What is Nature's Aura?

2 parts

Nature's Aura is all about collecting, using and replenishing the Aura that is naturally present in the world, then turning it into useful devices and unique mechanics. The pack ships version 41.7, and the mod needs Patchouli to run, since its guide is a Patchouli book.[1][2]

Aura isn't stored in floating nodes. It is everywhere in the world, and the types you find depend on the dimension you're in. That makes this a great mod if you like building machines that work with your surroundings instead of just burning fuel.[3]

What you'll do with it

The Natural Altar pulls Aura from the environment to help you make new materials like Infused Iron Ingot. The Extraneous Firestarter uses Aura to run a furnace without fuel. Many items are made through the Ritual of the Forest, such as the Ancient Sapling.[1][4][5]

You can also put Aura back. Ancient Trees slowly raise Aura levels around them, and the Herbivorous Absorber turns nearby small flowers into Aura. It works best when you feed it several different kinds of flowers.[5][6]

Watch out: Don't drain an area completely. Doing that gives you diminishing returns. Too little Aura causes Natural Decay in the environment, while an excess can cause positive effects like Vegetational Increase.[1][3]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack has a dedicated Nature's Aura quest chapter that walks you through the mod. It opens with a single item and then branches out into several paths.[7]

  1. Start with a quest in "?" for Brilliant Fiber, then a quest in "?" asks for 4 Gold Leaf.[7]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for an oak or jungle sapling, 8 Wooden Stand and 16 Gold Powder. It opens the early branches, including the Environmental Eye, the Ancient Sapling and the Aura bottles.[7]
  3. From the Token of Joy quest you reach the Natural Altar quest, which leads on to Infused Iron Ingot and Tainted Gold Ingot.[7]
  4. Later quests cover the Ingot of the Skies, the Aura Trove, the Ingot of the Depths, the Altar of Birthing and the Staff of Riches.[7]

The basic tools chapter also has quests for this mod's gear. The Botanist's Blade and Botanist's Pickaxe each count as an alternative to a Roots Classic tool, and the Skyseeker's Blade counts as an alternative to the Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks magehunter. The Skyseeker's Pickaxe, Soulstrider's Blade and Soulstrider's Pickaxe have their own quests.[8]

Tip: Craft the Book of Natural Aura early. New chapters unlock as you complete advancements, and orange icons point you to your next research step.[1][9]

How do you get started with Nature's Aura?

5 parts

Welcome to Nature's Aura! Everything here starts with the Book of Natural Aura, which holds the information on the mod and unlocks new chapters as you complete advancements. The pack's quest chain lines up neatly with that progression, so we'll follow it step by step.[1][7][9]

Unverified The recipe for the Book of Natural Aura itself is not in the sources I was given, so check in game for how to craft it.

Step 1: Brilliant Fiber and Gold Leaf

The first quest asks for Brilliant Fiber, and it is a plain crafting table recipe.[7][10]

Next you need four Gold Leaf (a quest in "?"). The matching advancement is about creating and harvesting a Brilliant Tree, so that is where your leaf comes from.[7][11]

Unverified The sources don't say exactly how to turn Brilliant Fiber into a Brilliant Tree, so check the Book of Natural Aura for that step.

Step 2: Prepare the Ritual of the Forest

The Ritual of the Forest is how you make the first magical items. The next quest (a quest in "?") asks for an oak or jungle sapling, 8 Wooden Stand and 16 Gold Powder.[1][7][11]

Step 3: Your first ritual items

Once that quest is done, several quests open up. The pack changed the recipes for the Token of Joy and the Environmental Eye, so use the versions below.[7][10]

The Environmental Eye lets you see the Aura in your area. That matters because draining an area completely brings diminishing returns, so you'll want to keep an eye on it.[3][11]

Step 4: The Natural Altar

The Natural Altar collects Aura from the environment to make new materials such as Infused Iron. Its recipe is also changed in the pack. The quest (a quest in "?") also asks for 8 Golden Stone Bricks and 4 chiseled stone bricks.[1][7][10]

Step 5: Infused Iron and Tainted Gold

With the altar built, you can make Infused Iron Ingot and Tainted Gold Ingot. The pack changed both altar recipes, so follow the ones shown here rather than what you may remember from the mod's defaults. Infused Iron is a key material for later devices, and the quests for it and for Tainted Gold both follow the altar quest.[7][10]

Tip: From here the chain splits into tools, storage like the Aura Cache, and the Offering Table for Ingots of the Skies. The Book of Natural Aura will keep pointing you to the next step with orange icons.[7][9]

How does Nature's Aura work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Aura works differently from most mod energy systems, so it's worth understanding before you build anything. It isn't stored in floating nodes. It is present everywhere in the world, and the dimension you're in changes which kind of Aura you get. Adding or removing it affects an area around the spot where the change happened, and the size of that area depends on the apparatus you used.[3]

If you drain an area and then add a generating device, the new device renews the drained area first and only then fills its own surroundings. A draining device placed near a rich area behaves the same way in reverse. Aura also drifts around to balance itself out, so give a setup some time before you judge it. There's one more behavior to watch: Aura fizzling. Once Aura has spread far enough from where it started, it slowly fizzles out. Closer to the origin it isn't affected.[3]

Reading Aura levels

The Environmental Eye shows you what's going on while you hold it in your hotbar. One bar shows how full an Aura-bearing block is. Another bar at the top left shows the Aura around you, and half full means the default level. When Aura goes past either end of the bar, the Eye can't tell you by how much.[12]

The Environmental Ocular is the upgrade. Its gauge is twice as large, and it shows active Aura Imbalance effects as icons next to the bar. A crossed-out icon means the effect needs Effect Powder that isn't present, or that it's currently being inhibited by its powder. It also works from anywhere in your inventory, not just the hotbar.[13]

For monitoring from a distance, the Aura Detector outputs a redstone signal based on the nearby Aura, as long as you attach a Comparator to it. Its range is similar to the Eye's. The pack changes this recipe, so use the one below rather than any default you remember.[14][15]

Creating Aura and its limit

Most creation devices can't push Aura past the range of the Environmental Eye by default. Once an area gets close to that point, some devices shut off completely and others keep running without creating anything. When that happens you'll see red sparks coming from them. You can also stop them manually with an Aura Detector or similar.[16]

The Creational Catalyst removes that limit. Place it directly below a creational device and the device can generate far beyond the normal cap, at no extra cost. Keep fizzling in mind, though, because endless generation may be of little use. The Aura Detector is the suggested way to deal with that.[3][17]

  • Ancient Trees slowly raise Aura back toward normal through their leaves, but the leaves die off as they give up their Aura. They only work in the overworld.[5]
  • The Disentangler of Mortals frees the soul of a passive animal killed close to it as a big burst of Aura. Babies give less, and the longer an animal has lived, the significantly more it gives. The guide suggests waiting about one and a half hours. Those animals won't drop their usual loot, and giving it another death while it's still converting a soul wastes both the soul and the drops.[18]
  • The Reaper of Ender Heights needs a chorus flower grown at most about two blocks away. Once the plant is tall enough, a redstone signal makes it harvest the whole plant. The higher and broader the plant, the more Aura you get.[19]
  • The Rose of Oblivion grows after the Ender Dragon dies. Drop an Ender Eye next to it and it consumes the eye and releases a lot of Aura. You can't stop or harvest it mid-process, and it doesn't need a Creational Catalyst.[20]
  • The Firecracker Gaze launches fireworks dropped around it and turns the explosion into Aura, depending on how complex the firework is. Fireworks dropped while it is already busy are consumed for nothing, so automate it with a timer.[21]
  • The Herbivorous Absorber consumes small flowers nearby. Feeding it the same flower over and over stops it from getting Aura out of that flower, and it takes about six different kinds for maximum efficiency. It only works in the overworld.[6]
  • The Canopy Diminisher stops oaks within about 10 blocks from growing big, and turns the extra energy of those saplings into Aura. That makes it a natural fit for an automatic tree farm. It also only works in the overworld.[22]
  • The Swamp Homi strips moss from nearby mossy blocks and makes a bit of Aura for each block.[23]
  • The Shooting Mark turns projectiles into Aura, and stronger projectiles give more. You have to hit its four sides in order, starting with the north face. Hits on a non-active side give nothing.[24]
  • The Offshoot Observer turns the splitting of Slimes and Magma Cubes into Aura. Splits that happen while it is still dispersing Aura add nothing.[25]
  • The Ritual of the Brewer converts a positive Lingering Potion thrown nearby into Aura. Only one effect converts at a time, so extra potions are wasted.[26]

Storing and moving Aura

The Aura Cache lets you carry Aura with you. Place it on a Natural Altar and wait for the Aura to drain into it. The Aura Trove is the higher tier, with three times the storage.[27][28]

To move Aura across the world, use the Aura Attraction Cart. Put it on a rail and run it over a powered Activator Rail so it hooks onto the Aura around it. It drops the Aura again at an unpowered Activator Rail. Some of the excess is lost on the way, so expect a cost.[29]

Automation tools

The Automatic Constructor crafts anything you can make in a Crafting Table. You build a structure with the constructor in the center. The arrow marks the top of the recipe, as if pointing at the top row of a crafting grid. Drop the ingredients onto the Ancient Logs in the normal layout, and after a couple of seconds the result drops out of the bottom.[30]

The Redstone Aura Vaporizer is a timer built around Bottled Aura. A bottle of sunlight lasts a second, ghosts a minute and darkness an hour. The timer emits a short redstone pulse each time a vaporization finishes, and the Aura flows back into the bowl. The bottles and amounts you use set the interval, up to once every sixty-four hours. You can insert and extract bottles by hand or with automation, and a redstone signal resets the progress.[31]

  • The Adept Hopper works like a Hopper but is a bit faster. Attach Item Frames holding items to any side and only those items pass, both for pulling and for insertion. Interacting with it inverts the filter, and with no frames at all everything passes. With an Environmental Eye equipped you can see the stored item count and the mode.[32]
  • The Item Distributor takes items from containers on top and splits them equally across the containers on its sides. With an Environmental Eye equipped, sneak-interact to switch it to random mode.[33]
  • The Item Grounder makes dropped items only pickable by sneaking players. Its range runs from 0 to 8 blocks, set by the redstone signal strength.[34]
  • The Powder Manipulator places Effect Powder from an adjacent chest when it gets a redstone pulse. Another pulse collects the powder and returns it to a nearby chest.[35]
  • The Corporeal Eye keeps animals inside its area without any blocks around it. The stronger the redstone signal, the bigger the area.[36]

Imbalance and Effect Powder

Too much or too little Aura causes Aura Imbalance effects. Some positive ones kick in at fixed fractions of the Eye's gauge. Increase of Fertility begins beyond about two thirds, with Powder of Fertility nearby. Vegetational Increase shows up around three quarters. Natural Storage starts when the bar is about half above the regular amount, and it fills Aura Caches carried by nearby players.[37][38][39]

Effect Powder either inhibits a passive positive effect or enables effects that need it. Place a stack on the ground and the effect range in blocks equals the stack size. Hit the powder to pick it up again. Draining Aura is the dangerous direction: Natural Decay kills grass and leaves, and extremely low levels can lead to Unstable Outbreak, with sporadic explosions on the surface.[40][41][42]

Unverified The sources here include no config files for this mod in the pack, so exact Aura amounts, device output rates and storage capacities are not shown. Only the relative behavior described above is confirmed.

How do you progress through Nature's Aura?

6 parts

Nature's Aura has its own quest chapter in the pack, and it works as a guided ladder: gold, then rituals, then the Natural Altar, then the Offering Table, then the sky and depth metals.[7]

Start: gold and the first ritual

The chain begins with Brilliant Fiber (a quest in "?"). After that you need four Gold Leaf (a quest in "?"). The next quest, a quest in "?", asks for an oak or jungle sapling, eight Wooden Stand and 16 Gold Powder. Every other quest in the chapter hangs off this one.[7]

Once that quest is done, four branches open up. You can do them in any order:[7]

The pack changed the Token of Joy and Environmental Eye ritual recipes, so don't rely on the mod's defaults:[10]

The recipe dump also lists Productive Bees centrifuge recipes that output Infused Iron, Tainted Gold, Ingot of the Skies and Ingot of the Depths. The dump shows no item inputs for them, so the sources here do not show how the bee route works.[10]

Tokens, catalysts and early generators

From Token of Joy, a quest in "?" asks for Token of Fear, Token of Anger and Token of Sorrow. With the altar and those tokens done, a quest in "?" wants the Crumbling Catalyst and the Transmutation Catalyst.[7]

Aura generators come next. a quest in "?" asks for the Canopy Diminisher and the Herbivorous Absorber, and it comes after both the Aura Bottle quest and the Infused Iron quest. The Herbivorous Absorber needs different kinds of flowers to stay efficient. The Canopy Diminisher keeps nearby oaks at normal size. a quest in "?" then asks for the Aura Cache.[6][7][22]

Tip: Most Aura creation devices won't create Aura beyond the range of the Environmental Eye. An Aura Detector can switch them off by hand, and the Creational Catalyst lifts the limit later on. The pack changed the Aura Detector recipe.[10][43]

Side quests: finders, ender storage and tools

Off the Aura Bottle quest, a quest in "?" asks for the three structure finders: Eye of the Pillager, Eye of the Blaze and Eye of the Shulker. a quest in "?" asks for the Ender Crate and Ender Ocular.[7]

The basic tools chapter also takes Nature's Aura gear. The Botanist's Pickaxe (Botanist's Pickaxe) and Blade (Botanist's Blade) are each accepted as an alternative to a Roots Classic Living tool. Skyseeker's Pickaxe (Skyseeker's Pickaxe) is asked for directly, and Skyseeker's Blade (Skyseeker's Blade) is accepted as an alternative to a Magehunter from another mod. Soulstrider's Blade (Soulstrider's Blade) and Pickaxe (Soulstrider's Pickaxe) are asked for directly as well.[8]

How does Nature's Aura work with other mods?

4 parts

Nature's Aura doesn't live in its own bubble in this pack. The connections below come from the pack's recipes and quests, so they only cover items that actually appear there. The Nature's Aura quest chapter itself only asks for Nature's Aura items and a few vanilla ones.[7][10]

Productive Bees

Productive Bees has centrifuge recipes with Nature's Aura outputs. They give you Infused Iron Ingot, Ingot of the Skies or Tainted Gold Ingot, each together with Wax. These are regular mod recipes, not pack changes. The recipe dump lists no item inputs for them, so the inputs are not shown here.[10]

Productive Bees also adds two Nature's Aura offering recipes, named for the Ingot of the Depths bee and the Ingot of the Skies bee. Each one takes a Spirit of Calling and a configurable bee, and returns a configurable bee plus a Spawn Egg Configurable Bee. The dump doesn't show which bee type each recipe needs.[10]

Modular Machinery Reborn

The pack adds its own shaped recipe for the modular_machinery_reborn:time_counter, and it uses the Hand of Time from Nature's Aura. The rest of the recipe pulls from Productive Bees, Productive Trees, Productive Lib, Modular Machinery Reborn and KubeJS, so it's a real cross-mod crafting chain.[10]

Ancient wood in the sawmill

The pack adds woodcutting recipes that turn Ancient Log into wooden items from many other mods. Here are a few examples:[10]

Tip: If you're growing an Ancient Tree anyway, the logs have uses beyond Nature's Aura. Run them through the sawmill for these items.[10]

Quest alternatives

In the basic tools quest chapter, a few quests accept a Nature's Aura tool or another mod's tool. a quest in "?" takes Roots Classic's living sword or the Botanist's Blade. a quest in "?" takes Roots Classic's living pickaxe or the Botanist's Pickaxe. a quest in "?" takes the Skyseeker's Blade or Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks' Magehunter.[8]

The same chapter also has quests that only accept Nature's Aura tools: the Skyseeker's Pickaxe in a quest in "?", the Soulstrider's Blade in a quest in "?" and the Soulstrider's Pickaxe in a quest in "?".[8]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Nature's Aura?

7 parts

Nature's Aura has its own quest chapter in this pack, called natures_aura. A second chapter, basic_tools, also asks for a few of the mod's tools. Every quest here is untitled, so I'm pointing to each one by its quest reference. All the quests ask you to hold items, and they unlock in the order below.[7][8]

The natures_aura chapter: the opening chain

  1. a quest in "?" is the starting quest and asks for Brilliant Fiber.[7]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for 4 Gold Leaf.[7]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for an oak or jungle sapling, 8 Wooden Stand and 16 Gold Powder. This quest opens up most of the chapter.[7]

First branches

The basic_tools chapter

This chapter has six quests that all unlock after the same earlier quest. Two of them accept an alternative item from another mod, so you can pick whichever you prefer.[8]

What changed in Nature's Aura between versions?

The sources here only cover a small slice of Nature's Aura history in this pack, so this section is short on purpose.[2][44]

  • Nature's Aura was first included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier.[2]
  • In All the Mods 10 4.0, the mod was updated from 41.6 to 41.7.[44]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5 ships Nature's Aura 41.7 (the file NaturesAura-41.7.jar), so you are on the same version that 4.0 brought in.[2]

Unverified What actually changed between Nature's Aura 41.6 and 41.7 is unverified. The sources here do not include changelogs for the shipped jars, so they do not show whether that update touched recipes, items or mechanics.
