What is Ars Unification?

3 parts

Ars Unification is a small compatibility mod that lets Ars Nouveau take recipes from other mods. Currently it picks up Crush and Cut type recipes and lets the matching glyphs use them. This pack ships version 1.2.21.[1][2]

Currently, if Not Enough Glyphs is installed, the Flatten glyph also gets processing for Press type recipes. The mod's author says they will not be adding multi-way recipe-stealing.[1]

How recipes are chosen

Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones borrowed from other mods. The priorities of the borrowed recipes can be set in the common config file. You can also block specific recipes by putting matching Regular Expressions in that config. EMI can show you a recipe's ID.[1]

Almost Unified is highly recommended alongside it, though it is not required. It reduces functionally duplicated recipes.[1]

Supported mods

  • Actually Additions (Crusher)[1]
  • Ender IO (SAG Mill)[1]
  • Farmer's Delight (Cutting Board)[1]
  • Immersive Engineering (Crusher, Sawmill)[1]
  • Integrated Dynamics (Squeezer, Mechanical Squeezer)[1]
  • Mekanism (Crusher, Sawmill)[1]
  • Modern Industrialization (Macerator, Cutting Machine, Compressor)[1]
  • Occultism (Crusher Spirits)[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

How do you get started with Ars Unification?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Unification is a small helper mod, so there's nothing to craft and no machine to place. It lets Ars Nouveau borrow processing recipes from other mods, and your first steps are about knowing what it changes.[1]

What it does

The mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes from other mods and lets the matching Ars Nouveau glyphs use them. If Not Enough Glyphs is installed, its Flatten glyph can also process Press type recipes.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Work out which recipe you want. The mod can pull from the crushers, mills, saws, cutting boards, squeezers and compressors of the supported mods: Actually Additions, Ender IO, Farmer's Delight, Immersive Engineering, Integrated Dynamics, Mekanism, Modern Industrialization and Occultism.[1]
  2. Currently the mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes, so use the Crush glyph for crushing-type recipes and the Cut glyph for cutting-type recipes in your spells. They can use the borrowed recipes as well as Ars Nouveau's own.[1]
  3. If Not Enough Glyphs is present, the mod also gives its Flatten glyph the ability to process Press type recipes.[1]
  4. Add augments to process more at once. On Cut and Flatten, the AOE augment widens the radius searched for items, Pierce raises the number of items processed, and Sensitive makes the glyph try to process nearby items.[3]
Tip: Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over recipes borrowed from other mods. Priorities for the borrowed recipes can be set in the common config file.[1]
Tip: If a borrowed recipe gets in your way, you can disable it by putting a matching Regular Expression in the config. EMI shows you a recipe's ID so you know what to match.[1]

Almost Unified is highly recommended but not required. It reduces functionally duplicated recipes.[1]

How does Ars Unification work?

6 parts

Ars Unification is a recipe mod, not a machine mod. Its job is to let Ars Nouveau take recipes from other mods. It takes Crush and Cut type recipes and lets the respective glyphs use them. If Not Enough Glyphs is present, its Flatten glyph also gets processing for Press type recipes. So you won't build anything for this mod. You cast spells at items instead.[1]

Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones borrowed from other mods. The mod also does not do multi-way recipe stealing.[1]

Which mods it borrows from

  • Actually Additions: Crusher.[1]
  • Ender IO: SAG Mill.[1]
  • Farmer's Delight: Cutting Board.[1]
  • Immersive Engineering: Crusher and Sawmill.[1]
  • Integrated Dynamics: Squeezer, or the Mechanical Squeezer.[1]
  • Mekanism: Crusher and Sawmill.[1]
  • Modern Industrialization: Macerator, Cutting Machine and Compressor.[1]
  • Occultism: Crusher Spirits.[1]
  • AE2: the pack's config also has settings for the Inscriber, both as a Crush source and for circuit printing.[4]

Augments on Cut and Flatten

Cut and Flatten each get three augments from this mod. You use them to control how much gets processed in one cast.[5]

  • AOE: increases the radius in which the glyph looks for items to process (the same for Cut and Flatten).[5]
  • Pierce: increases the number of items Cut or Flatten will process.[5]
  • Sensitive: makes Cut or Flatten try to process items nearby.[5]

Priorities in this pack

Each borrowed source has its own priority setting in config/ars_unification-server.toml. You can also block individual recipes by putting matching regular expressions in exceptions. This pack leaves that list empty.[1][4]

Watch out: The pack changed one value. press.modern_industrialization.compressor.priority is 100 here, while the mod default is -1 (disabled). So Modern Industrialization Compressor recipes are available to Press processing in this pack. The other priorities listed above match the mod defaults.[4]

Other settings worth knowing

Focus of Transmutation bonuses

If you carry a Focus of Transmutation from Ars Technica, the pack has all the compatibility options turned on. Cut doubles both the amount of items processed (compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_processing_amount) and chance-based outputs (compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_chance_outputs). Press-type recipes get the same chance-output doubling (compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_chance_outputs). The amount doubling for Press-type recipes applies to Flatten (compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_processing_amount).[4]

A manual Cut recipe from the pack

The pack's own script adds one Cut recipe by hand, because the script's comment says the mod's unification wasn't picking it up. Cutting Overcharged Platinum Sheet gives one Overcharged Platinum Wire, with a chance of 1.0.[6]

Which Ars Unification config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Ars Unification lets Ars Nouveau's Crush and Cut glyphs borrow recipes from other mods. You tune it through per-machine priority options and a list of exceptions in the server config file. Recipes made specifically for Ars Nouveau always take priority over ones from other mods, whatever you set.[1][7]

The one value this pack changed

The pack sets press.modern_industrialization.compressor.priority to 100. The mod default is -1, which disables those recipes, so this pack turns Modern Industrialization's Compressor recipes on for Press-type processing. Every other priority and tier option in the file matches the mod default.[7]

Tip: Currently the mod takes Crush and Cut type recipes for the glyphs. Press type recipes only come into play if Not Enough Glyphs is present, because then its Flatten glyph gets processing capability for them. Check that it is installed before you count on the Compressor recipes.[1]

Crush priorities

Each machine has its own priority, and -1 disables that machine's recipes. The pack uses these values:[7]

The Occultism Crusher uses tier 1 in this pack (crush.occultism.crusher.tier), and the allowed range is 1 to 4.[7]

The Integrated Dynamics option crush.integrateddynamics.squeezer.mechanical is true in the pack, so the Mechanical Squeezer's recipes are used instead.[7]

Cut priorities

AE2 circuit printing

press.ae2.inscriber.circuit_printing.priority is 200, the mod default. The allowed press list in press.ae2.inscriber.circuit_printing.presses covers AE2's own presses plus presses from the megacells, extendedae, advanced_ae and appflux namespaces.[7]

Focus of Transmutation and exceptions

Every Ars Technica Focus of Transmutation option is true in the pack. With the focus equipped, that doubles chance-based outputs and doubles the amount of items processed, for both Cut-type and Press-type recipes. The options are compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_chance_outputs, compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.cut_double_processing_amount, compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_chance_outputs and compat.ars_technica.transmutation_focus.press_double_processing_amount.[7]

exceptions is empty in the pack. It takes regular expressions that stop matching recipes from being unified, and you can look up a recipe's ID in EMI.[1][7]

What changed in Ars Unification between versions?

1 part

Ars Unification 1.2.21 is the version in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0. The pack file says it was first included in Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a long time. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so the notes below come from the mod's own changelogs.[2]

Recent mod releases

  • 1.2.21 (the version in this pack): safer recipe viewer integration when NEG is not present.[2][8]
  • 1.2.20: added support for Farmers Delight's chance outputs, and cleaner handling of recipe reprocessing.[9]
  • 1.2.19: dependencies updated, and recipe reprocessing is no longer repeated redundantly every time a player joins. This release also added zh_cn translations.[10]

The sources don't list any older releases, and they don't say whether the pack changed any of the mod's values or recipes.[2][8][9][10]
