What is Ender IO: Evolution?

1 part

The project page describes Ender IO: Evolution as an unofficial add-on for Ender IO that offers extreme-capacity conduits, multi-parallel processing machines and high-tier endgame alloys.[1]

This pack ships version 4.0.1 of the NeoForge build, and it has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]

What it adds

  • The project page lists new alloys, from Crude Steel and Construction Alloy up to Vivid, Crystalline, Melodic and Stellar Alloy.[1]
  • The page lists high-tier capacitors, from basic Silver Capacitors to the Stellar Capacitor, plus grinding balls made from the new alloys that it says boost output percentages and secondary drop rates.[1]
  • The page lists four cross-mod capacitors tied to Allthemodium: the ATM, Vibranium, Unobtainium and Piglich Capacitors.[1]
  • The page lists high-capacity conduits for items, fluids and chemicals in all versions of the mod. Energy conduits are part of the 1.21.1 NeoForge version, and the 1.20.1 Forge version leaves them out.[1]
  • Multi-parallel machine clusters for SAG Mills, Alloy Smelters and Vats (the page says the roster is currently these three, and that Vats exist in 1.21.1 only). The page says the top-tier Stellar SAG Mill has 10 independent input slots, so it can run up to 10 parallel crafts at once.[1]
  • A Simple Stirling Generator, and the Ender Memory Card, a config copier that the page says supports one-click full copy of all Ender IO conduits in a block.[1]
Tip: For the 1.21.1 NeoForge version, the project page says the crafting recipes for metal ingots and energy conduits were rewritten compared with the old 1.12.2 mod, so don't rely on recipes you remember from older Ender IO add-ons. Check the in-pack recipes instead.[1]

The project page also notes that modpack authors may change recipes and loot tables with data packs, config files or tools like KubeJS, so the page describes the mod in general and not this pack's exact values.[1]

How do you get started with Ender IO: Evolution?

4 parts

Ender IO: Evolution is an unofficial add-on for Ender IO. It adds capacitors, grinding balls, metal blocks, new conduits, parallel SAG mills, alloy smelters and vats, and high-tier alloys on top of the base mod.[1]

The add-on's machines come as a Basic version and as versions named after alloys (Crystalline Alloy, Melodic Alloy, Stellar Alloy and Vivid Alloy smelters, SAG mills and vats). Many of its grinding balls, capacitors and conduits are named after alloys too.[3]

Your first alloy ingots

Begin with Crude Steel Ingot. Ender IO's alloy smelting has its own recipe for it, and this pack adds routes through Energized Power and FTB Industrial Contraptions as well, so you can use whichever machine setup you already have.[4]

Added by the pack: the same ingot from an Energized Power alloy furnace. FTB Industrial Contraptions gets an alloy smelting version too.

The other alloys follow the same pattern. Construction Alloy Ingot, Crystalline Alloy Ingot, Crystalline Pink Slime Ingot, Melodic Alloy Ingot, Energetic Silver Ingot and Stellar Alloy Ingot each have an Ender IO alloy smelting recipe, shown below. The pack also adds Energized Power alloy furnace recipes for each of them.[4]

                  Energetic Silver and Vivid Alloy

The pack gives Energetic Silver a casting route through Hephaestus Forge. A casting table makes an ingot from 90 units of Molten Energetic Silver and a nugget from 10 units, and a casting basin makes a block from 810 units.[4]

                      Config notes

enableNewConduits is true, so the new energy conduits are registered. The grinding ball settings match the mod defaults. For example, the crude steel ball's grinding_balls.crude_steel_ball.duration is 24,000, the same as the mod default.[6]

How does Ender IO: Evolution work?

                      8 parts

Ender IO: Evolution is an unofficial add-on for Ender IO. Its project page sums it up as extreme-capacity conduits, multi-parallel processing machines and high-tier endgame alloys. This section covers how those systems behave in the pack, as far as the available files show.[1]

                      Machine tiers

The mod adds three processing machines: a SAG Mill, an Alloy Smelter and a Vat. The Basic tier has all three. The Crystalline Alloy, Melodic Alloy, Stellar Alloy and Vivid Alloy tiers each have a SAG Mill, a Smelter and a Vat as well. There is also a Simple Machine Frame block.[3]

The loot tables for the Basic and Crystalline machines check an is_dummy block state. The machine item only drops when is_dummy is false. The Simple Stirling Generator and the Infinity Generators have no such check.[7][8][9][10][11][12]

                      Machine screen options

The mod's language file lists a few controls that show up in its machine screens:[3]

                      • Auto-distribute Inputs: a toggle for spreading inputs across the machine.[3]
                      • Run Only With Grinding Ball: a toggle that makes the machine run only while a grinding ball is present.[3]
                      • Current State, with On and Off values.[3]
                      • Configure Upgrades and Toggle Upgrade Panel, for the upgrade slots.[3]

                      Upgrades and capacitors

The mod has Batch Upgrades and Stack Upgrades in Basic, Crystalline and Stellar versions. The language file also has batch install messages: one reports how many machines were updated and how many components were consumed, and another says the operation is cancelled when no upgradable machines are in range or all have reached maximum configuration.[3]

Capacitors go into the machine's capacitor slot. If the slot already holds an identical or higher-tier capacitor, the game tells you so. The mod's capacitors run from the Silver Capacitor up to the Stellar Capacitor. Four cross-mod capacitors are listed with levels: ATM Capacitor (5.5), Vibranium Capacitor (6.0), Unobtainium Capacitor (6.5) and Piglich Capacitor (7.5). The project page also says the Grains of Infinity Capacitor has no durability limit.[1][3]

                      Grinding balls

Grinding balls are consumables for the machines, and each one has four config values: outputMultiplier, bonusMultiplier, powerUse and duration. The project page says they significantly boost output percentages and secondary drop rates. In this pack every ball keeps its mod default value. These are the values in the pack's common config:[1][6]

                      • Crude Steel Grinding Ball: output 1.2, bonus 1.2, power use 0.85, duration 24,000.[6]
                      • Construction Alloy Grinding Ball: output 1, bonus 0.33, power use 0.25, duration 12,000.[6]
                      • Energetic Silver Grinding Ball: output 1.6, bonus 1.6, power use 1.1, duration 80,000.[6]
                      • Vivid Alloy Grinding Ball: output 1.75, bonus 1.35, power use 1.35, duration 80,000.[6]
                      • Crystalline Alloy Grinding Ball: output 1.8, bonus 1.4, power use 1.45, duration 80,000.[6]
                      • Crystalline Pink Slime Grinding Ball: output 1.75, bonus 1.55, power use 1.55, duration 88,000.[6]
                      • Melodic Alloy Grinding Ball: output 2, bonus 1.45, power use 1.55, duration 88,000.[6]
                      • Stellar Alloy Grinding Ball: output 2.3, bonus 2.25, power use 2.2, duration 176,000.[6]
Tip: Tweak a ball's values in grinding_balls.alloy_ball_stellar_alloy.powerUse and its siblings. The Stellar ball has the biggest multipliers, but it also has the highest power use, so check your power supply first.[6]

                      Power generation

The mod adds a Simple Stirling Generator and Basic, Crystalline and Stellar Infinity Generators. The generator screen shows the current output as "Generating: %s RF/t" and a "Base Multiplier" value.[3]

                      The Totem of Undying Capacitor

The Totem of Undying Capacitor has its own rules. Its tooltip says Efficiency maxes out at level V, which gives a Level 6 capacitor. Unbreaking maxes out at level III, for up to 140% expected durability. Mending is supported, and works when the capacitor is in your offhand.[3]

It only loses durability in machines that work on a strict per-operation basis. In continuous machines such as generators or farming stations, its lifespan is permanently locked.[3]

                      Slicing (enderio)

                        Recipe id: enderio_evolution:slicing/undying_totem_capacitor

This is a slicing recipe from the mod.

In this pack UndyingTotemCapacitor.enableCustomMath is false, so the capacitor uses its hardcoded tier logic. The other server settings below only matter if you turn that option on. Each of them matches the mod default in this pack.[5]

                        Conduits and logistics

The mod adds Melodic and Stellar conduits for items, fluids and chemicals. It also adds a Speedy Item Conduit and a family of energy conduits, from Crude Energy up to Stellar Energy. The pack's common config enables them with enableNewConduits set to true.[3][6]

The project page lists these capacities: the Melodic Alloy Item Conduit moves 256,000 items per 4t and the Stellar Alloy Item Conduit moves 2,000,000 items per 4t. For fluids, the Melodic Alloy Fluid Conduit moves 256,000 mB per 4t and the Stellar Alloy Fluid Conduit moves 2,147,483,647 mB per 4t. These come from the mod's description, not from a pack config file.[1]

Making the alloys in this pack

The mod ships alloy smelting recipes for its ingots, and the pack adds extra routes from other mods. Crude Steel and Energetic Silver ingots can also be made in Energized Power alloy furnaces and FTB Industrial Contraptions alloy smelting.[4]

How do you progress through Ender IO: Evolution?

                                  6 parts

This page walks through the machine tiers, the alloy ladder and the capacitors of Ender IO: Evolution in this pack, and shows the in-pack recipes for each.[4]

                                  Machine tiers

Several machines come in a basic and a crystalline version. That covers the alloy smelter (Basic Alloy Smelter and Crystalline Alloy Smelter), the SAG mill (Basic SAG Mill and Crystalline Alloy SAG Mill) and the vat (Basic Vat and Crystalline Alloy Vat). Generators follow the same pattern with Basic Infinity Generator and Crystalline Infinity Generator, and there is also a Simple Stirling Generator.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]

                                  The alloy ladder

Each of these alloy ingots has its own Ender IO alloy smelting recipe: Crude Steel Ingot, Construction Alloy Ingot, Crystalline Alloy Ingot, Crystalline Pink Slime Ingot, Melodic Alloy Ingot, Stellar Alloy Ingot, Vivid Alloy Ingot and Energetic Silver Ingot. Here are a few of the base recipes.[4]

Extra routes added by the pack

The pack adds more ways to make these ingots, so you are not locked into one machine. Every ingot above has a recipe in the Energized Power alloy furnace and in the FTB Industrial Contraptions alloy smelting machine. Crude steel, energetic silver, construction alloy and crystalline alloy also get an extra Ender IO alloy smelting recipe that works from ingots.[4]

Energetic silver and vivid alloy can also be cast. Casting an ingot takes 90 of the molten metal, a nugget takes 10 and a block takes 810, using the Hephaestus Forge casting table and basin. Oritech adds a foundry recipe for vivid alloy too.[4]

                                              Infinity dust and grinding balls

Infinity dust blocks come in plain, compressed and double compressed forms: Infinity Dust Block, Compressed Infinity Dust Block and Double Compressed Infinity Dust Block. Putting any of them through a SAG mill gives you Grains of Infinity, which is what the Grains of Infinity Capacitor is named after.[4]

How does Ender IO: Evolution work with other mods?

                                                2 parts

In this pack, Ender IO: Evolution connects to Hephaestus Forge, which casts its metals, and to Ender IO itself, whose Sag Mill recipe type covers its infinity dust blocks. These are the links the in-pack recipes show.[4]

                                                Casting metals with Hephaestus Forge

The pack adds casting recipes so you can turn ftb:molten_energetic_silver and ftb:molten_vivid_alloy into Energetic Silver Ingot and Vivid Alloy Ingot. They run on the casting table and casting basin from Hephaestus Forge. These recipes are added by the pack, not by the mod itself.[4]

Both metals use the same amounts of molten fluid for each shape:[4]

                                                • Nugget: 10 of the molten fluid, cast on the casting table.[4]
                                                • Ingot: 90 of the molten fluid, cast on the casting table.[4]
                                                • Block: 810 of the molten fluid, cast in the casting basin.[4]

Nuggets are cast the same way, so you can also make Energetic Silver Nugget and Vivid Alloy Nugget. The finished blocks are Energetic Silver Block and Vivid Alloy Block.[4]

                                                Infinity dust and Ender IO

The mod also has Sag Milling recipes for Infinity Dust Block, Compressed Infinity Dust Block and Double Compressed Infinity Dust Block. They use the Sag Mill recipe type from Ender IO and are listed as mod recipes, not pack changes. Each one gives Grains of Infinity among its outputs.[4]

Which Ender IO: Evolution config options matter?

                                                  11 parts

Here is the quick summary: in this pack, every Ender IO: Evolution option in the common and server config files is set to the mod's own default. The pack did not change any of them. So you can read the numbers below as the stock mod values, and if you edit one you are moving away from what the pack ships.[5][6]

                                                  Conduits

enableNewConduits decides whether the mod registers its new energy conduits. The pack leaves it on (true).[6]

                                                  Grinding balls

Every grinding ball in the common config has a power use, a duration, an output multiplier and a bonus multiplier. All of them match the mod defaults in this pack. Here is each ball in turn.[6]

                                                  Crude steel ball

                                                  Construction alloy ball

                                                  Energetic silver ball

                                                  Vivid alloy ball

                                                  Crystalline alloy ball

                                                  Crystalline pink slime ball

                                                  Melodic alloy ball

                                                  Stellar alloy ball

                                                  Undying Totem Capacitor

The server config controls how the Undying Totem Capacitor is calculated. UndyingTotemCapacitor.enableCustomMath is false in the pack, so the capacitor uses the hardcoded vanilla tier logic rather than the custom calculation.[5]

The custom calculation options are also at their defaults. For Efficiency, the final capacitor level is the base level plus the effective enchant level times the increment per enchant level.[5]

What changed in Ender IO: Evolution between versions?

                                                  2 parts

The sources here cover one release of Ender IO: Evolution: version 4.0.1-NeoForge-26.1.2. That is the version FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships, and the pack's mod list says it was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier.[2][16]

                                                  4.0.1: port to NeoForge 26.1.2

This release moves the mod's contents from NeoForge 1.21.1 to NeoForge 26.1.2. The changelog lists what came across in the port:[16]

                                                  Smart component installation

The smart insertion feature was ported too. It lets you install upgrades without opening the machine's screen.[16]

                                                  1. Hold any capacitor or machine upgrade plugin and aim at a machine.[16]
