What is Entangled?
2 parts
Entangled lets you bind two blocks together, so you can interact with either one as if they were the same block. That means you can move items, energy, fluids and more between them instantly. It also gives you more than six sides to work with, and it's a neat way to hide messy cables. This pack ships Entangled 1.3.21.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The quest "Entangled Blocks" quest is in the Logistics chapter, which is chapter 9 of 31 in the book. That chapter belongs to the group "Resources & Logistics". It asks you to obtain Block and Item, and its text calls the mod useful for hiding your messy cables.[3]
The chapter opens with "General Logistics" quest, a checkmark quest that says you'll find most of the ways to handle transferring items, energy, fluids and more here. Entangled sits among the other transport options, such as "Pipez" quest and "LaserIO" quest. The quests I can see don't show Entangled following another quest. 30 of the chapter's 57 quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book for the full order.[3]
How binding works
- Craft an Entangled Block and an Entangled Binder.[1]
- Place your Entangled Block.[1]
- Right-click the block you want to bind to with the Binder.[1]
- Right-click your Entangled Block with the Binder.[1]
To unbind, select an empty hotbar slot, crouch and right-click the Entangled Block. You can also bind to a block in a different dimension by selecting it with the Binder.[1]
How do you get started with Entangled?
5 parts
Entangled lets you bind two blocks together so you can interact with them as if they were the same block. The pack's quest book says this lets you move items, energy, fluids and more instantly, and it's handy for hiding messy cables. You'll find the quest "Entangled Blocks" quest in the Logistics chapter (group Resources & Logistics, chapter 9 of 31). It asks you to make Block and Item.[3]
Step 1: Make the Entangled Block
The Entangled Block is the one that absorbs the state of another block. It's the one you place down and use as your stand-in. Here's the recipe, and it's the mod's own, unchanged by the pack.[1][4]

Step 2: Make the binder
Next you need Item, the Entangled Binder, which controls which blocks get bound together. The pack has changed this recipe from the mod's version, so follow the one below and not the mod's default.[1][4]
Step 3: Bind your blocks
- Place down your Entangled Block.[1]
- Right-click the block you want to bind to with the Entangled Binder.[1]
- Right-click your Entangled Block with the Entangled Binder.[1]
To unbind, select an empty hotbar slot, start crouching, then right-click the Entangled Block.[1]
When you look at an Entangled Block, its tooltip tells you what it's bound to and where. By default the bound block is also highlighted, which you can switch off with Client.renderBlockHighlight.[5][6]
What the pack allows
In this pack, General.allowDimensional is true, so you can bind blocks across different dimensions. General.maxDistance is -1, which means unlimited range for blocks in the same dimension. General.useWhitelist is false, so the invalid targets tag works as a blacklist of blocks you can't bind to. These match the mod's defaults. Changes to the range and dimension settings don't affect blocks you've already bound.[6]
One more recipe
The pack also has a shapeless recipe that takes an Entangled Block and gives back an Entangled Block.[4]
Unverified The recipe id suggests this resets the stored binding on a block, but the sources don't say what it does.
How does Entangled work?
6 parts
Entangled is a simple mod with one big trick: you tie one block to another, and from then on you can use either one as if they were the same block. The mod's own description says this lets you move items, energy and fluids instantly, give a machine more than six usable sides, or hide messy cables.[1]
The items
There are only two items to learn. The Block is the block that absorbs the state of another block. The Item is the Entangled Binder, which controls which blocks get bound together.[1][5]

The pack changed the Binder recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default.
A shapeless recipe: one Entangled Block goes in and an Entangled Block comes out.
Binding a block
- Craft an Entangled Block and an Entangled Binder.[1]
- Place down your Entangled Block.[1]
- Right-click the block you want to bind to with the Binder.[1]
- Right-click your Entangled Block with the Binder.[1]
The Binder tells you what it is holding. Its tooltip says it can bind entangled blocks to other blocks, and once it has a target it shows the block and its position in the world. A bound Entangled Block shows the same kind of text, so you can check what it is linked to at any time.[5]
Unbinding
Range and dimensions
Binding can work across dimensions. The mod's FAQ says to select a block in a different dimension with the Binder. In this pack the option General.allowDimensional is true, so cross-dimension binding is allowed. Changing this option does not affect blocks that are already bound.[1][6]
Distance is set by General.maxDistance, which is -1 in this pack, meaning infinite range. It only affects blocks in the same dimension, and changing it does not affect blocks that are already bound.[6]
The tooltip on an Entangled Block tells you which limits apply. It can say the block binds to anything, only to blocks in the same dimension, or only to blocks within a set number of blocks. It can also combine a distance limit with other dimensions being allowed.[5]
What you can bind to
The block tag entangled:invalid_targets lists blocks that an Entangled Block cannot target. If General.useWhitelist is switched on, that tag is treated as a whitelist instead, and Entangled Blocks can only bind to blocks in it. In this pack that option is false, so the tag works as a blacklist.[1][6]
Rendering
An Entangled Block renders a block inside itself. Two client-side options control the visuals: Client.renderBlockHighlight highlights the bound block when you look at the Entangled Block, and Client.rotateRenderedBlock makes the rendered block spin. Both are true in this pack.[1][6]
The mod also has a render blacklist, one tag for blocks and one for block entity types. Anything in them is not drawn inside an Entangled Block. The pack adds the Dyson Cube Project block dysoncubeproject:em_railejector_controller to both tags, so it will not be drawn inside an Entangled Block. Both entries are marked as not required.[1][7][8]
How do you progress through Entangled?
3 parts
Entangled doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. The sources show two craftable items and nothing that upgrades them, so there's no basic-to-advanced path to climb. Progression here is about when you pick it up and what you use it for.[3][4]
Where it sits in the quest book
The quest "Entangled Blocks" quest is in the Logistics chapter, in the Resources & Logistics group (chapter 9 of 31 in the book). It asks you to get both Block and Item. It doesn't list another quest that must come before it. The chapter opens with "General Logistics" quest, a checkmark quest that introduces the ways to move items, energy and fluids.[3]
The quest describes the mod as a way to bind two blocks together so you can interact with them as if they were the same block. That lets you move items, energy, fluids and more instantly, and it's handy for hiding messy cables.[3]
Recipes
The Entangled Block uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | any obsidian | any ender pearl |
| any obsidian | any wooden chest | any obsidian |
| any ender pearl | any obsidian | any ender pearl |
Recipe id: entangled:block
The recipe for the Entangled Item is changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Check the in-pack recipe below.[4]
There is also a shapeless recipe that takes an Entangled Block and gives back an Entangled Block. It uses the mod's own recipe.[4]
Pack data tweak
The pack adds one entry, an optional block from another mod (dysoncubeproject:em_railejector_controller), to Entangled's render blacklist tags, for both blocks and block entities. It doesn't change the recipes or add any tiers.[7][8]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Entangled?
1 part
Entangled has a single quest that I can confirm, and it sits in the Logistics chapter. That chapter is in the Resources & Logistics group, is chapter 9 of 31 in the quest book, and has 57 quests.[3]
Logistics: Entangled Blocks
The quest is "Entangled Blocks" quest. It asks you to get two items, Block and Item.[3]
The quest text says Entangled lets you bind two blocks together so you can interact with them as if they were the same block. That means you can move items, energy, fluids and more between them instantly. The book also points out that it is handy for hiding messy cables.[3]
The chapter opens with a checkmark quest, "General Logistics" quest, which says the chapter covers most of the ways to move items, energy, fluids and more. The other logistics mods (Pipez, Mekanism, LaserIO and so on) get their own intro quests there as well. The Entangled quest has no quest listed before it, and none of the chapter's follow-up quests are attached to it.[3]
The General Storage chapter has 146 quests, and 64 of them have no text available for this guide, so check the quest book for those. Among the quests I can see in that chapter, none asks for Entangled items.[9]
Which Entangled config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Entangled has a small config file, and the pack leaves every option at the mod default. Nothing was changed, so what you see below is also what the mod does out of the box.[10]
General options
- General.allowDimensional is true. That means you can bind an entangled block to a block in a different dimension.[1][10]
- General.maxDistance is -1, which means infinite range. The allowed range runs from -1 up to 2,147,483,647, and the limit only applies to blocks in the same dimension.[10]
- General.useWhitelist is false. While it stays false, the entangled:invalid_targets tag works as a blacklist of blocks you can't bind to. If you set it to true, entangled blocks can only be bound to blocks in that tag.[1][10]
Client options
- Client.renderBlockHighlight is true. When you look at an entangled block, the block it is bound to gets highlighted.[1][10]
- Client.rotateRenderedBlock is true. The block rendered inside an entangled block rotates. Set it to false if you'd rather it stay still.[1][10]
What changed in Entangled between versions?
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Entangled 1.3.21, and the mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for it, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelog, newest first.[2][11]
- 1.3.21: Japanese translations were added, and a bug was fixed where the cached block entity wasn't invalidated when new entangled block data arrived from the server.[11]
- 1.3.20a: the entangled block now works automatically with modded capabilities.[11]
- 1.3.20: Jade, WAILA and The One Probe no longer show air when the bound block is far away.[11]
- 1.3.19a: fixed the entangled block querying capabilities from its own dimension instead of the bound block's dimension.[11]
- 1.3.19: added a config option to whitelist blocks instead of blacklisting them. Also added Russian and Turkish translations, updated Simplified Chinese, and fixed a crash when breaking entangled blocks that were bound to each other.[11]
- 1.3.18a: fixed getting disconnected when joining a LAN world.[11]
- 1.3.18: the initial release of Entangled for Minecraft 1.21.[11]
