What is Mekanism:More Machine?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Mekanism:More Machine is an add-on that adds more machines and factories to Mekanism. This pack includes version 1.4.1.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Recycler: destroys most useless items or blocks to produce scrap. The project page says dirt and stones were added by default, so you don't accidentally throw important things in. Scrap is the base item for making UU matter.[1]
  • Planting Station: consumes nutrient solution to produce crops. The project page says it is compatible with most things that can be grown in vanilla and fully compatible with Mystical Agriculture.[1]
  • Replicator: uses UU matter to replicate items. By default it has no recipe.[1]
  • Stamper, Lathe and Rolling Mill: general-purpose machines. According to the project page, only the Stamper currently links to Immersive Engineering, AE2 and their accessories.[1]
  • Advanced factories: factory versions of slow machines such as the chemical oxidizer, including an oxidizing factory and a dissolving factory. Their multiple threads can greatly improve production efficiency.[1]

Things to know before you build

The Replicator has no recipe by default, and the project page says you need to add the ones you want in the configuration file. For the Lathe and Rolling Mill, the project page says there are no suitable recipes yet, that some may be added in the future, and that you can add recipes yourself if you want to use them.[1]

The mod is not compatible with KubeJS or CraftTweaker. To add your own recipes you need the most primitive methods, such as KubeJS's custom recipe type. The mod's GitHub wiki documents the JSON format for each machine. The advanced factories also don't work with ComputerCraft yet, so you can't precisely control individual slots or tanks that way.[1]

Unverified The sources I was given don't show any quests involving this mod or a place for it on the ATM Star path. They also don't show whether the pack changes any of the mod's defaults, such as adding Replicator recipes, so check in game with JEI and the config folder. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Mekanism:More Machine?

3 parts

This mod adds more machines and factories to Mekanism. In this pack, the most useful early pieces are the factory versions of Mekanism's chemical machines and the CNC Stamper. If you've ever felt that machines like the Chemical Oxidizer are slow, the factories are the fix. They run multiple threads, which greatly improves your production.[1]

Step 1: Turn your busiest chemical machine into a factory

Every Basic factory is crafted from the regular Mekanism machine it replaces, so build that machine first. Then pick the one you run the most and upgrade it. The Basic Oxidizing Factory, Basic Oxidizing Factory, is a good example.[3]

Step 2: Build a CNC Stamper

The CNC Stamper is a machine that uses molds to process items. It's also the base for the stamping factory line. Once you have one, you can upgrade it into a Basic Stamping Factory, just like the chemical machines.[3][4]

Unverified The mod's project page says the Stamper has recipes that link it with Immersive Engineering and AE2. The sources for this section don't show which stamping recipes this pack actually includes, so check JEI in-game before you build around it. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Step 3: Climb the factory tiers

Each factory upgrades through four tiers: Basic, then Advanced, then Elite, then Ultimate. You upgrade the factory you already own, so nothing is wasted along the way. Each step asks for better circuits and alloys, so upgrade the factory that's slowing you down most first.[3]

Watch out: Hold off on the CNC Lathe for now. The mod's author says the Lathe doesn't have suitable recipes yet, so it isn't a useful early build, even though this pack includes a recipe for it.[1][3]
Watch out: Don't plan your early game around the Planting Station, Recycler or Replicator. None of the recipes in this pack produce them.[3][4]
Tip: The factories are not yet compatible with ComputerCraft. If you want precise control over each slot or tank, you'll need to handle it with regular Mekanism piping and logistics instead.[1]

How does Mekanism:More Machine work?

6 parts

Mekanism:More Machine adds new machines and factories to Mekanism. Its content falls into two groups: factory versions of existing Mekanism machines, and new standalone machines such as the Planting Station, Replicator, Recycler and the CNC machines. This section covers how each of them works, as far as the mod's own descriptions and the pack's recipes explain it.[1][4]

Factories

If a machine like the Chemical Oxidizer has ever felt slow, this is the fix. The mod gives several Mekanism machines factory versions. The mod author says the advanced factories run multiple threads, which can greatly improve production efficiency.[1]

In this pack, each Basic factory is crafted from the single machine it replaces. Here is the full mapping:[3]

Factories come in tiers, and you build each tier from the one below it. For example, the path runs from Basic Centrifuging Factory to Advanced Centrifuging Factory to Elite Centrifuging Factory. The Chemical Infusing line also has an Ultimate tier.[3][4]

Watch out: The mod author says these factories are not yet compatible with ComputerCraft. That makes it hard to control individual slots or tanks precisely from a computer.[1]

CNC Stamper, Lathe and Rolling Mill

These are general-purpose processing machines. The CNC Stamper uses molds to process items. The CNC Lathe has many functions for processing materials. The CNC Rolling Mill uses mechanical force to bend metal.[1][4]

The mod page says only the Stamper currently has recipes linked to Immersive Engineering, AE2 and their add-ons, and that the other machines don't have suitable recipes yet. The Stamper is also what you build the Stamping Factory line from.[1][3]

Planting Station and nutrient solution

The Planting Station is an advanced crop-growing machine. It consumes nutrient solution to produce crops. It works with most things you can grow in vanilla and is fully compatible with Mystical Agriculture.[1][4]

You make nutrient solution with a dissolution recipe, so you'll want a dissolution setup running before you rely on the Planting Station.[3]

Recycler, scrap and UU matter

The Recycler destroys items you don't need, but only if there is a recipe for them, and turns them into scrap. By default, the mod only includes dirt and stone. The author kept that list small so you don't accidentally throw away something important.[1][4]

Scrap is the basic item for making UU matter, and you can check the related recipes in JEI. UU matter in turn feeds the Replicator, a machine that copies items.[1][4]

Tip: By default, the Replicator has no recipes. The mod expects them to be added through its configuration file.[1]

Unverified No config files for this mod were available for this pack. It is unverified whether the pack changed the Recycler's default list or added any Replicator recipes. Check JEI in-game to see what your Recycler accepts and what your Replicator can copy. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Other machines

The mod also adds an Ambient Gas Collector, which extracts mysterious substances from the atmosphere, and a Large Chemical Washer. Some blocks show a tooltip telling you whether the space above the machine is blocked.[4]

Unverified It is unverified which machine that 'blocked above' tooltip belongs to, or what the collector needs above it to run. It is also unverified how the Large Chemical Washer is built or whether it is a multiblock.

Custom recipes

If you want to add recipes to these machines yourself, note that the mod is not compatible with KubeJS or CraftTweaker. You have to use raw recipe JSON, for example through KubeJS's custom recipe support. The format for each machine is documented on the mod's GitHub wiki.[1]

Unverified The available sources don't explain energy use, upgrade support, or item and chemical port configuration for these machines, so those details are unverified here.

How do you progress through Mekanism:More Machine?

4 parts

This mod adds factory versions of Mekanism machines in four tiers: Basic, Advanced, Elite and Ultimate. Each tier comes in eight machine types: centrifuging, chemical infusing, crystallizing, dissolving, oxidizing, pressurised reacting, stamping and washing. In this pack, every recipe for the mod's items is the mod's own recipe, not a pack-changed one, so the tiers work as the mod intends.[3]

Starting out: the CNC machines

The mod adds two standalone machines, the CNC Stamper and the CNC Lathe. The CNC Stamper is the one that matters for progression, because the Basic Stamping Factory is crafted from it. It is the starting point of the whole stamping factory line.[3]

Tier 1: Basic factories

Each Basic factory is built around the matching single-block Mekanism machine. For example, the Basic Washing Factory is an upgrade of Mekanism's washer. The stamping line is the one exception, because it starts from this mod's own CNC Stamper. Check the recipe viewer for the exact in-pack recipe of each type.[3]

Upgrading through the tiers

From here the path is simple. Every higher-tier factory is crafted from the same type of factory one tier below it. You never build an Advanced, Elite or Ultimate factory from scratch; you feed your existing factory into the next recipe.[3]

  1. Craft the Basic factory for the machine type you want.[3]
  2. Upgrade it into the Advanced version of that factory, for example the Advanced Washing Factory.[3]
  3. Upgrade the Advanced factory into the Elite version, such as the Elite Washing Factory.[3]
  4. Upgrade the Elite factory into the Ultimate version, such as the Ultimate Washing Factory.[3]
Tip: Each upgrade uses up the factory from the previous tier, so upgrade the one you already have instead of building a second Basic factory just to upgrade it.[3]

Example line: washing factories

The washing line shows the full chain from start to finish. The other seven factory types follow exactly the same Basic, Advanced, Elite, Ultimate pattern.[3]

How does Mekanism:More Machine work with other mods?

2 parts

More Machine is an add-on for Mekanism, so most of its connections run through Mekanism itself. In this pack, the biggest link to another mod is Mystical Agriculture: the Planting Station can grow Mystical Agriculture crops.[1][3]

Mystical Agriculture in the Planting Station

The Planting Station uses nutrient solution to grow crops, and the mod author describes it as fully compatible with Mystical Agriculture. This pack has a dedicated planting recipe for each of a long list of Mystical Agriculture seeds.[1][3]

Each recipe works the same way. You put in the seeds plus nutrient solution, and you get that crop's essence along with the seeds. For example, Inferium Seeds produce Inferium Essence, and Iron Seeds produce Iron Essence.[3]

Planting (mekmm)

Recipe id: mekmm:compat/mysticalagriculture/inferium

Every Mystical Agriculture planting recipe follows this pattern.

The coverage is broad. It includes the elemental crops like Air Seeds and Fire Seeds, mob crops like Blaze Seeds and Enderman Seeds, and resource crops like Diamond Seeds, Osmium Seeds and Netherite Seeds.[3]

It also covers seeds for materials from other mods, such as Certus Quartz Seeds, Fluix Seeds, Enderium Seeds, Manasteel Seeds and Knightmetal Seeds. If you have one of these seeds, check the Planting Station to see whether it has a recipe.[3]

Tip: Because each planting recipe gives the seeds back along with the essence, you only need one set of seeds per crop to keep a Planting Station running, as long as it has nutrient solution.[1][3]

CNC machines and Mekanism parts

The CNC Lathe and CNC Stamper are crafted from Mekanism components such as Steel Casing. The Lathe also needs a Robit, and the Stamper uses vanilla pistons. Get your basic Mekanism production going before you build them.[3]

Unverified The mod's project page says the Stamper has recipes that link to Immersive Engineering and Applied Energistics 2 and their add-ons. The recipe data for this pack does not show any such stamping recipes, so it's unconfirmed whether they are available here.

What changed in Mekanism:More Machine between versions?

Good news if you like stability: Mekanism:More Machine has stayed on one version in this pack. It was added to All the Mods 10 in release 4.3 as version 1.21.1-1.0.2.[5]

All the Mods 10 4.4 still ships that same version, 1.21.1-1.0.2, so nothing about the mod itself changed between 4.3 and 4.4. Anything you learned or built with it in 4.3 should carry straight over.[5][6]

Unverified There are no stored changelogs for the mod's own jar, so the specific features, fixes or balance changes inside version 1.21.1-1.0.2 can't be confirmed here.
