What is Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide

Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry is all about jewelcrafting. You build modular pieces of jewelry by combining patterns with materials, then wear them for bonuses. The mod advertises more than 10,000 possible jewelry combinations and 7 new gemstone items to hunt down.[1]

This pack runs version 1.21.1-1.6.0 of the mod.[2]

How jewelcrafting works

Everything happens at the Jewelcrafting Station block. You pick a pattern, and that pattern decides what kind of bonus the piece gives, such as bonus Attributes. The materials you use decide which specific bonus you get, and their quality decides how strong it is. More precious gems make more powerful jewelry.[1]

You know some patterns from the start. You unlock the rest by finding or trading for Artisan Scrolls, so exploring pays off here.[1]

The Jeweler villager

The mod adds a new villager profession. Villagers that take a Jewelcrafting Station become Jewelers. They buy and sell materials, sell finished jewelry, and sell advanced patterns, so they're a handy shortcut if you'd rather trade than loot.[1]

Who it's for

If you like tinkering with gear, collecting things and fine-tuning your stats, this mod is for you. It's also very datadriven, and datapacks and addons can expand its content.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits in the pack's overall progression, and they don't confirm any pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs.

How do you get started with Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.4 guide

Everything in this mod revolves around one block: the Jewelcrafting Station. You craft your jewelry there from patterns and materials, so it is the very first thing you want to make.[1]

Build a Jewelcrafting Station

The Jewelcrafting Station is a regular shaped crafting table recipe. This pack uses the mod's own recipe with no changes, so it is cheap and you can make it very early.[3]

Craft your first piece of jewelry

You already know some patterns by default, so you can start making jewelry at the station right away. Each pattern gives a type of bonus, such as bonus attributes. The materials you pick decide which specific bonus you get, and the quality of those materials decides how strong it is.[1]

Tip: Read the tooltips while you experiment. The mod shows lines like Applicable Materials and Bonuses when Crafted, which help you work out what goes into a piece and what it will do. If you get a message saying a pattern is Already Learned, you already have that pattern.[4]

Unlock more patterns

The default patterns are only the beginning. You unlock the others with Artisan Scrolls, which you get by looting or by trading.[1]

Trading is where your station does double duty. Villagers will happily work at a Jewelcrafting Station and become Jewelers. Jewelers buy and sell materials, sell finished jewelry, and sell the secrets of more advanced patterns. That makes them a great way to get new patterns without relying on loot alone.[1]

Go gem hunting

Once your station is running, head out and explore. The mod adds 7 new gemstone items and over 10,000 modular jewelry combinations, and you can find gems, patterns and trinkets out in the world. The more precious the gems, the more powerful the product, so better materials are worth chasing.[1]

Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.4 guide

Everything in this mod revolves around one block: the Jewelcrafting Station. There are no generators, pipes or multiblocks to worry about. You craft jewelry at the station from a pattern, and the pattern plus the materials you feed it decide what you get.[1]

Patterns: the blueprint for your jewelry

Every piece of jewelry starts from a pattern. You already know some patterns by default. Others you have to unlock with Artisan Scrolls, which you get from loot or by trading. If you try to learn a pattern you already have, the game tells you it's already learned, so you won't waste a scroll by accident.[1][4]

Each pattern gives a type of bonus, bonus Attributes for example. The pattern sets which kind of bonus the piece can have, and your materials fill in the details.[1]

Materials and quality

The system is modular, and this is where it gets fun. The materials you put into a pattern decide the specific bonus, and their quality decides how strong it is. Mixing patterns and materials is how the mod reaches more than 10,000 jewelry combinations, and it adds 7 new gemstone items to hunt for. More precious gems give you a more powerful piece.[1]

The mod's tooltips help you plan. They include an Applicable Materials list and a Bonuses when Crafted section, so you can see your options before you commit your rare gems.[4]

Kinds of bonuses

Besides attribute boosts, the mod's text lists several other bonus types that jewelry can carry:[1][4]

  • Effect immunity: the piece makes you immune to a specific effect.[4]
  • Effect when hit: when something hits you, you gain an effect for a set number of seconds.[4]
  • On projectile hit: something triggers when your projectiles land a hit.[4]
  • Piglin neutrality: Piglins stay neutral toward you.[4]
  • Trade discount: you get a discount on items when trading.[4]
Tip: Because materials decide the bonus, the same pattern can produce very different pieces. Before you spend a valuable gem, check its tooltip to see which bonus it would give.[1][4]

The Jeweler villager

The Jewelcrafting Station also works as a workstation for a new villager profession, the Jeweler. Jewelers buy and sell materials, sell finished jewelry, and sell advanced patterns. That makes them your main alternative to looting for Artisan Scrolls.[1]

Requirements and datapacks

The mod needs Iron's Lib, Atlas API and Curios API to run, and it is heavily data-driven. Its registries can be extended through datapacks and addons, so pack makers can add new content without touching the code.[1]

Unverified The sources don't cover the exact bonus values, the full list of patterns and gemstones, how Artisan Scrolls drop, or whether the pack changed any of these through datapacks. No sources describe automation or machine interaction for the Jewelcrafting Station either.

How do you progress through Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.4 guide

Your jewelry journey starts with the Jewelcrafting Station. In this pack it's made with a normal shaped crafting recipe at a crafting table. It's also the only crafting recipe in the pack that makes an item from this mod, so it's the one thing you need to craft to get started.[3]

Tip: The recipe accepts any copper ingot and any type of planks, so any wood you have lying around will work.[3]

Unverified This pack has no quests for Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry, and none of the sources describe how the mod's jewelry tiers work. What you can make at the Jewelcrafting Station, and how progression goes after you place it, couldn't be confirmed.

How does Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry work with other mods?

The one link with another mod that the pack's recipes confirm is topaz. The pack adds recipes that turn a Topaz GeOre Shard into a Topaz, so you can get the gem by processing the shard.[5]

Topaz Geore Shard to Topaz

You can process the shard in a regular furnace or in a blast furnace. The result is the same in each, and the pack added these recipes, so they are not part of the mod's own content.[5]

Required libraries

Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry needs Iron's Lib, Atlas API and Curios API to run. These are support libraries rather than gameplay integrations, but they are the mods it depends on.[1]

Which Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Good news: Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry only has two server-side options worth knowing about in this pack, and both sit at the mod's defaults. The pack hasn't changed either one, so you get the standard behavior from the mod.[6]

Server config: Worldgen

  • Worldgen.enableDynamicJewelryLoot is set to true, which matches the default. When it's on, jewelry items are inserted dynamically into loot tables based on what those tables already contain. For example, loot tables with gems and equipment can automatically generate jewelry items.[6]
  • Worldgen.jewelerHouseWeight is set to 2, which also matches the default. This is the weight of the Jeweler's House in village generation.[6]
Tip: If you want more jewelry from exploring, leave the dynamic loot option on, which is how this pack ships it. Jewelry can then turn up in loot tables that contain gems and equipment.[6]

Unverified How the Jeweler's House weight of 2 compares with other village buildings, and how often you'll actually find one in a village, isn't confirmed by the available sources.
