What is Create: Connected?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.16.0 guide
Create: Connected is an add-on for Create, and the pack ships version 1.1.16-mc1.21.1 of it. It has been in the pack since 1.8.0 or earlier, so if you've been playing for a while, it's likely already in your world.[1]
The mod's own in-game guide says it has a Crowdin page for translations. If you'd like to help translate it, that's the place to contribute.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe the mod's items, blocks or mechanics, so I can't say here what it adds or who benefits most from it. They also don't show where it fits in the pack's progression, whether it is on the ATM Star path, or whether any quests involve it.
How do you get started with Create: Connected?
4 parts
Create: Connected adds gadgets on top of Create. In this pack every feature category is switched on: kinetic, logistics, redstone, palette and copycats. The pack has also changed the recipes for the items below, so follow the recipe blocks here rather than what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3][4]
First: Copycat Boards
Start with Copycat Board. One craft makes 8 of them. A copycat turns a full block into a decorative version of that block. Right-click it again to cycle its orientation, and use a Wrench to reset the material.[4][5]

Made at the stonecutter.
From there you can make a Copycat Box or a Copycat Catwalk out of boards. A Copycat Block has its own recipe as well.[4]

Second: a Crank Wheel
The Crank Wheel is a hand-powered source of rotation. In this pack its stress capacity is set to 8 in stressValues.v1.capacity.crank_wheel.[4][6]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: create_connected:crafting/kinetics/crank_wheel
Third: gearboxes and clutches
The Brass Gearbox lets you set the rotation direction of each of its 4 sides independently. The pack changed its recipe, so check the block below.[4][5]

How does Create: Connected work?
8 parts
Create: Connected is mostly a toolbox of small add-ons for Create, so there is no single big multiblock to learn here. What the sources do explain is how the kinetic parts, the Fluid Vessel, the fan catalysts and the copycats behave in this pack. Everything below is set by the pack's config files and recipes.[3][5][6]
Gearboxes, clutches and the brake
The Brass Gearbox is a gearbox where the rotation direction of all 4 sides can be configured independently. In this pack it is crafted from a different recipe than the mod's default, and you can also turn a Vertical Brass Gearbox back into a Brass Gearbox.[4][5]

The Centrifugal Clutch only couples when the input RPM is faster than a threshold you can configure. The Freewheel Clutch is the direction-based cousin: it only couples when the input spins in the direction it is set to. The Cross Connector relays rotation in two directions independently.[5]

The Shear Pin has its own recipe in this pack, made by cutting a Shaft. The mod also has an Overstress Clutch, and it even has an advancement for triggering one.[4][5]
Most of these parts add no stress of their own. The pack's server config sets the stress impact to 0 for the brass gearbox, the centrifugal, freewheel, inverted and overstress clutches, the inverted gearshift, the parallel gearbox, the other gearbox variants listed there, the encased chain cogwheel and the shear pin.[6]
Crank wheels and the Kinetic Battery
The Crank Wheel is made in this pack by combining a Cogwheel and a Hand Crank. The server config lists a stress capacity of 8 for both the crank wheel and the large crank wheel.[4][6]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: create_connected:crafting/kinetics/crank_wheel
The Kinetic Battery is limited by batteryCapacity, which is 512 su-hours here (the mod default), and it runs at batteryDischargeRPM RPM when discharging, which is 64 (also the default). The server config also lists a stress capacity of 32 and a stress impact of 64 for it. The mod has an advancement for charging one to full.[5][6]
Fluid Vessel and boilers
The Fluid Vessel is a horizontal fluid tank. It is less efficient than the normal option when used as a boiler. Wrench-clicking it cycles the window shapes. This pack has its own recipe for it.[4][5]
Crafting Shaped
| any copper plate | any wooden barrel | any copper plate |
Recipe id: create_connected:crafting/kinetics/fluid_vessel
Several server config options tune it as a boiler, and the pack keeps all of them at the mod defaults. vesselMaxLevel caps the boiler level at 18, vesselHeatMultiplier is 0.5 for heat level, and vesselBoilerStressMultiplier is 0.8125 for stress output.[6]
Fan catalysts
The Empty Fan Catalyst is the base item. You insert material into it to catalyze fan processing. A filled catalyst is a dedicated bulk processing device, and its contents do not interact with the environment.[5]

There are more catalysts. Haunting, smoking and washing ones are described as plain bulk devices. Freezing, sanding, seething (superheating), withering, enriched and the Dragon Head ending catalyst are described as being for compatible mods.[5]
Control Chips and the redstone side
The Control Chip is made through a sequenced assembly in this pack, with Incomplete Control Chip as the in-progress item. The mod has an advancement for assembling one.[4][5]

The mod also adds a Linked Transmitter and a Sequenced Pulse Generator, and the pack enables both. You can overload the generator with a buggy program, which has a hidden advancement. Redstone Links can have a wildcard in a slot, but allowDualWildcardLink is false here, so you cannot put wildcards in both slots (changing it needs a restart).[3][5][6]
Item Silo and logistics
The Item Silo is described as a vertical item vault. The Inventory Access Port and Inventory Bridge are also enabled in the pack, but the sources I have do not explain how they work, so check them in game.[3][5]
Copycats
Copycats turn any full block into a decorative shape: block, beam, board, slab, stairs, vertical step, wall, fence and a functional fence gate. Right-click one with a block to apply it as the material. Click again to cycle its orientation or powered state, and use a Wrench to reset the material.[5]
A few shapes have quirks. The slab can be placed vertically, several boards fit in one block space, and the stairs are noted as having buggy connected textures.[5]
In this pack the Copycat Beam comes from stonecutting a zinc ingot, and the Copycat Block is crafted from Copycat Slab.[4]

The common config has both migrateCopycatsOnBlockUpdate and migrateCopycatsOnInitialize set to true. They migrate copycats to Create: Copycats+ on block update or when the block entity is initialized.[3]
Feature switches and small settings
Every feature category (copycats, kinetic, logistics, palette and redstone) and every individual feature listed in the pack's common config is enabled. Nothing from this mod is switched off here.[3]
Some small server options are worth knowing. applicationRemainingItemFix is on, which gives you remaining items after manual application. schematicsNestingDepth is 5, the number of sub-folders allowed for schematics.[6]
How do you progress through Create: Connected?
6 parts
For Create: Connected in this pack, the order is set by what each recipe asks for. The recipes below are marked as changed by the pack, so follow them rather than the mod defaults. Roughly, you move from andesite-level kinetics, to copper and zinc utility blocks, to brass machinery, and finally to electronics-gated blocks.[4]
Stage 1: andesite-level kinetics
Your first Connected blocks are clutches, brakes and gearboxes built around Create andesite parts. They need nothing past the early Create tools, so you can grab them as soon as you want finer control over your rotation networks.[4]

Cheap conversions and hand power
Several blocks are simple one-for-one conversions from base Create parts, with no extra materials. This is a simple way to get inverted variants, a silo or a vessel once you already own the original.[4]
- Inverted Clutch is made from a Create clutch.[4]
- Inverted Gearshift is made from a Create gearshift.[4]
- Item Silo is made from a Create item vault.[4]
- Fluid Vessel can be made from a Create fluid tank.[4]
- Shear Pin comes from cutting a Create shaft.[4]
If you want hand-powered rotation, the crank wheels combine a hand crank with a cogwheel (small) or a large cogwheel.[4]

Stage 2: copper, zinc and building blocks
The copycat family is stonecut from zinc ingots, so it opens up as soon as you have zinc. One ingot gives 4 Copycat Beam, 8 Copycat Board or 2 Copycat Slab, and the block, fence, fence gate and stairs are stonecut from zinc as well.[4]
The other shapes chain off those pieces. The Copycat Box, the Copycat Catwalk and the Copycat Block each have their own recipe below.[4]

- Fan Blasting Catalyst: apply a lava bucket to an empty catalyst, or fill it with lava.[4]
- Fan Washing Catalyst (shown in game as Fan Washing Catalyst): apply a water bucket, or fill it with water.[4]
- Fan Freezing Catalyst: apply a powder snow bucket.[4]
- Fan Haunting Catalyst: apply soul sand.[4]
- Fan Sanding Catalyst: apply sand.[4]
- Fan Smoking Catalyst: apply netherrack.[4]
- Fan Ending Catalyst with Dragon Head: apply a dragon head.[4]
- Fan Ending Catalyst with Dragon's Breath: apply a Dragon's Breath Bucket from Create: Dragons Plus, or fill it with a fluid from the ending catalyst tag of that mod.[4]
Nothing is locked in. Crafting a blasting, freezing, haunting, dragon head or dragon's breath catalyst on its own gives you the empty catalyst back, so you can re-roll it for a different effect.[4]

How does Create: Connected work with other mods?
4 parts
Create: Connected is an add-on, so almost all of its links are to Create itself. A few recipes also reach into other mods, such as the fan catalysts. The pack changes nearly every recipe on this page, so use the recipes shown here rather than the mod's defaults.[4]
Create is the backbone
The kinetic blocks in this mod lean on Create's casings. The Brake, Centrifugal Clutch, Overstress Clutch and Freewheel Clutch are the Andesite Casing family, while the Kinetic Battery and Kinetic Bridge are the Brass Casing family. The recipes below show the exact in-pack versions of a few of them.[4]
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.

Several of the mod's gearboxes and wheels grow out of Create's own gearing. That covers the Parallel Gearbox, the 6-way Gearbox, the Cross Connector, the Crank Wheel and the Large Crank Wheel. The 6-way Gearbox has several recipes in the pack, so you can reach it from different starting points. Here is the one that starts from casing and cogwheels:[4]

Swapping between Create and Connected blocks
The pack has simple conversion recipes between Create blocks and their Connected counterparts, in both directions. If you built the wrong version, you can swap it instead of crafting from scratch. These pairs convert:[4]
- Clutch and Inverted Clutch[4]
- Gearshift and Inverted Gearshift[4]
- Fluid Tank and Fluid Vessel[4]
- Item Vault and Item Silo[4]
- Redstone Link and Linked Transmitter[4]
- Copycat Step and Copycat Vertical Step[4]
The Copycat Slab also has its own recipes, starting from Create's Copycat Panel or from Copycat Step.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: create_connected:crafting/palettes/copycat_slab_from_panels
Control Chip and Shear Pin
The Control Chip is made by Create's sequenced assembly, using the Incomplete Control Chip as the in-progress item. The item list of this recipe also includes Gold Plate and Iron Plate. The full in-pack recipe is shown below.[4]

The Shear Pin comes from Create's cutting recipe type, using a Shaft as the input.[4]
Fan catalysts and other mods
The Empty Fan Catalyst is the link to other add-ons. Apply a Dragon's Breath Bucket to it and you get the Fan Ending Catalyst with Dragon's Breath. Apply a Demon's Dream to it and you get the Fan Enspirit Catalyst.[4]

Recipe id: occultengineering:crafting/empty_fan_catalyst
Unverified Any quest connections to Create: Connected would be told in the pack's quest book, and the sources here do not show a quest involving this mod, so this page only covers recipe-based connections.
Which Create: Connected config options matter?
6 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.16.0 guide
Create: Connected keeps its feature toggles in a common config file and its tunable numbers in a server config file. Wherever the server file lists a mod default, this pack's value matches it. So the pack hasn't changed any of the tuned values below, and you can treat them as the mod's normal behavior.[7][8]
Kinetic Battery
- batteryCapacity is 512 su-hours, the same as the mod default.[8]
- batteryDischargeRPM is 64 RPM while discharging, also the mod default.[8]
- The pack sets the battery's stress capacity (stressValues.v1.capacity.kinetic_battery) to 32 and its stress impact (stressValues.v1.impact.kinetic_battery) to 64. The file doesn't list a mod default for either of these options.[8]
Fluid Vessel as a boiler
- vesselMaxLevel caps the boiler level at 18, the mod default.[8]
- vesselHeatMultiplier is 0.5, the mod default.[8]
- vesselBoilerStressMultiplier is 0.8125, the mod default.[8]
Stress values
stressValues.v1.brakeActiveStress is 16,384 stress units for a powered brake, matching the mod default. The brake's base impact (stressValues.v1.impact.brake) is 0.[8]
These components all have a stress impact of 0 in this pack: stressValues.v1.impact.brass_gearbox, stressValues.v1.impact.parallel_gearbox, stressValues.v1.impact.six_way_gearbox, stressValues.v1.impact.centrifugal_clutch, stressValues.v1.impact.freewheel_clutch, stressValues.v1.impact.inverted_clutch, stressValues.v1.impact.overstress_clutch, stressValues.v1.impact.inverted_gearshift, stressValues.v1.impact.shear_pin and stressValues.v1.impact.encased_chain_cogwheel.[8]
On the generator side, stressValues.v1.capacity.crank_wheel and stressValues.v1.capacity.large_crank_wheel are each set to 8.[8]
Redstone links and schematics
- allowDualWildcardLink is false, so a Redstone Link can't have wildcards in both slots. Changing it needs a restart.[8]
- schematicsNestingDepth allows 5 sub-folders for schematics, the mod default.[8]
- applicationRemainingItemFix is enabled, so you get remaining items back after manual application.[8]
Feature toggles
Every category toggle is true: feature_categories.kinetic, feature_categories.logistics, feature_categories.redstone, feature_categories.palette and feature_categories.copycats. Every individual feature toggle listed in the file is true as well, so nothing from the mod is disabled.[7]
Copycat migration
migrateCopycatsOnBlockUpdate and migrateCopycatsOnInitialize are both true. They migrate copycats to Create: Copycats+ when a copycat receives a block update or when its block entity is initialized. The copycat category description also says to install Create: Copycats+ to upgrade.[7]
What changed in Create: Connected between versions?
Create: Connected has been in StoneBlock 4 since the first release or earlier. FTB StoneBlock 4 1.13.1 ships version 1.1.16 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[9]
The mod's changelogs for 1.1.6 and 1.1.15 only carry that compatibility note and point to the full changelog in the mod's GitHub repository. That is where the item-by-item changes live, so I can't list them here.[10][11]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so changes to Create: Connected between StoneBlock 4 releases are unverified.
