What is Ars Elemental?
1 part
This pack ships Ars Elemental version 0.7.5.0.1, and it has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier. The sources don't include a guidebook or a mod description, so the only thing I can confirm about the mod's content is what the quest book asks you to craft: its four elemental armor sets.[1][2]
Where the quest book puts it
Ars Elemental has no chapter of its own in this pack. Its quests sit in the "basic_armor" chapter, which has 69 quests. That chapter is a big armor checklist: vanilla sets, trim smithing templates, Mekanism tools armor, Mystical Agriculture armor, and the Allthemodium family.[2]
There are four Ars Elemental quests in that chapter. Each one asks for a full set (hat, robes, leggings and boots) from one element:[2]
- Fire: a quest in "?", which asks for Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots.[2]
- Water: a quest in "?", which asks for Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots.[2]
- Earth: a quest in "?", which asks for Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots.[2]
- Air: a quest in "?", which asks for Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots.[2]
The same chapter also has quests for the Ars Nouveau armor sets (Arcanist's, Battlemage's and Sorcerer's) and for the Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium arcanist sets. The sources I have don't show how these quests are grouped or which ones unlock which, so I can't tell you what comes directly before or after the Ars Elemental sets in the book.[2]
How do you get started with Ars Elemental?
4 parts
Ars Elemental builds on Ars Nouveau, and in this pack almost everything you want from it starts with one item: the Mark of Mastery. The armor upgrades and the foci both use it, so make it first.[3]
Step 1: the Mark of Mastery
One craft gives you 5 marks. It is made at the enchanting apparatus from the six elemental essences, an ars_elemental:anima_essence and a Wilden Tribute. The mod's own advancement for it says to combine the essences with the tribute.[3][4]

Step 2: an elemental armor set
Next, upgrade Ars Nouveau magic armor into an elemental set. Each upgrade uses a mark, and the mod has 16 of these armor upgrade recipes. The quest book's basic armor chapter has one quest per set (fire, water, earth and air), and each asks for all four pieces. The air set's boots quest is a quest in "?".[2][3]
The air set is a good first pick. It absorbs some air-related damage and turns it into mana, and it greatly reduces fall damage.[4]

Step 3: a focus
The Lesser Focus of Air comes first, and the pack changed its recipe too. You then combine it with another mark to get the Focus of Air.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Air Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot

The mod's advancements also describe a levitation trick: use Launch and Extend Time while wearing an air focus to make a mob levitate.[4]
Step 4: bags for your gear
The Trinkets Pouch (Trinkets Pouch) is a cheap crafting-table recipe. You then upgrade it into the Spellcaster Bag (Spellcaster Bag), and the pack changed that recipe as well.[3]

How does Ars Elemental work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
In the sources available here, Ars Elemental's mechanics come down to crafting stations, rituals, familiars, armor sets and spell glyphs. None of them describes machines with power, fluid or item handling. This section covers what the sources do explain.[5][6]
Where things get crafted
Most of the mod's special items are made at stations from Ars Nouveau. The Air Bangle and the Focus of Air come from the enchanting apparatus. The Acceleration Prism Lens and the Air Infused Turret come from imbuement. Simpler items like the Trinkets Pouch use ordinary crafting.[6]
The Air Bangle is made at the enchanting apparatus.

The Focus of Air is an upgrade. You take the Lesser Focus of Air and combine it with the Mark of Mastery at the apparatus.[6]
This is the upgrade from the lesser focus to the full focus, made at the enchanting apparatus.
Armor upgrades
The Aethermancer's armor pieces use their own upgrade recipe type, and the pack has changed those recipes. That covers the Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots. The Slipstream Current Elevator recipe is also changed by the pack. Use the recipe blocks below rather than the mod's default recipes.[6]

Each elemental armor set has a set bonus, and the in-game tooltip shows it when you hold the set-info key. The air set absorbs some air-related damage and converts it into mana, and it highly reduces fall damage. The water set also converts damage into mana and refills your air if you're about to drown. The earth set gives food deep underground if you're about to starve. The fire set instantly clears fire.[5]
Rituals
The mod adds extra ritual tablets, such as Conjure Island: Archwood Forest. This one creates an island of grass and dirt in a circle around the ritual and converts the area to an Archwood Forest. The island has a radius of 7 blocks. Each Source Gem you augment the ritual with adds 1 to the radius. You also need to provide Source nearby while the blocks generate. Augmenting with an Elemental Archfruit makes it convert to a thematic forest instead.[5][6]
Crafting Shapeless
- any archwood log
Abjuration Essence
Conjuration Essence
Recipe id: ars_elemental:ritual_archwood_forest
The tablet is crafted from essences and any archwood log.
Familiars
Familiars are obtained by performing the Ritual of Binding near the matching creature. A Flarecannon Familiar increases the damage of Fire spells by 2 and reduces projectile-based spell costs by 20%. You can feed it a Magma Cream for a short Fire Resistance buff.[5]
A Siren Familiar increases the damage of Water spells by 2. It also gives the summoner Dolphin Grace II while in water.[5]
Enchantments and threads
- Mirror Shield can only go on the Enchanter's Shield. It gives a 25% chance per level of reflecting a spell projectile while you block.[5]
- Soulbound stops the enchanted item from being lost on death.[5]
- The Shock thread makes damaging effects shock the target for a short duration before the effect resolves, and it inflicts Static Charged at tier 3.[5]
- The Spore thread makes damaging effects poison the target or make it hungry for a short duration before the effect resolves.[5]
- The Summon thread reduces Summon Sickness by 10% for each tier. From tier 2 it also slightly increases damage dealt by summoned creatures.[5]
Spell glyph quirks
- Homing projectiles seek the nearest entity and act like a classic projectile when there is no valid target. Players are only targeted if you augment the glyph with Sensitive.[5]
- Arc projectiles are affected by gravity, and each Pierce applied makes them bounce once when they hit the ground.[5]
- Life Link shares damage you take with the target, and healing the target receives is shared with you. Sensitive reverses the direction, and Cut ends the link on both sides.[5]
- Charm makes enemies fight for you as a temporary ally, with tamable mobs being tamed and wild animals falling in love. Each Amplify and damage dealt raises the success chance, and stronger mobs resist more.[5]
How do you progress through Ars Elemental?
7 parts
The sources for this pack don't label Ars Elemental tiers, so this page follows what the quest book and the recipes actually show. The quest book covers the mod through its four elemental armor sets, and the recipes show which items gate which.[2][3]
What the quest book asks for
The four elemental armor sets sit in the basic_armor chapter, which has 69 quests. That chapter also holds the Ars Nouveau armor sets, plus vanilla and other modded armor. Each Ars Elemental quest asks for all four pieces of a set.[2]
- a quest in "?": Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?": Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?": Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?": Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots.[2]
Step 1: Mark of Mastery
Mark of Mastery is the key item you will keep running into. It is made at the enchanting apparatus, and one craft gives you 5 of them. The pack has 16 armor upgrade recipes for the mod, and Mark of Mastery is the one Ars Elemental ingredient they use.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
- Anima Essence
Abjuration Essence
Air Essence
Conjuration Essence
Earth Essence
Fire Essence
Manipulation Essence
Water Essence
Wilden Tribute
Recipe id: ars_elemental:mark_of_mastery
ars_elemental:anima_essence is an Ars Elemental item too, and it is made by imbuement. Several glyph recipes use it as well.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
Bone Meal
Golden Apple
Wither Skeleton Skull
- any source gem
Recipe id: ars_elemental:imbuement_anima_essence
Step 2: Armor upgrades
The elemental armor comes from upgrade recipes. The pack changed the ones for Aethermancer's Hat and Aethermancer's Boots, so use this version rather than any default you remember.[3]
Armor Upgrade (ars_elemental)
Mark of Mastery
2× Air Essence
- any magic boot
- any netherite ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_boots
The hat recipe is the same type and is also changed by the pack.
Step 3: Foci and turrets
Foci take two stages. You craft a lesser focus first, and the pack changed that recipe for both air and earth. You then combine it with a Mark of Mastery at the enchanting apparatus to get the full focus.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Air Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:lesser_air_focus
The full Focus of Air and Focus of Earth then feed the imbuement recipes for Air Infused Turret and Earth Infused Turret.[3]
Gear and utility items the pack changed
These recipes are marked as changed by the pack, so check them in the recipe viewer before you plan a build:[3]
- Enchanter's Bangle, the base for Air Bangle, Earth Bangle and Anima Bangle.[3]
- Spellcaster Bag, which builds on the Trinkets Pouch.[3]
- Enchanter's Horn and Spell Mirror.[3]
- Slipstream Current Elevator and Glyph Spike.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Ring of Potential
End Crystal
- 2× any gold storage block
- any source storage block
Recipe id: ars_elemental:base_bangle
Flashing Archwood and rituals
Flashing Archwood Sapling can be crafted directly. The pack also adds two Ex Deorum sieve recipes for it, one with a golden mesh and one with a diamond mesh. A Farming for Blockheads market recipe for it exists as well.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
Cascading Archwood Sapling or Flourishing Archwood Sapling or Blazing Archwood Sapling or Vexing Archwood Sapling
Air Essence
Recipe id: ars_elemental:flashing_sapling
The rituals Detection, Repulsion and Zapping each use Flashing Archwood Log. The pack also adds Create cutting recipes for stripping Flashing Archwood logs and wood.[3]
Glyphs and prism lenses
The pack has 19 glyph recipes that make Ars Elemental glyphs, and the changed Glyph Spike is one of them. Prism lenses such as Arc Prism Lens, Homing Prism Lens and Rainbow Prism Lens [REMOVED] are made by imbuement or at the enchanting apparatus. Several lenses use a glyph as an input.[3]
How does Ars Elemental work with other mods?
4 parts
Most of Ars Elemental's crafting in this pack runs through Ars Nouveau. Its recipes use Ars Nouveau's imbuement, enchanting apparatus and glyph crafting, and they call for Ars Nouveau essences, glyphs, scrolls and turrets. The pack also adds a sieve route that ties the mod to Ex Deorum, and plenty of vanilla items show up as ingredients.[3]
Elemental armor builds on Ars Nouveau armor
The Pyromancer, Aquamancer, Geomancer and Aethermancer armor sets are upgrades of Ars Nouveau's magic armor pieces. They use the armor upgrade recipe type, and the pack changed all of those recipes from the mod's defaults. Each piece needs Mark of Mastery, which is made at the enchanting apparatus from Ars Nouveau essences and a Wilden Tribute.[3]

The "basic_armor" quest chapter has a quest for each element, and each asks for the full set of hat, robes, leggings and boots. They are a quest in "?" for fire, a quest in "?" for water, a quest in "?" for earth and a quest in "?" for air.[2]
Getting the Flashing Archwood Sapling
Flashing Archwood Sapling links Ars Elemental to Ars Nouveau and to Ex Deorum. The mod has its own crafting route using Ars Nouveau saplings, and the pack added a sieve route with an Ex Deorum mesh. Sieve recipes exist for Iron Mesh, Golden Mesh, Diamond Mesh and Netherite Mesh. Both routes are shown below.[3]

Other recipes the pack changed
Besides the armor, the pack changed several other Ars Elemental recipes, so they may not match the mod's defaults. Check them in the recipe viewer rather than trusting older guides:[3]
- Enchanter's Bangle, the base for the elemental bangles, which uses Ars Nouveau's Ring of Potential[3]
- Spellcaster Bag, which is made from the Trinkets Pouch[3]
- Slipstream Current Elevator, the Slipstream Current Elevator[3]
- The lesser foci for air, earth, fire and water: Lesser Focus of Air, Lesser Focus of Earth, Lesser Focus of Fire and Lesser Focus of Water[3]
- The Glyph Spike glyph[3]
Other Ars Nouveau and vanilla links
The prism lenses are made with Ars Nouveau's imbuement or enchanting apparatus, and several are tied to Ars Nouveau glyphs such as Glyph Accelerate, Glyph Decelerate and Glyph Pierce. The air, earth and fire turrets are upgrades of Ars Nouveau's Enchanted Spell Turret, and Manipulation Infused Turret builds on the Focus of Block Shaping. Here is one lens and one turret as the pack has them:[3]

Manipulation Essence
- any quartz gem
Recipe id: ars_elemental:acceleration_prism_lens

Ars Elemental's own glyphs are crafted from Ars Nouveau items such as essences and the allow and deny scrolls, plus vanilla items. The summon filter glyphs, for example, use a Bone, and the undead filters use Rotten Flesh.[3]
Some rituals tie into Ars Nouveau too. Forestation - Archwood builds on Ars Nouveau's Forestation, and the Flashing Archwood Log gives you another recipe for Ars Nouveau's Flight. Both recipes are below.[3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Ars Elemental?
In this pack, Ars Elemental shows up in one quest chapter: "basic_armor", which has 69 quests in total. It is an armor chapter, so most of it covers vanilla, Mekanism Tools, Mystical Agriculture and other mods' armor sets. Ars Elemental gets four quests, one for each elemental armor set.[2]
Each of the four quests asks you to hand in a full set: a hat, robes, leggings and boots. Here they are:[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots.[2]
The quests are named after the boots, but every one needs all four pieces of its set, so you can't finish one with just the boots.[2]
Right next to these in the same chapter are the quests for the Ars Nouveau armor sets, such as a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Those belong to a different mod, so this section doesn't cover them.[2]
