What is XyCraft Machines?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.17a guide
XyCraft Machines is part of the pack. This pack ships version 0.7.45 (the file xycraft_machines-0.7.45.jar), and the mod has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm what the mod does or who it is aimed at. The sources I have are only the pack's mod list, with no guidebook or platform description. I also couldn't confirm any recipes, configs or progression details, so I'm not guessing at them here.
Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star quest path. That is based on what I was told about this mod rather than on a source I can cite, so check it in-game if it matters to you.
How do you get started with XyCraft Machines?

XyCraft Machines gives you a big set of crafting-table machines. Every item below has a recipe in the pack, and the recipe blocks show the exact in-pack ingredients. The order here is a suggested path based on what each block does, starting with the basics and moving on to automation.[2][3]
Tools and the Machine Base
Start with the Aluminum Wrench. The tooltip on Item IO says its fill or drain side can be toggled with a wrench, so you will want one in hand before you set machines up.[2][3]

Fluids and tanks
The Valve is how you build tanks. Its tooltip says it allows the creation of tanks and shows a maximum size. The Hydro Pump then pumps water automatically into a connected tank.[2][3]

Gathering and automating
The Extractor pulls items and fluids out of the environment, so it is your first resource gatherer. The Collector is filterable and collects items before they become entities.[2][3]

Bio resin in this pack
The Block of Bio Resin has a compacting recipe in the mod, and a matching unpacking recipe gives you 9 Bio Resin Ball items. The pack also adds two other routes to the block, one in Energized Power and one in Horse Powered.[2]

How does XyCraft Machines work?

The sources for this mod are mostly its own tooltips and names, so this section covers what each machine is for and how the pieces connect, not exact rates or sizes. Where a tooltip shows a number only in-game, I point you to the tooltip instead of guessing.[3]
The machines
- Extractor: its tooltip says it extracts items and fluids out of the environment.[3]
- Fabricator: crafts items automatically. Its screen has three modes labelled Always On, High Signal and Pulse.[3]
- Collector: filterable, and it collects items before they become entities.[3]
- Ignition Plate: the tooltip calls it "Fire on demand!"[3]
- Void Container: a black hole you can use to void things.[3]
- Accelerated Planter (Accelerated Planter) is also part of the mod, but the sources here do not describe how it works.[3]

Power
The Durable Cell keeps its stored energy when you break it and pick it up: its drop copies the energy component from XyCraft Core. Plain loot tables for other blocks in the mod, like the Buffer, Collector and Extractor, only drop the block itself.[5][6][7][8]
The mod also has a Charger, whose tooltip says it charges items using external energy. For testing, there are creative blocks: the Energy Selector creates an unlimited amount of energy, the Fluid Selector an unlimited amount of a selected fluid, and the Item Selector an unlimited amount of a selected item. The mod also lists a Creative Cell.[3]

Fluids and tanks
The Valve is what lets you build tanks. Its tooltip says it allows the creation of tanks and shows a maximum size, so check the tooltip in-game for the number. Tank screens show a Capacity line and an Empty state.[3]
The Hydro Pump automatically pumps water into a connected tank. Its tooltip also says it can be extracted from at a higher rate, and it lists a base rate and a waterlogged rate per cycle. Those numbers are filled in by the game, so read them off the tooltip.[3]
The Fluid Void stops fluids from flowing into adjacent blocks, which is handy for keeping a fluid where you want it.[3]

Item and fluid handling
The Item IO has a fill side and a drain side, and you can toggle which is which with a wrench. The mod also has Item Port and Fluid Port, plus Energy and Chemical ports and separate Energy and Fluid pipes.[3]
The mod has Attribute, Fluid, List and Scalar filter meshes. The sources here do not say which machine uses which mesh.[3]
If you have Jade, the mod adds plugin options named Tank Info, Extractor Info and Energy Pipe Debug.[3]

Lighting and spawn control
The Light Field prevents spawns in a cubed volume, and its tooltip shows a radius. The Illumination Field illuminates a volume of area. The Flare Rod places a light and consumes something to do it, which the tooltip spells out. The pack changed the Flare Rod recipe, so use the one shown here.[3][4]

Bio Resin in this pack
This pack registers its own Bio Resin fluid in a startup script and gives it XyCraft's resin textures. The Block of Bio Resin (Block of Bio Resin) can then be made in several ways: the mod's compacting recipe, an Energized Power fluid freezer recipe that takes 1,000 of the Bio Resin fluid, and a Horse Powered pressing recipe. The last two are added by the pack. Unpacking a block gives 9 Bio Resin Ball.[4][9]

The sources for this pack do not show a tier ladder for XyCraft Machines, and they do not list recipe ingredients or any ordering between machines. So I will not invent a tier list. What follows is what the pack's recipes do confirm.[2]
Machine Base and the core machines
The Machine Base is crafted in batches, and the recipe below gives you 2 at a time. The Extractor, Collector, Fabricator, Buffer and Durable Cell each have their own crafting recipe in the pack.[2]

The pack also adds two extra ways to get a Block of Bio Resin. Energized Power has a fluid freezer recipe that turns 1,000 of ftb:bio_resin into one block, and Horse Powered has a pressing recipe for it. The mod's own compacting recipe is still there too.[2]

How does XyCraft Machines work with other mods?

In this pack, XyCraft Machines connects to other mods through one item: the Block of Bio Resin (Block of Bio Resin). The recipes below are the only ones in the sources that use items from XyCraft Machines and another mod together.[4]
Bio Resin, the pack's own fluid
Bio Resin (Bio Resin) is a fluid the pack adds itself with a startup script, under its own namespace rather than the mod's. It borrows the resin still and flowing textures from XyCraft Machines, so it looks like the mod's resin.[9]
Turning Bio Resin into a Block of Bio Resin
The pack adds a recipe to the Fluid Freezer from Energized Power that turns 1,000 of Bio Resin into one Block of Bio Resin.[4]
