What is Ars Unification?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide

Ars Unification is a small compatibility mod that lets Ars Nouveau take recipes from other mods. Currently it picks up Crush and Cut type recipes and lets the matching glyphs use them. This pack ships version 1.2.21.[1][2]

Currently, if Not Enough Glyphs is installed, the Flatten glyph also gets processing for Press type recipes. The mod's author says they will not be adding multi-way recipe-stealing.[1]

How recipes are chosen

Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones borrowed from other mods. The priorities of the borrowed recipes can be set in the common config file. You can also block specific recipes by putting matching Regular Expressions in that config. EMI can show you a recipe's ID.[1]

Almost Unified is highly recommended alongside it, though it is not required. It reduces functionally duplicated recipes.[1]

How do you get started with Ars Unification?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Unification is a small helper mod, so there's nothing to craft and no machine to place. It lets Ars Nouveau borrow processing recipes from other mods, and your first steps are about knowing what it changes.[1]

What it does

The mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes from other mods and lets the matching Ars Nouveau glyphs use them. If Not Enough Glyphs is installed, its Flatten glyph can also process Press type recipes.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Work out which recipe you want. The mod can pull from the crushers, mills, saws, cutting boards, squeezers and compressors of the supported mods: Actually Additions, Ender IO, Farmer's Delight, Immersive Engineering, Integrated Dynamics, Mekanism, Modern Industrialization and Occultism.[1]
  2. Currently the mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes, so use the Crush glyph for crushing-type recipes and the Cut glyph for cutting-type recipes in your spells. They can use the borrowed recipes as well as Ars Nouveau's own.[1]
  3. If Not Enough Glyphs is present, the mod also gives its Flatten glyph the ability to process Press type recipes.[1]
  4. Add augments to process more at once. On Cut and Flatten, the AOE augment widens the radius searched for items, Pierce raises the number of items processed, and Sensitive makes the glyph try to process nearby items.[3]
Tip: Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over recipes borrowed from other mods. Priorities for the borrowed recipes can be set in the common config file.[1]
Tip: If a borrowed recipe gets in your way, you can disable it by putting a matching Regular Expression in the config. EMI shows you a recipe's ID so you know what to match.[1]

Almost Unified is highly recommended but not required. It reduces functionally duplicated recipes.[1]

How does Ars Unification work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Currently, Ars Unification works as a recipe bridge: it lets Ars Nouveau glyphs use processing recipes that other mods already define. The sources describe no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling of its own, so the core mechanics here are about which glyphs take which recipes, and how conflicts get resolved.[1]

What the glyphs can process

  • Crush and Cut type recipes from other mods can be used by the Crush and Cut glyphs.[1]
  • If Not Enough Glyphs is installed, its Flatten glyph also gets processing capability for Press type recipes. The mod's page describes this as what it currently does.[1]

The author says they will not be adding multi-way recipe-stealing, and the mod currently only takes recipes from other mods into Ars Nouveau, not the other way round.[1]

Supported mods and their machines

Currently, the recipes come from these mods and machine types:[1]

  • Actually Additions: Crusher (currently supported).[1]
  • Ender IO: SAG Mill (currently supported).[1]
  • Farmer's Delight: Cutting Board (currently supported).[1]
  • Immersive Engineering: Crusher and Sawmill (currently supported).[1]
  • Integrated Dynamics: Squeezer and Mechanical Squeezer (currently supported).[1]
  • Mekanism: Crusher and Sawmill (currently supported).[1]
  • Modern Industrialization: Macerator, Cutting Machine and Compressor (currently supported).[1]
  • Occultism: Crusher Spirits (currently supported).[1]

Augments for Cut and Flatten

The Cut and Flatten glyphs work on items nearby, and the mod's tooltips describe augments for each. The wording is the same for both glyphs apart from the glyph name.[3]

  • AOE: increases the radius in which the glyph looks for items to process.[3]
  • Pierce: increases the number of items the glyph will process.[3]
  • Sensitive: the glyph will try to process items nearby.[3]

Recipe priority and blocking

Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones borrowed from other mods. For the borrowed recipes, the mod's page says their priorities can be configured in the common config file.[1]

You can also stop specific recipes from being taken by adding matching Regular Expressions to the config. The mod's page suggests EMI as a way to look up a recipe's ID.[1]

Tip: At the moment, the mod's page highly recommends Almost Unified, though it isn't required for the mod to function. It reduces functionally duplicated recipes.[1]

Unverified The priority order and any disabled-recipe patterns are set in this mod's common config file, and the sources here do not show that file's contents for this pack, so the exact values used are unconfirmed.

Which Ars Unification config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Ars Unification lets Ars Nouveau's Crush and Cut glyphs borrow recipes from other mods. You tune it through per-machine priority options and a list of exceptions in the server config file. Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones from other mods, whatever you set.[1][4]

The one value this pack changed

The pack sets press.modern_industrialization.compressor.priority to 100. The mod default is -1, which disables those recipes, so this pack turns Modern Industrialization's Compressor recipes on for Press-type processing. Every other priority and tier option in the file matches the mod default.[4]

Tip: Currently the mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes for the glyphs. Press type recipes only come into play if Not Enough Glyphs is present, because then its Flatten glyph gets processing capability for them. Check that it is installed before you count on the Compressor recipes.[1]

Crush priorities

Each machine has its own priority, and -1 disables that machine's recipes. The pack uses these values:[4]

The Occultism Crusher uses tier 1 in this pack (crush.occultism.crusher.tier), and the allowed range is 1 to 4.[4]

The Integrated Dynamics option crush.integrateddynamics.squeezer.mechanical is true in the pack, so the Mechanical Squeezer's recipes are used instead.[4]

Cut priorities

AE2 circuit printing

press.ae2.inscriber.circuit_printing.priority is 200, the mod default. The allowed press list in press.ae2.inscriber.circuit_printing.presses covers AE2's own presses plus presses from the megacells, extendedae, advanced_ae and appflux namespaces.[4]

Focus of Transmutation and exceptions

Every Ars Technica Focus of Transmutation option is true in the pack. With the focus equipped, that doubles chance-based outputs and doubles the amount of items processed, for both Cut-type and Press-type recipes. The options are compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_chance_outputs, compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_processing_amount, compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_chance_outputs and compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_processing_amount.[4]

exceptions is empty in the pack. It takes regular expressions that stop matching recipes from being unified, and you can look up a recipe's ID in EMI.[1][4]

What changed in Ars Unification between versions?

1 part

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Ars Unification 1.2.21. The mod has been in the pack since 1.14.0 or earlier. Here are the notable changes in the mod's own recent releases, newest first.[5]

Mod releases

  • 1.2.21 (the version in this pack): a fix for safer recipe viewer integration when NEG is not present.[5][6]
  • 1.2.20: added support for Farmers Delight's chance outputs, plus a refactor for cleaner handling of recipe reprocessing.[7]
  • 1.2.19: updated dependencies, added zh_cn translations, and fixed redundant recipe reprocessing happening on every player join.[8]
  • 1.2.18: downgraded JEI so it works with TMRV.[9]

The 1.2.19 fix is worth knowing about: recipes no longer get reprocessed every time a player joins. The 1.2.20 refactor then tidied up how that reprocessing is handled.[7][8]
