FancyMenu is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 3.9.14. Customize Minecraft's menus with ease! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is FancyMenu?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu is a menu customization mod. It lets you restyle Minecraft's menus, from a simple, modern look to animated or dynamic elements. This pack includes version 3.9.12, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been in the pack since 4.11 or earlier.[1][2]

What it does

  • Visual customization: you change how Minecraft's menus look and build your own interface style.[1]
  • Built-in editor: you tweak layouts right in the game, and it is meant to work for beginners and experienced users alike.[1]
  • Animated images: GIF and APNG formats are supported, so your menus can move.[1]
  • Dynamic designs: advanced users can use conditional statements (called loading requirements), variables and placeholders.[1]

Who it is for

This one is for players who want to personalize the look of their game, not for gameplay progression. It works as a pure client-side mod, so you don't need it on a server for your own menus to change. If you run a server, you can optionally install it there too, which lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have FancyMenu on their client.[1]

If you're new to it, the official documentation walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization. The community also shares full FancyMenu setups as layout templates, which is a handy way to get a finished look without building it all yourself.[1]

Addons and compatibility

FancyMenu has addons. Drippy Loading Screen customizes the game's loading screen, and SpiffyHUD customizes the in-game HUD, such as the hotbar. Fancy Entity Renderer is an optional dependency that is needed to display player entities in menus.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't confirm whether any of these addons are installed in this pack, so check your own mod list before relying on them.

Tip: If you hit crashes or other odd issues after customizing, check FancyMenu's incompatibility list in its documentation for mod conflicts.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Unverified The sources give no recipes, items, config options or quests for this mod in this pack, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional interface tool that doesn't affect your progression.

How do you get started with FancyMenu?

2 parts

FancyMenu is about customizing Minecraft's menus, not about items you craft and place. So your first steps here are about the menus and the editor, not a crafting order.[1]

It works as a pure client-side mod. An optional server-side install lets admins remotely open GUIs for players who have it on their client. It also supports animated image formats like GIF and APNG, plus conditional statements, variables and placeholders if you want dynamic menus later.[1]

Where to start

  1. Open the built-in editor. It is meant for both beginners and experienced users who want to tweak layouts and customize menus.[1]
  2. Read the official documentation if you want to go beyond the basics. The mod's project page says it walks you through everything from the basics to advanced customization.[1]
  3. Look at community layout templates for ideas. The project page says the layout-templates channel on the official Discord has full FancyMenu setups made by the community, with download links.[1]

What the pack already sets up

The pack ships editor interface themes. The dark theme has identifier set to "dark", with allow_animations and allow_blur both set to true. Its widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6.[3]

The light theme matches that setup: identifier is "light", allow_animations and allow_blur are true, and widget_corner_rounding_radius is 6.[4]

The pack also has an audio controller file, . It holds a single entry with a volume of 1 and one audio element identifier.[5]

Unverified The pack has more editor themes (purple_void, pumpkin_soup, cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast). Their values live in the matching files in config/fancymenu/ui_themes, and the sources here do not show them.

Tip: If you build scripts with delays, remember that Execute Later schedules a new delayed run every time the script reaches it, and delay time is in milliseconds. The Delay Gate block works differently: it only opens once its timer has expired when the script reaches it again.[6]

How does FancyMenu work?

6 parts

FancyMenu customizes Minecraft's menus, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to wire up here. The mechanics worth knowing are how it splits between client and server, how action scripts behave, and how the editor themes are set up in this pack.[1]

Client side and server side

  • FancyMenu works as a pure client-side mod, so nothing has to be installed on the server.[1]
  • It can also be installed as an optional server-side mod. Admins can then remotely open GUIs for players who have it installed client-side.[1]
  • For dynamic menus it offers conditional statements (loading requirements), variables and placeholders. Animated image formats like GIF and APNG are supported too.[1]

How action scripts work

Buttons and layouts run actions, and actions can be grouped into blocks. Two blocks look similar but behave very differently, so pick the right one for the job.[6]

  • Delay Gate: on the first reach it starts a one-time timer and skips its contained actions, while the surrounding script continues immediately. It schedules nothing. The timer is only checked when the script reaches the same block again. Reaches before expiry skip the contents, and the first reach at or after expiry opens the gate. Every later reach runs the contents immediately.[6]
  • Delay Gate timing: the delay is in milliseconds, and a resolved delay of 0 or less (including invalid values) opens the gate immediately. The gate only resets when that action-script instance is reconstructed or replaced.[6]
  • Execute Later: every time the script reaches this block, it schedules a new execution of its contained actions on the main thread after the delay (in milliseconds). It is useful for delayed actions in scripts that only run once.[6]
Tip: If every reach of the block should trigger a fresh delayed run, use Execute Later. If you want something to open only after a waiting period has passed, use the Delay Gate.[6]

File and download actions

  • Copy, move, delete, create and extract actions only work inside the game directory, which starts at the root of the Minecraft instance directory. You can reach the default '.minecraft' directory by starting a path with the '.minecraft/' prefix.[6]
  • For copy, move and delete, appending '*' to the source or target path applies the action to every file directly inside that folder. The wildcard ignores sub-directories. Copy and move then need a directory as destination, and delete leaves the folder itself intact.[6]
  • Downloads run asynchronously in the background, so the game keeps running. You give the download folder rather than a file name, and FancyMenu derives the name from the HTTP response headers or the URL.[6]
  • Extracting a ZIP is asynchronous too, and it triggers the 'On ZIP Extracted via Action' listener when finished. The target path includes the folder name the content is extracted to, and no extra folder named like the ZIP is created.[6]

Other useful actions

  • Mimic Button clicks a vanilla or mod button for you. You need its widget locator: right-click the button in the editor, or enable the Debug Overlay outside the editor and right-click the button.[6]
  • Audio element actions toggle play and pause, skip to the next track or go back to the previous one. They also set the volume by element identifier, as a value from 0.0 to 1.0, written as the identifier and the volume separated by a colon.[6]
  • Connect to Remote Server opens a connection by URL without sending any payload yet. It stays active in the background for later remote send actions. You can close one by its request ID, or close all connections FancyMenu opened.[6]
  • Execute Command as Integrated Server runs a command in singleplayer, ignoring permissions and the cheats setting. It does nothing on multiplayer or when the world is opened to LAN.[6]

Audio element controller in this pack

The pack's file holds a single entry: one audio element identifier with its volume at full, the top of the 0.0 to 1.0 scale used by the volume action.[5][6]

Editor themes

The editor's look is driven by theme files. The pack ships dark, light, purple_void and pumpkin_soup, each with an identifier and a display name. In all four, animations and blur are switched on, and the interface and widget corner rounding radius is 6.[3][4][7][8]

Each theme sets colors for the action list entries, with separate normal and hover colors for action, delay, if, else if, else, while, execute later, folder and generic block entries. In the dark theme, a plain action entry uses actions_entry_background_color_action.hex, and the delay entry uses actions_entry_background_color_delay.hex.[3]

The purple_void theme is more uniform: every entry type shares one background color, and every hover color is a single slightly lighter shade. You can see this in actions_entry_background_color_if.hex and its hover counterpart actions_entry_background_color_if_hover.hex.[7]

Other theme colors cover the layout editor grid, element borders, text editor syntax colors, input fields, tooltips and blurred interface variants. The dark theme, for example, uses layout_editor_grid_color_normal.hex for the normal grid color.[3]

Unverified The pack also includes the themes cozy_campfire, spooky_season, cherry_blossom, dark_high_contrast and light_high_contrast. Their values are set in the matching files under config/fancymenu/ui_themes/, and the sources here do not show them.

How do you progress through FancyMenu?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FancyMenu doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The only material the sources give for it is its in-game guide, and that is a credits page rather than a progression guide. It names Keksuccino as lead developer and also lists Patreon supporters and alpha and beta testers.[9]

The same page says FancyMenu is copyright 2020-2026 Keksuccino and licensed under DSMSLv3. It also credits the default skin and items of its Buddy helper to masocarai, and Buddy's default GUI to Kumo.[9]

Unverified Whether the pack's quest book mentions FancyMenu, and whether it is unlocked or limited through any recipe, is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters and recipe lists are where that would be told, so check them in-game if you want to be sure.

Which FancyMenu config options matter?

3 parts

FancyMenu's config in this pack is mostly about the editor's look and feel. The pack ships several UI theme files, and the options you're most likely to touch are the ones that decide whether the editor uses blur, uses animations, and how round its corners are.[3][10][11][12]

Blur and animations

The Cherry Blossom and Cozy Campfire themes both have allow_animations and allow_blur set to true (the Cozy Campfire theme has the same two options in its own file). The Dark theme also has both set to true.[3][10][11]

The High Contrast Dark theme is the odd one out. In allow_animations and allow_blur the pack sets both to false. If the editor feels busy or hard to read, this is the theme to switch to.[12]

Corner rounding

Cherry Blossom and Cozy Campfire use a corner radius of 6 for both interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius. High Contrast Dark sets both to 0 in interface_corner_rounding_radius and widget_corner_rounding_radius, so you get sharp square corners.[10][11][12]

Tip: The High Contrast Dark theme turns off blur and animations and removes the rounded corners, and its colors are mostly pure white, black and orange-yellow. It's a good pick if you want the clearest, least distracting editor.[12]

Audio controller

The pack also ships , which holds a single entry with a volume of 1 for one audio element identifier.[5]

Unverified The sources don't list FancyMenu's own default values for these options, so I can't say which of the values above the pack changed from the mod default. The Dark theme file is also cut off in the sources, so its corner rounding values and remaining options are unconfirmed.

What changed in FancyMenu between versions?

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships with FancyMenu 3.9.12, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. FancyMenu was already in the pack as of 1.0.1 or earlier, so it has been part of Skies 2 from the start.[13]

Unverified The changelog sources for FancyMenu only point to the mod's public changelog file and do not include the actual entries. There are also no pack changelog entries for this mod. What changed between FancyMenu releases, and whether the pack changed any FancyMenu settings, is unverified here.
