FancyMenu is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 3.9.14. Customize Minecraft's menus with ease! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is FancyMenu?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu is a menu customization mod. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple, modern look to animated or dynamic elements. This pack includes version 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been in the pack since 4.11 or earlier.[1][2]

What it does

  • Visual customization: you change how Minecraft's menus look and build your own interface style.[1]
  • Built-in editor: you tweak layouts right in the game, and it is meant to work for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
  • Animated images: GIF and APNG formats are supported, so your menus can move.[1]
  • Dynamic designs: advanced users can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders.[1]

Who it is for

This one is for players who want to personalize the look of their game, not for gameplay progression. It works as a pure client-side mod, so you don't need it on a server for your own menus to change. If you run a server, you can optionally install it there too, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

If you're new to it, the official documentation walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization. The community also shares full FancyMenu setups as layout templates, which is a handy way to get a finished look without building it all yourself.[1]

Addons and compatibility

FancyMenu has addons. Drippy Loading Screen customizes the game's loading screen, and SpiffyHUD customizes the in-game HUD, such as the hotbar. Fancy Entity Renderer is an optional dependency that is needed to display player entities in menus.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't confirm whether any of these addons are installed in this pack, so check your own mod list before relying on them.

Tip: If you hit crashes or other odd issues after customizing, check FancyMenu's incompatibility list in its documentation for mod conflicts.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Unverified The sources give no recipes, items, config options or quests for this mod in this pack, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional interface tool that doesn't affect your progression.

How do you get started with FancyMenu?

3 parts

FancyMenu is a menu customization mod, so your first steps happen in its editor rather than at a crafting table. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple modern look to animated or dynamic elements.[1]

Unverified The sources here show no recipe for this mod's items and no quest for it, so there is no craft-this-first order to give. Check the pack's quest book yourself if you expect a chapter.

What you are working with

  • It has a built-in editor for tweaking layouts and customizing menus, for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
  • It works as a pure client-side mod, so you do not need it on a server. It can optionally be installed server-side so admins can remotely open GUIs for players who have it client-side.[1]
  • It supports animated image formats like GIF and APNG.[1]
  • Advanced users can add loading requirements (conditional statements), variables and placeholders for more dynamic menus.[1]

The editor themes in this pack

The editor interface itself is themed. This pack ships a theme with the identifier identifier set to "dark" and another set to "light" in identifier. Both use a corner rounding radius of 6, set through interface_corner_rounding_radius and interface_corner_rounding_radius.[3][4]

Both themes have allow_animations and allow_blur set to true, and the light theme matches with allow_animations and allow_blur.[3][4]

If you want to see how different they look, the main editor background is "#212121FF" in the dark theme (ui_interface_background_color.hex) and "#F7F8FAFF" in the light theme (ui_interface_background_color.hex).[3][4]

Unverified The pack has more theme files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes/ (purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast). The sources here do not show their values, so look in those files for them.

Audio element controller

The pack also includes , which holds a single entry with a volume of 1 and an element identifier. Volume for an Audio element is a value between 0.0 (0%) and 1.0 (100%), so 1 means full volume.[5][6]

Tip: For a full walkthrough of the editor, the mod's project page points to its official documentation and its Discord server. Those are the places to go once you want to build your own layouts.[1]

How does FancyMenu work?

7 parts

FancyMenu is a menu customization mod, not a machine mod. It has no power, fluid or item handling and no multiblocks, so there is nothing to wire up or automate in the usual modded sense. The systems that matter here are how it lets you build menus and script what they do, and that is what this section covers.[1]

Where it runs

You can use FancyMenu purely on the client, with nothing installed on the server. It can also be installed server-side as an optional extra, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

Menus are built in the built-in editor. For more dynamic designs, the mod supports conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders. Animated image formats such as GIF and APNG are supported too.[1]

Action scripts

Buttons and other elements run actions, and actions can be grouped into blocks inside a script. The Delay Gate and Execute Later blocks look similar but behave very differently, so it is worth knowing which one you want.[5]

  • Delay Gate: on the first reach it starts a one-time timer and skips its contained actions, while the rest of the script carries on. The timer is only checked when the script reaches the same block again. Reaches before it expires skip the actions, and the first reach after expiry opens the gate. After that, every reach runs them immediately. The delay is in milliseconds, and a delay of 0 or less (including invalid values) opens the gate at once. It resets only when that action-script instance is rebuilt or replaced.[5]
  • Execute Later: every time the script reaches this block, it schedules a fresh execution of its contained actions on the main thread after the delay, also in milliseconds. This is the one to use for delayed actions in scripts that only run once.[5]
Tip: If you want a delay on every pass through a script, pick Execute Later. The Delay Gate is a one-shot gate, not a scheduler.[5]

Mimicking buttons and keybinds

The Mimic Button action triggers the click action of a vanilla or mod button. For that you need the button's widget locator. Right-click the button in the editor to get it, or enable the Debug Overlay outside the editor and right-click the button there. A separate action runs a chosen Minecraft keybind as if it had been pressed, and it can hold the key for a set number of milliseconds.[5]

File actions

Actions that create, copy, move, delete, download or extract files are limited to the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance, for safety. Starting a path with the '.minecraft/' prefix reaches the default .minecraft directory.[5]

  • Copy, move and delete accept a trailing '*' on the path to act on every file directly inside a folder. Sub-directories are ignored. For copy and move the destination must be a directory, and for delete the folder itself stays intact.[5]
  • Download File works in the background, so the game does not freeze. You give it a download folder, and FancyMenu derives the file name from the HTTP response headers or the URL.[5]
  • Extract ZIP File also runs asynchronously and triggers the 'On ZIP Extracted via Action' listener when it finishes. The target path includes the folder name the content is extracted into, so no extra folder named after the ZIP is created.[5]

Audio control

Audio elements are controlled by actions that take the element's identifier: toggle play and pause, skip to the next track, return to the previous track, and set the volume. Volume is a value from 0.0 to 1.0, entered as the element identifier and the volume separated by a colon.[5]

This pack ships with a single stored entry for one audio element, with its volume set to 1.[6]

Remote server connections

One action opens a remote server connection by URL without sending any payload yet. The connection stays active in the background so later remote send actions can use it. You can close one connection by its request ID, or close every connection FancyMenu has opened.[5]

UI themes in this pack

The editor's own look is controlled by theme files. This pack includes dark, light, purple_void and pumpkin_soup, and each one sets allow_animations and allow_blur to true, with a corner rounding radius of 6 for both the interface and the widgets.[3][4][7][8]

The dark theme gives each action block type its own background colour, such as separate colours for if, else, while, delay, execute later and folder entries. The purple_void theme gives its action, delay, else, else if, if, while, execute later, folder and generic block entries the same colour, #141418FF, with #1C1C20FF on hover.[3][7]

Unverified The pack also has cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast themes. Their values are set in config/fancymenu/ui_themes/ in the files of the same names, and the sources here do not show them.

How do you progress through FancyMenu?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The only material the sources give for it is its in-game guide, and that is a credits page rather than a progression guide. It names Keksuccino as lead developer and also lists Patreon supporters and alpha and beta testers.[9]

The same page says FancyMenu is copyright 2020-2026 Keksuccino and licensed under DSMSLv3. It also credits the default skin and items of its Buddy helper to masocarai, and Buddy's default GUI to Kumo.[9]

Unverified Whether the pack's quest book mentions FancyMenu, and whether it is unlocked or limited through any recipe, is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters and recipe lists are where that would be told, so check them in-game if you want to be sure.

Which FancyMenu config options matter?

2 parts

FancyMenu is the mod that lets you restyle menus and edit layouts in-game. In this pack, the config folder for it holds mostly editor and interface themes, plus one small audio file. There is nothing to tweak for gameplay here, and the sources do not show any mod default to compare against, so everything below is simply how the pack ships these files.[1][3][6]

UI themes

The pack ships a set of theme files under config/fancymenu/ui_themes. Six of them are shown in the sources: dark, light, purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire and spooky_season. Each one restyles FancyMenu's own interface, such as the layout editor, text editor, action lists and input fields, using hex colors.[3][4][7][8][10][11]

If you want a different look for the editor, these are the values to change. Note that the pack's themes only restyle FancyMenu's own interface, as far as these files show, so they are cosmetic.[3][4][7][8][10][11]

Unverified The pack also has cherry_blossom.json, dark_high_contrast.json and light_high_contrast.json in config/fancymenu/ui_themes. The sources here do not show their values, so check those files directly for how they are set.

Audio element volume

holds one entry, with a volume of 1 for a single audio element identifier. That is the only audio setting the pack ships for FancyMenu in the sources here.[6]

What changed in FancyMenu between versions?

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships FancyMenu version 3.9.14. The mod was first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been in the pack for a while.[12]

Unverified The sources here do not show any pack changelog entries for FancyMenu, and the text of the mod's own 3.9.14 changelog is not included either. That means I can't tell you what changed between releases. The mod's own changelog file is where those details live.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as fancymenu, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
