What is ModularBees?
1 part
ModularBees is a bee automation mod, and this pack includes version 1.21.1-1.4-neoforge of it. Instead of letting bees fly around in the world, you build a compact multiblock hive and upgrade it to pump out combs and honey.[1][2]
The heart of it is the Modular Beehive Core, the controller of a 3x3x3 cube. You can swap any Beehive Structure Box for a functional part, and the structure doesn't allow shared blocks, so each hive needs its own parts. Bees inside don't come out, they don't breed, and they don't do in-world transformation recipes. That saves performance, and in return they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[2]
The main parts
- Modular Alveary: the core hive can't hold bees, so the Alveary houses them. Each one holds 5 bees, and you load them with bee cages.[3]
- Modular Feeder: bees in the hive only look for flowers here. It holds 9 types of flowers, and for bees that need a fluid flower you can add a bucket or tank with that fluid.[4]
- Beehive Overclocker: makes bees produce faster. It needs energy and an Electrode, and there are four electrode tiers: Copper x1.2, Iron x1.5, Gold x2.8 and Netherite x5. Multiple overclockers stack additively.[5]
- Beehive Treater: feeds bees extra food so they produce more combs. Several treaters stack additively, and valid foods and their boosts are listed in JEI.[6]
- Beehive Export Hatch: a proxy of the core block for logistics. It automatically sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces.[7]
- Modular Dragon Hive: a special hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees.[8]
This mod is for you if you want to turn bees into a steady, automatable source of combs and honey without a sprawling apiary. The mod also has an in-game Book of Modular Bees that covers how to design your hive.[2][9]
Unverified Where ModularBees fits in the pack's progression could not be confirmed from the available sources, and no quests or ATM Star path details for it were found.
How do you get started with ModularBees?
6 parts
ModularBees lets you build a compact, upgradeable beehive multiblock that churns out combs and honey. The Modular Beehive is a 3x3x3 cube, and you can swap any Beehive Structure Box in it for a functional part. In this pack the key recipes are pack-specific, so follow the recipe blocks below rather than any recipe you remember from the mod's defaults.[2][10]
First: Scented Plank and Beehive Structure Box
Start with the Scented Plank. It is used in the recipes for both the Beehive Structure Box and the hive core.[10]

Next: The Modular Beehive core
The Modular Beehive is the controller of the multiblock. Bees inside it don't come out, and they don't breed or do in-world transformation recipes, which saves performance. Instead they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades. Keep in mind that Modular Beehives don't allow shared blocks, so give each hive its own structure.[2]

Then: Somewhere to put the bees
The core can't hold bees by itself, so you need a Modular Alveary. Each Alveary holds 5 bees, and you load them in with bee cages.[3]

After that: Feeder and Export Hatch
Bees in a Modular Beehive only look for flowers in the Modular Feeder, which holds 9 types of flowers. If a bee needs a fluid flower, put in a bucket or tank containing that fluid.[4]

Finally: Speed things up
Once the hive runs, add boosters. The Beehive Treater feeds your bees extra food for more combs. Multiple treaters add together. It only consumes food when bees finish collecting nectar, but every bee needs food, so the boost weakens if the supply can't feed them all. You can see the valid foods and their boosts in JEI.[6]

The Beehive Overclocker makes bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode, and a better electrode gives a bigger boost. Multiple overclockers add together.[5]

There are four electrode tiers: Copper Electrode at x1.2, Iron Electrode at x1.5, Gold Electrode at x2.8 and Netherite Electrode at x5. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes, and the Netherite Electrode is a smithing recipe that the pack changed.[5][10]

This is how you get the Dragon Breath Bucket.
How does ModularBees work?
7 parts
The Modular Beehive is the controller of the Modular Beehive multiblock, a 3x3x3 cube. You can replace any Beehive Structure Box in the cube with a functional part to improve the hive. Modular Beehives don't allow shared blocks, so each hive needs its own cube.[2]
The crafting recipes for the core and the structure box are added by the pack, so use the recipes below.[10]

How the hive works
The Modular Beehive has a built-in simulate upgrade, so bees won't come out of the hive. To save performance, bees inside it don't breed and don't do in-world transformation recipes. Instead, they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[2]
The core itself can't hold bees. You house them in a Modular Alveary, and each Alveary holds 5 bees. You put bees in with bee cages.[3]

Beehive Overclocker and electrodes
The Beehive Overclocker makes your bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode to work, and a better electrode gives a bigger speed boost. When you use several overclockers at once, their speed boosts are additive.[5]
- Copper Electrode: x1.2[5][10]
- Iron Electrode: x1.5[5][10]
- Gold Electrode: x2.8[5][10]
- Netherite Electrode: x5[5]
In this pack, the iron, gold and netherite electrodes are each crafted from the electrode one tier below. The pack added the copper, iron and gold recipes and changed the netherite one, which is a smithing recipe.[10]

Beehive Treater
The Beehive Treater gives your bees extra food, which makes them produce more combs. When you use several treaters at once, their production boosts are additive. You can check valid foods and their boosts in JEI.[6]
Unlike the overclocker, the treater only consumes food when bees finish collecting nectar. Every bee needs a food supply, and the boost is weakened if the food can't feed every bee. The remains are sent to the output inventory.[6]

Modular Dragon Hive
The Modular Dragon Hive is a special hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees. The Dragon Breath Bucket has its own crafting recipe, shown below.[8][10]
How do you progress through ModularBees?
4 parts
Unverified The quest sources here do not show any quests for this mod, so there is no quest-guided path. The progression below follows the in-pack crafting chain instead.
ModularBees builds a single multiblock hive that you upgrade step by step. In this pack most of the main recipes were added by the pack rather than taken from the mod's defaults, so the recipe blocks below show what you actually craft.[10]
The basic hive
Everything starts with the Scented Plank, which has a pack-added recipe. The plank feeds into the Beehive Structure Box, and that box is the building block for the whole structure.[10]

Functional parts
Once the cube works, you can replace any Beehive Structure Box with a functional part. Each of the parts below is crafted starting from a structure box.[2][10]
- Modular Feeder: bees in the hive only look for flowers here. It holds 9 types of flowers, and fluid flowers can be supplied with a bucket or tank of the right fluid. The pack added its recipe.[4][10]
- Beehive Export Hatch: a proxy of the core for logistics. It automatically sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces.[7][10]
- Beehive Treater: gives bees extra food so they produce more combs. Multiple treaters add together, and the boost weakens if the food can't feed every bee. Valid foods are listed in JEI.[6][10]
- Beehive Overclocker: makes bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode to work. The pack added its recipe.[5][10]

Electrodes
The Overclocker's speed depends on its electrode. There are four tiers, and a better electrode gives a higher speed boost. Boosts from multiple overclockers add together.[5]
- Copper Electrode: x1.2[5][10]
- Iron Electrode: x1.5[5][10]
- Gold Electrode: x2.8[5][10]
- Netherite Electrode: x5[5][10]
The pack chains the electrodes together: each tier is made from the one before it, starting at copper. The netherite electrode is a smithing recipe that the pack changed, and it builds on the gold electrode.[10]

Side branch: the Dragon Hive
The Modular Dragon Hive is a special hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees. Its recipe is the mod's own, not a pack change.[8][10]
If you need a Dragon Breath Bucket, it comes from a shapeless recipe.[10]
How does ModularBees work with other mods?
3 parts
ModularBees plugs into the rest of the pack mostly through crafting. The recipes that connect it to other mods pull in Productive Bees and Productive Lib items, plus a tagged unobtainium ingot. No quests are shown for this mod in the sources.[10]
Pack-added recipes
The pack adds its own recipes for the core, the feeder and the overclocker of the multiblock. Each one mixes ModularBees parts with items from other mods, so you can't build them from ModularBees alone.[10]
- The Modular Beehive is the controller of the multiblock. The pack adds its recipe, shown below, and it brings in Productive Lib items such as Upgrade Adult.[2][10]
- The Modular Feeder needs the Feeding Slab from Productive Bees. Bees in the Modular Beehive only look for flowers in this feeder.[4][10]
- The Beehive Overclocker uses the Upgrade Productivity 4 from Productive Lib. It makes your bees produce faster.[5][10]

Dragon hive
The Modular Dragon Hive connects to Productive Bees through the Dragon Egg Hive. This one is the mod's own recipe, which the pack hasn't changed. The hive is meant for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees.[8][10]
Guide book
The pack changed the recipe for the Guide Book, the Patchouli book for ModularBees. The Book and Scented Plank show up in that recipe, which is rendered below.[10]
Unverified No quests that involve ModularBees are available in the sources, so any quest-based links to other mods are unconfirmed.
What changed in ModularBees between versions?
ModularBees came into the pack in All the Mods 10 4.12, where it was added at version 1.21.1-1.0-neoforge.[11]
In All the Mods 10 4.13 it was updated from 1.21.1-1.0-neoforge to 1.21.1-1.4-neoforge.[12]
All the Mods 10 4.14 ships the same build as 4.13, ModularBees 1.21.1-1.4-neoforge, so there's no mod update in this release.[1]
- 4.12: ModularBees added (1.21.1-1.0-neoforge).[11]
- 4.13: updated to 1.21.1-1.4-neoforge.[12]
- 4.14: still on 1.21.1-1.4-neoforge.[1]
Unverified The changelogs for the shipped jars aren't available, so I can't say what actually changed between mod versions 1.0 and 1.4 (new content, recipe changes or fixes). If you rely on something from ModularBees, check it in-game rather than assuming it behaves the way it did in 4.12.
