What is FancyMenu?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu is a menu customization mod. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple, modern look to animated or dynamic elements. This pack includes version 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been in the pack since 4.11 or earlier.[1][2]

What it does

  • Visual customization: you change how Minecraft's menus look and build your own interface style.[1]
  • Built-in editor: you tweak layouts right in the game, and it is meant to work for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
  • Animated images: GIF and APNG formats are supported, so your menus can move.[1]
  • Dynamic designs: advanced users can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders.[1]

Who it is for

This one is for players who want to personalize the look of their game, not for gameplay progression. It works as a pure client-side mod, so you don't need it on a server for your own menus to change. If you run a server, you can optionally install it there too, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

If you're new to it, the official documentation walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization. The community also shares full FancyMenu setups as layout templates, which is a handy way to get a finished look without building it all yourself.[1]

Addons and compatibility

FancyMenu has addons. Drippy Loading Screen customizes the game's loading screen, and SpiffyHUD customizes the in-game HUD, such as the hotbar. Fancy Entity Renderer is an optional dependency that is needed to display player entities in menus.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't confirm whether any of these addons are installed in this pack, so check your own mod list before relying on them.

Tip: If you hit crashes or other odd issues after customizing, check FancyMenu's incompatibility list in its documentation for mod conflicts.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Unverified The sources give no recipes, items, config options or quests for this mod in this pack, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional interface tool that doesn't affect your progression.

How do you get started with FancyMenu?

3 parts

Good news: there is nothing to craft or farm to get started with FancyMenu. It is a menu customization mod, so you set it up by editing menus rather than by building anything in your world. The mod lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple modern look to animated or dynamic elements.[1]

It also works as a pure client-side mod, so you do not need it on a server. If a server does install it, admins can remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

What to know first

  • FancyMenu has a built-in editor for tweaking layouts and customizing menus, aimed at both beginners and experienced users.[1]
  • It supports animated image formats such as GIF and APNG, and advanced users can use conditional statements (loading requirements), variables and placeholders for dynamic menus.[1]
  • FancyMenu includes actions such as one that closes the active screen (it opens the title screen if you are not in a world), and another that leaves a world or server and sets a screen to open afterwards.[3]

The pack's editor themes

The pack ships UI themes for the editor interface itself, including a dark one (identifier identifier) and a light one (identifier identifier). They only change how the editor looks, not your in-game menus.[4][5]

Both themes have allow_animations and allow_blur turned on (the light theme has the same two options, set to true as well). Corner rounding is 6 in both themes, set by interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius.[4][5]

Unverified The pack has more themes: purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast. Their values live in the matching files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes/, and the sources here do not show them.

Audio elements

The file lists two Audio elements, each with a volume of 1. FancyMenu's volume action takes a value between 0.0 (0%) and 1.0 (100%), so both entries are at full volume.[3][4][5][6]

Watch out: File actions such as copy, create and delete only work inside the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance directory. Be careful with the delete action: adding '*' to a path deletes every file directly inside that folder.[3]

How does FancyMenu work?

4 parts

FancyMenu customizes Minecraft's menus, so this section is about screens, layouts, actions and editor themes, as far as the sources explain them.[1]

Layouts and the editor

You customize menus visually with the built-in editor. For dynamic menus it offers conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders. It also supports animated image formats like GIF and APNG.[1]

You can run it as a pure client-side mod. It can also be installed server-side as an optional extra, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

Actions

Buttons and other menu pieces run actions. Several of them behave in ways worth knowing before you build a script.[3]

  • Delay Gate block: it does not schedule anything. On the first reach it starts a one-time timer and skips its contained actions. The timer is only checked when the script reaches the same block again. The first reach at or after expiry opens the gate and runs the actions, and every later reach runs them immediately. The delay is in milliseconds, and a delay of 0 or less opens the gate immediately.[3]
  • Execute Later block: every time the script reaches it, it schedules a new execution of its contained actions on the main thread after the delay (in milliseconds). Use it for delayed actions in scripts that only run once, and pick it over the Delay Gate when every reach should schedule a fresh delayed run.[3]
  • File actions (copy, move, delete, create, download, extract ZIP, open): they only work inside the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance directory, for safety reasons. Paths starting with the '.minecraft/' prefix reach the default .minecraft directory.[3]
  • Copy, move and delete accept a '*' at the end of the path to affect every file directly inside a folder. The wildcard ignores sub-directories. For copy and move the destination must be a directory, and delete leaves the folder itself intact.[3]
  • Download and extract ZIP run asynchronously, so the game keeps running while they work. For downloads you give a folder rather than a file name, and FancyMenu takes the saved file name from the HTTP response headers or the URL. Extraction triggers the 'On ZIP Extracted via Action' listener when it finishes.[3]
  • Mimic Button: it needs the widget locator of the button. Right-click the button in the editor, or enable the Debug Overlay outside the editor and right-click the button, to get it.[3]
  • Execute command as integrated server: it ignores permissions and the cheats setting, but does nothing on multiplayer or when the world is opened to LAN.[3]
  • Manage Resource Pack: it enables, disables or toggles a pack by matching its display name exactly as shown in the Resource Packs screen. You can skip the automatic reload and trigger it later.[3]

Audio elements

Audio elements are controlled by their identifier. Actions exist to toggle play and pause, skip to the next or previous track in the playlist, and set the volume as a value between 0.0 (0%) and 1.0 (100%).[3]

The pack ships with audio element entries, each with a volume of 1 and an element identifier.[6]

Editor themes

FancyMenu's own interface is themed through files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes. Each theme has an identifier and a display name, switches for allow_animations and allow_blur, and a long list of colors. The pack includes dark, light, pumpkin_soup and purple_void themes with full values. In all four, animations and blur are enabled and both corner rounding radii are 6.[4][5][7][8]

The colors cover the action script view as well. In the dark theme, each block type has its own background and hover color, for example actions_entry_background_color_if.hex, actions_entry_background_color_while.hex and actions_entry_background_color_execute_later.hex, so you can tell blocks apart at a glance. The purple_void theme gives every block type the same background color and the same hover color instead.[4][7]

Unverified The pack also has cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast themes. Their values live in the matching files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes, and the sources here do not show them.

How do you progress through FancyMenu?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The only material the sources give for it is its in-game guide, and that is a credits page rather than a progression guide. It names Keksuccino as lead developer and also lists Patreon supporters and alpha and beta testers.[9]

The same page says FancyMenu is copyright 2020-2026 Keksuccino and licensed under DSMSLv3. It also credits the default skin and items of its Buddy helper to masocarai, and Buddy's default GUI to Kumo.[9]

Unverified Whether the pack's quest book mentions FancyMenu, and whether it is unlocked or limited through any recipe, is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters and recipe lists are where that would be told, so check them in-game if you want to be sure.

Which FancyMenu config options matter?

2 parts

FancyMenu is a client-side menu customizer, so the pack's config folder doesn't have the usual gameplay toggles. What it does ship is a set of UI themes (the look of FancyMenu's own editor windows) and a small audio file. Here is exactly what the pack sets.[1][10]

UI themes

The pack includes four theme files: cherry_blossom, cozy_campfire, dark and dark_high_contrast. Each one sets the same kinds of options, mostly colors, plus animation, blur and corner rounding.[4][10][11][12]

The options you are most likely to want to change are the animation and blur toggles. In cherry_blossom, cozy_campfire and dark, both are switched on. The dark_high_contrast theme is the exception, with both switched off.[4][10][11][12]

Corner rounding differs between themes too. Cherry Blossom and Cozy Campfire set both interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius to 6, and their Cozy Campfire counterparts are also 6. Dark High Contrast sets both radii to 0, so its windows and buttons have sharp square corners.[10][11][12]

Tip: If the editor looks sluggish or hard to read on your setup, Dark High Contrast is the pack's theme with animations and blur turned off. It also uses a pure black interface background (#000000FF) with white text.[12]

Audio element volume

The pack also ships , which stores volume settings for audio elements in FancyMenu layouts. Each entry in the file has its volume set to 1.[6]

Unverified The sources don't show the mod's default values, so it is unverified which of these settings the pack changed from the default. It is also unverified which theme is active by default. The Dark theme file is only partly visible, so its corner rounding and remaining colors are unconfirmed.

What changed in FancyMenu between versions?

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with FancyMenu 3.9.12, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod was already in the pack as of 1.0.0 or earlier, so it has been part of StoneBlock 4 since the early releases.[13]

FancyMenu has changelog entries for versions 3.7.0, 3.8.1, 3.9.1, 3.9.6, 3.9.8, 3.9.9, 3.9.10 and 3.9.12. Version 3.9.12 is the one you get in this pack.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]

Unverified The details of what changed in each of those FancyMenu versions weren't available when this section was written, so no individual changes are listed here. The pack's own changelogs also have no entries for this mod.
