What is Chisel Reborn?
Chisel Reborn adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks. If you like building and want more block styles than vanilla gives you, this is the mod for you.[1]
The pack ships Chisel Reborn 1.3.2, and it has been in the pack since StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier. So it's a long-standing part of the modpack, not a recent addition.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't confirm how the chisel works in this pack, which variation blocks are available, or what the recipe is. They also don't show where the mod fits in the pack's progression. Check in game before you plan a build around it.
How do you get started with Chisel Reborn?
4 parts
Chisel Reborn adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks. Getting started is mostly about making the tool that swaps between those variations, then crafting a few base blocks to try it on.[1]
Step 1: Make the Diamond Chisel
The first thing to craft is the Diamond Chisel. It has a plain in-pack crafting recipe, shown below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any diamond gem |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: chisel:diamond_chisel
The mod's tooltips describe the controls you'll use, so it's worth learning them early. The language file doesn't say which item shows which tooltip, so check each one in game.[4]
- Left-click blocks to cycle variants forward. Shift + Left-click cycles backwards.[4]
- Right-click to open the GUI. In the GUI you can set a target, so you chisel to one specific variant.[4]
- Shift + Right-click to change mode.[4]
- Ctrl + Shift + Right-click to toggle fuzzy mode.[4]
Chisel modes
The modes decide how many blocks you change per click, so you don't have to chisel a big wall one block at a time.[4]
- Single: chisel a single block.[4]
- Row: chisel a 1x3 row of blocks.[4]
- Column: chisel a 3x1 column of blocks.[4]
- Panel: chisel a 3x3 square of blocks.[4]
- Contiguous: chisel an area of alike blocks, extending 10 blocks in any direction.[4]
- Contiguous 2D: chisel an area of alike blocks, extending 10 blocks along the plane of the current side.[4]
Step 2: Craft some base blocks
Several block families have their own crafting recipes in the pack, so you can make a starting block and then chisel it into its variants. Good ones to try first are Factory Block - Dotted Rusty Plate, Fantasy Block - Brick and Antiblock Block - White.[3]
Brownstone Block - Raw is a handy one. Its tooltip says that walking on it increases your speed, so it makes a good path block.[3][4]

Step 3: Craft the Auto Chisel
The Auto Chisel also has its own in-pack recipe, so you can make it early.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any glass blocks | any glass blocks |
| any glass blocks | any redstone dust | any glass blocks |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any iron ingot |
Recipe id: chisel:auto_chisel
Unverified What the Auto Chisel does and how to set it up isn't described in the sources I have, so check it in game or in the recipe viewer before you plan around it. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Chisel Reborn work?
4 parts
Chisel Reborn is mostly about swapping blocks for their variants, so it doesn't have much in the way of machines. The sources I have cover how chiseling itself works, and that's what this section explains.[1][4]
Changing variants
The tooltips describe a simple loop. Left-click a block to cycle through its variants forward, and hold Shift while left-clicking to cycle backwards.[4]
If you want a specific result, set a target in the GUI. Chiseling then goes straight to that variant instead of stepping through the list. The tooltip says to right-click to open the GUI.[4]
Chisel modes
Shift + Right-click changes the chiseling mode. Each mode decides how many blocks change in one action.[4]
- Single: chisels one block.[4]
- Row: chisels a 1x3 row of blocks.[4]
- Column: chisels a 3x1 column of blocks.[4]
- Panel: chisels a 3x3 square of blocks.[4]
- Contiguous: chisels an area of alike blocks, extending 10 blocks in any direction.[4]
- Contiguous 2D: chisels an area of alike blocks, extending 10 blocks along the plane of the side you're targeting.[4]
Texture offset
The offset tool changes a block's texture offset. Right-click a block to cycle the offset, and Sneak + Right-click to reset it.[4]
Auto Chisel
The pack includes the Auto Chisel, and its crafting recipe is below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any glass blocks | any glass blocks |
| any glass blocks | any redstone dust | any glass blocks |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any iron ingot |
Recipe id: chisel:auto_chisel
Unverified The sources I have don't explain how the Auto Chisel works. That means its GUI, how it takes in and gives out items, and whether it uses power are all unconfirmed. The same goes for any multiblocks or fluid handling in Chisel Reborn, which I couldn't find described anywhere. Check these in-game before building automation around them.
Unverified The pack has no config files for this mod, and I found no in-jar guidebook for it. So I can't confirm any pack-specific changes to the chiseling behavior described above.
How do you progress through Chisel Reborn?
5 parts
Unverified No quests in this pack are confirmed to involve Chisel Reborn, and the mod isn't on the ATM Star quest path. So there's no quest-guided order here. The tiers below follow the in-pack recipes instead.
Chisel Reborn progression in this pack is all about crafting recipes. You step up through the tools first, then pick which decorative block families you want to unlock. Only part of the recipe list was available to me, so treat this as a guide to what's confirmed, not a complete catalogue.[3]
The chisels
Your entry point is the basic Chisel, which the pack lists as a normal shaped crafting recipe.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron ingot |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: chisel:iron_chisel
Next comes the Diamond Chisel, also a shaped crafting recipe.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any diamond gem |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: chisel:diamond_chisel
The top chisel is the iChisel (iChisel). Its recipe is shapeless and builds on the Diamond Chisel, so you can't skip the middle tier.[3]

Helper tools
Two utility items sit alongside the chisels. The Auto Chisel and the Ender Offset Wand (Ender Offset Wand) both have shaped crafting recipes in the pack.[3]

Base blocks to chisel from
Most of the mod's decorative blocks are made with shaped crafting recipes. Natural-looking stones such as Marble Block - Raw and Limestone Block - Raw are good first picks.[3]

Antiblock is another shaped crafting recipe in the pack.
Some variants are also reachable by stonecutting. For example, Andesite Block - Arrayed Bricks has a stonecutting recipe that uses a chisel carving tag.[3]

Ball O' Moss is also a shaped crafting recipe in the pack.
End-themed blocks
The voidstone line is the most advanced block family I can confirm. Voidstone Block - Bevel has two recipes, one that uses obsidian and one that uses purpur. Energised Voidstone - Raw (Energised Voidstone) has its own recipe too.[3]

Recipes the pack changed
Two recipes are marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's defaults for them. They are Lavastone Block - Cracked and Waterstone Block - Cracked. The recipe blocks below show the in-pack versions.[3]

How does Chisel Reborn work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.20.0 guide
The integration for Chisel Reborn in this pack is about upgrading chisels. Chisels from the mod are the base for upgraded chisels that need items from other mods. Every recipe involved is marked as changed by the pack, so these are the pack's own recipes and not mod defaults.[5]
Chisel upgrade paths
Each upgraded chisel is made from a specific Chisel Reborn chisel, so you don't craft it from scratch. These are the pairings:[5]
- Chisel upgrades into the Ferricore Chisel, using Ferricore Ingot.[5]
- Diamond Chisel upgrades into the Celestigem Chisel, using Celestigem.[5]
- iChisel upgrades into the Eclipse Alloy Chisel, using Eclipse Alloy Ingot.[5]
Every upgrade can be done at a smithing table or in the crafting grid. The smithing route also needs a matching template item: Template: Ferricore, Template: Celestigem or Template: Eclipse Alloy. The crafting grid route uses a Stick instead of a template.[5]
