What is Mystical Agriculture?

2 parts

Mystical Agriculture is all about growing your resources as crops. You plant crops to harvest essences, then use those essences to make materials, mob drops, tools and armor. This pack ships version 9.0.10 of the mod.[1][2]

What the mod gives you

  • Resource crops for lots of vanilla and modded ingredients, materials and mob drops.[1]
  • 6 sets of tools and armor that you can upgrade with extra abilities using Augments.[1]
  • Faster crop growth with Growth Accelerators and Watering Cans.[1]
  • Easier harvesting with Scythes and Sickles, or automatic harvesting with the Harvester.[1]
  • Upgradable Furnaces, plus the Seed Reprocessor to get more out of your spare seeds.[1]
  • The Enchanter, which turns spare resource essences into enchantments for tools, armor or books.[1]
  • The Soulium Spawner, which uses spare mob essences to spawn mobs.[1]

How the progression starts

The mod's own getting started notes give you a clear order to follow. These are written for version 2.x and later of the mod, which covers the version in this pack.[1][2]

  1. Go mining for Prosperity and Inferium ore.[1]
  2. Make some Seed Bases, which you need for any seed you want to create.[1]
  3. Craft seeds with an Infusion Altar and Infusion Pedestals. Placing the altar in the world shows you where the pedestals go.[1]
  4. Make Inferium Seeds as another source of Inferium Essence. Planting them on Essence Farmland gives you more essence per harvest.[1]
  5. Make normal resource seeds from some of their resource plus the tier essence of the seed. To upgrade the tier of an essence, you need an Infusion Crystal.[1]

Mob seeds work differently. They need Soul Jars of the matching mob type, and you fill the jars by killing those mobs with a Soulium Dagger while the jars are in your inventory.[1]

How do you get started with Mystical Agriculture?

2 parts

Mystical Agriculture is all about growing your resources as crops. Everything starts with Inferium Essence, so the first steps are about getting a steady supply of it and the Prosperity Shards you need for seeds.[1][3]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Go mining for Inferium and Prosperity ore. Both ores still generate in this pack (World.generateInferiumOre and World.generateProsperityOre are on), and they give you Inferium Essence and Prosperity Shard.[1][3][4]
  2. Make some Seed Bases. You need them for any seed you want to craft later.[1]
  3. Build an Infusion Altar with Infusion Pedestals. Seeds are crafted there, not in a normal crafting grid. Place the altar first and it shows you where the pedestals go.[1][4]
  4. Craft Inferium Seeds. They are your second source of Inferium Essence.[1]
  5. Plant them on Essence Farmland for more Inferium Essence per harvest. You can craft it, or right-click vanilla Farmland with an essence. General.essenceFarmlandConversion is on in this pack, so the right-click method works.[1][4]
  6. Make an Infusion Crystal when you want to upgrade the tier of your essence. The basic one has 1,000 uses in this pack, which matches the mod default (General.infusionCrystalUses).[1][4]
Watch out: The mod normally lets mobs drop Inferium Essence, but this pack sets General.inferiumDropChance to 0 (the mod default is 0.2). Killing mobs will not give you Inferium Essence here, so rely on ore and Inferium Seeds instead.[1][4]
Tip: Vanilla crafting recipes for seeds are turned off in this pack (General.seedCraftingRecipes is false), so the Infusion Altar is the way to make them.[4]

Getting essence from ore

Besides smelting, the pack adds machine recipes that turn the ores into essence and shards. The Ender IO SAG Mill, for example, gives Inferium Essence or Prosperity Shards along with cobbled deepslate. Here are two of the recipes.[3]

      How does Mystical Agriculture work?

      6 parts

Mystical Agriculture is built on three ideas: you grow essences on resource crops, you use altars to turn those essences into seeds, tools and upgrades, and you use a handful of machines to process everything. Here is how those pieces behave in this pack.[1][5]

      Growing: farmland, accelerators and watering

Right-clicking vanilla Farmland with an essence turns it into Essence Farmland, and the pack leaves that on. The pack also leaves resource crops free to grow on any farmland: General.requiresEffectiveFarmland is false, so a crop does not need its matching tier of farmland to grow. The farmland tiers still exist as blocks (Inferium, Prudentium, Tertium, Imperium, Supremium and Awakened Supremium).[4][5]

Growth Accelerators come in the same tiers. In this pack the time between each accelerator growth tick is 10 seconds, which is the mod default (General.growthAcceleratorCooldown). Watering Cans also speed crops up, and General.fakePlayerWatering is on, so fake players (for example from automation mods) can use them.[1][4][5]

Harvesting a resource crop has a 0.1 chance to drop a Fertilized Essence (General.fertilizedEssenceChance, same as the mod default). Crops do not give a second seed when harvested, because General.secondarySeedDrops is false, and vanilla-style crafting recipes for seeds are not generated (General.seedCraftingRecipes is false).[4]

Watch out: The pack changed General.inferiumDropChance from the mod default of 0.2 to 0. Mobs do not drop Inferium Essence here, so plan your early Inferium supply around Inferium Seeds, ore and the processing recipes below.[4]

      Altars and pedestals

Seeds are made at an Infusion Altar surrounded by Infusion Pedestals. When you place the altar in the world, it shows you where the pedestals go. The Awakening Altar and Awakening Pedestal are a second altar set used for the elemental, Awakened Supremium content. There are also Infusion and Awakening Altarnator entries in the guide book.[1][5][6][7]

The pack holds 59 recipes of the infusion type and 19 of the awakening type. Here is one awakening recipe, which makes an Awakened Supremium Block.[3]

      Awakening (mysticalagriculture)

        Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:awakened_supremium_block_awakening

Awakening recipes are made at the Awakening Altar.

To upgrade the tier of an essence you need an Infusion Crystal. The basic one has 1,000 uses in this pack (General.infusionCrystalUses, the same as the mod default).[1][4]

        Machines

The machine blocks in the mod are the Harvester, Furnace, Seed Reprocessor, Enchanter, Ore Infuser, Soul Extractor and Soulium Spawner, plus a Machine Frame block and the Tinkering Table for tools and armor. The in-game guide has a Machines category that covers them.[5]

        • Harvester: harvests your fields automatically.[1]
        • Furnace: processes resources and can be upgraded.[1]
        • Seed Reprocessor: gets more out of your extra seeds. The pack has 86 reprocessor recipes.[1][3]
        • Enchanter: spends extra resource essences to enchant tools, armor or books.[1]
        • Soulium Spawner: spawns mobs using your extra mob essences.[1]

        Reprocessor (mysticalagriculture)

          Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:seed/reprocessor/air

The Seed Reprocessor recipe for Air gives 2 Air Essence.

Mob seeds need Soul Jars of their mob type. You fill the jars by carrying them in your inventory while you kill that mob with a Soulium Dagger.[1]

          Automating with other mods

The pack adds recipes in other mods so essences and seeds can come from machines. FTB Industrial Contraptions has 102 hydroponic growth recipes and 39 hydroponic mutation recipes that make Mystical Agriculture items. LTX Industries has 136 garden simulating recipes, one per result. The Air recipe below makes Air Essence, Air Seeds and Fertilized Essence.[3]

The LTX Industries version gives Air Essence.

Mystical Automation adds a Farmer machine, and it has a recipe that outputs Inferium Essence for Inferium Seeds. That is handy since mobs no longer drop it in this pack. The pack also adds a mutation recipe that produces Amethyst Seeds.[3][4]

                Ore, fluid and bee processing

The pack adds unification recipes so Prosperity Ore gives Prosperity Shard in several mods' machines: Ender IO (SAG Mill), FTB Industrial Contraptions (macerator), Horse Powered, LTX Industries and Occultism. Energized Power has a pulverizer recipe that gives Inferium Essence.[3]

For fluids, Hephaestus Forge has a pack-added casting table recipe that turns 90 of Molten Awakened Supremium (a fluid from Mystical Agradditions) into an Awakened Supremium Gemstone. Productive Bees also has a centrifuge recipe that gives Awakened Supremium Essence and Wax from an Awakened Supremium honeycomb.[3]

How do you progress through Mystical Agriculture?

                4 parts

Mystical Agriculture splits its progression into essence tiers, and you can see the names right in the items: Inferium Essence, Imperium Essence, Supremium Essence and Awakened Supremium Essence. This page follows the in-pack recipes for each of them.[3]

                Inferium essence

Deepslate inferium ore drops 2 to 4 Inferium Essence, and Fortune boosts that. If you mine it with Silk Touch you get the ore block itself instead.[17]

The pack adds a lot of machine recipes that turn the ore into essence, from Ender IO, Energized Power, FTB Industrial Contraptions, Occultism, Oritech and more, so whichever tech you use can process it. Plain smelting works too.[3]

                    Growing essence in machines

The pack adds its own farming recipes for the resource crops. LTX Industries has garden simulating recipes, and FTB Industrial Contraptions has hydroponic growth recipes that give essence, seeds and Fertilized Essence together. Air, aluminum and amethyst all have both.[3]

                    Hydroponic Growth (ftbic)

                      Recipe id: ftbic:hydroponic_growth/mysticalagriculture/air

Hydroponic growth for air, added by the pack.

Hydroponic mutation recipes added by the pack also make Amethyst Seeds and Blaze Seeds.[3]

                        Imperium

Imperium Essence has a shaped crafting recipe. Imperium also has a gemstone cast on a Hephaestus Forge casting table, a recipe the pack adds.[3]

There is a recipe that gives 4 Supremium Essence.[3]

Awakened Supremium items are made through awakening recipes, and the Awakening Altar and Awakening Pedestal both exist as blocks. The Awakened Supremium Block and the Awakened Machine Supremium Upgrade both come from awakening.[3][18][19]

The block can be uncrafted into 9 Awakened Supremium Essence. The pack also adds a casting table recipe for the Awakened Supremium Gemstone.[3]

Tip: Break Awakened Supremium Farmland without Silk Touch and, going by the loot table in the mod's jar, you get dirt plus a 0.25 chance of Awakened Supremium Essence. Use Silk Touch to pick the farmland up intact.[20]

How does Mystical Agriculture work with other mods?

                            3 parts

In this pack, Mystical Agriculture connects to other mods mainly through recipes: Productive Bees turns bee products into Mystical Agriculture materials, and a casting table turns molten fluids from Mystical Agradditions into gemstones. The sources here do not show any quests involving the mod, so everything below comes from the recipe data.[3]

                            Productive Bees

Productive Bees has centrifuge recipes for Mystical Agriculture materials. Each one gives you an essence (or a similar material) together with Wax. These are the outputs:[3]

Productive Bees also has bee conversion recipes for two Mystical Agriculture bees. The Prosperity bee comes from a Prosperity Block, and the Soulium bee comes from a Soulium Dagger.[3]

                            Casting gemstones

The pack adds its own casting table recipes that turn molten fluids from Mystical Agradditions into Mystical Agriculture gemstones. Every one of them needs 90 of the matching molten fluid. Hephaestus Forge is the other mod in the pack's mod list, and the recipe type here is the Hephaestus casting table.[3]

                            Supremium GemstoneAdded by the pack

                            Ender IO's Copper Alloy

Mystical Agriculture has a Copper Alloy crop in its Ender IO set. The pack hides Copper Alloy Seeds and Copper Alloy Essence from recipe viewers, so you will not find them by browsing JEI.[1][21]

Which Mystical Agriculture config options matter?

                            4 parts

Nearly everything you can tweak in Mystical Agriculture lives in one file, config/mysticalagriculture-common.toml. Here is how this pack sets the options you are most likely to care about.[4]

                            The value the pack changed

The file marks one option as changed by the pack: General.inferiumDropChance. It controls the chance that a passive or hostile mob drops an Inferium Essence when killed. The mod default is 0.2, but this pack sets it to 0.[4]

Watch out: With the drop chance at 0, killing mobs will not give you Inferium Essence in this pack. Do not expect it from mob farms.[4]

What changed in Mystical Agriculture between versions?

                            1 part

The version of Mystical Agriculture in FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 is 9.0.10, built for Minecraft 26.1.2. It was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so you may have been playing with this mod for a while.[2]

                            9.0.10

                            • Fixed a crash that happened when you inserted fuel into the Soulium Spawner. This is the only change listed in the mod's 9.0.10 changelog.[22]

Unverified The sources here do not show any pack changelog entries for Mystical Agriculture, so changes made to the mod between pack releases are not covered. Check the pack's own release notes for those.
