Ars Technica is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 2.7.6. A Create-centered addon mod for Ars Nouveau (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Ars Technica?

1 part

Ars Technica is an addon mod that comes bundled with the pack. This pack ships version 2.7.6, built for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]

The sources I have don't describe what the mod does in general, who it's aimed at, or how its own progression works. I'm not going to guess at that, so check the mod's own pages if you want the full feature list.[1]

Where you meet it in the pack

What the pack's quest book does confirm is one use of the mod: the Mark of Technomancy. It's a required task item in the Legendaries quest "Magearna" quest, which is the Magearna quest.[2]

Magearna can't be found in the wild, so you build it. You charge a Soul-Heart Mechanism by defeating 50 Pokémon in battle within 10 blocks of it. Then you raise Magearna's body around it on a Summoning Ritual Altar with one of your own Volcanion present. To finish, you activate the altar with the Mark of Technomancy, then an Enchanted Soul.[2]

Tip: The quest comes after The Summoning Altar and Volcanion in the Legendaries chapter. Get those done first so you have the altar and your Volcanion ready.[2]

Unverified The sources don't show Ars Technica on the ATM Star path, and they give no details on how the Mark of Technomancy is obtained or crafted in this pack.

How do you get started with Ars Technica?

5 parts

Ars Technica sits where Create machinery meets Ars Nouveau spellcraft, so you'll be working with both mods. The Calibrated Precision Mechanism is used by the Source Motor, the Spy Monocle and the Mark of Technomancy, so the order below starts with it.[3][4]

First: the Calibrated Precision Mechanism

Your first target is the Calibrated Precision Mechanism. It is made at an Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus rather than a crafting table. The mod also has an advancement for acquiring one. Make it first because the next items in this list need it.[3][4]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_technica:calibrated_precision_mechanism

Next: the Source Motor

Then craft the Source Motor. It is a normal crafting table recipe that takes your new mechanism, and it has its own advancement too.[3][4]

Then: the Mark of Technomancy

The Mark of Technomancy is also made at the Enchanting Apparatus, and it needs the Calibrated Precision Mechanism as well. You'll want it if you're chasing a legendary Pokémon, because the Magearna quest uses it to activate the Summoning Ritual Altar.[2][3]

Recipe id: ars_technica:mark_of_technomancy

The quest is "Magearna" quest in the Legendaries chapter. In the quest book it comes after The Summoning Altar and Volcanion.[2]

After that: your first glyphs

Ars Technica adds spell glyphs that process item entities Create-style. Glyph Press flattens item entities into their pressed variants. Glyph Whirl creates a whirlwind that centrifuges item entities, and you combine it with water, flare, smelt or hex to choose the kind of processing.[3][4]

Tip: Some glyph recipes differ from the mod's defaults. The pack changed the recipes for Glyph Obliterate and Glyph Pack, so check the recipe on this site before you gather materials.[3]

Save the armor for later

The Artificer, Machinaguard and Technomancer armor sets are upgrades of Ars Nouveau armor, and the pack changed their recipes. Here they use a Mark of Mastery from Ars Elemental, where the mod's default recipes use the Mark of Technomancy. Each set reduces damage from Create machinery and increases the speed of nearby schematic cannons. Here is the pack's recipe for the Technomancer's Boots as an example.[3][4]

How does Ars Technica work?

6 parts

Ars Technica describes itself as the intersection of Create machinery and Ars Nouveau spellcraft. Most of its processing isn't done by big machines. It's done by spell glyphs that act on item entities lying in the world. The mod also adds a few blocks, like the Source Motor, the Precise Relay and a turret.[4]

Glyphs that process items

Many glyphs stand in for a Create machine, and their descriptions name the Create recipe type they use. Carve uses Cutting, Obliterate uses Crushing Wheels, Pack uses Pack and Polish uses Polish. Each glyph has its own augments, so here is what each one does.[4]

  • Whirl creates a whirlwind that centrifuges item entities. Combine it with Conjure Water for Washing (Splashing), Flare for Smoking, Hex for Haunting or Smelt for Smelting. AOE increases the size and range of the items processed, and Extend Time increases the duration.[4]
  • Glyph Obliterate hits foes with an arcane hammer. Add Sensitive and it processes item entities instead of destroying them. Amplify increases the size and damage of the hammer. Fortune increases the chance of extra items from crushing recipes, with diminishing returns.[3][4]
  • Press flattens item entities into their pressed variants, and AOE increases how many it processes. Add Extract to use Compact recipes instead, which pick up nearby fluids. Add Smelt on top of that for heated Compact recipes, or Superheat for super-heated ones. Sensitive switches to Packing (2x2/3x3 same-item crafting) instead of Press or Compact.[4]
  • Fuse slams item entities together and picks up fluids from nearby fluid containers. Combine it with Smelt for heated mixing, or with Superheat for super-heated mixing. AOE increases the amount of items processed.[4]
  • Pack condenses identical item entities into 2x2 recipes. Amplify changes the recipe grid to 3x3 and Dampen changes it to 1x1. AOE increases the area where item entities are collected.[4]
  • Glyph Carve cuts identical item entities into stairs, and only works on stone and wood. Amplify changes the recipe to walls and Dampen changes it to slabs. AOE increases the area where item entities are collected.[3][4]
  • Polish refines item entities into their polished variants. AOE increases the amount of item entities processed.[4]

The pack changed the recipe for the Obliterate glyph compared with the mod's own version. This is the in-pack recipe:[3]

Glyph ObliterateChanged by the pack

Glyph (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_technica:glyph_obliterate

Moving and using items

  • Insert puts item entities into nearby containers within a medium radius of where the spell activates. Add Split to spread the items evenly across all valid containers.[4]
  • Glyph Apply uses the item in your offhand to do Manual Item Application or Deploy on blocks or items. Non-player casters use adjacent inventories instead of an offhand. AOE increases how many items can be applied and the area of blocks affected, and Pierce increases the depth when targeting blocks.[3][4]
  • Telefeast consumes the first edible or potion, or some amount of liquid, in the container or tank you cast it on. Sensitive makes it try to 'use' items that aren't food or drink, such as experience gems. Pierce forwards the consumable in a magic bubble.[4]

Source Motor

The Source Motor converts Source into rotational force, so it's your bridge from Ars Nouveau power to Create kinetics. Its in-game Ponder scene covers the setup.[4]

  1. Place the motor with a Source Jar nearby, because it has to be supplied from one.[4]
  2. Adjust the RPM on the sides of the motor.[4]
  3. Right-click elsewhere on the motor to adjust the SU-to-RPM ratio.[4]
Tip: Changing the SU-to-RPM ratio also changes how much Source the motor needs, so check your Source supply after you adjust it.[4]

Focus of Transmutation

The Focus of Transmutation augments your spells with Luck and improves various glyphs. Hold Shift on the tooltip to see these bonuses:[4]

  • +1 Luck Augment per glyph in your spell.[4]
  • 2x chance-based item outputs from Crush, Obliterate and Whirl.[4]
  • 2x damage dealt by Obliterate.[4]
  • 2x items processed by Press and Polish.[4]
  • 2x speed for Press, Polish and Whirl.[4]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default. This is the in-pack version:[3]

Focus of TransmutationChanged by the pack

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_technica:transmutation_focus

The Transmutation Infused Turret casts spells infused with the focus, and it costs more Source than a normal turret.[4]

Calibrated Precision Mechanism

The Calibrated Precision Mechanism is made at the Enchanting Apparatus. Other gear in the mod builds on it, including the Focus of Transmutation, the Spy Monocle, the Mark of Technomancy and the Pressure thread. Here is the mechanism's own in-pack recipe:[3]

Armor sets

The Artificer, Machinaguard and Technomancer sets all reduce damage from Create machinery and increase the speed of nearby schematic cannons. The pack changed the upgrade recipes for the Artificer's Cap and Artificer's Pants from the mod's defaults. These are the in-pack versions:[3][4]

Unverified The Superheat description says it works 'if enabled', and the turret's extra Source cost is shown only as a multiplier placeholder. This pack has no config for the mod, so whether Superheat is switched on and the turret's exact multiplier are both unconfirmed.

How do you progress through Ars Technica?

6 parts

Ars Technica bridges Ars Nouveau magic and Create machinery. In this pack, the progression is a ladder of gadgets, glyphs and armor upgrades. Several of the mod's items are built from one component, the Calibrated Precision Mechanism, so that is where you start.[3]

The Calibrated Precision Mechanism

You make this at an Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus. It feeds into the Mark of Technomancy, the Source Motor, the Spy Monocle, the Pressure thread and the Focus of Transmutation, so it's worth making a few early.[3]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_technica:calibrated_precision_mechanism

The Mark and the machines

The Mark of Technomancy is also crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus. The pack's quest book asks for it in the Magearna quest "Magearna" quest in the Legendaries chapter.[2][3]

Armor sets

Each Ars Technica armor set is an upgrade of an Ars Nouveau set, and the pack changed every one of these upgrade recipes.[3]

Watch out: In the mod's default recipes, these upgrades use the Mark of Technomancy. In this pack they use a Mark of Mastery (Mark of Mastery) instead. Don't stockpile Marks of Technomancy for armor. Save them for the Magearna quest.[2][3]

Quest use: Magearna

The Magearna quest sits in the Legendaries chapter and comes after The Summoning Altar and Volcanion. First you charge a Soul-Heart Mechanism by defeating 50 Pokémon in battle within 10 blocks of it. Then you build Magearna's body around it on a Summoning Ritual Altar, with one of your own Volcanion present. You activate the altar with the Mark of Technomancy, then an Enchanted Soul.[2]

How does Ars Technica work with other mods?

4 parts

Ars Technica ties Ars Nouveau and Create together, and the pack's recipes show it. Most of the crossovers are crafting steps where a Create item goes into a source-magic recipe. One Cobblemon legendary quest also depends on it.[2][3]

Create items in Ars Technica recipes

The key crossover item is the Calibrated Precision Mechanism. It is made at the enchanting apparatus from Create's Precision Mechanism, a Source Gem and an amethyst shard. Several other Ars Technica recipes then build on it.[3]

Armor upgrades and Ars Elemental

Ars Technica's armor sets are upgrades of Ars Nouveau armor. Sorcerer pieces become Artificer pieces, Arcanist pieces become Technomancer pieces, and Battlemage pieces become Machinaguard pieces. The helmet-slot upgrades also need Create's Engineer's Goggles, and every upgrade needs a brass ingot and a netherite ingot.[3]

Here the pack makes a notable change. Each armor upgrade recipe is marked as changed by the pack and asks for the Mark of Mastery from Ars Elemental. The mod's original versions, which ask for the Mark of Technomancy instead, are listed separately as mod recipes.[3]

Artificer's CapChanged by the pack

Experience gems and Create Enchantment Industry

The Giant Experience Gem and Ars Nouveau's Greater Experience Gem can be swapped for each other, one gem for one gem, in shapeless crafting. Create Enchantment Industry can grind Giant and Gargantuan gems into Liquid Experience.[3]

Cobblemon: Magearna

The Mark of Technomancy also plays a part in the pack's Cobblemon content. The pack adds a summoning altar recipe for Magearna that uses the Mark together with an Enchanted Soul from Forbidden Arcanus. The quest "Magearna" quest walks you through it. Its description says to charge a Soul-Heart Mechanism by defeating 50 Pokémon within 10 blocks of it. You then build the body on the altar with one of your own Volcanion present, and activate the altar with the Mark and then the Soul.[2][3]

Which All the Mons quests use Ars Technica?

2 parts

In this pack, the only quest I can confirm that involves Ars Technica is "Magearna" quest, in the Legendaries chapter. It's an Alola entry, and the mod's part in it is the Mark of Technomancy.[2]

Magearna (Legendaries chapter)

This quest comes after The Summoning Altar and Volcanion, so you'll want both of those done first. The quest text explains that Magearna can't be found in the wild. You have to build it.[2]

The task list asks for the Mark of Technomancy, an Enchanted Soul and a Soul Heart Mechanism. It also lists silver blocks, an Uru metal block and a gold block, plus one custom task.[2]

How the quest plays out

  1. Charge a Soul Heart Mechanism out in the open by defeating 50 Pokémon in battle within 10 blocks of it.[2]
  2. Raise Magearna's automaton body around the charged Soul-Heart on a Summoning Ritual Altar.[2]
  3. Make sure one of your own Volcanion is present to bear witness.[2]
  4. Activate the altar with a Mark of Technomancy, then an Enchanted Soul to breathe life into the machine.[2]
Tip: Start charging the Soul-Heart Mechanism early. It needs 50 battles near it, which is the slowest part of this quest.[2]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any other quest chapters that use Ars Technica, or how to craft the Mark of Technomancy, from the available quest data.
