What is FancyMenu?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
FancyMenu is a menu customization mod. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple, modern look to animated or dynamic elements. This pack includes version 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been in the pack since 4.11 or earlier.[1][2]
What it does
- Visual customization: you change how Minecraft's menus look and build your own interface style.[1]
- Built-in editor: you tweak layouts right in the game, and it is meant to work for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
- Animated images: GIF and APNG formats are supported, so your menus can move.[1]
- Dynamic designs: advanced users can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders.[1]
Who it is for
This one is for players who want to personalize the look of their game, not for gameplay progression. It works as a pure client-side mod, so you don't need it on a server for your own menus to change. If you run a server, you can optionally install it there too, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]
If you're new to it, the official documentation walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization. The community also shares full FancyMenu setups as layout templates, which is a handy way to get a finished look without building it all yourself.[1]
Addons and compatibility
FancyMenu has addons. Drippy Loading Screen customizes the game's loading screen, and SpiffyHUD customizes the in-game HUD, such as the hotbar. Fancy Entity Renderer is an optional dependency that is needed to display player entities in menus.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't confirm whether any of these addons are installed in this pack, so check your own mod list before relying on them.
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified The sources give no recipes, items, config options or quests for this mod in this pack, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional interface tool that doesn't affect your progression.
How do you get started with FancyMenu?
3 parts
FancyMenu is a bit different from most mods in a modded pack. It doesn't add machines or ores. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, so there's nothing to craft before you start.[1]
Unverified The sources here show no quests and no crafting recipes for this mod, so there is no first-items order to follow.
What you actually do first
- Know what the mod is for. It customizes menus visually, and it has a built-in editor for tweaking layouts, which suits beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
- Remember it works client-side. You don't need it installed on a server to use it, and an optional server-side install lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have it on their client.[1]
- Read the official documentation when you want to go further. It walks through everything from the basics to advanced customization.[1]
- If you want ready-made looks, community layout templates with download links are shared in the layout templates channel of the official Discord server.[1]
What this pack sets
The pack ships its own FancyMenu config files. In title_screen the pack sets title_screen to false.[3]
The editor interface has themes, and the pack includes a dark one and a light one. The dark theme has the identifier identifier and the light theme has identifier. In both themes, animations and blur are switched on: see allow_animations and allow_blur for the dark theme, and allow_animations and allow_blur for the light one, all set to true.[4][5]
The corner rounding is the same in both themes. In the dark theme, interface_corner_rounding_radius is 6 and widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6. In the light theme, interface_corner_rounding_radius is 6 and widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6.[4][5]
Unverified More theme files exist in the pack: purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast, all in config/fancymenu/ui_themes/. The sources here do not show their values, so check those files for the details.
A tip for scripting actions
How does FancyMenu work?
6 parts
FancyMenu is a menu customization mod, so it has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to manage. In this pack, the core mechanics are how the editor, its actions and its themes behave, and that is what this section covers.[1]
Client side and server side
You can run FancyMenu as a pure client-side mod. Installing it on the server is optional, and it lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]
Layouts and dynamic menus
Menus are changed visually in the built-in editor. For more advanced setups you can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders to make a menu dynamic. FancyMenu also supports animated image formats like GIF and APNG.[1]
Actions you can run
Buttons and scripts run actions. The language file describes many of them. Here are the ones that behave in ways worth knowing before you build anything.[6]
- Delay Gate block: the first time a script reaches it, it starts a one-time timer and skips its contained actions, while the rest of the script carries on immediately. The timer is only checked when the script reaches that same block again. Reaches before expiry skip the contained actions, and the first reach at or after expiry runs them. Every later reach runs them immediately. The delay is in milliseconds, and a resolved delay of 0 or less opens the gate immediately.[6]
- Execute Later block: every time the script reaches it, it schedules a new delayed execution of its contained actions on the main thread. The delay is in milliseconds. Use this instead of the Delay Gate when every reach should schedule a fresh delayed run.[6]
- Audio actions: you can skip to the next or previous track, toggle play and pause, or set an Audio element's volume by its identifier. The volume is a value between 0.0 and 1.0.[6]
- Mimic Button: it runs the click action of a vanilla or mod button. You need that button's widget locator, which you get by right-clicking the button in the editor, or with the Debug Overlay enabled outside the editor.[6]
File actions
The copy, move, delete, create, download, extract ZIP and open file actions only work inside the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance. Starting a path with the '.minecraft/' prefix lets you reach the default .minecraft directory too.[6]
For copy, move and delete you can append '*' to the path to affect every file directly inside a folder. The wildcard ignores sub-directories. For copy and move it also requires the destination to be a directory, and for delete it leaves the folder itself in place. Downloads and ZIP extraction run asynchronously, so the game keeps running while they work.[6]
Themes in this pack
The editor's interface colours come from theme files. This pack ships dark, light, purple_void and pumpkin_soup, and each one sets allow_animations and allow_blur to true. The dark, light, purple_void and pumpkin_soup files all set the interface and widget corner rounding radius to 6.[4][5][7][8]
The theme keys also show which kinds of entry the action script editor has. These are action, delay, else, else if, execute later, folder, generic block, if and while, and each has its own background colour and hover colour. In the dark theme, for example, the delay entry background is #524C24FF and the if entry background is #263F55FF. The purple_void theme uses the same two dark shades, #141418FF and #1C1C20FF on hover, for every entry type.[4][7]
Unverified The pack also has cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast themes. Their values are set in the matching files under config/fancymenu/ui_themes/, and the sources here do not show them.
Scrolling
The pack sets title_screen to false.[3]
How do you progress through FancyMenu?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
FancyMenu doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The only material the sources give for it is its in-game guide, and that is a credits page rather than a progression guide. It names Keksuccino as lead developer and also lists Patreon supporters and alpha and beta testers.[9]
The same page says FancyMenu is copyright 2020-2026 Keksuccino and licensed under DSMSLv3. It also credits the default skin and items of its Buddy helper to masocarai, and Buddy's default GUI to Kumo.[9]
Unverified Whether the pack's quest book mentions FancyMenu, and whether it is unlocked or limited through any recipe, is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters and recipe lists are where that would be told, so check them in-game if you want to be sure.
Which FancyMenu config options matter?
3 parts
FancyMenu has very little in the pack config you need to touch. There are two things to know: one setting for how scrolling works on the title screen, and the set of built-in interface themes for the editor.[3][4]
Title screen scrolling
In title_screen the pack sets title_screen to false.[3]
Unverified The sources do not explain exactly what this setting changes, so check the FancyMenu documentation before editing it.
UI themes
The pack ships these theme files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes: dark, light, purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire and spooky_season. Three more exist (cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast), but their values were not available to me. If you want a detail from one of those, it is set in that theme's own file.[4][5][7][8][10][11]
Every theme I could read sets the same behaviour options: allow_animations and allow_blur are both true, and both corner rounding options, interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius, are 6. The other themes use the same keys with the same values.[4][5][7][8][10][11]
What actually differs between themes
Apart from those shared settings, the themes differ in colours. For example, ui_interface_background_color.hex is #212121FF in dark and #F7F8FAFF in light.[4][5]
The purple_void theme uses #0A0A0CFF for the same key, and its info_color.hex is #AA60FFFF. The dark, light, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire and spooky_season themes all use #0381FFFF for info_color.[4][5][7][8][10][11]
What changed in FancyMenu between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships FancyMenu 3.9.12, the Forge build for Minecraft 1.20.1. It was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.49.0 or earlier, so it has been in the pack for a while.[12]
Unverified The notable changes in FancyMenu 3.9.0, 3.9.3, 3.9.8, 3.9.9, 3.9.10 and 3.9.12 can't be confirmed here, because the changelog material I was given has no entries, only a pointer to the mod's changelog. The pack changelogs also have no entries for this mod, so I can't say what changed between pack releases.
