What is Extended Industrialization?
3 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources, while staying true to the original mod's design and intended use. If you already enjoy building out Modern Industrialization factories, this is the mod that gives you more to build with.[1][2]
The pack includes version 1.16.2-1.21.1 of the mod.[3]
What you get
- Machines such as the Alloy Smelter, Bending Machine, Brewery, Canning Machine, Farmer, Large Furnace, Large Macerator, Machine Chainer and Processing Array.[1]
- Generators: the Solar Boiler and the Solar Panel.[1]
- Tools and equipment, including the Steam Chainsaw, the Electric Drill & Chainsaw, the Ultimate Laser Drill and the Nano Suit.[1]
- Resources such as Mulch, Manure, NPK Fertilizer and Crystallized Honey.[1]
Scaling your factory
The big idea is batching multiblocks. They work like a normal machine of their type but can process several inputs at once, so you can scale a factory further while configuring fewer machines and saving on performance. The Large Furnace, the Large Macerator and the Processing Array all work this way.[2][4]
Where it fits in the pack
You meet this mod early. In the Steam Age chapter, the quest a quest in "Steam Age: New Beginnings" asks for the Steel Alloy Smelter, which combines the jobs of a mixer and a furnace into one machine and makes the work less tedious.[5]
The Electric Age chapter follows up with a quest in "Electric Age: No more rookie", which asks for the Electric Alloy Smelter.[6]
Later, in the Digital Age chapter, a quest in "Digital Age" introduces the Processing Array as a large multiblock that simulates machines running in parallel.[7]
How do you get started with Extended Industrialization?
5 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so everything here builds on machines and materials you already know from that mod. The pack's quest book introduces it with the Alloy Smelter in the Steam Age, continues with its electric version, and reaches the Processing Array in the Digital Age chapter.[2][5][6][7]
Steel Alloy Smelter
Start with the Steel Alloy Smelter. The Steam Age quest a quest in "Steam Age: New Beginnings" points you to it. It combines the jobs of the Mixer and the Furnace into one machine, so the work is less tedious.[5]

Bronze machines and the Steel upgrade
The Bronze Bending Machine and the Bronze Composter are the bronze tier of those machines. The steel versions, Steel Bending Machine and Steel Composter, are made by combining the bronze machine with a Steel Upgrade, so you don't build them from scratch.[8]

Steam Farmer
Next is the Steam Farmer, which needs a Steel Combine to craft. The farmer tills and hydrates soil, plants, and harvests crops and trees. It won't run without enough energy, and the steam farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam.[8][9]

Processing Array
The big goal here is the Processing Array, covered by the Digital Age quest a quest in "Digital Age". It is a multiblock that runs batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you put into its interface. The quest says you need as many machines inside as the number of parallel operations you want.[4][7]

How does Extended Industrialization work?
8 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It extends that mod's content while staying true to its design. This section covers how the addon's main systems work: batching, chaining, brewing, farming, wireless power and solar generation.[1][2]
Batching multiblocks
Some multiblocks work like a normal machine of their type, but with a multiplier on how many inputs they process at once. If a multiblock can run a recipe in batches of Y, it can consume anywhere from 1x to Yx as many inputs at once and produce results to match. The EU/t it draws is multiplied by the number of batches it is currently running.[4]
The maximum batch count differs per machine, so check the tooltip on the machine item. Other machines still run only one recipe at a time.[4]
- Large Furnace: the batch size comes from the coils in the multiblock, much like building an Electric Blast Furnace. The tooltip on each coil tells you what it provides.[4]
- Large Macerator: the other batching multiblock in the guide, alongside the Large Furnace and the Processing Array.[4]
- Processing Array: runs batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you put into its interface. Its batch size is limited by its size and by how many machines you place inside.[4]
Machine Chainer
The Machine Chainer links machines, barrels, or any inventory block tagged #extended_industrialization:machine_chainer/linkable in a straight line, up to 64 blocks. All the linked inventories act as one shared inventory at the chainer. You can face it in any direction, including up and down.[10]
It handles items, fluids and energy. Energy transfer is capped at 3x the transfer rate of a single cable of its tier. It also cannot touch the energy of linked machines whose voltage doesn't match its own.[10]
A chainer can connect to other chainers, but it must not link back to itself. The Machine Chainer Relay can be linked by a chainer but has no inventory. Use it as filler so you don't need a real machine in every gap.[10][11]
Brewery and the Electric Beacon
The brewery works like a normal machine but runs brewing stand recipes. It uses Blazing Essence instead of blaze powder, and consumes exactly 1mb each time it brews a set. It brews exactly 4 potions at a time, where a brewing stand does 1 to 3.[12]
The Steel Brewery and Electric Brewery are crafted with the recipes below in this pack.[8]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/brewery/craft/steel
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/brewery/craft/electric
The Electric Beacon consumes potions and gives the effect to all nearby players for 256 EU/t per effect. The potion's duration in the beacon is its shortest effect, halved. An 8 minute speed potion therefore lasts 4 minutes. A 40 second turtle master potion lasts 20 seconds and costs 512 EU/t, because it has two effects.[13]
Because the beacon eats the potions, the guide recommends an automation loop with the Brewery to keep it running indefinitely.[13]
The beacon's range is larger than a normal beacon's. It depends on the number of layers beneath it, not counting the steel casing:[13]
Farmer
The farmer doesn't run recipes. It tills and hydrates soil, plants, fertilizes and harvests crops, plants and trees. You don't have to use every task, and sometimes you shouldn't. For trees, for example, you wouldn't want it tilling or hydrating soil.[9]
It won't operate without enough energy. The steam farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam and the electric farmer needs 64 EU/t. The dirt in the multiblock can be replaced with any block tagged #extended_industrialization:farmer_dirt.[9]
- Tilling: when enabled in the multiblock shape settings, the multiblock's dirt becomes farmland as if you'd used a hoe. The tooltip says this won't work unless water is supplied.[9][11]
- Hydrating: water in an input hatch keeps all the farmland hydrated, with no need for water placed nearby.[9]
- Planting: plantable items in an input hatch are planted on suitable blocks in its area. Only items tagged #extended_industrialization:farmer_plantable can be planted, and different planting modes plant in different arrangements.[9][11]
- Fertilizing: electric farmer only. With an accepted fluid fertilizer (EMI shows which) in an input hatch, it applies a bonemeal-like effect. This even works on plants that normally can't be bonemealed, such as cactus and sugar cane.[9]
- Harvesting: fully grown plants, or saplings that have become trees, are broken and stored as long as an output hatch has space.[9]
Wireless power with Tesla
Tesla transmitters and receivers move EU wirelessly, at a cost. A tesla network is limited to one transmitter (a Tesla Coil or Tesla Tower) but has no intrinsic limit on receivers. Each transmitter has its own range and passive drain.[14]
A transmitter can only send to a receiver of the exact same voltage. A Tesla Coil with an Advanced Machine Hull can't send to a receiver with no hull, but it can send to one that also has an Advanced Machine Hull.[14]
- Tesla Coil: the hull inside sets both the voltage and the passive EU/t drain. Higher voltages drain more.[11][14]
- Tesla Tower: the energy input hatches set the voltage, and all hatches must be the same tier. The windings set the passive drain, transfer limit and range, and each winding's tooltip lists its specifics.[11][14]
- Interdimensional upgrade: removes the range limit on a Tesla Tower and lets it transmit across dimensions.[11]
- Tesla Receiver: stores the energy it receives and ejects it from its output face. You can also pull energy out with cables, like any other energy-outputting block.[14]
- Tesla Receiver Hatch: receives energy the same way but works as an energy input hatch for a multiblock. That saves you a separate receiver plus input hatch.[14]
To link things up, hold a Tesla Calibrator and use its save-position key combo on the transmitter. Then use the calibrator on each receiver to link it. If you hold the calibrator in your off-hand while placing receivers, they link automatically. The Tesla Particle Generator generates arcs for aesthetic purposes only.[8][11][14]

This one only makes decorative arcs.
Solar power
Solar Boilers work like the normal bronze and steel boilers but burn no fuel. In exchange they need direct sunlight above them and produce half as much energy as a standard boiler of their type. They still need water.[15]
Over time a Solar Boiler calcifies and loses up to 33% efficiency. Using an axe on it resets the calcification. Feeding it Distilled Water avoids the problem entirely.[15]
Solar Panels produce energy in direct sunlight when given a photovoltaic cell of their tier. The cell erodes and eventually breaks, so you need to produce cells passively to keep power flowing by day. Distilled Water doubles a cell's lifetime.[15]
Machine Config Card
The Machine Config Card saves a machine's settings and applies them to other machines, which helps when you're setting up lots of identical machines. You can hold it in your off-hand while placing machines to apply the settings automatically, and clear it by using the clear combo on air.[11]

How do you progress through Extended Industrialization?
3 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It stretches that mod's content further while keeping its design, so your progression here follows the Modern Industrialization tiers: steam first, then electric, then the late machines. The quest sources here show three quests tied to this mod, so most of the path below comes from the in-pack recipes rather than from quests.[2][5][6][7]
Steam age
A key early machine is the Steel Alloy Smelter, covered by a quest in "Steam Age: New Beginnings" in the Steam Age chapter. The quest describes it as doing the job of a Mixer and a Furnace in one machine, which makes alloying less tedious. It has a normal crafting recipe and an assembler recipe.[5][8]

The rest of the early game is a set of bronze and steel machines. Here is what you can build before going electric:[8]
- Large Steam Furnace and Large Steam Macerator both have their own crafting recipes, so you can scale up smelting and macerating before electricity.[8]
- Steam Farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam to run. Its crafting recipe uses a Steel Combine, which has its own recipe.[8][9]
- Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter are the starting point for their lines. The pack changes both of these recipes from the mod's defaults. You then upgrade them into the Steel Bending Machine and Steel Composter with a Steel Upgrade.[8]

Electric age
Once power is up, the Electric Alloy Smelter is the next quest, a quest in "Electric Age: No more rookie". Its note says it works the same as the steam one.[6][8]

Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/alloy_smelter/craft/electric
- Large Electric Furnace is a batching multiblock. The number of batches it runs depends on the coils you build it with, and the coil's tooltip tells you the batch size.[4][8]
- Large Electric Macerator is the electric large macerator and also has its own crafting recipe.[4][8]
- Electric versions of the Electric Brewery, Electric Canning Machine, Electric Honey Extractor, Electric Bending Machine and Electric Composter all have their own recipes.[8]
- LV Solar Panel gives you early solar power. It only works in direct sunlight and needs a photovoltaic cell of its tier, which erodes over time and eventually breaks.[8][15]
- Machine Chainer Relay is a filler block for chained machines. A Machine Chainer can link machines in a straight line up to 64 blocks.[8][10]
If you want wireless power, LV Tesla Receiver Hatch is the LV receiver hatch. A hatch works as an energy input hatch for a multiblock. A transmitter can only send energy to a receiver of exactly the same voltage.[8][14]
Late game
The Digital Age chapter has the Processing Array quest, a quest in "Digital Age". It is a large multiblock that simulates machines running in parallel. You pick how many parallel machines you want in the controller GUI and put the machine you want to simulate into the slot on the right. You need as many machines as the operations you want. The quest asks for 51 clean stainless steel machine casings and 8 stainless steel pipe casings, plus item hatches and an energy hatch.[7]
The Processing Array can run batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you give it. The batch size is limited by its size and by how many machines you place inside.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/processing_array/craft
Other late-game options, all with their own recipes:[8]
- Electric Farmer needs 64 EU/t and adds fertilizing, which only the electric farmer can do. Its recipe builds on the Steam Farmer.[8][9]
- Electric Beacon consumes potions and gives the effect to nearby players for 256 EU/t per effect. With 4 layers beneath it, its range is 90.[8][13]
- HV Solar Panel is the HV counterpart to the LV solar panel.[8]
- HV Tesla Receiver Hatch and EV Tesla Receiver Hatch are the HV and EV receiver hatches for wireless power.[8][14]
- The pack changes the recipe of the Lethal Tesla Coil from the mod's default.[8]

How does Extended Industrialization work with other mods?
4 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so most of its connections in this pack go through Modern Industrialization parts. The in-pack recipes show that clearly: the machines, casings and modules all lean on Modern Industrialization components.[1][2][8]
Electric machines build on Modern Industrialization hulls and circuits
The electric versions of the addon machines, like the Electric Alloy Smelter, can be made in the crafting grid or in the Modern Industrialization assembler. The recipe below shows where the Basic Machine Hull and the Analog Circuit fit in.[8]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/alloy_smelter/craft/electric
The steel-tier machines, such as the Steel Alloy Smelter and Steel Brewery, start from a Steel Machine Casing instead of a hull.[8]
Steel upgrades
The Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter turn into steel machines with a Steel Upgrade. You can do this by hand or in the packer, and the unpacker reverses it and gives the upgrade back.[8]

Farmers, modules and high-tier gear
The Electric Farmer is an upgrade of the Steam Farmer, and the recipe below shows where the Large Motor and the Large Pump fit in. The Steam Farmer itself needs a Steel Combine.[8]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/farmer/craft/electric
The Looting Module and Silk Touch Module are assembler recipes. They use a rotary blade, a Robot Arm and Polyethylene. The Silk Touch Module uses Modern Industrialization's Invar Rotary Blade, while the Looting Module uses the addon's own Netherite Rotary Blade.[8]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)
2× Netherite Rotary Blade
1000× Polyethylene
4× Robot Arm
- 8× any stainless steel plates
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:assembler/looting_module
Higher-tier pieces use Modern Industrialization's top-end parts. The EV Tesla Receiver Hatch needs a Highly Advanced Machine Hull, and the HV Solar Panel needs a Turbo Machine Hull and a Digital Circuit. The Electric Beacon uses a Nether Star and an Advanced Machine Casing.[8]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)
Advanced Motor
2× Aluminum Cable
Digital Circuit
Turbo Machine Hull
- 2× any stainless steel rods
- 2× any fluid pipe
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/hv_solar_panel/assembler
The Electric Beacon runs on potions at 256 EU/t per effect. The addon's guide suggests automating the Brewery to keep it fed.[13]
Quests that cross over
- In the Steam Age chapter, quest a quest in "Steam Age: New Beginnings" asks for the Steel Alloy Smelter. The quest text says it comes from Extended Industrialization and does the job of the Mixer and the Furnace in one machine.[5]
- In the Electric Age chapter, quest a quest in "Electric Age: No more rookie" asks for the Electric Alloy Smelter. Its description says it is the same as the steam one.[6]
- In the Digital Age chapter, quest a quest in "Digital Age" is about the Processing Array. Besides the array, its tasks ask for 51 clean stainless steel machine casings, 8 stainless steel pipe casings, and item input, item output and energy input hatches from Modern Industrialization.[7]
The Processing Array can run batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you place in its interface. The batch size is limited by its size and by how many machines you put in.[4]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Extended Industrialization?
3 parts
Extended Industrialization shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. They follow the tech progression, so you meet the mod first in the Steam Age, then the Electric Age, and finally in the Digital Age.[5][6][7]
Steam Age: New Beginnings
Quest a quest in "Steam Age: New Beginnings" asks you to get a Steel Alloy Smelter. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter. The quest text says the Alloy Smelter comes from Extended Industrialization and combines the jobs of the Mixer and the Furnace into one machine, which makes the work less tedious.[5]
Electric Age: No more rookie
Quest a quest in "Electric Age: No more rookie" is the electric follow-up. Its note says it is the same as the steam one, and it asks you to get an Electric Alloy Smelter. It also unlocks after an earlier quest in its chapter.[6]
Digital Age
Quest a quest in "Digital Age" is about the Processing Array. The quest describes it as a large multiblock that simulates machines running in parallel. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[7]
The quest has several tasks. You hand in the Processing Array itself, 51 clean stainless steel machine casings and 8 stainless steel machine casing pipes. You also need one item input hatch, one item output hatch, and one energy input hatch or the steel fluid output hatch. Several tiers of each hatch are accepted.[7]
- Pick how many parallel machines you want to simulate in the GUI of the controller block.[7]
- Put the machine you want to simulate into the slot on the right side of the GUI.[7]
- Make sure you have as many of those machines as you want parallel operations.[7]
What changed in Extended Industrialization between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Extended Industrialization 1.16.2-1.21.1. The pack has carried the mod since 2.25 or earlier, and it has been updated many times since.[3][16]
The pack changelogs only record which version of the mod each release moved to. They don't say what changed inside the mod, so the milestones below are version jumps and not feature notes.[16][17]
Milestones in the pack
- 2.28 is the earliest update on record. It moved the mod from 1.11.0-beta to 1.11.2-beta, and 2.30 took it to 1.11.5-beta.[17][18]
- 2.31 jumped from 1.11.5-beta to 1.13.2, which is also where the beta tag disappears from the version name.[19]
- 2.36 moved the mod from 1.13.5 to 1.14.1. Later, 4.0 took it to 1.14.14.[20][21]
- 4.5 moved the mod from 1.14.15 to 1.15.0.[22]
- 4.15 was a big jump, from 1.15.10 to 1.15.19. 7.1 was another, from 1.15.37 to 1.15.42.[23][24]
- 8.0 updated the mod from 1.15.45 to 1.15.46.[25]
- 8.1 is the latest update on record, from 1.15.46 to 1.16.2.[16]
Unverified What actually changed inside the mod in each of these versions (new machines, recipe changes, fixes) is unverified. There are no stored changelogs for the jars shipped in the pack, and the pack changelogs don't say whether any pack-specific recipes or values changed with these updates.
