What is Glassential Renewed?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.46 guide
Glassential Renewed is a building-focused mod that adds special glass types without the overhead of a big content mod. The project page pitches it as the cool glass you see in mods like Extra Utilities, such as glass that blocks light or glass that glows, in one lightweight package.[1]
The pack includes version 3.0.0 of the mod, built for NeoForge 1.21.[2]
What it adds
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
- Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with their Ethereal counterparts.[1]
- Glass doors, glass trapdoors and glass slabs, plus doors and trapdoors made of all the Glassential blocks and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors.[1]
- Frameless panels from all the glasses of the mod.[1]
The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, and it supports connected textures through Fusion. The project page says Fusion has been required since version 2.1.0.[1]
Who it is for
This is a mod for builders. If you want a glowing window, a wall you can walk through, or a glass block that outputs a redstone signal, this is where you get them. It's handy for bases, hidden entrances and redstone-driven builds, and it doesn't ask you to learn a whole tech or magic system.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests involving this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. They also don't say where the glasses unlock in progression, so treat it as a building-utility mod you can use whenever you like. Check the in-game recipes to see what each block needs. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod: it adds many kinds of glass, plus doors, trapdoors, slabs and panes made from them. You can start crafting right away, and this order gets you the most use first.[1][3]
The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, so even plain glass looks different once you start building.[1]
Step one: Luminous Glass for light
Start with Luminous Glass. It emits light just like Glowstone, so it works as a window and a light source in one block.[1]
Step two: basic doors and trapdoors
Next, make a Glass Door and a Glass TrapDoor. The trapdoor recipe builds on the Glass slab, so craft the slab first.[3]

Most of the other glass types have their own door and trapdoor recipes, and the stained glass colors have door recipes too.[1][3]
Step three: Iron Glass
The pack changed the Iron Glass recipe, so follow the recipe below rather than relying on the mod's defaults. Iron Glass is also listed as resistant to explosions in the mod's tooltips only for the protected glass family, so check the item tooltip in-game for its exact properties.[3]

Step four: glass you can walk through
Ethereal Glass is not solid to players. Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite and is only solid to players. Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities.[1][4]
You can turn Ethereal Glass into its Reverse version with a single-item recipe, and another single-item recipe turns it back.[3]
Step five: Redstone Glass
When you start on redstone builds, make Redstone Glass. It emits a strong redstone signal, like a Block of Redstone.[1][4]

How does Glassential Renewed work?
4 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod, not a tech mod. The sources describe it as various types of glass to aid your building, and none of them mention machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. What matters is how each glass behaves and how the pieces craft into each other.[1]
How the glasses behave
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1][4]
- Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities of any kind.[1][4]
- Ethereal Glass is not solid to players.[1][4]
- Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite: it is only solid to players (and fluids).[1][4]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with the Ethereal or Reverse Ethereal behavior.[1]
Switching between ethereal types
You can flip between the normal and reverse versions with shapeless crafting, so you don't have to rebuild from scratch if you picked the wrong one. This works for both the plain and the tinted versions, and the tinted reverse glass can also be converted back into tinted ethereal glass.[3]

Doors, trapdoors and panes
The special glasses have matching doors and trapdoors, such as Ghostly Glass Door, Ethereal Glass TrapDoor and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass Door. Dyed doors such as Blue Glass Door exist too. The recipes below show exactly how they are made in this pack.[3]

Panes follow the same pattern. Ghostly, ethereal, reverse ethereal and the tinted versions each craft into their own pane, such as Ghostly Glass Pane or Ethereal Glass Pane. According to the in-game tooltips, panes are frameless when inserted between blocks, and some panes are not solid to players.[3][4]
Unverified This pack has no Glassential config files that the sources here show, so no configurable values for the mod are documented.
How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
This mod's tiers come from crafting recipes, not from a quest path. Each glass block has its own recipe, and the doors, trapdoors and panes are then made from the glass block you picked. Here is a sensible order to work through them, following the in-pack recipes.[3]
Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter for this mod, so the order below follows the recipes rather than the quest book.
Plain glass basics
Start with the simple shapes. Glass slab, Glass Door and Glass TrapDoor all come from plain glass, and the trapdoor also uses the slab.[3]

Material glass
Next come the material glass blocks: Stone Glass, Sandstone Glass, Ice Glass, Obsidian Glass and Iron Glass. Obsidian Glass also has its own Obsidian Glass Door and Obsidian Glass TrapDoor.[3]
The pack has changed the Iron Glass recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Use the recipe below.[3]

Light and redstone glass
This tier covers the functional glass. Luminous Glass feeds into the glowstone lamps, and Redstone Glass has its own Redstone Glass Door and Redstone Glass TrapDoor. Both also have a tinted version: Tinted Luminous Glass and Tinted Redstone Glass.[3]

The lamps are Glowstone Lamp, Glowstone Tinted lamp, Lava Lamp and Tinted Lava Lamp. Here is the basic Lava Lamp.[3]

Ghostly and Ethereal glass
The last tier is the Ghostly and Ethereal line. Ghostly Glass is made from plain glass plus an ender pearl, and Ethereal Glass from plain glass plus an ender eye.[3]
Ethereal Glass can be switched into Reverse Ethereal Glass and back again. The same goes for the tinted pair, Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass. Tinted Ethereal Glass can be made in more than one way, and the recipes below show the routes.[3]

The colored glass doors, such as Red Glass Door, are crafted from the matching stained glass.[3]
The pack adds its own way to get the colored trapdoors, such as Red Glass Trapdoor. You make them in a stonecutter from the matching connecting glass blocks. The same applies to Tinted Glass Trapdoor.[3]

How does Glassential Renewed work with other mods?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The clearest link between Glassential Renewed and another mod in this pack is through the Connecting stained glass blocks. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that turn those blocks into Glassential's glass trapdoors.[5]
Connecting glass to glass trapdoors
Put a Connecting glass block in a stonecutter and you can cut it into the trapdoor of the same color. For example, Connecting Black Stained Glass becomes a Black Glass Trapdoor, and Connecting Blue Stained Glass becomes a Blue Glass Trapdoor.[5]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/glassential_black_glass_trapdoor
The black version, a stonecutting recipe added by the pack. The other colors follow the same pattern.
The same pattern covers every dyed color: white, orange, magenta, light blue, yellow, lime, pink, gray, light gray, cyan, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black. Tinted glass works too, with Connecting Tinted Glass giving you a Tinted Glass Trapdoor.[5]
These recipes are added by the pack, not by either mod itself, so don't assume the same stonecutting route exists in other modpacks.[5]
Connected textures
Glassential Renewed's project page says it has required Fusion since version 2.1.0, and that it fully supports connected textures through Fusion.[1]
What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?
2 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.8.0 ships Glassential Renewed 3.2.2, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the changes I can confirm from the mod's own changelogs.[6]
3.1.8
- Added an impermeable tag for all glasses, which disables drip particles (fixes issue #31).[7]
3.2.1
- Added a lava lamp and a tinted version.[8]
- Added a glowstone lamp and a tinted version.[8]
- Added iron glass.[8]
- The redstone glass door and trapdoor now emit a redstone signal.[8]
- Ethereal (trap)doors now follow the collision rules of block forms (fixes issue #24).[8]
The 3.2.1 update is the big one for variety, since it adds the new lamps and iron glass on top of the door fixes. The pack is on 3.2.2, which is one release newer than the latest changelog I have, so I can't tell you what that last update changed.[6][8]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so whether FTB Skies 2 changed any of its values or recipes is unconfirmed.
