What is Ars Elemancy?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.1 guide

Ars Elemancy is included in this pack as version 1.12, specifically the file ars_elemancy-1.21.1-1.12.4.jar. If you're checking whether your own setup matches the pack, that file name is the one to look for.[1]

Unverified The sources available for this section don't describe what Ars Elemancy adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression, so those details are left out here rather than guessed.

How do you get started with Ars Elemancy?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Elemancy sits on top of Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental. It doesn't start from scratch. It takes gear you already have from those mods and fuses two elements into one. So your first steps are about getting the right ingredient, then deciding what to upgrade first.[2]

Step 1: Make Cinder Essence

Everything in the Cinder line needs Cinder Essence. It's made by imbuement from Air Essence, Fire Essence and Manipulation Essence, all from Ars Nouveau. Make a few, because every Cinder upgrade uses one.[2]

Cinder EssenceMod recipe

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_essence

Step 2: Pick your first upgrade

The Cinder upgrades combine a Fire item and an Air item from Ars Elemental, plus a Mark of Mastery. You need those base pieces first. Their own recipes aren't covered here.[2]

  1. Start with Focus of Cinder. It's made at the enchanting apparatus from a Focus of Air and a Focus of Fire. It amplifies glyphs of the Fire and Air schools and gives them a discount.[2][3]
  2. Next, craft the Cinder Bangle, also at the enchanting apparatus, from an Air Bangle and a Fire Bangle.[2]
  3. Then move on to armor. Each Cinder piece is an armor upgrade of the matching Air and Fire pieces, so you need both elemental sets first.[2]

Why Cinder armor

The Cinder set absorbs some fire- and air-related damage, instantly clears fire and greatly reduces fall damage. That's handy in the Nether and for exploring. It comes in a light version, built from the Pyromaniac and Olympian sets, and a heavy version, built from the Netherguard and Thunderguard sets. The heavy pieces are named Ashguard's, for example Ashguard's Helmet.[2][3]

Set bonuses need 2 or 4 pieces, and the school bonus needs 4 pieces of the same element. Hold the shift key on a piece in game to read its set info.[3]

Later: Elemancer gear

The top tier is Elemancer gear, which covers all 4 elemental schools. The Elemancer Bangle, for example, combines two other bangles. You can use a Cinder Bangle with a Mire Bangle, or a Lava Bangle with a Tempest Bangle. Each upgrade also needs an Elemancer Shard and a Mark of Mastery.[2][3]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:elemancer_bangle_3

Unverified The recipe for Elemancer Shard, the recipes for the other elemental essences (Lava, Mire, Silt, Tempest, Vapor), and the exact effect of the bangles are not confirmed by the sources for this pack. No quests in this pack involve the mod.

How does Ars Elemancy work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Elemancy doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation that the sources describe. What it does add is a layer of elemental gear and crafting inputs that sit on top of Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental. So this section covers how those pieces fit together and which crafting stations you use.[2][3]

Where you craft Cinder gear

Everything Cinder-themed starts with Cinder Essence. In this pack it is made at the Imbuement station from Air Essence, Fire Essence and Manipulation Essence. Fire plus air is why it's called Cinder.[2]

Cinder EssenceMod recipe

Imbuement (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_essence

The Cinder items you can make are a focus, a bangle and several armor pieces. Each one combines the Air and Fire versions of the same item with Cinder Essence. The focus and the bangle use the Enchanting Apparatus, and the armor pieces use an armor upgrade recipe type. The bangle and every armor piece also need a Mark of Mastery.[2]

Cinder BangleMod recipe

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Tip: Armor upgrade recipes take the Air and Fire pieces of the same slot. Craft or collect both before you gather Cinder Essence and the Mark of Mastery.[2]

How foci work

A focus is attuned to a specific element and empowers some glyphs with new effects. The Focus of Cinder specifically amplifies and discounts glyphs of the Fire and Air schools. The Elemental focus does the same across all 4 schools.[3]

The tooltips also say that you can hold the shift key to see more focus info, and the same applies to armor sets for set info.[3]

Armor set bonuses

Armor bonuses come in two kinds. An armor set bonus needs 2 or 4 pieces. A school set bonus needs 4 pieces of the same element. The Cinder set description says it absorbs some fire- and air-related damage, instantly clears fire and highly reduces fall damage.[3]

The heavy and light Cinder variants are described as attuned to the Schools of Fire and Air. The heavy variant combines the effects of the Netherguard and Thunderguard sets, and the light variant combines the Pyromaniac and Olympian sets. This lines up with what the upgrade recipes consume. Ashguard's pieces are built from Thunderguard's and Netherguard's pieces, and Phoenix's Hood from the Olympian's and Pyromaniac's hoods.[2][3]

Unverified The sources don't confirm which Cinder pieces belong to which armor set variant (the Cindermancer set in particular), or the exact numbers behind the damage absorption and spell discounts. No config files for this mod are available in the pack, and no machines, multiblocks, mana or fluid handling, or automation behavior specific to Ars Elemancy could be confirmed.

How do you progress through Ars Elemancy?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

In this pack, Ars Elemancy gear is an upgrade ladder built on top of the elemental gear from Ars Elemental. The pieces are made by merging two lower pieces with an essence and a Mark of Mastery. Here's how the steps stack up.[2]

Step 1: the gear you bring with you

The bottom of the ladder isn't from this mod. The Cinder recipes take Ars Elemental's air and fire sets as inputs, such as the Air Bangle, Fire Bangle, Aethermancer's Boots and Pyromancer's Boots. To reach a Cinder piece you need both matching elemental pieces first.[2]

Step 2: Cinder gear

Cinder is the air and fire combination. It starts with Cinder Essence, which has its own imbuement recipe made from the Ars Nouveau air, fire and manipulation essences.[2]

Cinder EssenceMod recipe

Imbuement (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_essence

With the essence in hand, you merge one air piece and one fire piece plus a Mark of Mastery. The Cinder Bangle and Focus of Cinder are made at the Ars Nouveau enchanting apparatus. The Focus of Cinder uses the Focus of Air and the Focus of Fire.[2]

The Cinder armor uses an armor upgrade recipe instead. There are three families, and each one merges the matching air and fire family:[2]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_boots_1

The other Cinder armor pieces follow the same pattern of one air piece, one fire piece, Cinder Essence and a Mark of Mastery.

Step 3: Elemancer gear

The Elemancer set needs an Elemancer Shard (Elemancer Shard) and a Mark of Mastery, and it merges two pieces of the same kind from this mod. The pairings in the recipes are:[2]

Each of the three pairings gives the same result. For the bangle that is the Elemancer Bangle. The same pattern covers Elemancer Boots (from the mancer boots), plus Omniguard's Chestplate and Omniguard's Boots (from the guard sets).[2]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:elemancer_bangle_3

This is one of three pairings that make the Elemancer Bangle.

Tip: Decide which pairing you're going for before you spend your Cinder gear. The Cinder and Mire route is the one that uses it, while the other two pairings use different pieces.[2]

Quests

Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter for this mod, so the order above comes from the in-pack recipes alone. Check the pack's quest book in game for any guidance on when to start on this gear.

How does Ars Elemancy work with other mods?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Elemancy is an add-on that builds on Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental in this pack. The recipe data links it to those two mods, so this section covers what you bring over from each, and how the mod's own gear then combines at the top tier.[2]

Ars Nouveau: where the essences come from

The mod's crafting materials are made with Ars Nouveau's imbuement process, using Ars Nouveau's own essences. Cinder Essence is made from air, fire and manipulation essences. Elemancer Shard (the Elemancer Shard) is the bigger one: it needs air, earth, fire and water essences plus a Source Gem.[2]

The Elemancer Shard is also made through imbuement.

Ars Nouveau's enchanting apparatus also handles the jewelry and focus upgrades. The Cinder Bangle, the Elemancer Bangle and the Focus of Cinder are all crafted there.[2]

Ars Elemental: the gear you upgrade

The Cinder line is built directly on Ars Elemental's air and fire gear. The Focus of Cinder and Cinder Bangle use Ars Elemental's air and fire versions of the focus and bangle. The armor follows the same pattern, so you need the matching air and fire pieces from Ars Elemental for each slot.[2]

The Cinder armor comes in several families: the Cindermancer set (for example Cindermancer Hat and Cindermancer Boots), the Phoenix's set (for example Phoenix's Hood and Phoenix's Tunic) and the heavy Ashguard's set (for example Ashguard's Helmet and Ashguard's Chestplate). Each piece is an armor upgrade of its Ars Elemental counterpart.[2]

Example armor upgrade: the Cindermancer Boots.

Tip: Mark of Mastery from Ars Elemental shows up in every bangle and armor upgrade in the recipe data, including the Elemancer-tier ones. It's worth working out how to obtain it early.[2]

Elemancer tier: combining the mod's own gear

The top tier, the Elemancer and Omniguard's gear, is made by merging pairs of Ars Elemancy's own pieces. The recipes pair Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor. For example, the Elemancer Bangle and Elemancer Hat can be made from each of those pairs.[2]

Elemancer HatMod recipe

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:elemancer_hat_3

One of the Elemancer Hat routes: Cinder and Mire hats combined.

Even at this tier you still need an Elemancer Shard and an Mark of Mastery, so Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental stay part of the chain all the way up.[2]
