What is Ars Elemental?
1 part
Ars Elemental is an add-on for Ars Nouveau. In this pack, the clearest sign of it is its four elemental armor sets, which the quest book shows with the item names and short descriptions below.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The quests for Ars Elemental are in the "Basic Armor" chapter. That chapter is in the "Tools and Gear" group and is chapter 26 of 70 in the book. It has 100 quests in total.[2]
There is one quest per elemental outfit, and each one asks you for the full set of four pieces: hat, robes, leggings and boots.[2]
- "Pyromancer Outfit" quest: the fire set, starting with Pyromancer's Hat. The quest calls it Ars Elemental Fire Armor.[2]
- "Aquamancer Outfit" quest: the water set, starting with Aquamancer's Hat. The quest calls it Ars Elemental Water Armor.[2]
- "Geomancer Outfit" quest: the earth set, starting with Geomancer's Hat. The quest calls it Ars Elemental Earth Armor.[2]
- "Aethermancer Outfit" quest: the air set, starting with Aethermancer's Hat. The quest calls it Ars Elemental Air Armor.[2]
The same chapter also holds the Ars Nouveau outfits, such as "Arcanist Outfit" quest, "Sorceror's Outfit" quest and "Battlemages Outfit" quest. It covers many other armor sets too, from vanilla ones like "Leather Armor" quest to modded ones like "MekaSuit" quest.[2]
The book lists only part of this chapter to me: 50 of its 100 quests are not shown here. If you want the full picture of what surrounds the Ars Elemental quests, open the chapter in the quest book.[2]
How do you get started with Ars Elemental?
4 parts
Ars Elemental builds on Ars Nouveau, so your first goals here are all about one item: the Mark of Mastery. It is the key ingredient for the elemental foci and for the elemental armor, so make it first and everything else opens up.[3][4]
Step 1: Mark of Mastery
The Mark is made by imbuement, and one craft gives you 5 of them. The mod's own advancement text describes it as combining the essences with the tribute, and the recipe below shows exactly what the pack asks for.[3][4]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
Abjuration Essence
Air Essence
Conjuration Essence
Earth Essence
Fire Essence
Manipulation Essence
Water Essence
Wilden Tribute
Anima Essence
Recipe id: ars_elemental:mark_of_mastery
Step 2: Your first focus
Next, make a Lesser Focus of Air. The pack changed this recipe, so don't trust the mod's default version if you have seen it elsewhere. It is also made by imbuement.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Air Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:lesser_air_focus
Then combine it with a Mark of Mastery to get the full Focus of Air. This is where the Marks you made in step 1 start paying off.[3]
Step 3: Elemental armor
Each elemental armor piece is a Mark of Mastery armor upgrade. The pack has 48 recipes of that armor upgrade type, all making Ars Elemental armor. Here is the Aethermancer's Hat as an example, and the Aethermancer's Boots work the same way.[3]
The Air set absorbs some air-related damage and highly reduces fall damage. Water, Earth and Fire sets have their own perks, such as refilling air if you are about to drown or instantly clearing fire.[4]
The quest book covers this gear too. In the Basic Armor chapter (group Tools and Gear, chapter 26 of 70) you will find "Arcanist Outfit" quest, "Aethermancer Outfit" quest, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest, "Geomancer Outfit" quest and "Pyromancer Outfit" quest.[2]
Step 4: Bags for your gear
The Trinkets Pouch is a simple crafting recipe and a handy early piece of storage for your trinkets.[3][4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: ars_elemental:curio_bag
You can then upgrade it into a Spellcaster Bag. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so follow the one below.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Trinkets Pouch
2× Manipulation Essence
2× Blaze Powder
- 2× any gold storage block

How does Ars Elemental work?
7 parts
Ars Elemental adds spellcasting gear, glyphs and elemental crafting recipes. This section covers what the pack's sources show: how its items are crafted, how its armor and familiars are described, and how a glyph is configured here.[3][4]
How its items are crafted
Most of the mod's items are made through Ars Nouveau crafting types. The recipe dump shows glyph recipes, enchanting apparatus recipes, imbuement recipes, armor upgrade recipes and a dye recipe, plus a plain shapeless crafting recipe for the Archwood Forest ritual item. Glyphs are the biggest group: 28 glyph recipes make Ars Elemental glyphs. There are also 48 armor upgrade recipes, and the only ingredient from this mod in them is the Mark of Mastery.[3]
The mod's own advancement text says you obtain the Mark of Mastery by combining the essences with the tribute.[4]
Foci and imbuement
The air line shows the progression well. The Lesser Focus of Air is made by imbuement, and the pack changed that recipe from the mod's version.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Air Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:lesser_air_focus
This recipe is changed by the pack.
The full Focus of Air is an enchanting apparatus recipe that upgrades the lesser focus using a Mark of Mastery.[3]
The Air Infused Turret is another imbuement recipe: it takes a Focus of Air and an Enchanted Spell Turret.[3]
The mod's advancement text says that casting Launch plus Extend Time while wearing an air focus can make a mob levitate.[4]
Transport and relays
The Slipstream Current Elevator is crafted at the enchanting apparatus, and the pack changed its recipe from the mod's version.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
4× Air Essence
Wilden Wing
2× Shulker Shell
- any gold storage block
Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_upstream
This recipe is changed by the pack.
The Wind Warper Relay is also an enchanting apparatus recipe. It is built from an Ars Nouveau Warper relay.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
2× Air Essence
Source Relay: Warper
- 2× any diamond gem
Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_relay
Armor sets
The mod's armor descriptions split elemental armor into light, medium and heavy types. Two or more set pieces give the set bonus, and four pieces of the same element give the school bonus. After absorbing damage from its element, light armor gives a higher spell critical chance for a short time, and medium armor gives a mana discount for a short time. Heavy armor converts some of the absorbed damage into mana, and with a full set, overflowing mana is converted into health.[4]
Each element also has its own school description. Air armor absorbs some air-related damage and highly reduces fall damage, and fire armor absorbs some fire-related damage and instantly clears fire. The Aethermancer's Boots are made with an armor upgrade recipe.[3][4]
Familiars and shields
Familiars are obtained by performing the Ritual of Binding near the matching creature. A Flarecannon Familiar increases Fire spell damage by 2 and reduces projectile-based spell costs by 20%. You can feed it a Magma Cream to get a short Fire Resistance buff.[4]
The mirror shield enchantment can only be applied to the Enchanter's Shield. It gives a chance of reflecting a spell projectile while blocking, 25% per level.[4]
Glyphs worth knowing
- Glyph Arc Projectile: per the mod's description, the projectile is affected by gravity, and every Pierce applied makes it bounce one time when it hits the ground.[3][4]
- Glyph Propagator Arc: converts the remainder of the spell into an Arc Projectile and shoots it from where it lands. Its recipe builds on the Arc Projectile glyph.[3][4]
- Glyph Life Link: per the mod's description, it creates a link between your life force and the target's, so damage dealt to you is shared with the target and healing of the target is shared with you. Sensitive reverses the direction of the link, and Cut can sever it.[3][4]
- Glyph Charm: tries to dominate an enemy so it fights for you as a temporary ally. Each Amplify and damage dealt raises the chance of success, and stronger mobs have higher resistance.[3][4]
- Glyph Aerial Filter: stops the spell from resolving if the target is an aerial creature.[3][4]
Glyph settings in this pack
Each glyph has its own config file with options such as cost, tier, a per-spell limit and whether it is enabled. The Nullify Defense glyph shows the layout. The pack has it switched off, with general.enabled set to false. Its general.cost is 1,000 and its general.glyph_tier is 3, both the same as the mod default.[5]
In this pack the same file sets the augment cost overrides, the augment limits and the invalid combos each to an empty list.[5]
The glyph itself nullifies the target's innate immunity after it takes damage, making it vulnerable to damage again.[4]
How do you progress through Ars Elemental?
5 parts
Ars Elemental builds on Ars Nouveau: its recipes use Ars Nouveau essences, armor and machines. The mod's quests all sit in the "Basic Armor" chapter (group "Tools and Gear", chapter 26 of 70): "Pyromancer Outfit" quest, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest, "Geomancer Outfit" quest and "Aethermancer Outfit" quest. The same chapter holds the Ars Nouveau outfits, where "Arcanist Outfit" quest is the Iron version, "Sorceror's Outfit" quest is the Gold version and "Battlemages Outfit" quest is the Diamond version.[2][3]
The recipe dump lists many more Ars Elemental items than the quests cover, so the steps below follow the in-pack recipes. Treat them as a sensible order to work through, not a quest-book path.[2][3]
Step 1: Mark of Mastery
Mark of Mastery is the key item to unlock. It is the only Ars Elemental ingredient across the 48 armor upgrade recipes, and one imbuement craft makes 5 of them. You also need it to turn lesser foci into full foci.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
Abjuration Essence
Air Essence
Conjuration Essence
Earth Essence
Fire Essence
Manipulation Essence
Water Essence
Wilden Tribute
Anima Essence
Recipe id: ars_elemental:mark_of_mastery
Step 2: Foci and turrets
The lesser foci come first. The pack changed the recipes for Lesser Focus of Air and Lesser Focus of Earth, so use the recipes below rather than the mod's defaults. Each full focus is then made at the enchanting apparatus from its lesser version, and a full focus is what an infused turret is built around.[3]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Air Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:lesser_air_focus
The Earth Infused Turret follows the same pattern, built around the Focus of Earth.
Step 3: Elemental armor
The elemental outfits are not crafted from scratch. They are armor upgrade recipes that start from Ars Nouveau armor. Two of them are shown below: Aethermancer's Hat and Aethermancer's Boots. The other pieces are not written out individually in the sources here, so check the in-game recipe viewer for those.[3]
Step 4: Bangles, bags and utility items
The Enchanter's Bangle is the base for the elemental bangles: Air Bangle, Earth Bangle and Anima Bangle all start from it. The pack changed the recipe for the base bangle, shown below.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Ring of Potential
End Crystal
- 2× any gold storage block
- any source storage block
Recipe id: ars_elemental:base_bangle
The pack also changed the recipes for Spellcaster Bag, Spell Mirror, Flashjack Charm and Slipstream Current Elevator, shown below. The Glyph Spike glyph is changed too.[3]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
4× Air Essence
Wilden Wing
2× Shulker Shell
- any gold storage block

2× Air Essence
- 2× any gold ingot

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
- 2× any quartz gem
- 2× any gold ingot
- 2× any archwood log
- any source storage block

One craft makes 2 Spell Mirrors.
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Trinkets Pouch
2× Manipulation Essence
2× Blaze Powder
- 2× any gold storage block

Flashing Archwood
You can craft Flashing Archwood Sapling from the other archwood saplings plus an Air Essence. The pack also changed its Farming for Blockheads market entry, and the sapling market preset in the pack's data files charges 1 valuable token (allthemons:valuable_token).[3][6]
Crafting Shapeless
Cascading Archwood Sapling or Flourishing Archwood Sapling or Blazing Archwood Sapling or Vexing Archwood Sapling
Air Essence
Recipe id: ars_elemental:flashing_sapling
Flashing Archwood logs feed several rituals, such as Repulsion, Detection and Zapping. The pack also adds Create cutting recipes for stripping the log and the wood.[3]
How does Ars Elemental work with other mods?
6 parts
Ars Elemental is built on top of Ars Nouveau, and the pack's recipes show it. Nearly everything here is crafted at Ars Nouveau stations (the enchanting apparatus, imbuement and glyph crafting) and runs on Ars Nouveau essences. A few recipes also reach into Ars Technica, Create and the pack's own items.[3]
Mark of Mastery: the link item
Mark of Mastery ties the mods together. It is made with an Ars Nouveau imbuement recipe that uses most of the Ars Nouveau essences, and one craft gives 5 marks. You then spend marks on armor upgrades, including some that produce Ars Technica gear.[3]

Armor upgrades
The elemental armor sets are upgrades of Ars Nouveau armor. For example, Aethermancer's Boots upgrades from Arcanist's Treads, and Thunderguard's Boots upgrades from Battlemage's Boots.[3]
The cinder items combine the Air and Fire versions of a piece of gear. Cindermancer Boots, Cinder Bangle and Focus of Cinder all work this way and use Cinder Essence.[3]
Ars Technica and Create
9 armor upgrade recipes use Mark of Mastery to make Ars Technica gear, such as Artificer's Cap and Machinaguard's Helmet. The pack changed all of the ones shown here. The cap and helmet also need Engineer's Goggles from Create.[3]
Armor Upgrade (sauce)
Mark of Mastery
Sorceror's Collar
Engineer's Goggles
- any brass ingots
- any netherite ingot

Create also cuts the stripped Flashing Archwood from this mod. The pack changed both cutting recipes, so each log or wood block gives 6 Archwood Planks.[3]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/compat/ars_elemental/stripped_yellow_archwood_log
Glyphs and rituals
28 Ars Elemental glyphs are crafted with Ars Nouveau's glyph recipe type, using Ars Nouveau and vanilla items. Several also use Anima Essence. Glyph Rage is one example.[3]
Flashing Archwood Sapling is crafted from the four Ars Nouveau archwood sapling colours. The Archwood rituals in this mod also build on Ars Nouveau items. Forestation - Archwood, for instance, builds on Forestation.[3]
What the pack changed
The recipe dump marks these Ars Elemental related recipes as changed by the pack, so don't expect the mod's defaults:[3]
- Lesser Focus of Air and Lesser Focus of Earth, plus the matching thread foci Air Focus and Earth Focus[3]
- Enchanter's Bangle, Spellcaster Bag and Flashjack Charm[3]
- Slipstream Current Elevator and the glyph recipe for Glyph Spike[3]
The pack also edited the Ars Elemental market presets for saplings and seeds. In both files the payment is 1 Slightly More Valuable PokéToken.[6][7]
In the quest book
The "Basic Armor" chapter (group "Tools and Gear", chapter 26 of 70) has outfit quests for the Ars Nouveau sets: "Arcanist Outfit" quest, "Battlemages Outfit" quest and "Sorceror's Outfit" quest. It also has one for each elemental set: "Geomancer Outfit" quest, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest, "Pyromancer Outfit" quest and "Aethermancer Outfit" quest. The chapter has 100 quests and the rest are in the quest book.[2]
Which All the Mons quests use Ars Elemental?
2 parts
All of this mod's quests sit in a single chapter: "Basic Armor", in the "Tools and Gear" group (chapter 26 of 70 in the quest book). It's an armor chapter, so each Ars Elemental quest asks you to get one full four-piece elemental outfit.[2]
The four elemental outfits
- "Pyromancer Outfit" quest is the fire set. It asks for Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots.[2]
- "Aquamancer Outfit" quest is the water set. It asks for Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots.[2]
- "Geomancer Outfit" quest is the earth set. It asks for Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots.[2]
- "Aethermancer Outfit" quest is the air set. It asks for Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots.[2]
Each quest has four tasks, one per armor piece, and the quest text is just a short label for the element: Fire, Water, Earth or Air Armor.[2]
What else is in the chapter
The same chapter holds the Ars Nouveau outfits, such as "Arcanist Outfit" quest, "Sorceror's Outfit" quest and "Battlemages Outfit" quest, plus Arcanist gear from other mods like "Allthemodium Arcanist Gear" quest. So the elemental outfits sit among the other magic armor sets.[2]
The quest book gives no crafting steps for the elemental outfits, and the order of the quests inside the chapter isn't shown in the sources I have, so I can't say which of the four comes first.[2]
Which Ars Elemental config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
The only Ars Elemental config I can confirm for this pack is the glyph file config/ars_elemental/glyph_nullify_defense.toml. Other Ars Elemental config files aren't covered here, so I'm not guessing at them.[8]
The option you'll care about most
general.enabled is set to false in this pack. The option is labelled "Is Enabled?". The source doesn't list a mod default for it, so I can't say whether the pack changed it.[8]
general.starter is also false. That option is labelled "Is Starter Glyph?", and the source gives no mod default for it either.[8]
Values that match the mod default
The pack leaves the following options at the mod default, so nothing is changed here:[8]
- general.cost is 1,000, the same as the mod default.[8]
- general.glyph_tier is 3, the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 99.[8]
- general.per_spell_limit is 2,147,483,647, the same as the mod default. It caps how many times this glyph can appear in a single spell.[8]
Empty lists
These options are left as empty lists, so the pack adds no custom entries: general.augment_cost_overrides, general.augment_limits and general.invalid_combos.[8]
If you want to use them yourself, the file's own examples show the format. Cost overrides and augment limits take entries like "glyph_amplify=50" and "glyph_amplify=5". Invalid combos take a glyph id like "glyph_burst".[8]
