What is AttributeFix?

2 parts

AttributeFix is a behind-the-scenes fix mod. Minecraft uses an attribute system for important calculations such as armor values, attack damage and the maximum health of a mob, and that system also puts caps on how high any of those values can go.[1]

You usually won't notice those caps, but plenty of mods run into them without realizing it. AttributeFix raises the caps significantly so those mods can work the way their authors intended. That's why its tagline is that it fixes many mods![1]

Attributes it uncaps

Who it's for

This one is really for everyone playing the pack, because it helps other mods behave correctly. If you're stacking armor, boosting your health or building a big damage setup with gear from other mods, AttributeFix is what keeps those high values from being quietly cut off by vanilla's limits.[1]

This pack ships AttributeFix version 21.1.2 for NeoForge 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since its early releases.[2]

Unverified The sources don't show whether AttributeFix adds any items, recipes or quests, and they don't give the exact cap values the pack uses, so those details aren't covered here.

How do you get started with AttributeFix?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Good news: there's nothing you need to craft to get started with AttributeFix. It's a fixer mod that works in the background. It doesn't add a first item to build or a progression step to follow.[1]

Minecraft handles important calculations through an attribute system, covering everything from armor values to attack damage to a mob's maximum health. That system also has caps that limit how high any value can go. Many mods are unknowingly affected by those caps, and AttributeFix significantly raises them so those mods can work as they were intended.[1]

Attributes it affects

In practice, this means gear, effects and mobs from other mods in the pack that push these stats high aren't held back by the vanilla limits.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests, items or config values for AttributeFix, so there are no recipe blocks or setup steps in this section. The exact new cap values used in this pack are also unverified.

How does AttributeFix work?

3 parts

AttributeFix doesn't add machines, multiblocks or automation. It works in the background and adjusts one core system of Minecraft so that lots of other mods behave the way their authors intended.[1]

The attribute system and its caps

Minecraft uses an attribute system for many important calculations, from armor values to attack damage to a mob's maximum health. That system also introduced attribute caps, which limit how high any value can go. You usually won't notice these caps, but many mods are unknowingly affected by them. AttributeFix significantly raises these caps so those mods can work as intended.[1]

The mod's project page lists these attributes as the ones it affects:[1]

How the per-attribute config files work

AttributeFix gives each attribute its own small JSON config file. In this pack you'll find them in a folder called apothic_attributes, and each file uses the same layout with a max, a min and a modify_range setting.[3][4][5]

  • max sets the highest possible value for the attribute, for example max.value.[3]
  • min sets the lowest possible value for the attribute, for example min.value.[3]
  • modify_range decides whether the range for that attribute should be modified at all, for example modify_range.value.[3]
Tip: The modify_range switch is the one to watch. When it's set to false, the file is telling AttributeFix not to modify that attribute's range, so the max and min numbers next to it only take effect if the switch is set to true. In the armor pierce file, for example, it's false, which is also the default.[3]

Ranges in this pack

Here's how each apothic_attributes file is set in this pack. For every entry below, the values match the mod's defaults, so the pack hasn't changed them.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

  • Armor pierce: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[3]
  • Armor shred: min 0, max 2 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[4]
  • Arrow damage: min 0, max 10 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[5]
  • Arrow velocity: min 0, max 10 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[6]
  • Cold damage: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[7]
  • Crit chance: min 0, max 10 (max.value), with modify_range left at false.[8]
  • Crit damage: min 1, max 100 (min.value and max.value), with modify_range left at false.[9]
  • Current HP damage: min 0, max 1 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[10]
  • Dodge chance: min 0, max 1 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[11]
  • Draw speed: min 0, max 4 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[12]
  • Experience gained: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[13]
  • Fire damage: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[14]
  • Ghost health: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[15]
  • Healing received: min 0, max 1,000 (max.value), with modify_range left at false, matching the defaults.[16]

Unverified The exact new caps AttributeFix applies to attributes like Max Health and Armor aren't shown in the available sources. It's also not confirmed whether the pack has other AttributeFix config folders or files beyond the apothic_attributes ones listed here.

Which AttributeFix config options matter?

2 parts

AttributeFix in this pack is configured through a folder of small JSON files instead of one big config. You get one directory per mod under config/attributefix/ (for example apothic_attributes, ars_nouveau, artifacts, caelus, eternal_starlight and irons_spellbooks), and inside each directory one file per attribute.[3][17][18][19][20][21]

Every one of those files has the same three keys, each with a built-in description and the mod's default recorded next to it.[3]

  • min is described as the lowest possible value for the attribute.[3]
  • max is described as the highest possible value for the attribute.[3]
  • modify_range determines if the range for the attribute should be modified or not.[3]

What the pack actually changes

Nothing. In every AttributeFix file shipped here, the stored value matches the recorded default, and modify_range is false across the board. So if you were hoping the pack had quietly buffed or nerfed an attribute cap, it hasn't: these are the mod's own generated defaults, left alone.[3][8][9][21][22][23]

Tip: Because modify_range controls whether the range is modified at all, flipping it to true is the switch to reach for before you bother editing min or max for an attribute.[3]

Ranges you might want to know

If you do go poking around, these are the caps most likely to matter for combat and magic builds in this pack.[8][9]

  • Apothic Attributes crit chance runs 0 to 10, and crit damage runs 1 to 100.[8][9]
  • Life steal, overheal, mining speed, arrow damage and projectile damage all sit at 0 to 10; draw speed is 0 to 4.[5][12][24][25][26][27]
  • Armor pierce, fire damage, cold damage, ghost health, healing received and experience gained each cap at 1,000, while prot pierce caps at 34.[3][7][13][14][15][16][28]
  • Dodge chance, current HP damage and prot shred are 0 to 1, so they behave as percentages rather than big numbers.[10][11][29]
  • Iron's Spellbooks attributes such as spell power, magic resistance, cooldown reduction and cast time reduction run from -100 to 100; casting movespeed runs 0 to 100.[21][30][31][32][33]
  • Ars Nouveau perks: spell damage, max mana and saturation cap at 10,000, mana regen at 2,000, and drygmy, wixie and warding at 1,024.[22][34][35][36][37][38][39]
  • Artifacts eating speed and drinking speed have a minimum of 1 and a max of 1.7976931348623157e+308, while invincibility ticks cap at 1,200 and attack burning duration at 60.[18][23][40][41]

Keep in mind these files only cover attributes added by other mods. The core job of AttributeFix is raising the caps on Minecraft's own attributes, including max health, follow range, knockback resistance, movement speed, attack damage, attack speed, armor, armor toughness and luck, so that mods relying on big values work as intended.[1]

What changed in AttributeFix between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 2.12 ships AttributeFix 21.1.2. The mod was first included in All the Mods 10 0.62 or earlier.[2]

Mod releases

  • 21.1.2: disables the logo blur. This is the only change listed for that release, and it's the version you have in 2.12.[2][42]
  • 21.1.1: ported the mod to Minecraft 1.21.1.[43]

Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for AttributeFix, so any changes the pack itself made to this mod across its releases are not shown. Those would be listed in the pack's own release changelogs.
