What is Farming for Blockheads?
1 part
Farming for Blockheads is the mod behind the Market. In this pack you're running version 21.1.13 of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]
The pack's quest book describes the Market as the way to get a villager who sells you basically anything for emeralds. The quest text says it's usually just 1 Emerald per item, and that the villager has everything. That makes it a handy shop for farm supplies.[2]
Where it fits in the pack
You'll first run into the Market in the Food and Farming chapter. The quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest comes after the quest "Mary had a Little Lamb" and asks you to get a Market.[2]
The Market comes up again in the CobbleWorkers & Farming chapter. In "Vanilla Mobs" quest, the quest text says you can get passive mobs back, but they cost something in the Market. It unlocks after the quest "Cobble Workers and Poke Farming".[3]
Unverified The sources don't show Farming for Blockheads on the ATM Star path, and they don't list a guidebook or platform page for the mod. Treat anything beyond the two quests above as unconfirmed for now.
How do you get started with Farming for Blockheads?
3 parts
Farming for Blockheads in this pack starts with one block: the Market. Both quest chapters that cover this mod ask you to get one, so it is the first thing to make.[2][3]
Step 1: Craft the Market

The Market provides a villager that can sell you anything if you have the right amount of emeralds. The quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest says it's usually just 1 Emerald per item.[2]
It also brings back the passive mobs. The quest "Vanilla Mobs" quest says you get them back for a price in the Market.[3]
Step 2: Make fertilizer
Next, look at fertilizer for your crops. Green Fertilizer increases crop output, and the mod has a setting for the chance of a bonus crop with it. Red Fertilizer has a setting for the chance of a bonus growth. Fertilized Farmland can turn back into regular Farmland, so expect to reapply it.[5]
The pack changed the crafting recipes for Green and Red Fertilizer. It also changed the Market's offers for Green, Red and Yellow Fertilizer. The Yellow Fertilizer crafting recipe is the mod's own.[4]

Next: Automate your animals
Once you have animals, the Chicken Nest collects eggs laid by chickens. It picks up laid eggs within a range, and the mod has a setting for that range.[4][5]

The Feeding Trough auto-feeds nearby animals that are ready to mate. It has a configurable range, and it stops feeding once the maximum number of animals per type is reached.[4][5]

How does Farming for Blockheads work?
5 parts
Farming for Blockheads is built around a handful of blocks that do one job each: a shop, an egg collector, an animal feeder and a set of fertilizers. The sources for this pack explain them mostly through their tooltips and config descriptions, so here is what can be confirmed.[5]
The Market
The Market opens a screen where you pick an offer. It shows "No Selection" until you choose one. The mod also has a Merchant entity, and its name is picked from a configurable list of merchant names.[5]
Market offers are recipes, each with a category and a preset. The mod's config groups them: the default alias covers seeds, saplings and the vanilla fertilizer offers. Server owners can enable extra groups, or disable groups, and the disable list wins over the enable list. Disabling the seeds group, for example, removes every seed from the market.[5]
The pack adds its own seed offers to the market, all in the seeds category. From Actually Additions you get:[6]
From Silent Gear the pack adds Fluffy Seeds and Flax Seeds.[7]
The market offers for the green, red and yellow fertilizers are marked as changed by the pack. The recipe dump lists no item inputs for them, so what they cost in the market is not confirmed here.[4]
Chicken Nest
The Chicken Nest collects eggs laid by chickens. It picks up laid eggs within a configurable range.[5]

Feeding Trough
The Feeding Trough automatically feeds nearby animals that are ready to mate. Config options limit it: a range within which animals can be fed, and a maximum number of animals per type, after which the trough stops feeding.[5]

Fertilizers and Fertilized Farmland
Green Fertilizer increases crop output. It gives a chance of a bonus crop. Red Fertilizer gives a chance of a bonus growth.[5]
Using fertilizer turns your farmland into Fertilized Farmland. There are several variants of this block, named healthy, rich and stable in the mod's block names. Each time the farmland provides a bonus, there is a configurable chance it turns back into regular farmland, so you will need to re-fertilize now and then.[5]
The pack changed the crafting recipes for green and red fertilizer. Yellow fertilizer keeps the mod's own crafting recipe. The green, red and yellow recipes each make 4 fertilizers per craft.[4]

What is not confirmed
Unverified The pack ships no config file for this mod in the sources I have, so the actual values for the nest range, trough range, trough animal limit, bonus chances and regression chance are unknown. The effect of yellow fertilizer, and which Fertilized Farmland variant each fertilizer produces, are also not described in the sources.
How do you progress through Farming for Blockheads?
3 parts
Farming for Blockheads in this pack is a short ladder, not a big tech tree. You start with the Market, then add animal helpers, then fertilizers. The pack's quests only ask you for the Market, so the rest of this section follows the in-pack recipes.[2][3][4]
The Market
The Market is the core of the mod and the item both of the pack's quests ask for. It is crafted with the recipe below.[2][3][4]
Crafting Shaped
| any plank | any plank | |
| any log | Empty slot | any log |
| any log | any log | any log |
Recipe id: farmingforblockheads:market
This is the mod's own recipe, the pack did not change it.
The quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest sits in the Food and Farming chapter and unlocks after the quest called Mary had a Little Lamb. It describes the Market as giving you a villager that sells you anything for emeralds, usually just 1 emerald per item.[2]
The quest "Vanilla Mobs" quest is in the CobbleWorkers & Farming chapter and comes after Cobble Workers and Poke Farming. It also asks for a Market. Its text says you can have the passive mobs back, for a price in the Market.[3]
Animal helpers
The Chicken Nest and the Feeding Trough both use the mod's own recipes. No quest in the sources covers them. Here is the nest:[4]

Fertilizers
The mod's fertilizers in this pack are Green Fertilizer, Red Fertilizer and Yellow Fertilizer. The pack changed the crafting recipes for green and red. Yellow keeps the mod's recipe.[4]

The pack also changed the Market's own offers for each of these fertilizers, so check the Market in game if you would rather buy them than craft them.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Farming for Blockheads?
3 parts
In this pack, the Market shows up as a task in two quests, in two different chapters. Both ask you to have a Market, and both treat it as a shop you can use to buy things.[2][3]
Food and Farming
In the Food and Farming chapter, "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest asks you to get a Market. It comes after the quest "Mary had a Little Lamb". The quest text explains that a Market gives you a villager who can sell you pretty much anything for emeralds, and that it's usually just 1 Emerald per item.[2]
CobbleWorkers & Farming
In the CobbleWorkers & Farming chapter, "Vanilla Mobs" quest also asks for a Market. It comes after the quest "Cobble Workers and Poke Farming". The quest text frames the Market as the place where you buy passive mobs back, and it says they come at a price.[3]
Suggested order
The two quests sit in separate chapters and each has its own prerequisite, so the sources don't say which one you should do first. You can follow whichever chapter you reach first. Each unlocks after its own preceding quest.[2][3]
