What is FancyMenu?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
FancyMenu is a menu customization mod. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple, modern look to animated or dynamic elements. This pack includes version 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been in the pack since 4.11 or earlier.[1][2]
What it does
- Visual customization: you change how Minecraft's menus look and build your own interface style.[1]
- Built-in editor: you tweak layouts right in the game, and it is meant to work for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
- Animated images: GIF and APNG formats are supported, so your menus can move.[1]
- Dynamic designs: advanced users can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders.[1]
Who it is for
This one is for players who want to personalize the look of their game, not for gameplay progression. It works as a pure client-side mod, so you don't need it on a server for your own menus to change. If you run a server, you can optionally install it there too, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]
If you're new to it, the official documentation walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization. The community also shares full FancyMenu setups as layout templates, which is a handy way to get a finished look without building it all yourself.[1]
Addons and compatibility
FancyMenu has addons. Drippy Loading Screen customizes the game's loading screen, and SpiffyHUD customizes the in-game HUD, such as the hotbar. Fancy Entity Renderer is an optional dependency that is needed to display player entities in menus.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't confirm whether any of these addons are installed in this pack, so check your own mod list before relying on them.
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified The sources give no recipes, items, config options or quests for this mod in this pack, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional interface tool that doesn't affect your progression.
How do you get started with FancyMenu?
2 parts
FancyMenu lets you personalize Minecraft's menus in a user-friendly way. You work with it through its built-in editor and its config files, so this page covers what you can do with it and what this pack sets.[1]
Unverified The sources here show no quest and no crafting recipe for FancyMenu in this pack, so this guide cannot give you a craft-first order. Anything the quest book says about the mod is told in the quest book itself, and the sources here do not show it.
What you can do with it
- Use the built-in editor to tweak layouts and customize menus. It is meant for both beginners and experienced users.[1]
- Add animated images in GIF and APNG formats to your menus.[1]
- Go further with conditional statements (loading requirements), variables and placeholders if you want dynamic menu designs.[1]
- Run it purely client-side. A server-side install is optional and lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]
What this pack sets
The pack ships a dark and a light interface theme for FancyMenu's own editor screens, with the identifiers identifier and identifier. These control the colors and styling of the editor, not of your finished menus.[3][4]
In the dark theme, allow_animations is true and allow_blur is true. The light theme matches: allow_animations is true and allow_blur is true.[3][4]
Rounded corners are set the same way in the dark theme: interface_corner_rounding_radius is 6 and widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6. The light theme uses the same values for interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius, which is 6 as well.[3][4]
- The theme files live in config/fancymenu/ui_themes, so that is where to look if you want to change how the editor looks.[3][4]
- The pack's normalized scroll screens file sets the Embeddium video options screen to false: org.embeddedt.embeddium.impl.gui.EmbeddiumVideoOptionsScreen.[5]
How does FancyMenu work?
7 parts
FancyMenu doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It is a menu customization mod, so its "mechanics" are about layouts, actions and the editor's look. Here is what the sources confirm about how those systems work in this pack.[1]
What the mod does
FancyMenu lets you restyle Minecraft's menus through a built-in editor. It can run purely client-side. If you also install it on a server, admins can remotely open GUIs for players who have it installed client-side.[1]
For more advanced menus it supports conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders. It also handles animated image formats such as GIF and APNG.[1]
Actions and action scripts
Buttons and other elements run actions. The mod's action descriptions list actions for opening and closing screens, joining worlds and servers, controlling Audio elements, enabling or disabling layouts, and mimicking button clicks or keybinds.[6]
Scripts can be built from blocks. The theme files give separate colors to action, delay, execute later, folder, if, else if, else, while and generic block entries, so those are the entry types you see in the action editor.[3][4]
Delay Gate vs Execute Later
These blocks sound similar but behave differently. In the mod's description, a Delay Gate starts a one-time timer the first time the script reaches it and skips its contained actions. The rest of the script carries on immediately. It schedules nothing. The timer is only checked when the script reaches that same block again, and only the first reach at or after expiry opens the gate. After that, every reach runs the contained actions immediately.[6]
The Delay Gate description says delay time is in milliseconds. A resolved delay of 0 or less, including invalid values, opens the gate immediately. The gate only resets when that action-script instance is reconstructed or replaced.[6]
Execute Later is the one to use when every reach should schedule a fresh delayed run. Each time the script reaches the block, it schedules a new execution on the main thread after the delay, also in milliseconds. It is handy for delayed actions in scripts that only run once.[6]
File actions
According to the action descriptions, the copy, create, delete, move, download, extract ZIP and open file actions only work inside the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance directory. This is a safety limit. Start a path with the '.minecraft/' prefix to reach the default .minecraft directory.[6]
- The action descriptions say copy, move and delete accept a trailing '*' to act on every file directly inside a folder. The wildcard ignores sub-directories.[6]
- Per the descriptions, with copy and move the wildcard requires the destination to be a directory. With delete, the folder itself is left intact.[6]
- The Download File description says it saves to the folder you give it and works out the file name from the HTTP response headers or the URL. It downloads asynchronously, so the game keeps running.[6]
- The Extract ZIP description says it also runs asynchronously and triggers the 'On ZIP Extracted via Action' listener when it finishes.[6]
Mimicking buttons
The mimic button action's description says you need the widget locator of the vanilla or mod button you want to click. Right-click the button in the editor to get it. Outside the editor, enable the Debug Overlay and right-click the button there.[6]
Audio element control
Actions can skip to the next track, return to the previous one, or toggle play and pause on an Audio element, all by its identifier. The volume action takes the element identifier and a volume between 0.0 and 1.0, separated by a colon.[6]
Pack configuration
The pack includes the two built-in editor themes, with identifiers "dark" and "light". In both, allow_animations and allow_blur are true, and the interface and widget corner rounding radii are 6, set by interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius. The light theme uses the same values in its own file.[3][4]
Most other theme options are color values for the editor interface, such as the layout editor grid, element borders and text editor colors. The dark and light themes define their own sets.[3][4]
The pack's scroll screen file lists the Embeddium video options screen with the value false, set in org.embeddedt.embeddium.impl.gui.EmbeddiumVideoOptionsScreen.[5]
How do you progress through FancyMenu?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
FancyMenu doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The only material the sources give for it is its in-game guide, and that is a credits page rather than a progression guide. It names Keksuccino as lead developer and also lists Patreon supporters and alpha and beta testers.[7]
The same page says FancyMenu is copyright 2020-2026 Keksuccino and licensed under DSMSLv3. It also credits the default skin and items of its Buddy helper to masocarai, and Buddy's default GUI to Kumo.[7]
Unverified Whether the pack's quest book mentions FancyMenu, and whether it is unlocked or limited through any recipe, is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters and recipe lists are where that would be told, so check them in-game if you want to be sure.
Which FancyMenu config options matter?
2 parts
FancyMenu has very few settings in this pack, and most of them are cosmetic. Here is what the pack sets, so you know where to look if you want to tweak the menus.[3][4][5]
Normalized scroll screens
The pack sets org.embeddedt.embeddium.impl.gui.EmbeddiumVideoOptionsScreen to false. That is the only screen listed in this file, and it is the Embeddium video options screen.[5]
UI themes: dark and light
The pack includes a dark and a light FancyMenu UI theme. They are identified by identifier and identifier. These files are almost entirely color values, such as the interface background and text colors, so you will rarely need to touch them unless you want a custom look.[3][4]
The non-color options are the same in the dark and light themes. Here is how the pack sets them:[3][4]
- allow_animations is true in the dark theme, and allow_animations is true in the light theme.[3][4]
- allow_blur is true in the dark theme, and allow_blur is true in the light theme.[3][4]
- interface_corner_rounding_radius is 6 in the dark theme, and interface_corner_rounding_radius is 6 in the light theme.[3][4]
- widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6 in the dark theme, and widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6 in the light theme.[3][4]
What changed in FancyMenu between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships FancyMenu 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. FancyMenu has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it is one of the long-standing mods here.[8]
The pack has no changelog entries of its own for FancyMenu, so there is no record of the pack changing this mod's behavior between releases.[8]
Unverified FancyMenu's own changelog has entries for versions 3.8.1, 3.9.0, 3.9.1, 3.9.6, 3.9.7, 3.9.9 and 3.9.12, but the individual changes in them were not available to this guide. What changed in each release is unverified, so check the mod's own changelog file for the details.
