Just Dyna Things is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.20.7.1. Mod addon for JustDireThings that add machines and QoL (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Just Dyna Things?

2 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for JustDireThings that adds a bunch of new blocks and items on top of it. This pack ships version 1.20.6-hotfix1 of the mod.[1][2]

What it adds

  • More Anvils: unique anvils that repair gear without spending experience. The Ferricore Anvil uses catalysts, the Celestigem Anvil uses Forge Energy (FE), the BlazeGold Anvil uses high temperature fluids, and the Eclipse Alloy Anvil uses FE and can also take a coolant.[3][4][5][6][7]
  • Echoing Buddings: a new way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters, and there is one for Echoing Budding Time among many others.[8]
  • New goo tiers, including Creative Goo, a goo that cannot die and can be toggled with any wrench.[9][10]
  • Solar panels that generate FE based on ambient conditions.[11]
  • Utility blocks. The Stabilizer revives goo above it using FE and keeps a Paradox Mixer alive. The Paradox Mixer mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. The Phase Box can be toggled between solid and non-solid.[12][13][14]
  • More utilities: a Ticker that speeds up the block it faces using Time Fluid and Energy, a Thermo Generator that makes FE from a heat source and a fluid coolant, a Reforger, a BlackHole (the universal trash can) and a configurable Ferricore Clock.[15][16][17][18][19]

Where it fits in this pack

The quest book touches the mod in a few places. One quest in the creative chapter asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time block together: "Creative Goo" quest. Creative Goo then shows up as one of several creative items in "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest, which comes after that quest, and again in a quest in "Backstage" in the backrooms chapter.[20][21]

In the useful items and tips chapter, "Time Wands" quest accepts either the JustDireThings Time Wand or the Advanced Time Wand, and a quest in "Useful Items & Tips" asks for a Phase Box.[22]

Watch out: The mod's own guide says its values, such as the solar panel output rates and conditions, are defaults and can be changed through configs. Treat those numbers as mod defaults, not as confirmed values for this pack.[23][24][25]

Unverified The sources do not show any pack-specific changes to this mod's recipes or configs, so check the recipe viewer in-game before relying on any default value. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Just Dyna Things?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, and the recipes below lean on Just Dire Things materials, so get that tech going first. Then work through these items in this order.[2][26]

Light Wand

The Light Wand is a handy first item. It places and breaks light blocks, and it can apply the Glowing effect to the entity you are looking at. It uses up durability as you use it.[27]

Phase Box and the Advanced Time Wand

The Phase Box is a block you can toggle to disable or enable its solid state. It is also the task of the quest a quest in "Useful Items & Tips".[13][22]

4× Phase BoxMod recipe

The same quest chapter has "Time Wands" quest, which accepts either a Just Dire Things Time Wand or the Advanced Time Wand. You make the advanced version by upgrading a Time Wand at a smithing table.[22][26]

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:advanced_time_wand_smithing

The Advanced Time Wand has more capacity and several click modes. By default these are Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed, where every click acts as 256x. The guide says the modes can be modified or disabled in the config.[28]

Stabilizer and Paradox Mixer

The Stabilizer uses Forge Energy to revive any goo sitting on top of it. This pack adds its own crafting recipe for it.[14][26]

Next comes the Paradox Mixer, an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive, which is why the Stabilizer comes first. The guide says a Stabilizer can keep it alive when energized with Time Fluid.[12][14]

Echoing Budding Time

The Echoing Budding Time is part of the Echoing Budding family. Buddings need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters, and the guide lists the cost as 100mb/wk and 100fe/wk. The quest "Creative Goo" quest asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and this budding together.[8][20]

Tip: Time Fluid and Energy are also what the Ticker runs on. It speeds up the block on its highlighted face, by 16x by default.[19]

How does Just Dyna Things work?

7 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for JustDireThings. Most of what it adds runs on Forge Energy (FE) and, for some blocks, a fluid. Here is how each system behaves in this pack.[2]

Anvils that repair without XP

These unique anvils repair items without spending experience. Each one uses a different resource, so you can pick whichever fits your setup.[3]

Echoing buddings

Echoing buddings are a new way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and energy to grow clusters, and the in-game guide lists 100 mB of Time Fluid and 100 FE for it.[8]

In this pack's server config, each budding takes 100 FE per tick and 100 mB per tick. Its internal buffers hold 10,000 FE and 10,000 mB. Both costs are set to apply by chance when a cluster grows, rather than on every growth. The numbers match the mod defaults.[29]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: justdynathings:echoing_budding_amethyst

The pack changes the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro, which take entries from the AE2 and Extended AE budding tags respectively. Echoing Budding Time keeps the mod recipe.[26]

Goo and the Stabilizer

The mod adds goo that needs FE to stay alive. Energized Goo is tier 5. The energy versions, mainly made for content creators, run from tier 1 to tier 4: Primogel is 1, Blazebloom is 2, VoidShimmer is 3 and ShadowPulse is 4. Creative Goo cannot die, can be toggled with any wrench, and sits at the maximum tier.[10][30][31][32][33][34]

The pack leaves these tiers at their defaults, and each of the energized goos has a counter reducer of 15.[29]

The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using FE, so put it directly below the goo.[14]

The pack's Stabilizer uses 1,000 FE per tick and 100 mB per tick. It stores 10,000 FE and 1,000 mB, and plays a sound when it revitalizes a goo. The numbers are the mod defaults.[29]

Paradox Mixer

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive, and a Stabilizer supplied with Time Fluid can keep it going.[12][14]

Power generation

The Thermo Generator makes FE from heat source blocks plus a fluid coolant. The in-game guide gives the formulas below, and notes they may be simplified in the future.[18]

  • FE generation = 125 x CoolantEfficiency x HeatEfficiency[18]
  • mB cost = 125 / CoolantEfficiency[18]

The base values of 125 for generation and coolant cost are the mod defaults, and the pack leaves them alone. The generator's FE capacity is 1,000,000.[29]

The solar panels generate FE from environmental conditions. The guide lists these default maximum rates, and warns that everything can be changed in the configs.[11][23][24][25][35]

  • Ferricore: 240 FE. Needs the Overworld, a view of the sky and daytime.[35]
  • BlazeGold: 960 FE. The default condition is the Nether.[23]
  • Celestigem: 3,840 FE. Needs a view of the sky, and more neighbouring panels means more output.[24]
  • Eclipse Alloy: 11,520 FE. More neighbouring panels means more output, and high or low Y-levels raise the multiplier while middle Y-levels lower it.[25]

For the BlazeGold panel, the pack sets 960 FE per tick and a 100,000 FE capacity. Its daytime, see-the-sky, Y-level and placed-alone penalty options are all switched off here.[29]

Utility blocks

The Blackhole is a universal trash can for energy and fluids. You can turn it off to store huge amounts cheaply. In this pack it keeps its stored contents when redstone disables it, and its FE and mB capacities are both 2,147,483,647.[15][29]

The Ferricore Clock is a redstone clock you program with a specific game tick. You can configure each side, for example disabling north and up so it doesn't power things you don't want.[16]

The Phase Box (Ethereal Glass) toggles its solid state on and off. This pack does not require a wrench to change the state of either the Phase Box or the Ferricore Clock's faces.[13][29]

The Reforger turns an input block placed on its red face into an output block, at the cost of a catalyst. The Ticker uses Time Fluid and energy to speed up the block on its highlighted face, and the in-game guide gives 16x as the default speed.[17][19]

Wands

The Light Wand places and breaks light blocks, can apply Glowing to the entity you look at, and uses durability. The Advanced Light Wand works the same way but consumes FE on each use.[27][36]

The Advanced Time Wand has more capacity than the regular one and several click modes. By default, Speed 2x steps through 4, 16, 64 and 256, Speed 4x steps through 16 and 256, and Max Speed always gives 256x. The guide says these modes can be modified or disabled in the config.[28]

Tip: The pack raises the Advanced Time Wand's fluid storage to 8,000,000 mB, up from the mod default of 800,000.[29]

How do you progress through Just Dyna Things?

6 parts

Just Dyna Things is a Just Dire Things addon. In this pack its items are built from Just Dire Things materials, and the clearest ladder runs Ferricore, then Blazegold, then Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy.[2][26]

The chisel ladder

The chisel line shows the tiers best. The pack changed every one of these recipes, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. Each chisel upgrades from the one before it, and every upgrade also has a smithing table version.[26]

Anvils by tier

There is one anvil per material, and they let you repair items without spending experience.[3]

Wands and utility blocks

The quest book has a quest for the Phase Box (a quest in "Useful Items & Tips") in the useful_items_tips chapter. Another quest there accepts either the Just Dire Things Time Wand or the Advanced Time Wand ("Time Wands" quest).[22]

The Advanced Time Wand has click-action modes: Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed. The guide says these defaults can be modified or disabled in the config.[28]

The time chain

A quest in the creative chapter asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time ("Creative Goo" quest). The Stabilizer recipe is added by the pack. The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using FE.[14][20][26]

Goo tiers and the creative goal

The mod adds an Energized Goo at tier level 5, which needs Forge Energy to stay alive. It also adds energy versions of the lower goos at tier levels 1 to 4.[30][31][32][33][34]

At the top is Creative Goo, a goo that cannot die and can be toggled with any wrench. Its tier level is MAX. A quest in the creative chapter asks for it alongside other mods' creative items, and it comes after the time chain quest above ("Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest). The same item list also appears in a quest in the thebackrooms chapter (a quest in "Backstage").[10][20][21]

Power scaling

The in-game guide gives these mod defaults for the solar panels: the BlazeGold Solar Panel has a max of 960 FE and works in the Nether, and the Celestigem Solar Panel has a max of 3,840 FE and needs to see the sky. The guide itself warns that everything can be changed in the configs, so don't treat these as the pack's final values.[23][24]

How does Just Dyna Things work with other mods?

5 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so its strongest link is with that mod. In this pack, the recipes that connect it to other mods use Just Dire Things materials such as Ferricore Ingot, Blazegold Ingot, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy Ingot. The Chisel mod also appears in the chisel upgrades, and the echoing budding recipes use tags tied to Applied Energistics 2 and Extended AE.[2][26]

The Stabilizer

The Stabilizer has a recipe that the pack added itself. It builds on Just Dire Things parts, including the Simple Swapper and the Time Crystal Block. The exact recipe is shown below.[26]

Chisel upgrades

The pack changed the chisel recipes so the Chisel mod's tools lead into Just Dyna Things chisels. The Chisel is the starting point for the Ferricore Chisel, the Diamond Chisel for the Celestigem Chisel, and the iChisel for the Eclipse Alloy Chisel. Each step can also be done from the previous Just Dyna Things chisel, giving the chain Ferricore, Blazegold, Celestigem, Eclipse Alloy. Every upgrade has both a crafting-table version and a smithing-table version.[26]

Echoing buddings and AE2

The echoing budding recipes revolve around the Polymorphic Catalyst and the Echo Shard. The pack changed the recipes for Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro, so they work with the AE2 and Extended AE budding compat tags.[26]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Just Dyna Things?

3 parts

Just Dyna Things appears in the "useful_items_tips", "creative" and "thebackrooms" quest chapters in this pack. None of these quests has a title, so the quest refs below are the way to tell them apart.[20][21][22]

Useful items tips

Quest "Time Wands" quest accepts either the time wand from the other mod or the Advanced Time Wand, so you can hand in whichever one you have.[22]

Quest a quest in "Useful Items & Tips" asks you to get a Phase Box. The sources show no prerequisite for either quest in this chapter.[22]

Creative chapter

Quest "Creative Goo" quest asks for the Stabilizer, the Paradox Mixer and the Echoing Budding Time. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[20]

Quest "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest is the big collection quest. It asks for creative-style items from many different mods, and Creative Goo is the one from this mod. It sits after a long list of earlier quests, including "Creative Goo" quest, so you do the Stabilizer, Paradox Mixer and Echoing Budding Time quest first.[20]

The Backrooms

Quest a quest in "Backstage" asks for the same set of creative items as the collection quest above, including Creative Goo. It follows the same earlier quest that leads into "Creative Goo" quest in the Creative chapter.[20][21]

Which Just Dyna Things config options matter?

6 parts

Just Dyna Things is almost entirely left alone in this pack. Across the server, common and startup configs, only one option that lists a mod default is marked as changed by the pack. Every other option that lists a default matches it.[29][37][38]

The one value the pack changed

The Advanced Time Wand's fluid tank is bigger here. 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_fluid_storage is set to 8,000,000 mB in this pack, up from the mod default of 800,000.[29]

Its energy buffer, 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_energy_storage, stays at the default 10,000,000 FE.[29]

Time wand speed settings

The cap in 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_multiplier is 256. The config notes say that going below 256 can disable other wand modes, and that the value should be a power of two.[29]

The Advanced Time Wand's modes are set like this in the pack:[29]

Solar panels

Every solar panel keeps its default output in this pack, but each has different conditions. Here is how they are set up:[29]

Fake players and wrenches

The Light Wand and the Advanced Time Wand both allow fake players, so automation setups can use them: 7-wands.light_wand_allow_fakeplayer and 7-wands.advanced_time_wand_allow_fakeplayer are true. The Picker Wand and Swapper Wand do not: 7-wands.picker_wand_allow_fakeplayer and 7-wands.swapper_wand_allow_fakeplayer are false.[29]

You don't need a wrench to change the state of the Ferricore Clock or the Phase Box, since 2-blocks.ferricore_clock_require_wrench and 2-blocks.phase_box_require_wrench are both false.[29]

Other numbers worth knowing

Compat toggles

All the startup compat switches are false, so none of the mod's optional integrations are disabled: 1-compat.disable_ae2, 1-compat.disable_extendedae, 1-compat.disable_geore, 1-compat.disable_chisel_modern and 1-compat.disable_phasoritenetworks. The config warns that turning one on removes placed compat blocks and replaces the items with useless ones.[38]
