What is Supplementaries?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Supplementaries is a "Vanilla+" mod. Instead of rebuilding the game, it fills gaps vanilla leaves open with functional, good-looking blocks and items that sit comfortably next to what you already know. The project page lists jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights, plus plenty more for decoration and automation.[1]
Who it's for
If you like making your base look great, or you want a few neat tools to automate small jobs, this mod is for you. The decoration and automation pieces are the main idea, so you can pick up whatever suits your build and ignore the rest.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8 as the NeoForge build. The project page says the mod requires Moonlight Library to run.[1][2]
The mod is described as highly configurable, and its developer points to the Customization section of the mod's official wiki for tweaking or disabling features. Keep in mind that the pack can change values, so check the pack's own configs rather than assuming mod defaults.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits into the pack's progression, so there is no confirmed guidance on when to use it. I also can't confirm any in-game guidebook for it.
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.14.0-beta guide
Supplementaries is a highly configurable mod that fills gaps in vanilla with things like jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces and planters. It needs Moonlight Library to run. In this pack the recipes for its items are changed from the mod's own, so follow the recipe blocks below rather than what you remember from other packs.[1][3]
Step 1: Make a Wrench
The first thing I'd craft is the Wrench. It rotates blocks, and the mod has an advancement for exactly that: use a Wrench to rotate a block.[4]
It also helps in the quest book. The quest a quest in "?" sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter, right after the Industrial Foregoing quest. It explains that most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, and the Supplementaries wrench is one of the valid ones for its task. The quest author tested mainly on the Laser Drill, so some wrenches might not work on other machines.[5]
The pack changes this recipe from the mod default, so this is the one to follow.
Step 2: The Altimeter
The Altimeter is another item whose recipe the pack has changed. Here is the exact in-pack recipe.[3]

Other items with pack recipes
The pack also has its own versions of the recipes for the Bellows, Bamboo Spikes, Bomb and Awning. The Bellows recipe is shown below as an example.[3]
How does Supplementaries work?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.14.0-beta guide
The sources for this section cover how the pack has configured Supplementaries, not machine tiers or energy systems. The mod describes itself as highly configurable, and the settings below cover jars, cages, the cannon, spikes and a handful of block behaviours.[1][6]
Jars and cages
Jar liquid capacity is set by functional.jar.capacity. In this pack it is 12, the same as the mod default. The config notes say to leave it at 12 for pixel accuracy, so I wouldn't touch it.[6]
Cages and jars can also capture mobs, and the pack keeps this fairly strict. These settings control it:[6]
- functional.cage.require_taming is on. A tameable mob can only be captured once it has been tamed.[6]
- functional.cage.health_threshold is 100, the mod default. Leaving it at 100 means mobs are accepted at any health level.[6]
- functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off. The config describes it as not meant for survival.[6]
- functional.cage.cage_allow_all_babies, functional.cage.cage_auto_detect and functional.jar.jar_auto_detect are all off. The auto-detect options would otherwise allow small mobs based on their hitbox size.[6]
- functional.cage.persistent_mobs is off, so captured hostile mobs are not forced to be persistent when released.[6]
Eating or drinking straight from a placed jar is disabled here. That is functional.jar.drink_from_jar, and drinking directly from jar items is also off via functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item.[6]
The cannon
The cannon's behaviour comes down to a few settings. The fuse time, which is the delay between lighting it and it firing, is 40 (functional.cannon.fuse_time), the mod default. The cooldown before it can fire again is 60 (functional.cannon.cooldown), also the mod default. The fire power multiplier is 0.6 (functional.cannon.fire_power), again the mod default.[6]
The cannonball pierce radius is 1.1 (functional.cannon.cannonball.radius). A bigger radius means less piercing power, because the ball wastes more energy breaking blocks.[6]
Bamboo spikes
functional.bamboo_spikes.only_allow_harmful_effects is on in this pack. That's the alternative mode where only harmful effects can be applied to Bamboo Spikes, and in exchange they get infinite durability. Mobs killed by spikes don't drop loot as if a player killed them, since functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is off.[3][6]

The pack changes this recipe from the mod's own.
Building blocks with behaviour
- Ash: burning mobs drop ash (building.ash.ash_from_burning_mobs), and rain slowly washes ash layers away (building.ash.rain_wash_ash). The chance for burnable blocks to leave ash is 1, the mod default (building.ash.ash_from_fire_chance).[6]
- Awnings: slanted awnings are enabled (building.awning.slant). They have a bouncing angle of 69.44395478041653, the mod default (building.awning.angle). Entities can fall through when shifting (building.awning.shift_through).[6]
- Blackboards: interaction mode is BOTH, so you can use the GUI or draw manually (building.blackboard.interaction_mode). Drawing with any dye is off (building.blackboard.colored_blackboard).[6]
- Notice boards: they have a GUI (building.notice_board.gui), but they only accept maps and books because building.notice_board.allow_any_item is off.[6]
- Iron gates: the door-like behaviour is off, so redstone-only opening is not enforced (building.iron_gate.door-like_gates). Two gates stacked on top of each other can open together (building.iron_gate.double_opening).[6]
- Pedestals: an end crystal placed on a pedestal gives an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves (building.pedestal.crystal_enchanting).[6]
- Planters: with Farmers Delight installed, planters also act like rich soil (building.planter.rich_soil_planter). Saplings growing in one do not break it (building.planter.broken_by_sapling).[6]
- Timber frames: axes can strip a frame and leave the contained block intact (building.timber_frame.axes_strip). Placing daub in a frame replaces it with wattle and daub (building.timber_frame.replace_daub).[6]
- Flags: the maximum pole length is 16 (building.flag.pole_length). Clicking a stick lowers or raises an attached flag (building.flag.stick_pole).[6]
- Sugar cubes: a horse that eats one gets a speed effect for 10 seconds (building.sugar_cube.horse_speed_duration).[6]
Tools, effects and enchantments
A few interactions are only described by advancement and tooltip text. You use a Wrench to rotate a block, and a Turn Table can rotate you. The Stasis enchantment lets Slingshot projectiles ignore gravity. The Overencumbered effect prevents sprinting, and higher levels reduce jump height and walking speed. The Flammable effect increases burn duration and spreads fire as you walk.[4]
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.14.0-beta guide
The only quest in the pack's quest book that touches Supplementaries is a quest in "?". It sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter and unlocks after the Industrial Foregoing quest. The sources here show no other quests for this mod, so there is no quest-by-quest path to follow.[5]
The wrench quest
The quest accepts the Wrench as one of several valid wrenches, alongside wrenches from other mods. Its text explains that most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, so the author collected the ones that can. They tested mainly on the Laser Drill, and some wrenches might not work with other machines.[5]
Here is the pack's recipe for the wrench. The recipe dump marks it as changed by the pack.[3]
The wrench recipe as the pack defines it.
Recipes are pack-specific
Every Supplementaries recipe shown in the pack's recipe data is marked as changed by the pack. That includes the wrench, the Altimeter, the Bomb, the Cage and the Bellows. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes from other packs or wikis. Check the recipe shown on this site, or in-game, before you gather materials.[3]

The altimeter's recipe is also changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod default.
How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
2 parts
In this pack, Supplementaries connects to other mods through three crafting recipes. All three are marked as changed by the pack, so don't expect the standard Supplementaries recipes you may know from other setups. Each one pulls in an ingredient from either Farmer's Delight or Create.[7]
Farmer's Delight
The Planter has a pack-changed recipe built around a Farmer's Delight item, so it ties your decoration and farming setups together. Here is the exact recipe:[7]
The Sack also uses a Farmer's Delight material in its pack-changed recipe, along with one vanilla item:[7]
Create
The Present is the link to Create. Its pack-changed recipe takes a single Create item, so you'll want Create's materials on hand before you start wrapping gifts:[7]
Unverified Whether any other Supplementaries recipes or quests in this pack connect to other mods could not be confirmed from the available sources.
Which Supplementaries config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.2 guide
Supplementaries has a lot of config options, and this section covers the ones you'll notice most while playing. Good news first: every numeric setting that lists a mod default is left at that default in this pack, so capacities, ranges and timers all behave the way the mod ships them.[8]
Unverified The config file doesn't list mod defaults for on/off toggles, so it isn't confirmed whether the pack changed any of the true/false settings below from the mod's defaults.
Jars and cages
- functional.jar.capacity is 12, which the config says matches the jar's pixel-accurate fill level.[8]
- Jars can capture small mobs, hold cookies and hold liquids from bottles, buckets and bowls, because functional.jar.jar_capture, functional.jar.jar_cookies and functional.jar.jar_liquids are all on.[8]
- You can't drink or eat straight out of a jar. Both functional.jar.drink_from_jar for placed jars and functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item for jar items are off.[8]
- functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off, and functional.cage.require_taming is on. That means a tameable mob can only be caught once you've tamed it.[8]
- functional.cage.health_threshold is 100, so a mob's health doesn't matter when you capture it. functional.cage.persistent_mobs is off, which means captured hostile mobs aren't made persistent when you release them.[8]
Sacks, quivers and baskets
- Sacks have 9 slots. functional.sack.sack_penalty is on, and functional.sack.sack_increment is 2. Carry more sacks than that and you get the overencumbered slowness, which gets one level stronger for each further multiple of 2.[8]
- Quivers hold 6 arrow stacks. tools.quiver.use_without_slow means using one doesn't slow you down, and tools.quiver.quiver_pickup sends arrows you pick up into a matching quiver.[8]
- Lunch baskets have 6 slots and can be placed on the ground, since tools.lunch_basket.placeable is on.[8]
Slingshots, bombs and cannons
- Slingshots in this pack can throw buckets, which place their contents when they land. Bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all disabled. A slingshot takes 20 ticks to fully charge.[8]
- Both normal and blue bombs are set to break only weak blocks through tools.bomb.break_blocks and tools.bomb.blue_bomb.break_blocks. The explosion radius is 2 for normal bombs and 5.15 for blue bombs.[8]
- tools.bomb.bomb_fuse is 0, so bombs explode on contact, and the bomb item cooldown is enabled.[8]
- Cannons use a fuse time of 40, a cooldown of 60 and a fire power multiplier of 0.6.[8]
Handy tweaks
- XP bottling at the enchanting table is off because tweaks.bottle_xp.enabled is false. The suspicious sand and gravel recipes are also off through tweaks.sus_recipes.enabled.[8]
- tweaks.map_tweaks.death_marker is set to WITH_COMPASS. Your death only shows on your map if you have a recovery compass in your inventory.[8]
- With functional.rope.slide_on_fall on, sliding down ropes is as fast as free falling and you still take no fall damage.[8]
- You can turn a skeleton horse into a zombie horse by feeding it 64 rotten flesh, and feeding it a golden carrot turns it back. Zombie horses can also be ridden underwater.[8]
- functional.safe.simple_safes is off, so safes still use keys. functional.safe.prevent_breaking is also off, which means other players can break them.[8]
What changed in Supplementaries between versions?
2 parts
All the Mons 0.6.0-beta ships Supplementaries 1.21-3.5.17 for NeoForge. The mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the two mod updates I have changelogs for, which are the ones leading up to the version you're playing.[9]
1.21-3.5.16
- Added a config option to disable ropes. Turning ropes off also automatically disables pulleys, buntings, rope arrows, the mineshaft elevator and compat blocks like rope tomatoes and rope chandeliers.[10]
- Improved the rope config description and the mod's configs in general, which fixed some items not being disabled properly.[10]
- Updated the deco blocks compat.[10]
1.21-3.5.17 (the version in this pack)
- Fixed the multishot slingshot consuming just 1 projectile.[11]
- Rope arrows shot from multishot crossbows can now be shot more than 1 at a time, and they still consume all the projectiles.[11]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Supplementaries were available, so any changes the pack itself made to this mod across its releases are unverified.
