its tools climb four materials: Ferricore, Blazegold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy. The clearest way to see the ladder is the chisel line, because each chisel upgrades from the one before it.[2][35]

Ferricore tier

This is where you start. The pack changed the Ferricore Chisel recipe, so craft it as shown below. You can also upgrade a plain iron chisel from the Chisel mod, either at a crafting table or with the Ferricore smithing template.[35]

The Light Wand also belongs here. It places and breaks light blocks, can apply the Glowing effect to the entity you look at, and uses durability. The Ferricore Clock is a fully configurable redstone clock that can power any side you choose. The Ferricore Anvil repairs tools using certain catalysts, and the mod's anvils repair without Experience.[3][7][23][28][35]

Blazegold tier

The pack changed the Blazegold chisel recipe. You upgrade your Ferricore chisel into a Blazegold Chisel, and there is a smithing table alternative that uses the Blazegold template.[35]

The Temporal Stupefy Wand is made with Blazegold. It removes Time Wand entities and applies a short stupefy effect. The Blazegold Anvil repairs items using high temperature fluids.[4][25][35]

Celestigem tier

The pack changed the Celestigem chisel too. You can upgrade a Blazegold chisel, or skip ahead from a Diamond Chisel. Both routes also have smithing table versions that use the Celestigem template.[35]

  • Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded Time Wand with more capacity and extra click action modes: Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed by default. The quest a quest in "?" in the useful items and tips chapter accepts either the Just Dire Things Time Wand or this one.[22][32][35]
  • Ticker uses Time Fluid and Energy to speed up the block on its highlighted face, at 16x by default.[31][35]
  • Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive.[12][35]
  • Eclipse Alloy Anvil repairs items using FE. If you add a coolant, it repairs based on the coolant's efficiency.[6]

The Stabilizer

The pack adds its own recipe for the Stabilizer, so follow this one. A Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using FE. It also keeps a Paradox Mixer alive when energized with Time Fluid.[13][35]

Echoing Buddings

Echoing Buddings are a way to farm budding resources. The guide says they need Time Fluid (100mb/wk) and Energy (100fe/wk) to grow clusters. They support Minecraft and Just Dire Things buddings, plus Applied Energistics 2, Extended AE, Phasorite Networks and GeOre buddings.[8]

The pack changed the Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro recipes. The Echoing Budding Amethyst and Echoing Budding Time recipes are the mod's own.[35]

Goo tiers

The mod's energy goos have their own tier levels: Energized Primogel is 1, Energized Blazebloom is 2, Energized VoidShimmer is 3, Energized ShadowPulse is 4, and Energized Goo is 5. These levels apply only to goos, not to the tool tiers above. Creative Goo is the MAX tier, a goo that cannot die.[10][11][37][38][39][40]

Quests

Quest a quest in "?" in the creative chapter asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time. It leads into a quest in "?", which asks for a set of creative items including Creative Goo. The backrooms chapter has a similar quest, a quest in "?", with the same item list.[33][34]

Watch out: The solar panel output figures in the in-game guide are mod defaults: Ferricore 240, Blazegold 960, Celestigem 3,840 and Eclipse Alloy 11,520 FE. The guide itself notes that everything can be modified via configs, so do not treat these as the pack's values.[16][17][18][19]

How does Just Dyna Things work with other mods?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so most of its connections point that way. It also touches the Chisel mod and the Applied Energistics family through a few in-pack recipes and quests.[2][35]

Just Dire Things

Nearly every item in this mod is built from Just Dire Things materials, such as Ferricore Ingot, Blazegold Ingot, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy Ingot. So progressing through Just Dire Things also unlocks the Just Dyna Things gear. The Light Wand and Ferricore Clock use Ferricore, while the Paradox Mixer needs Eclipse Alloy plus the Paradox Machine and Portal Fluid Bucket from Just Dire Things.[35]

The advanced wands are upgrades of earlier wands. The Advanced Time Wand is crafted from the Time Wand, and the Advanced Light Wand is crafted from the Light Wand. The Ticker takes any wand from the time wands tag in its recipe.[35]

The pack adds its own recipe for the Stabilizer, and it uses Just Dire Things parts. This matters because a Paradox Mixer needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive.[12][35]

This recipe is added by the pack.

Chisel

The pack changed the Just Dyna Things chisel line so it connects to the Chisel mod. You can upgrade a Chisel into a Ferricore Chisel, a Diamond Chisel into a Celestigem Chisel, or an iChisel into an Eclipse Alloy Chisel. Each of these upgrades has both a crafting version and a smithing table version.[35]

Applied Energistics and friends

Echoing Buddings are a way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters. The in-game guide lists support for Applied Energistics 2, Extended AE and Phasorite Networks, plus any GeOre budding.[8]

In the pack, the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro are changed. They use item tags for the AE2 and ExtendedAE compat buddings. Every echoing budding recipe also uses the Polymorphic Catalyst from Just Dire Things.[35]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Just Dyna Things?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

Just Dyna Things appears in the "useful_items_tips", "creative" and "thebackrooms" quest chapters in this pack. None of these quests has a title, so the quest refs below are the way to tell them apart.[42][43][44]

Useful items tips

Quest a quest in "?" accepts either the time wand from the other mod or the Advanced Time Wand, so you can hand in whichever one you have.[43]

Quest a quest in "?" asks you to get a Phase Box. The sources show no prerequisite for either quest in this chapter.[43]

Creative chapter

Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[42]

Quest a quest in "?" is the big collection quest. It asks for creative-style items from many different mods, and Creative Goo is the one from this mod. It sits after a long list of earlier quests, including a quest in "?", so you do the Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time quest first.[42]

The Backrooms

Quest a quest in "?" asks for the same set of creative items as the collection quest above, including Creative Goo. It follows the same earlier quest that leads into a quest in "?" in the Creative chapter.[42][44]

Which Just Dyna Things config options matter?

7 parts

Good news: Just Dyna Things is nearly untouched in this pack. In the common config, only one value is marked as changed from the mod default. Every other option that lists a mod default matches it, so what you see below is what the pack runs.[36]

The one change: Advanced Time Wand fluid storage

7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_fluid_storage is set to 8,000,000 in this pack. The mod default is 800,000, so the pack gives the Advanced Time Wand a much bigger fluid tank than the mod normally does.[36]

The rest of the wand is at its defaults. 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_energy_storage is 10,000,000. 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_multiplier is 256, and the config notes that going below 256 can disable the other wand modes.[36]

Wands and fake players

Solar panels

The solar panels all run at default output, but each has different conditions, so check these before you place a field of them.[36]

Ticker

Goo tiers

Other options worth knowing

Startup compat switches

In the startup config, every compat toggle is false: 1-compat.disable_ae2, 1-compat.disable_chisel_modern, 1-compat.disable_extendedae, 1-compat.disable_geore and 1-compat.disable_phasoritenetworks. That means all of those compat features are left enabled.[45]

Watch out: The config notes say that disabling a compat removes all placed compat blocks and replaces its items with useless ones. It also doesn't remove the related data, so don't flip these on a world you care about.[45]
