Tempad is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 3.0.4. Create a portal to anywhere from anywhere (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Tempad?

2 parts

Tempad is a teleportation mod inspired by Marvel's Loki. Instead of one single teleporter, you get a set of themed items and blocks that all revolve around opening portals and travelling between places. This pack includes version 3.0.4.[1][2]

It's for you if you're tired of long walks back to base, or if you want a way to set up fast travel between your favourite spots, and maybe let your friends teleport to you.[1]

What it adds

The mod also comes with in-game documentation. The mod page lists support for FTB Teams, Jade and Curios, among others.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack gives the mod its own quest chapter, and it works as a tech tree. You begin with Chronon Cell in "Welcome to Tempad" quest, and four branches open from there: Chronon Generator, the Timedoor Marker and Location Card pair, the Location Broadcaster, and Time Steel.[3]

Later quests cover the Workstation (after the Tempad) and the Metronome (after the chronometer). Two upgrades come last: the Player Teleport Upgrade, which needs both the broadcaster and the workstation, and the Knowledge Repository Upgrade, which needs the workstation.[3]

How do you get started with Tempad?

5 parts

Tempad is a teleportation mod: you build portals and travel between saved points using a set of themed items. In this pack the mod has its own quest chapter, and following it is the easiest way to get started. Here is the order I'd go in, and why.[1][3]

First, the Chronon Cell

The Chronon Cell is where the chapter begins ("Welcome to Tempad" quest), and everything else in the chapter follows from it. It's also a component in the Chronon Battery, Chronon Generator and Timedoor Projector recipes, so you'll keep needing it.[3][4]

Next, Time Steel

Time Steel has its own quest ("Time Steel" quest). It shows up in the recipes for the Chronon Battery, Chronomark, Chronometer, Tempad, Time Twister and Metronome, so make it early. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, and there are two ways to get it: a crafting table version and a Create mixing version.[3][4]

Then the Chronon Battery and the Tempad

Once you have Time Steel, make a Chronon Battery ("Chronon Battery" quest). It uses a Chronon Cell and Time Steel, and the quests for the Time Twister, the Chronometer and the Tempad all come after it.[3][4]

Timedoors

Timedoors are how you set teleport locations and travel between them. The chapter has you make a Timedoor Marker and a Location Card ("Timedoor Marker" quest). The pack has two Location Card recipes: a cheaper one and one that uses Time Steel.[1][3][4]

How does Tempad work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Tempad is built around teleportation you carry with you or place in the world. The sources describe what each piece does, but not the numbers behind it, so this section covers how the systems fit together and flags what I can't confirm.[1]

Timedoors: projector and marker

The Timedoor Projector and the Timedoor Marker are how you set teleport locations and travel between them through Timedoors. The Marker also has a shapeless clean recipe.[1][5]

When you set up a portal, you choose where it opens relative to you using front/back, left/right and up/down fields. Positive front/back places the portal in front of you and negative puts it behind you. Positive left/right places it to your left and negative to your right. Positive up/down places it higher and negative lower. All of these fields accept decimals, for example 1.3.[6]

Deleting a saved location asks you to confirm first, and the prompt warns that it can't be undone. Think twice before clearing a location you still use.[6]

Saved locations and returning

Location Card items hold locations. The Card Wallet stores and manages your cards. The Time Twister takes you back to previous locations.[1]

The pack has a cheap and an expensive recipe for the Location Card, and both are shapeless. A separate shapeless recipe cleans a card.[5]

Letting other players teleport to you

The Location Broadcaster and the Screening Device work as a pair. They let other players teleport directly to you, with advanced filtering. If Argonauts or FTB Teams is installed, you can filter by guild, party or teammates.[1]

Portable and block forms

The Tempad is the portable device, and the Workstation is its block-form variant. The Metronome is a block-form device for powering teleportation mechanics. Items can also go into dedicated Curios slots and are rendered on the player.[1]

The Knowledge Projector gives you in-game documentation inside Minecraft, so check it for details that this guide can't confirm.[1]

Time Steel in this pack

Time Steel is used in many of the recipes above, and the pack changed how you get it. Both the crafting recipe and the Create mixing recipe are pack changes, not mod defaults.[5]

Tip: If the Cadmus claims mod is installed, Timedoors can be disabled on claimed territory. Check your claims before you plan a base portal.[1]

Unverified How Chronon items such as the Chronon Generator, Chronon Cell and Chronon Battery store and use power is told in the in-game documentation of the Knowledge Projector, and the sources here do not show it. The pack also has no config files for this mod in these sources, so no tunable values are confirmed.

How do you progress through Tempad?

6 parts

Tempad's progression in this pack is a single quest chapter that starts at one item and branches out. Every quest in the chapter is an obtain-this-item task, so the quest tree works as your crafting order. You start with the Chronon Cell ("Welcome to Tempad" quest), and four quests open up right after it.[3]

Stage 1: the four first branches

Time Steel is the gate

The pack changed the Time Steel recipes, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. There is a crafting grid recipe and a Create mixing recipe, and both are shown below. Many later items in this chapter, including the Tempad itself, use Time Steel in their recipes.[4]

Once you have Time Steel, the next quest is the Chronon Battery ("Chronon Battery" quest). The Tempad, the Time Twister and the Chronometer quests all come after it.[3]

Stage 2: the Tempad line

Finishing the battery quest opens three quests: the Tempad ("Tempad" quest), the Time Twister ("Time Twister" quest) and the Chronometer ("Chronometer" quest). The Chronometer quest also needs the Chronon Generator quest done first, so it is where your generator branch and your Time Steel branch meet.[3]

Stage 3: Workstation, upgrades and Metronome

The Workstation ("Workstation" quest) comes after the Tempad quest. From there you reach two upgrade quests: the Knowledge Repository Upgrade ("Knowledge Repository Upgrade" quest) and the Player Teleport Upgrade ("Player Teleport Upgrade" quest). The Player Teleport Upgrade also needs the Location Broadcaster quest, so it joins that side branch back to the main line.[3]

How does Tempad work with other mods?

3 parts

The pack ties Tempad into other mods through recipes that the recipe dump confirms. Both recipes were added by the pack, so you won't find them in the mods' defaults.[4]

Time Prism

Time Prism is made in an Actually Additions empowering recipe. It uses Tempad's Chronon Battery together with items from several other mods. The recipe below shows every input.[4]

Empowering (actuallyadditions)

Recipe id: ftb:time_prism

To get the Chronon Battery, follow the Tempad quest chapter. The battery quest comes after the Time Steel quest.[3]

Creative Chronometer

The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Creative Chronometer that links the Chronometer with Creative Ascension, an item from the pack's own FTB content. The recipe below shows the exact inputs.[4]

Compatibility listed by the mod

Tempad's project page lists compatibility with Cadmus (disables Timedoors on claimed territories), Argonauts and FTB Teams (filter teleport options by guild, party or teammates), Jade (extra HUD info for blocks and Timedoors), Dark Mode Everywhere, and Curios (items can go in Curios slots and render on the player).[1]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Tempad?

4 parts

Tempad has a single quest chapter in this pack, called "tempad". None of its quests have a title, and each one asks for an item, so you complete a quest by getting the listed item. The chapter is a branching tree that starts with the Chronon Cell.[3]

The starting quest

Everything begins with "Welcome to Tempad" quest, which asks for the Chronon Cell. The next quests all unlock right after it, and each starts its own branch.[3]

Branch by branch

After the Chronon Battery

The Chronon Battery quest opens more quests. "Time Twister" quest asks for the Time Twister. "Tempad" quest asks for the Tempad itself. "Chronometer" quest asks for the Chronometer, and it also needs the Chronon Generator quest to be done.[3]

The final upgrades

Both of the last quests come after the Workstation quest. "Knowledge Repository Upgrade" quest asks for the Knowledge Repository Upgrade. "Player Teleport Upgrade" quest asks for the Player Teleport Upgrade, and it also needs the Location Broadcaster quest, "Location Broadcaster" quest, to be done.[3]

Tip: You can work on several branches at once. Only the Chronometer and Player Teleport Upgrade quests need two earlier quests finished, so check those before you plan your route.[3]

What changed in Tempad between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Tempad 3.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier, so this is the version you are playing with.[2]

Tempad 3.0.4

The 3.0.4 changelog is the one I have for this mod. It adds two quality-of-life features and fixes a handful of bugs.[7]

  • New: if a battery is empty, you can shift right click it on a block to take energy from that block.[7]
  • New: the Metronome inventory can now be accessed with pipes, so you can automate it.[7]
  • Fixed: text rendering that looked crunchy and weird.[7]
  • Fixed: the Timedoor Projector not opening glitchy portals while it is in your hand.[7]
  • Fixed: several missing config entries.[7]
  • Fixed: timedoors being chunkloaded forever.[7]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Tempad were available, so any changes between individual FTB Skies 2 releases are unverified.
