What is Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry is all about modular jewelcrafting. You build pieces of jewelry from a variety of patterns and materials, and the mod advertises more than 10,000 modular jewelry combinations. It also adds 7 new obtainable gemstone items.[1]

How crafting works

You craft jewelry from a pattern at the Jewelcrafting Station block. Some patterns you know from the start, while others have to be unlocked by looting or trading for Artisan Scrolls.[1]

Each pattern gives a type of bonus, such as bonus attributes. The materials you use decide the specific bonus, and the quality of those materials decides how strong it is. The more precious the gems, the more powerful the piece.[1]

Villager jewelers

The mod adds a new villager profession, the jeweler, who works at a Jewelcrafting Station. Jewelers buy and sell materials, sell finished pieces of jewelry, and sell the secrets of more advanced patterns.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes version 1.21.1-2.0.2 of the mod, and it has been part of the pack since version 2.4 or earlier. The mod needs Iron's Lib, Atlas API and Curios API to run.[1][2]

The mod is also highly data-driven, so its content can be expanded through datapacks and addons.[1]

Which Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Good news: Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry only has two server-side options worth knowing about in this pack, and both sit at the mod's defaults. The pack hasn't changed either one, so you get the standard behavior from the mod.[3]

Server config: Worldgen

  • Worldgen.enableDynamicJewelryLoot is set to true, which matches the default. When it's on, jewelry items are inserted dynamically into loot tables based on what those tables already contain. For example, loot tables with gems and equipment can automatically generate jewelry items.[3]
  • Worldgen.jewelerHouseWeight is set to 2, which also matches the default. This is the weight of the Jeweler's House in village generation.[3]
Tip: If you want more jewelry from exploring, leave the dynamic loot option on, which is how this pack ships it. Jewelry can then turn up in loot tables that contain gems and equipment.[3]

Unverified How the Jeweler's House weight of 2 compares with other village buildings, and how often you'll actually find one in a village, isn't confirmed by the available sources.
