What is IntegratedDynamics?

1 part

This pack ships IntegratedDynamics 1.23.6, and it has been part of the pack since version 0.45 or earlier, so you can count on it being there from a fresh world.[1]

In this pack the mod is introduced through the Basic Logistics quest chapter, which is where you'll find its early goals alongside the pack's other item-movement tech. The chapter starts you with Wrench in a quest in "?", and that single quest unlocks the two that follow.[2]

Your first three quests

  1. a quest in "?" asks you for Wrench, the gateway to the rest of the chapter's IntegratedDynamics line.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" unlocks after the wrench and asks for Logic Cable.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" also unlocks after the wrench and asks for Variable Card.[2]
Tip: Both follow-up quests branch straight off the wrench quest, so you can chase the cable and the variable card in whichever order suits your base.[2]

Unverified Beyond these quest entries, the pack data available here doesn't describe the mod's mechanics, its recipes or any pack-specific config changes, and nothing shown ties IntegratedDynamics to the ATM Star quest line.

How do you get started with IntegratedDynamics?

4 parts

Everything in this mod grows on a tree. Before you can make a single cable you need Menril, so your first job is to go chop down a Menril tree, which is easiest to find in Meneglin biomes.[3]

Step 1: Menril and crystallized menril

  1. Chop down a Menril tree and bring the logs home; Meneglin biomes are the easiest place to find them.[3]
  2. Process a Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry the resin to obtain crystallized menril.[3]
  3. Keep the logs you don't process, since they turn into Menril Planks and all the usual wooden blocks.[4]

Drying is done in the Drying Basin, one of the first machines you'll want on your floor.[3][4]

Unverified The exact way Menril Logs are turned into Menril Resin (which machine squeezes them) isn't covered by the sources used for this page, so check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Crystallized Menril Chunk is the backbone of the whole mod. It goes into the Wrench, Logic Cable, Variable Card, Labeller, Facade and Materializer, and you can compress it into Block of Crystallized Menril and pull it back apart again for storage.[4]

Step 2: the three quest items

The pack's logistics quest chapter walks you through this in order. a quest in "?" asks for the wrench first, and completing it unlocks two follow-ups: a quest in "?" for Logic Cable and a quest in "?" for Variable Card.[2]

Make the wrench first. It's the tool you'll use constantly once you start placing and removing parts on your network.[2][4]

Logic Cable is the network itself; every part you add later plugs into it.[2][4]

Variable Cards hold the values and logic your network reads and writes. Make a stack of them, because you'll burn through them fast.[2][4]

Step 3: the Logic Programmer

The Logic Programmer is where you actually write variable cards, so it's the next block to build after the quest items.[3][4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: integrateddynamics:crafting/logic_programmer

Tip: You can convert the Logic Programmer into a Portable Logic Programmer and back again, so carry the portable version out to your builds and convert it back when you want the block.[4]

Where to go next

Tip: There's an advancement for building a logic network with at least 10 connected Logic Cables, which is a good sign you're past the starter phase.[3]

How does IntegratedDynamics work?

7 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Integrated Dynamics runs on logic networks. You connect parts with Logic Cable, read values from blocks, entities and the world, turn those values into variables, and then display them or act on them. There are no big processing multiblocks here. The depth comes from what your network can read, calculate and write.[5]

Menril: the resource behind everything

Your first job is finding a Menril tree, which is easiest in Meneglin biomes. You process Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry the resin to get Crystallized Menril. Drying happens in the Drying Basin, so craft one early.[5]

Once you have Crystallized Menril Chunk, you can make Logic Cables. Chunks and blocks convert back and forth, so you can store Menril compactly and break it down when you need it.[6]

Readers: getting information into the network

Readers are parts that face a target and expose aspects, which are individual values about that target. The mod rewards you for building a logic network with at least 10 connected Logic Cables, so plan on cables linking several readers and writers together.[5]

  • The Inventory Reader can tell you if the target has an inventory, if all slots are empty or full, and the fill ratio: non-empty slots divided by total slots.[5]
  • Fluid aspects cover whether the target has a tank, whether it is empty or full, the fluid inside, and the fill ratio of the active tank.[5]
  • Energy aspects work with FE. They show whether the target handles FE at all, whether FE can really be inserted or extracted (taking storage and capacity into account), whether the buffer is empty or full, and the stored FE divided by capacity.[5]
  • The Machine Reader shows whether the target is a worker machine, whether it has work, whether it could start working, and whether it is currently working. It can also read the list of recipes from a machine like the Crafting Table.[5]
  • The Block Reader can check for a block and read NBT data from machines like the Lectern.[5]
  • The Redstone Reader reads redstone levels (high, low or any signal) and offers a clock aspect that pulses with a configurable length and interval.[5]
  • World aspects include day or night, weather, ticks per second, and whether the target space holds a player, mob, animal, item or entity. There are also temperature aspects, reported in Kelvin.[5]

Writers: acting on what you read

Writers push values back into the world. A Redstone Writer can output a redstone level read by a Redstone Reader. It also has options to simulate a Redstone Torch instead of regular Redstone Dust, and to emit pulses with a set value and a duration in ticks.[5]

Here is a good example of what you can build. Pair an Entity Reader with a Redstone Writer pointing straight at a door, match the entity name with the equals operator, and the door opens automatically when the right player walks past.[5]

Variables, logic and display

Values travel around the network as Variable Card items. You can make a card from a reader aspect, such as a redstone Integer, or define constants in the Logic Programmer. The Logic Programmer also builds operators, static lists, list filters and even recipes. Put a card in a Display Panel to see its value.[5]

A few blocks help you manage variables. You can hold cards in a Variable Store, create proxy variables in a Proxy, and materialize a variable in a Materializer. The Input and Output Variable Transformers and the Delayer are also part of this toolkit.[5][6]

Unverified The exact behaviour of the Delayer, the Variable Transformers and Part Enhancement: Offset is not described in the available sources.

Energy in All the Mods 10

Every part has a base energy usage in the config, but this pack sets the network energy usage multiplier, general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier, to 0. The maximum network energy transfer rate, core.general.energyRateLimit, is set to 2,147,483,647.[7]

  • The omni-directional connector has a base usage of 128, and the mono-directional connector has 32.[7]
  • The Variable Store has a base usage of 4, and the Proxy has 2.[7]
  • A Display Panel uses 2 with a variable inserted and 1 without one.[7]
  • Most readers and writers, plus the Materializer, have a base usage of 1. The static and dynamic light panels use 0.[7]

Unverified The sources do not confirm whether a multiplier of 0 means your networks need no power at all in this pack. Test a small network before building a power setup for it.

If you do want power, the Energy Battery stores energy, and it is also an ingredient for the Generator.[6]

How often item and fluid networks are checked

The ingredient network observer controls how often networks are checked for changes. In this pack it runs between every 5 ticks at its fastest and every 40 ticks at its slowest. Multithreading is enabled, with 4 threads.[7]

Limits and troubleshooting

Operators can only recurse 256 levels deep, which stops things like the omega operator from crashing your game. Corrupted networks are set to be restored automatically on the first tick.[7]

Watch out: If a network keeps crashing your world, temporarily enable core.general.safeMode, which is off in this pack. It stops networks from ticking and stops values from being evaluated, so you can fix the problem, then turn it back off.[7]

How do you progress through IntegratedDynamics?

5 parts

Progression in this mod is a material chain more than a machine chain: almost every recipe in the pack's dump runs through Crystallized Menril Chunks, and the tiers are basically "how refined is your menril" plus, at the very top, chorus crystal. Here's how it stacks up in this pack.[4]

Tier 0: Menril wood and crystal

Everything begins at a menril tree. Menril logs turn into planks, which cover the usual wood set: stairs, slabs, doors, fences and fence gates. Logs and stripped logs also convert into their wood block versions, and Menril Berries make Menril Torches and Menril Stone Torches.[4]

The crystal side is what actually matters for logic. Crystallized Menril Chunk and Block of Crystallized Menril convert back and forth freely, and the block also feeds the decorative brick, slab and stairs line if you want to build with it.[4]

The Drying Basin is your earliest processing block and is cheap enough to make before you have any crystal at all.[4]

Unverified These sources don't include the recipes that produce Crystallized Menril Chunks or the Squeezer itself, so check the in-game recipe viewer for exactly how the pack has you refine menril. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Tier 1: The quest starters

The pack's basic logistics chapter gates the mod behind three short quests. a quest in "?" asks for a Wrench and is the root. Both a quest in "?" (a Variable Card) and a quest in "?" (a Logic Cable) unlock from it, so once the wrench is done you can chase either branch in whatever order you like.[2]

Quest 1: the root of the chapter.

Quest 3: your network backbone.

Tip: There's a second, rotated cable recipe registered in this pack, so the cable crafts either way round in the grid.[4]

Tier 2: Programming and parts

Next up is the Logic Programmer, the bench where you fill in those blank variable cards. It's a cheap step once you have a Block of Crystallized Menril, and you can swap it back and forth with the Portable Logic Programmer with a single shapeless craft in either direction.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: integrateddynamics:crafting/logic_programmer

Parts are the real tier-2 content, and they all key off two components: the Input Variable Transformer for readers and the Output Variable Transformer for writers. Once you can make those, the whole part catalogue opens at roughly the same cost: redstone, inventory, fluid, block, entity, machine, audio and network readers and writers, plus light and display panels.[4]

The supporting gadgets sit at this tier too: Materializer, Labeller, Facade, Delayer and the On the Dynamics of Integration manual are all menril-chunk crafts built on things you already have.[4]

Tier 3: Energy and mechanical machines

The power tier starts with the Energy Battery, which then becomes both your generator and the upgrade path for your machines.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

A shapeless craft once you have the battery.

With batteries in hand you can upgrade the hand-crank machines into the Mechanical Squeezer and Mechanical Drying Basin. Both consume your existing basic machine, so don't throw the old one away.[4]

Tier 4: Chorus crystal

The top tier swaps menril for Crystallized Chorus Chunk, which has its own block, brick, slab and stairs line as well. Two endgame items need it: the Logic Director and, alongside diamonds and both variable transformers, the Part Enhancement: Offset.[4]

How does IntegratedDynamics work with other mods?

4 parts

Integrated Dynamics is the base of a whole family of add-ons in this pack, and it also hooks into a few unrelated mods. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes. The pack's quests that use Integrated Dynamics items only cover the mod's own basics, so I can't point you to a quest that links it to another mod.[2][4]

Integrated Tunnels

The item, fluid and energy parts from Integrated Tunnels are all built on Integrated Dynamics items. That covers the interface, importer and exporter parts, and their world versions that work on blocks in the world. The Logic Director, the variable transformers and Crystallized Menril Chunk are the key links. Here is the starting point, the item interface, and the world item exporter.[4]

Integrated Terminals, Crafting and Scripting

The other add-ons follow the same pattern. Their parts use Integrated Dynamics items such as the Input Variable Transformer, the Output Variable Transformer and the display panel. The storage terminal and its portable version are good examples.[4]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use IntegratedDynamics?

1 part

In this pack, Integrated Dynamics shows up in one quest chapter: basic_logistics. It's a small set of three quests, and each one just asks you to obtain a single item from the mod. The quests have no titles in the quest book, so you'll recognise them by their tasks.[2]

Quest order

  1. a quest in "?" is the starting point. Its task is to get the Wrench. It has no prerequisite in the sources, so you can do it right away.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" unlocks after the Wrench quest. Its task is to get the Logic Cable.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" also unlocks after the Wrench quest. Its task is to get the Variable Card.[2]

The Cable and Variable Card quests both branch off the Wrench quest, so neither depends on the other. You can do them in whichever order you like once the Wrench is done.[2]

Unverified The sources don't show quest rewards or descriptions for these quests, so what you get for completing them is unconfirmed.

Which IntegratedDynamics config options matter?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Integrated Dynamics has a big common config, but only a handful of options change how the mod plays for you. Everything below is the value All the Mods 10 8.1 ships in general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier's file. Each part also has its own base energy cost listed there if you want to dig deeper.[7]

Power and energy

The big one is general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier, the energy usage multiplier for networks. In this pack it is set to 0. That multiplier is applied to the per-part base costs, such as 1 for most readers and writers, 4 for the variable store and 128 for the omni-directional connector.[7]

Unverified With the multiplier at 0, your networks likely don't need any power at all. The sources also don't show whether this value differs from the mod's own default.

If you still use batteries, machine.energy_battery.capacity is 1,000,000. machine.energy_battery.energyRateCapacityFraction is 2000, so a battery can move 1/2000 of its capacity per tick. machine.energy_battery.minEnergyRate also guarantees at least 2000 per tick.[7]

The Mechanical Squeezer and Mechanical Drying Basin each hold 100,000 energy and use 80 at a time. The squeezer can auto-eject 500 mB per tick.[7]

Reach and timing of parts

When a network breaks

core.general.recreateCorruptedNetworks is on, so corrupted networks are restored automatically on the first tick. core.general.safeMode is off. If a network keeps crashing your game, you can temporarily turn safe mode on to stop networks from ticking and evaluating values while you fix it.[7]

Tip: Getting FPS drops around big cable setups? The config itself suggests disabling machine.cable.dynamicShape, which is on in this pack. You can also lower general.general.partOverlayRenderdistance, which is set to 15.[7]
