What is IntegratedDynamics?

1 part

IntegratedDynamics is part of All the Mods 10 4.5, which ships version 1.27.8 of the mod. It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[1]

Unverified A full description of what IntegratedDynamics does and which players it suits isn't covered by the pack files available here. Item names like the Logic Cable and Logic Programmer suggest a logic and automation focus, but treat that as a hint rather than a confirmed summary.

Where it fits in the pack

The mod has its own quest chapter, and it starts right at the basics. You kick things off by getting a Squeezer and some Menril Berries.[2]

  1. After the Squeezer, the chapter asks for a Drying Basin, then a Crystallized Menril Chunk.[2]
  2. The Crystallized Menril Chunk unlocks three branches: the Wrench, the Logic Cable and the Energy Battery.[2]
  3. The Energy Battery branch leads to the Generator, the Mechanical Squeezer and the Mechanical Drying Basin.[2]
  4. The Logic Cable branch leads to the Variable Card, and from there to the Input Variable Transformer and Output Variable Transformer.[2]
  5. A separate thread in the chapter covers the Logic Programmer, which unlocks the Portable Logic Programmer and the Variable Store.[2]

The mod also appears in other chapters. In the Basic Logistics chapter, a quest in "?" asks for a Wrench, and that quest leads on to a Variable Card and Logic Cable.[3]

The Basic Power chapter includes the Energy Battery as a quest item in a quest in "?".[4]

The pack's ATM Star quest chapter contains a quest in "?", which asks for a Creative Energy Battery.[5]

Unverified It's not confirmed whether the Creative Energy Battery quest is a required step toward crafting the ATM Star or just an optional quest in that chapter.

How do you get started with IntegratedDynamics?

4 parts

Everything in Integrated Dynamics starts with Menril. Your first job is to chop down a Menril tree. The easiest place to find one is a Meneglin biome, so keep an eye out for it while you explore.[6]

The core loop of the mod is to process Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry that resin to get Crystallized Menril. Almost every later step depends on this, so get it running early.[6]

Step 1: Squeezer and Drying Basin

The Integrated Dynamics quest chapter starts you on the Squeezer with a quest in "?". Once that's done, it unlocks the Drying Basin in a quest in "?".[2]

Step 2: Crystallized Menril Chunks

Next up is the Crystallized Menril Chunk, which unlocks after the Drying Basin in a quest in "?". You'll need lots of these, because they show up in most of the mod's recipes. Chunks and the Block of Crystallized Menril convert back and forth, so you can store them compactly.[2][7]

How does IntegratedDynamics work?

7 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Integrated Dynamics runs on logic networks. You connect parts with Logic Cable, read values from blocks, entities and the world, turn those values into variables, and then display them or act on them. There are no big processing multiblocks here. The depth comes from what your network can read, calculate and write.[8]

Menril: the resource behind everything

Your first job is finding a Menril tree, which is easiest in Meneglin biomes. You process Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry the resin to get Crystallized Menril. Drying happens in the Drying Basin, so craft one early.[8]

Once you have Crystallized Menril Chunk, you can make Logic Cables. Chunks and blocks convert back and forth, so you can store Menril compactly and break it down when you need it.[9]

Readers: getting information into the network

Readers are parts that face a target and expose aspects, which are individual values about that target. The mod rewards you for building a logic network with at least 10 connected Logic Cables, so plan on cables linking several readers and writers together.[8]

  • The Inventory Reader can tell you if the target has an inventory, if all slots are empty or full, and the fill ratio: non-empty slots divided by total slots.[8]
  • Fluid aspects cover whether the target has a tank, whether it is empty or full, the fluid inside, and the fill ratio of the active tank.[8]
  • Energy aspects work with FE. They show whether the target handles FE at all, whether FE can really be inserted or extracted (taking storage and capacity into account), whether the buffer is empty or full, and the stored FE divided by capacity.[8]
  • The Machine Reader shows whether the target is a worker machine, whether it has work, whether it could start working, and whether it is currently working. It can also read the list of recipes from a machine like the Crafting Table.[8]
  • The Block Reader can check for a block and read NBT data from machines like the Lectern.[8]
  • The Redstone Reader reads redstone levels (high, low or any signal) and offers a clock aspect that pulses with a configurable length and interval.[8]
  • World aspects include day or night, weather, ticks per second, and whether the target space holds a player, mob, animal, item or entity. There are also temperature aspects, reported in Kelvin.[8]

Writers: acting on what you read

Writers push values back into the world. A Redstone Writer can output a redstone level read by a Redstone Reader. It also has options to simulate a Redstone Torch instead of regular Redstone Dust, and to emit pulses with a set value and a duration in ticks.[8]

Here is a good example of what you can build. Pair an Entity Reader with a Redstone Writer pointing straight at a door, match the entity name with the equals operator, and the door opens automatically when the right player walks past.[8]

Variables, logic and display

Values travel around the network as Variable Card items. You can make a card from a reader aspect, such as a redstone Integer, or define constants in the Logic Programmer. The Logic Programmer also builds operators, static lists, list filters and even recipes. Put a card in a Display Panel to see its value.[8]

A few blocks help you manage variables. You can hold cards in a Variable Store, create proxy variables in a Proxy, and materialize a variable in a Materializer. The Input and Output Variable Transformers and the Delayer are also part of this toolkit.[8][9]

Unverified The exact behaviour of the Delayer, the Variable Transformers and Part Enhancement: Offset is not described in the available sources.

Energy in All the Mods 10

Every part has a base energy usage in the config, but this pack sets the network energy usage multiplier, general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier, to 0. The maximum network energy transfer rate, core.general.energyRateLimit, is set to 2,147,483,647.[10]

  • The omni-directional connector has a base usage of 128, and the mono-directional connector has 32.[10]
  • The Variable Store has a base usage of 4, and the Proxy has 2.[10]
  • A Display Panel uses 2 with a variable inserted and 1 without one.[10]
  • Most readers and writers, plus the Materializer, have a base usage of 1. The static and dynamic light panels use 0.[10]

Unverified The sources do not confirm whether a multiplier of 0 means your networks need no power at all in this pack. Test a small network before building a power setup for it.

If you do want power, the Energy Battery stores energy, and it is also an ingredient for the Generator.[9]

How often item and fluid networks are checked

The ingredient network observer controls how often networks are checked for changes. In this pack it runs between every 5 ticks at its fastest and every 40 ticks at its slowest. Multithreading is enabled, with 4 threads.[10]

Limits and troubleshooting

Operators can only recurse 256 levels deep, which stops things like the omega operator from crashing your game. Corrupted networks are set to be restored automatically on the first tick.[10]

Watch out: If a network keeps crashing your world, temporarily enable core.general.safeMode, which is off in this pack. It stops networks from ticking and stops values from being evaluated, so you can fix the problem, then turn it back off.[10]

How do you progress through IntegratedDynamics?

5 parts

Integrated Dynamics has its own quest chapter in this pack, and it follows a clear path. You start by processing Menril by hand, then you craft Crystallized Menril Chunks. From there the path splits into a power branch and a logic branch. The next few sub-sections follow that chapter tier by tier and show the in-pack recipe for each key block.[2]

Tier 1: Manual processing

The chapter opens with two quests: one for the Squeezer and one for Menril Berries. The Squeezer quest leads to the Drying Basin, and that leads to the most important quest in the chapter, the Crystallized Menril Chunk.[2]

  1. Grab a Squeezer for a quest in "?". The Menril Berries quest, a quest in "?", sits right beside it.[2]
  2. Craft a Drying Basin for a quest in "?".[2]
  3. Get your first Crystallized Menril Chunk for a quest in "?". Almost every quest after this one depends on it.[2]

Quests in other chapters

Integrated Dynamics also appears in the pack's general chapters. The basic logistics chapter starts with a Wrench quest, a quest in "?", and that leads to quests for the Variable Card and Logic Cable.[3]

The basic power chapter has its own Energy Battery quest, a quest in "?".[4]

The creative tier

At the very top sits the Creative Energy Battery. This pack adds its own energizing recipe for it, which uses ATM Star together with a regular Energy Battery. There's also a quest for it, a quest in "?", in the chapter built around the ATM Star.[5][7]

How does IntegratedDynamics work with other mods?

4 parts

Integrated Dynamics doesn't sit on its own in this pack. It ties into other mods in three ways: a few recipes the pack adds for other mods' machines, a large set of Bibliocraft furniture made in Menril wood, and quests in other chapters that ask for Integrated Dynamics items.[3][4][5][7]

Creative Energy Battery through Powah

The pack adds its own Powah energizing recipe for the Creative Energy Battery, so you make it in Powah's energizing setup rather than a crafting grid. The ATM Star questline tracks it too: a quest in "?" asks you to obtain one.[5][7]

Sawing Menril logs

If you're running a wood setup, the pack lets you process Menril logs into Menril Planks in machines from two other mods. Mekanism's sawing recipe also gives you Sawdust alongside the planks. Productive Trees has a sawmill recipe of its own.[7]

Quests outside the Integrated Dynamics chapter

Integrated Dynamics items also show up in the pack's general progression chapters. That means you'll likely pick up a few pieces before you ever open the mod's own chapter.[3][4][5]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use IntegratedDynamics?

4 parts

Integrated Dynamics shows up in a few places in this pack's quest book. Most of it lives in its own dedicated chapter, which walks you from your first Menril Berries all the way to logic programming. The mod's items also appear in a couple of general chapters, plus one more quest elsewhere in the book. Every quest listed here simply asks you to obtain the item it names.[2][3][4][5]

The Integrated Dynamics chapter

The chapter opens with two quests that sit side by side. a quest in "?" asks for Menril Berries, and a quest in "?" asks for a Squeezer. Both unlock from the same prerequisite quest, which isn't one of the chapter quests covered here.[2]

From the Squeezer, the main line runs in a straight chain. You work through these steps to reach the Crystallized Menril Chunk, which is the hub of the rest of the chapter:[2]

  1. a quest in "?": get a Drying Basin. This unlocks after the Squeezer quest.[2]
  2. a quest in "?": get a Crystallized Menril Chunk. This unlocks after the Drying Basin quest.[2]

Once you have the chunk, the chapter branches three ways. a quest in "?" asks for a Wrench, a quest in "?" asks for Logic Cable, and a quest in "?" asks for an Energy Battery.[2]

The power and machine branch

The Energy Battery quest opens up the powered side of the mod. a quest in "?" asks for a Generator and only needs the battery quest. The two machine upgrades need both the battery and their basic version. a quest in "?" asks for a Mechanical Squeezer and needs both the battery and Squeezer quests. a quest in "?" asks for a Mechanical Drying Basin and needs both the battery and Drying Basin quests.[2]

The logic branch

The Logic Cable quest leads into variables. a quest in "?" asks for a Variable Card. From there you get two parallel quests: a quest in "?" for an Input Variable Transformer and a quest in "?" for an Output Variable Transformer.[2]

a quest in "?" asks for a Logic Programmer. Its prerequisite is a quest that isn't among the ones covered here. Completing it unlocks two final quests: a quest in "?" for a Portable Logic Programmer and a quest in "?" for a Variable Store.[2]

Other chapters

The Basic Logistics chapter has a short Integrated Dynamics branch. It starts with a quest in "?", which asks for a Wrench. That quest unlocks a quest in "?" for a Variable Card and a quest in "?" for Logic Cable.[3]

The Basic Power chapter includes a quest in "?", which asks for an Energy Battery. Its prerequisite is a quest outside the ones covered here.[4]

One more quest elsewhere in the quest book, a quest in "?", asks for a Creative Energy Battery. It also unlocks from a quest outside the ones covered here.[5]

Which IntegratedDynamics config options matter?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Integrated Dynamics has a big common config, but only a handful of options change how the mod plays for you. Everything below is the value All the Mods 10 8.1 ships in general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier's file. Each part also has its own base energy cost listed there if you want to dig deeper.[10]

Power and energy

The big one is general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier, the energy usage multiplier for networks. In this pack it is set to 0. That multiplier is applied to the per-part base costs, such as 1 for most readers and writers, 4 for the variable store and 128 for the omni-directional connector.[10]

Unverified With the multiplier at 0, your networks likely don't need any power at all. The sources also don't show whether this value differs from the mod's own default.

If you still use batteries, machine.energy_battery.capacity is 1,000,000. machine.energy_battery.energyRateCapacityFraction is 2000, so a battery can move 1/2000 of its capacity per tick. machine.energy_battery.minEnergyRate also guarantees at least 2000 per tick.[10]

The Mechanical Squeezer and Mechanical Drying Basin each hold 100,000 energy and use 80 at a time. The squeezer can auto-eject 500 mB per tick.[10]

Reach and timing of parts

When a network breaks

core.general.recreateCorruptedNetworks is on, so corrupted networks are restored automatically on the first tick. core.general.safeMode is off. If a network keeps crashing your game, you can temporarily turn safe mode on to stop networks from ticking and evaluating values while you fix it.[10]

Tip: Getting FPS drops around big cable setups? The config itself suggests disabling machine.cable.dynamicShape, which is on in this pack. You can also lower general.general.partOverlayRenderdistance, which is set to 15.[10]

Early game and world

What changed in IntegratedDynamics between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships Integrated Dynamics 1.27.8. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, and it has been bumped many times since. The pack changelogs only record which version each release moved to, so this section is a version timeline.[1]

Version bumps by pack release

  • 4.5: 1.27.6 to 1.27.8[11]
  • 4.3: 1.27.5 to 1.27.6[12]
  • 4.1: 1.27.4 to 1.27.5[13]
  • 4.0: 1.27.2 to 1.27.4[14]
  • 3.2: 1.26.0 to 1.27.2[15]
  • 2.47: 1.25.11 to 1.26.0[16]
  • 2.43: 1.25.10 to 1.25.11[17]
  • 2.42: 1.25.9 to 1.25.10[18]
  • 2.40: 1.25.7 to 1.25.9[19]
  • 2.39: 1.25.6 to 1.25.7[20]
  • 2.37: 1.25.5 to 1.25.6[21]
  • 2.36: 1.25.3 to 1.25.5[22]
  • 2.33: 1.25.2 to 1.25.3[23]

The biggest jumps in this list are 1.26.0 to 1.27.2 in pack 3.2 and 1.25.11 to 1.26.0 in pack 2.47. These are the releases that crossed a minor version.[15][16]

Unverified The mod's own changelogs for these versions are not available, so what changed in each Integrated Dynamics release (features, fixes, recipe or balance changes) is unverified. Check the mod's release notes before assuming any behavior differs between versions.
